That is correct. It used to be that depreciation would hit in season 6-8 post draft regardless but we found there were people spending 3-4 extra seasons down sometimes so they’d end up basically getting depreciated immediately which didn’t seem fair so now it’s based on VHL seasons exclusively.

Depreciation is based on the number of seasons you have played at the VHL level, not just your draft season. So because you spent S80 and S81 in the VHLE you are currently entering your 6th VHL season. This means you were depreciated at that level. Still Kicking is, of course, for 7th season depreciation which is why it was denied. You are able to use it next season.

I do wonder when these numbers get pulled because it always seems like I’m a week behind. For instance Jardy is in fact at 184 as listed but I’m listed at 171 and am in fact at 185. It really doesn’t affect anything, it’s just curious that my update Monday morning always seems to be missing.

I promise it will happen. I got dragged out of town for a couple of days last minute so that threw some wrenches into planning things.

Out of morbid curiosity, does this trend continue if you go back to the seasons I was posting the poll, or does it already? I don’t recall when Vic was tasked with the job. I don’t mean it that he has done anything wrong or that I didn’t, simply that I know I never aimed to have any implicit bias in the matter (I’m sure Vic doesn’t either, I just can’t speak for him) so I’d be curious to see if that’s how it played out.

Hear hear! Everyone should obviously be allowed to choose their own path and they are, I myself am currently having to decide between the M and the E. However Gus’ point is valid that if your earning dictates you should go up unless you stop earning then going up is often the best course of action. After all we did design the limits around player numbers and their performance. If someone must stop earning for multiple weeks in order to stay down then I would argue the VHLM is not the place they belong, even if it’s the place they wish to be. It may seem logical at the time but can certainly hurt in the long run. Am I going to outright put a stop to it, of course not. As I said it’s obviously a player’s choice. It has always been and will always be my mindset though that there should be no reason anyone is ever actively encouraged to avoid earning. Be that moving between leagues or entering a higher earning bracket, or anything else. People should always earn what they are capable of earning.

Because Slobo is most outstanding, not most valuable. Dusty was more valuable to his team but that doesn’t inherently make his stats better. With that said I do believe his stats are better but being more valuable doesn’t inherently hold weight when it comes to the Slobo.

Absolute heartbreak for Prague but Fuhr was a solid brick wall for sure. Great finals from both teams.

That isn’t the only one but it is most certainly the oldest and most frequently used haha. I think the blues back in the day got annoyed by people saying they were snubbed from awards so there you go. Also certain groups bypass the filter, blue privilege

As is your right by far. I’m just saying it’s the right of others to say that S% and SO means more than GAA and wins as far as being “outstanding” is concerned. Personally I voted for neither of them but I will always deem a better S% and more SO as being a better goalie over more wins and a better GAA.

Pretty much any time we’ve had something with write ins it becomes much less of valid options and much more of a popularity contest which the Slobo has already suffered as a bit for awhile. As for having more on the ballot, we used to if you recall. I know when I used to do it the ballot was usually 10+ people. We kinda noticed though that it really was 2-3 battling it out, another 3-4 kinda getting a few votes but not really competing and the rest just getting 0 so it kinda became “why bother making such a huge list when we know who’s gonna get the votes”

S% and SO are far better indicators for a goalie’s performance than Wins and GAA though. The latter two matter sure but they say a lot more about a goalie’s team than the goalie themselves.
