  1. wasn't my post a snarky way of saying here haha But good to know
  2. Theme Week "First Gens" a clueless guide The life of a first gen usually follows two routes. They either run around cluelessly or they get brought around with a helping hand, or a few helping hands. In other words, they were either a fearless intellect deciding their own futures with no realistic knowledge on how to do things, or they are following someone else's footsteps and aimlessly and mindlessly doing things that had worked for others but with no actual explorations taking place. Regardless, the end result remains the same for first gens. The end would be surprisingly well done piece of art whom one could look back and admire, as long as the first gen puts in the work and effort. As a second gen, my experience as a first gen is still relatively fresh in the memory bank. I was one who foolishly followed the footsteps of some veterans but also aimlessly ran wild, doing my own things. I received basic knowledge on how to gain "training" points from weekly assignments and followed ones footsteps in performing weekly tasks to try to gain as many "training" points to improve my player. However, like most first gens, real life gets in the way and you would forget to do things. I, personally missed a lot of valuable weekly "training" TPEs whenever I get too busy to finish and even do the simple weekly tasks of Press Conferences, Articles, and Media Spots. And of course the weekly reviews when there were no trivia to "copy" off people. That's what you do as a first gen, no? How did I miss those valuable weekly training points, you ask? Press Conference is typically an easy 2 TPE. 6 questions. Answer them. Even if you write 3 words for each question of whatever first comes to your mind, you are good to go. 2 training points for you good sir / madam. Articles, Media Spots, weekly reviews are a much tougher challenge. Too much writing! And how the trivia has changed, I still remember my first gen trivia was not like what we have now. There was a lot of sharing of answers and everyone had the same questions if I remember correctly. But as the saying goes, grab those two easy TPE from Press Conferences and add in the 4 easy Pension/Welfare. Don't forget to go to Practice for 1 quick upgrade training point and you are off to a good, easy week of 7 points. I didn't even do that! Whenever I get too busy, I would even miss getting the welfare Now future first gens, don't do that. Don't miss the easy free training points! All in all, I feel the best way for a first gen to get a full experience would be to explore their own player builds and see what fits them. Following a veteran's advice is good for building what people find that works but where's the fun in that. You will only be following the footsteps of those who precedes you. You want to beat those who preceded you, not follow behind and feel disappointed in not getting any new records afterwards. However you want to play, play that way. If you are competitive, do those weekly tasks and ask veterans how to get more points to improve yourself. If you are more casual, explore the possibilities with the freebies and put a little bit of effort to have a fine experience while building a whole bunch of new friendships and social network! Remember, Practice + Welfare gets you 5, add in a few words for Press Conferences gets you 7. Just 7 is enough for you to build a feasible and useful player. Add in the extra weekly bonus from being actively checking the forums and GMs will come seeking you to fill out their rosters. After all, we all need lower TPA players to compliment the heavy competitive earners. Finally, have fun and mingle! [Word Count: 661]
  3. With the trade deadline in the horizon, we found time to speak with Calgary Wranglers star defenseman AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment whose team currently sits atop of the VHL, looking to hold off the rampaging Chicago Phoenix for top seat full out the S86 VHL playoffs. Reporter: Hello AirRig! Good to see you! We are in the final stretch of the regular season, how are you feeling about your game and the teams' chances for finishing first in the VHL? AG: Hello. Where we finish in the regular season does not matter as long as we make the playoffs. Once playoffs begin, it's a whole new ball game.. umm puck game. We just got to play our game and we'll be fine. Reporter: How are you preparing for the final push and playoffs? AG: Just working through the cracks in my game. I have not been terrible but there is a lot of room for improvement. I think it is time to work on filling these gaps in my game and take it to another level for the remainder of Season 86. Reporter: Best of luck for the rest of the season. We look forward to speaking with you during the playoffs. [Word count 203]
  4. Warsaw Predators Press Conference Week Ending Sunday, December 18, 2022 Answer 3 for 1 TPE, all 6 for 2 TPE. 1. Trade deadline is upon us! We sit first in the conference. Albeit tied with 2 others. Do we need to make trade(s) for playoffs push? 2. Tight race with Moscow and D.C. Who would be our biggest challenge for 1st in conference? 3. What position is preferred for seating for playoffs? 4. Once again, all our forwards are 20 goals scorers. What was the best offensive team you have played for and how good was that teams' offense? 5. At what time should we start talking contracts? 6. How do you define a blockbuster trade?
