It should be doable. We can do it with more advanced code than HTML as well, I just don't know PHP and stuff. But even just with basic HTML it would be pretty easy to have like Sub-Headings and stuff for different categories. What I don't know is whether or not it would be customizable by each user or if it would just stay set as whatever the first person to click it does. The point is we can do custom blocks so in theory we could pull it off.

Quoting myself because that's fun haha. I have found you can run custom code blocks in the sidebar so in theory we could probably build this pretty easily using just like HTML.
-
I don't think we could have an actual checklist, at least not without installing a mod (which I can look into if there is anything) but if we just wanted a list with links in the sidebar of weekly tasks to complete that is incredibly easy. You can basically add anything you can to a normal comment box into a sidebar post.

Because we don't have the players? The problem with the VHLM especially for expansion is that the spots don't just need to be open NOW they need to be open long term. We've seen before the VHLM expand super fast and then be over half empty when we have a poor recruitment season, it's incredibly volatile. I would argue do they automatically associate the post from coming from a bot? I'm not gonna say it isn't a bit obvious, because it is, but it's not like the post is made by "WelcomeBot 9000" or something; it lists it as me. If people want to ask questions in there they are more than welcome to, the same as they are more than welcome to ask in the welcome PM. I have and will continue to respond to both and would encourage others to do the same in the post. I just wonder if you aren't focusing a bit much on it being a bot and not enough on it still being an immediate place where new members are tagged and invited to ask questions by, as far as they can immediately see anyway, a member of staff.

Looks at @Josh and myself simming and being blue.

That’s super hard to regulate though. Easy in real life but in the sim you could easily end up in situations where Simon just says “fuck your lines, Imma do what I want” and everything goes wonky. Aside from that I’ve always been personally on the “let GM’s do their job” side of the fence that doesn’t like forcing certain line choices on them.
-
I’m not talking about just the number of inactive and stuff though. If your goal is to compete what’s more enticing: A new player with 30 TPE or a player at 300 TPE that has been earning 6/week for multiple seasons? The waivers don’t stand a chance against high TPE players and the GM’s are more interested in keeping people from earning big TPE because they get to keep the players longer. This is precisely what happened last time the M cap was higher. Having the cap be lower means that most players are in and out in 2 seasons so there’s no reason to incentivize them to stay. I’m not opposed to it, just need the jobs to actually make sense instead of just existing for the sake of existing. If everyone is getting their TPE from jobs you end up in a situation where there’s barely any content being produced because people don’t need to earn elsewhere. That’s aside from the risk of a “too many cooks” situation if every position suddenly had way more people doing it.

Yeah I try to keep the link to it in my index posts each season but I don’t think the other simmers do. It’s definitely there though. It was originally android only mind you because we needed to get an apple developer account. Would that be exclusive to first gens though? Because everything scales so if everyone gets more time and everyone gets more PF then nothing effectively changes from what we have now except higher TPE numbers.

It is? I've had it for ages now. This was the case for awhile, it causes some issues. Mainly that people just get a lot of people to join who have no intention of ever sticking around. Got 10 friends? cool that's 30 TPE just from them signing up even though they won't remotely be active. It just kinda causes a logjam. Not 100% sure how either of these increases recruitment but I'm curious on your reasoning. I'm guessing this part is just for fun? Not sure at all how we'd be comfortably filling 7 new teams; though I guess if the expansion ideas worked really well. Not unless we take away the GM's ability to choose their own; it just creates too many issues of people being picked just to give them free TPE. boy those recruitment ideas better work if we're adding a new team every 8 months; also how would conferences be accounted for if only 1 team is being added?