  5. We are midway through Season 85. We found time to speak with Calgary Wranglers star defenseman AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment who is having a terrific season so far with the first place Calgary Wranglers. Reporter: Hello AirRig! Good to see you again! You are having a terrific season so far. How are you finding the VHL now that you're midway through your 4th season pro? AG: Hello. There are always upsides and downsides to your game in hockey. Naturally, I've been having both so far this season. Offensively, I've been respectable, but there's plenty of room to improve and develop. Defensively it has been a weird and unique season. I haven't been terrible but I also haven't been good either. Lots to work on to improve my game. Reporter: What are you doing differently to improve your game? AG: Improvement is a long term process. Just got to put in the hard work. Go to practice. Do the little things. Compete and repeatedly work on my game until I get the fundamentals down. Reporter: Sounds like a lot of sweat and blood. I'll let you get back to your needy gritty workouts. Best of luck in the rest of your season! [Word count 198]
  6. Warsaw Predators Press Conference Week Ending Sunday, December 11, 2022 Answer 3 for 1 TPE, all 6 for 2 TPE. 1. Midseason report. How is @N0HBDY doing as GM so far this season? 2. We all know your defense problems, but could always have a superb top line right winger to play with Marner and Galvins. Who would be a dream winger (or center) to add to the top line? 3. Winter holidays are incoming. Does your player celebrate any of the festivities? 4. What's the wildest thing your player has done at the team hotel? (Don't worry, you won't get in trouble ) 5. If you got to roommate with one teammate, who would it be? And why? 6. How good are those New Jersey Devils and Seattle Krakens really this year?
  7. Warsaw Predators Press Conference Week Ending Sunday, December 04, 2022 Answer 3 for 1 TPE, all 6 for 2 TPE. 1. We stumbled a bit this week, but we're still in a good position. How impressed are you of how well the team is playing given our lackluster defense (both offensively and rating-wise)? 2. If we go out to target a defenseman, who do you wish to have join our blue line? 3. What is the worst thing you've done on the team bus or team plane? 4. Girts Galvins @Girts, how good is this guy? A temporary show of brilliance or a many things to come? 5. What is the worst thing you've forgotten to bring during a road trip? 6. If you can be a NHL GM for a day, what would you do and which team would you choose to GM?
  8. We are over a third way into Season 85. We found time to speak with Calgary Wranglers star defenseman AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment who has been having a terrific offensive season, but we also have media coverage stating a possible defensive liability? Reporter: Hello AirRig! Good to see you! How are you feeling so far this season? We heard that some people are calling your defensive game as a possible liability and that you may be “soft”. What are your thoughts to these suggestions? AG: Hello. I’m not happy with these suggestions and opinions, but you cannot stop how people think. I have not been playing very well defensively this season, so that could be a reason why people are saying that. There is a lot to improve in in my game. I know I can do better. Reporter: How do you plan to improve your game and become better? AG: It’s a process. Just got to play each game hard and with no regrets. A shift at a time and improve daily and consistently. Reporter: Best of luck in the season! We look forward to proving those doubters wrong! [Word count 191]
  9. Thoughts on the case of AirRig GoodBrandSun and the lack of hits and defensive play A question arisen as we looked at the career, as of so far, of Calgary Wranglers’ star defenseman AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment. What is wrong with AirRig GoodBrandSun’s defensive game? AirRig GoodBrandSun was a former Jake Wylde Trophy winner as a rookie defenseman back in Season 83 when he had his VHL debut. Jake Wylde Trophy winner signifies a tremendous attitude toward defense, being the defensive defenseman of the year for a reason. AirRig GoodBrandSun had a terrific defensive season in Season 83, where he posted a remarkable 177 hits, 198 shots blocked and only 112 PIM sin bin minutes, while grabbing a +30 plus - minus rating as the Calgary Wranglers top defense in Season 83. An incredible feat for a rookie! However, things went downhill from there. AirRig GoodBrandSun could have said to have had a sophomore slump season in Season 84, where he posted a lackluster 106 hits and 128 shots blocked with a +24 plus – minus rating. AirRig GoodBrandSun did had a terrific season away from the sin bin, however, with only 80 PIM. It was a terrible season for AirRig GoodBrandSun in terms of defensive efficiency and offensive output. Pro season three came along in Season 85, a so called explosive breakout season for AirRig GoodBrandSun. Well, offensively that is. AirRig GoodBrandSun was terrific offensively in the regular season of Season 85, but defensively, he was questionable in comparison. 160 hits was decent but deficient for a 6’8’’, big, “stay at home” defenseman. That was what his job description was in his draft season in the Season 83 VHL entry draft. AirRig GoodBrandSun had also an even worse category, shot blocking. 123 shots blocked, a VHL career low! AirRig did post a career high +36 in plus – minus rating, but that’s a team stat, not a very good individual defensive rating component. Plus it appears quite lacking when you compare the number to previous seasons when you add the offensive output to the equation. AirRig GoodBrandSun more than doubled his offensive points production in Season 85 compared to Season 84, but only had a 50% increase to the plus – minus rating. Truly a display of an unimpressive defensive effort? And here comes the forth pro season, Season 86. AirRig GoodBrandSun’s first big boy money season. As of right now, thru 25 games, AirRig GoodBrandSun is on pace to perhaps match Season 85 in offensive points production and plus – minus rating numbers. Not very good, but also not terrible. But then you look at the defensive side of the game. 54 shots blocked. That’s pretty nice! Not Top Ten in the VHL, but team leading. 28 PIM sin bin minutes, that’s not too terrible, just over a minute a game. And 18 hits. Wait did I hear. Read. See that correctly? 18 hits. Yes, 18 hits. That’s second worst on the Calgary Wranglers, with only forward Sax Justice @Eso having less with 10 hits! 18 HITS as a big 6’8’’ defenseman, playing top pairing minutes in all and every possible situation for the Calgary Wranglers. An unbelievable brilliant stat! 18 hits is the 34th lowest in the VHL so far in Season 86. An eye opening statistically feat for a big time defenseman! So what is wrong with AirRig GoodBrandSun’s defensive game? It could be many things. 62 checking is 3rd highest on the Calgary Wranglers. Is that one of the reasons toward a lack of hits and ineffective defense? Well 91 Defense Rating puts AirRig 2nd on the Wranglers, so defensively he should be a shining star. Could it be his usage and pairing? AirRig GoodBrandSun has been seen playing with sophomore defensive passing defenseman, and hard hitter Phil Strasmore @Phil. On top of that, AirRig GoodBrandSun is usually on the ice with Calgary Wranglers Captain and Superstar forward Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser who is second on team checking and first on team defensive rating. Daniel Janser and Phil Strasmore are 1st and 2nd on the team for Hits so far this season in Season 86. This could very well be a possibility. But. It should not have such a tremendous effect that causes AirRig GoodBrandSun to hit only 18 times. Maybe he’s just soft. Yeah, AirRig GoodBrandSun is just a big o’le softie. That’s got to be it! But AirRig GoodBrandSun got himself in front of 54 shots to make those shot blocks! Do “soft” players do that? I’m not sure. You tell me! Oh, I know, it could be because Phil Strasmore and Daniel Janser are just too fast and ends up stealing all the hits from AirRig GoodBrandSun. You know how big defenseman are like. Big and slow. AirRig GoodBrandSun is tied as the Calgary Wranglers’ best skater and puck handler. AirRig trumps both Daniel Janser and Phil Strasmore in the skating category. AirRig shouldn’t have a problem getting those hits in with that skating ability… But. Could it really be Skating being the cause of concern to AirRig GoodBrandSun’s lackluster defensive game? We asked former VHL forward and current AGM of the Warsaw Predators, @Rhynex Entertainment, for his opinion. “There could be a lot of reasons but AirRig GoodBrandSun’s defensive game struggles. I cannot say or