Excuse you, I personally welcome each and every member! That actually wouldn't be hard as just like part of the forum sidebar. Mind you people who never leave the portal or mobile would almost never see it. I'm sure we could get one added to the portal that auto-checks things off and such but I'm not a dev so I can't really speak to the ease of that. Yes we do really need this, Portal development is tough when only one person, who has a lot of other commitments to boot, really understands how to do it. Except that they wouldn't be if the cap was 400 because those waiver players would be borderline useless. 200-400 is a weird range where arguably you're too good for the VHLM (IE you make picking up a waiver player pointless because you are better and they just get shit minutes) but you aren't good enough for the VHL where you just get dominated by 1500 TPE players. We've repeatedly seen this when the cap is increased, VHLM GM's care more about hanging onto high TPE borderline actives because they make the team better rather than caring about waiver players. There are reasons we separated the VHLE off that aren't just "we need to throw the inactive somewhere" that people seem to think it is.

That wouldn’t really change anything though. There would still be the same other sims every off season, we’d just only have at best 2 chances at the WC which would not be very many. Like imagine if the WC was in S90 and you were a S91 draftee. You obviously miss that first one because you severely lack TPE, you get one shot in S95, and then at most one shot as you retire in S99. Just doesn’t seem frequent enough to give people a shot at it.
-
Every second season* the WC has never been played every season but regardless my hunch on the lack of hype is purely down to over-stimulation; or over-simulation rather. Outside of the season itself what sims did we have back then? A 1 off All-Star game and the WC every 2 seasons, that was it. Now there’s sims of some variety nearly every single day of the year which inevitably makes some of them feel less special.

After the Calgary game I was going to say “B-DCD G2 = MVP” but then I saw the Davos game…

If you can turn it into enough words, be my guest. I’m not gonna pretend I wasn’t expecting a lot of those.
-
I mean history says people have gotten very mad at me for trying exactly that a few times.
-
I’m sure a lot of people are gonna try and pull that one. You’ll have to actually fill the void though. You’re commish remember, gotta solve the problems

Hello @Members! You all can see the calendar so you know what that says right? It's theme week, and we totally didn’t just add that yesterday, not at all! Of course, that also means that the Trade Deadline is Monday, July 10th at 3pm EST. This also means that anyone wishing to re-create for the S91 draft can do so starting at midnight that same day. --- Trade deadlines don’t offer TPE though do they? No, unless you plan on recreating (hey @Renomitsu) then what you’re really here for is theme week isn’t it? Well let’s get on with that then, the theme for S89 is: Now obviously you aren’t going to actually be commish for a day, trust me you don’t want the job, but we want to see what madness you would pull out if you were. Perhaps you’d pull out massive expansion, or relocate VHL teams to Vasteras, or scrap the BOG and become a dictator. We aren’t too particular and nothing is too far fetched. To earn your Theme Week TPE, write an article, create a graphic, or record a podcast with some connection to “commish for a day”. --- In order to claim the theme week bonus of 6 Uncapped TPE, simply submit your Themed PT (Graphic, Media Spot, or 6-TPE Podcast), and claim it as normal. After claiming the PT portion, you can use the same link, and claim the uncapped portion as follows: Claim Uncapped > Other > Doubles Week. (Note: you do not need to post your link in this thread to claim either portion of TPE). If you have already submitted a Point Task for this week, or are in the midst of claiming a multi-week Media Spot/Podcast, you may still submit a Theme Week PT this week, and claim the capped portion on the next available week, following your multi-week claim. Also, if you have a single job that pays 6+, you may claim the theme week bonus as long as you complete your duties for the week. If you are in the EFL or SBA and have completed their most recent Media Week, you may use that to claim the Uncapped theme week bonus, but a PT must be completed this week in order to claim the Capped portion, whether that is completed here or through Affiliate Welfare. Note: Only players who are S90 or older may claim the theme week bonus. @VHL GM @VHLE GM @VHLM GM

Welcome to the VHL, taylorherd! We're happy to have you. You should have received a PM with some more detailed information, but to get started quickly you will want to head over to the "How to Create a Player" topic. That topic will offer you detailed information about how to use the VHL Portal to create your player and get you started. We also highly recommend joining the VHL Discord where there is a channel dedicated to helping new members with any questions that they may have about the league or improving their player. Once your player is made VHLM General Managers will be in touch with you about joining their teams. In the meantime, please feel free to ask any questions you have here or in your create-a-player thread. We're happy to have you in the community and we hope you stick around!