pin point the reasons, but when you compare AirRig’s first season as a rookie to his next three seasons, you will see a certain trait that separates AirRig from his rookie Jake Wylde trophy winning season and his following three season. And this trait is Skating. AirRig GoodBrandSun was a terrible skater as a rookie. His Strength, Puck Handling, Defense were all leaps and bounds better than his skating in Season 83. There were locker room rumours suggesting that AirRig did not like how slow and stumbly he skates, therefore he worked really hard on his skating over the Season 83 – 84 off season. The added Skating gave AirRig GoodBrandSun an added satisfaction to his game. Season 84 was a “getting used to it” season where he wasn’t “used to” his new found skating ability. Thus the lack of offensive production, but also a very efficient game avoiding the penalty box. However, as AirRig GoodBrandSun improved his Skating, the more he began to impress and the more elegant his game became. Thus the more we saw AirRig GoodBrandSun skating around during the game and the less we see him hitting things. No longer is there a stumbly AirRig GoodBrandSun, but a smooth skaking one instead. That is my opinion.” What are your thoughts to the question, what is wrong with AirRig GoodBrandSun’s defensive game? Let us here your thoughts below (in the comments’ section ) [Word Count 1116] [Claim for weeks ending 2022-11-27 and 2022-12-04]
  10. Awesome read! As I said I would, here is my review! Fantastic information gather, but my poor plan of getting Discipline looks to come to a sad abrupt ending. DI is useless? I need to change my build again Great use of titles and paragraph structure. Could have used more colour though. I'm still wondering how the +++ comes about, but that's a different story. Also was goaltending stats really relatable for this analysis as there was no change to goaltenders with the hybrid change? Or am I wrong? Regardless very good read. Looks like I need to get more Checking, I don't hit enough for a 6'8 d-man. 10/10 P.S Why do people like Centered writing so much? I personally find them a little bit harder to read.
  11. S86 VHL First Featured Game The VHL season has finally begun in S86 and it is time for more featured game highlight recaps! Today we have our first featured game of Season 86 of the VHL! Our first featured game is, as usual, the first game of the season. We have an all-North American match up. We start the season with a game between the visiting Seattle Bears and rival home team, Los Angeles Stars. The first VHL game of Season 86 was a very close match and goaltending duel between the Los Angeles Stars and Seattle Bears. The home team, Los Angeles Stars start off their season strong and quickly with an early goal from Deagun Rust @Spade18, who is in his final season of his VHL career. A very welcoming sight for the S79 veteran right winger. Deagun Rust's first goal of S86 came 2:02 into the first period of the new season, as Todd Cooke @l1l KRZY l9l and fellow S79 veteran Poopy Peepants @JardyB10 notches their first points of the season with the primary and secondary assists respectively. Not much happens offensively for the scoreboard in the rest of the period, except for Seattle heading to the sin bin three times at 2:44, 4:45, and 19:19 timestamps. The Los Angeles Stars lead 1 - 0 over the Seattle Bears after 20 minutes. The Stars outshot the Bears 15 to 10 in the period. The Los Angeles Stars extend their lead early into the second period. A power play goal at 0:27 into the period from Sirdsvaldis Miglaskems @FrostBeard gives the Stars a 2 - 0 cushion. Scoish Velociraptor Maloish @youloser1337 grabs their first point of the season with an assist, and Poopy Peepants doubles their season total with their second assist of the night. Seattle quickly comes back with their own, a goal from the Florida Man @zepheter, Seattle's first goal of the new season S86. Florida Man's goal is also a power play goal, which came at 2:08, cutting Los Angeles Stars' lead back to one at 2 - 1. Alessandro Nano @leafsman and Tavish DeGroot @rory helped on the power play goal with their own 1st assists of the season. Seattle pushes back a little harder, closing the gap in the shots department. The second period ended the same way as the first, with the Los Angeles Stars continuing to lead by one. The Seattle Bears outshot the Los Angeles Stars 13 to 10 in the second period as the two teams traded goals. Los Angeles lead 2 - 1 after two. Both teams did not give up an edge in the third period. Lots of neutral zone plays, with end to end action as the Los Angeles Stars and Seattle Bears go tooth for tooth and nail for nail. The two teams practically played the same amount of time in each other's zone as both goaltenders faced a fair share of shots. Both Dusty Wilson @dustywilson22, for Seattle, and Art Vandelay @Gustav , for Los Angeles, had a soundless and perfect third period as the game ends with the home team winning 2 - 1. No third period comeback for the Seattle Bears. No goals in the third period for either teams. Seattle outshot Los Angeles 10 to 9 in the period with Art Vandelay shutting the door. 3 Stars of the game (as voted by the commentators at the game) 1 - Art Vandelay (LAS) - 32 saves on 33 shots, 97.0% Save% for the 1st win of S86 2 - Sirdsvaldis Miglaskems (LAS) - 1 goal, 13 shots, 3 hits, 3 shot blocks, 13 of 19 face off wins 3 - Poopy Peepants (LAS) - 2 assists, 1 shot, 1 hit, 1 shot block, +1 Honourably Mentioned: Dusty Wilson (SEA) made 32 saves of 34 shots, good for 94.1% Save% Seattle went 1 for 2 on the Power Play, while Los Angeles went 1 for 4 Callum Murray @Berocka (LAS) led all skaters with 8 hits in the game [Word Count 667]
  12. S86 is up and away, we've played a week of hockey and found time to speak with Calgary Wranglers star defenseman AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment who is off to a terrific start to the season. Reporter: Hello AirRig! Good to see you! You're having a strong start to the season! How are you feeling? AG: Hello. It's been a poor start to the season. I'm not playing as expected. I have not been very good offensively or defensively, and it shows on the stats sheet. Reporter: We might be looking at a different stats sheet. You're top 10 defence in points and your team is doing well. What more are you asking for? AG: I am not expecting much. I have not played well lately. Definitely need to work on the little things and bring my game to the next level. We have lots to improve on, in both ends of the ice. Statistically, I have not been playing well. Points been average, not getting enough toughness in my game. I need to hit much more to be effective again. Just got to get back to basics. Reporter: Best of luck in the season! We look forward to seeing you dominate to your expectations! [Word count 206]
  13. Warsaw Predators Press Conference Week Ending Sunday, November 27, 2022 Answer 3 for 1 TPE, all 6 for 2 TPE. 1. We're off to a strong start to S86. Is this pace expected and sustainable? Who's ready to resign with the Predators? 2. How do you feel about your drafted VHLF team? 3. Everyone is doing great offensively and defensively, how many point per game players will we have at season end? 4. Buffy @Strider is top 10 in points as a rookie so far, will we have a ROTY for S86? 5. People were saying our defense looks weak, do we need to upgrade anything? 6. The NHL season is about quarter done, which teams have been the most surprising?
  14. Good long read, an excellent well thought out article. As someone who has not been following and doing research on each season's players and draftees, I always like to read otehr people's scouting reports. A well written and descriptive scouting report with easy to read colour coding, paragraph structuring, numbering and of course current draftee overalls. I would have to say you are overly lenient with your power rankings and pick grades but that's your opinion and I respect your scouting capabilities. Let's hope you don't disappoint and the >102% accuracy does not end up being <10.2% accurate. 9 / 10
  15. Calgary Wranglers Off Season and Season 86 Preview After a disappointing North American Conference Semi-Finals Loss to the Chicago Phoenix in Season 85, the Calgary Wranglers enter the off season with plenty of questions. How are they going to move forward after losing as the top seat with one of the most potent offenses in the VHL in Season 85? How will they solve their cap problems with youngsters in Landon Wolanin @jacobcarson877, Leandro Goncalves @leandrofg, and AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment joining Season 85 team Captain Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser as max salary players after entering their first season of their pro contracts for Season 86? Some changes must be taken during the off season and GM @Ricer13 certainly know how to trade, so let's have a look at what transpired throughout the S85 off season and what the team looks like at the S86 Training Camp. First Big Trade of the S85 Off Season for the Calgary Wranglers came as a Blockbuster as they saw long time veteran Wrangler and ex-Captain Saku Kotkakoivu @DollarAndADream and often traded Superstar veteran defender Erlantz Jokinen @jRuutu traded to the Prague Phantoms for Alfred Champagne @Anthique, Prague Phantoms' S87 1st Round Pick, Malmo Nighthawks' S86 2nd Round Pick, and Prague Phantoms' S86 2nd Round Pick. Clearly a cap moving move by GM @Ricer13. This trade left the Calgary Wranglers with a hole up front, but more importantly a big hole on the blue line and giving big defender AirRig GoodBrandSun a much bigger role as once again the primary defender for the team. AirRig GoodBrandSun was previously the go to primary defender in his rookie season in S83, and looks to have another incredible season in his 4th season pro. Trader Rice Man was not done there. GM @Ricer13 joined in on a 3-Way Trade between the Calgary Wrangers, HC Davos Dynamo, and Helsinki Titans. A massive Blockbuster Trade that involves multiple multiple draft picks going all over the place and Karl Pedersen @JeffD coming back to the Calgary Wranglers. Karl Pedersen, a rookie netminder selected in 19th Overall in S85 looks to be the back-up goaltender for the Wranglers in S86. The Calgary Wranglers part ways with their S86 1st Round Pick, their S87 3rd Round Pick, and their S88 3rd Round Pick. And once again, the trades don't stop there! GM @Ricer13 swapped earlier picked up S86 Malmo Nighthawks' S86 2nd Round Pick to London for London United's Logain Ablar @Kelsier, a veteran defender who looks to fill up an important defensive spot in the much weakened blue line, and a Free Agent to be in Kakapo Bushtit @Esso2264 . Omi Aberg @osens joins the Calgary Wranglers from Prague for a S87 4th Round Pick the following day. Omi Aberg is a veteran player who provides the Calgary Wranglers with a much needed veteran presence who have "Winning" experience. With 3 Continental Cups in their trophy cabinet at home, Omi Aberg is an excellent addition to the Wranglers' locker room. This leaves the Wranglers one more open forward spot to replace with Kakapo Bushtit testing the Free Agency waters. A trade for Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin (WOW what a mouth full) @Grape comes into play by Trader Rice Man. The Rice Man trades their S86 3rd Round Pick along with London United's 4th Round Pick to grab Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin from the Los Angeles Stars. Then a tasty trade came along for Trader Rice Man, a trade GM @Ricer13 announced as "the kind of trade that came out of nowhere… but one that I could not pass up on" (paraphrased from hidden sources in the Wranglers' organization). Trader Rice Man trades away previous pick up Alfred Champagne for Tom Creeg @Creegan610 and 3 draft picks: Malmo's S86 3rd Round Pick, HC Davos' S87 Second Round Pick, and Helsinki's S86 2nd Round Pick. Finally, Trader Rice Man finishes the S85 off season with two more picks, almost a week later. The first trade was a trade down that sent to Helsinki a 1st Round pick in the S86 draft (Warsaw's 1st round pick), with Toronto's S86 Second Round Pick and Helsinki's very own S88 Second Round Pick returning for the Calgary Wranglers. Trader Rice Man followed up with a trade with Moscow for their S86 1st round draft pick. Calgary sends to Moscow Prague's S87 1st Round Pick. The S86 draft came to follow as players were picked and the S85 off season comes to an end. S86 training camp came abruptly afterwards, with the Calgary Wranglers S86 line up taking shape. The Calgary Wranglers look to ice 4 Centers, along with 1 Right Winger and 1 Left Winger, 4 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders. C Sax Justice @Eso, D Phil Strasmore @Phil, D Marcel Janser @Morcar80, and G Ben Dahl @Ben return for the Wranglers for S86, along with the previously aforementioned stars and trade pickups. The Calgary Wranglers opening night line up looks to be like so. Landon Wolanin - Daniel Janser - Sax Justice Omi Aberg - Leandro Goncalves - Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin AirRig GoodBrandSun - Phil Strasmore Logain Ablar - Marcel Janser Ben Dahl Karl Pedersen [Total Word Count: 849]
