  2. SITR: Interview with Las Vegas Aces' GM Spartan Thanks for tuning into VHL Network, Stick In The Rink! Last week we featured S73 VHLM prospect Rhynex Entertainment, and now this week we have a special guest. Please welcome @Spartan Spartan! GM of the Las Vegas Aces, and the person who found Rhynex Entertainment! (round of applause, cheering, and a few Woops could be heard coming from the background audience) Host: Welcome Spartan! Thanks for coming in today! Spartan: Thank you! The pleasures all mine. Host: I know it must be quite busy with the start of a new season, so we'll get straight into the interview. Spartan: Thanks! Host: You had a huge hull out of the most recent draft, picking up ten players, how do you feel you did? And why do you feel that way? Do you think you could have done better? Spartan: I'm pretty excited about our draft. Our first two picks are proven VHL vets, and they're already great mentors for the young talent we brought in. Speaking of the young talent, we picked up some engaged and energetic players who are excited about the league, and developing in Vegas. I don't know what else we could have done better, and that's not really something I dwell on. The past is the past, and as a mid-season hire, I didn't have much time to change the cards dealt to me. Just made the best out of what I had, and it turned into a great class! Host: Who do you feel will be the Rookie of the Year for S73 VHLM? How about the sleepers? Who's going to shock the league? Spartan: I'd love to think that Fonzi's player, Onde Sandstorm has a pretty good shot at the award. He's coming in at one of the highest TPE levels in his draft class, and has a good cast around him. I think some sleepers could be Waters and Entertainment on LVA, also because they have some really good potential and again, a good cast of wingers around them. I think that Houston is going to come out a lot stronger than people expect. They got some good recreates in the draft and in the FA period, so they'll accumulate TPE really quickly. Host: Now that you have your team and gone through training camp, where do you see Las Vegas Aces mid-season? At the end of the season? Spartan: I don't really have much to speculate about how we'll look in the future, as our goal is always on the next two games. We take it day by day, and try to develop our players as much as possible. Regardless of our situation midseason or at the end of the season, we're going to put in 100% of our energy and commitment to the team and the players on this team. Host: You seem to have high hopes for the youngster Rhynex Entertainment, even plotting the "A" on his jersey before even his first game! What caught your eye about his performance? Spartan: I think that he showed up ready to work and had the energy to blow this league away. He came in with the right attitude even though he was traded to the team, which was phenomenal for a player that young. From experience, those are the kinds of people you want in your locker room, and vocal in there as well. The "A" is a big responsibility, but he'll be working with Sandstorm and Reynolds, so I'm confident he'll blow our expectation away! Host: The recent line ups you've submitted was quite the surprise to many! It appears you're lining up two Left Wings in Chris Reynolds and Kasey Tamm with Center Rhynex Entertainment, and two Right Wings in Onde Sandstrom and Gary Rush with Center Tim Waters. What made you choose to have such line combinations , as opposed to the more traditional Left Wing, Center, Right Wing combination? Spartan: One of the things I admired most about the wingers on this team is their flexibility and adaptability. Rush and Sandstorm had some time together last season, so I wanted to keep them together to keep that chemistry on a team that featured mostly new faces in the skater group. Reynolds is a natural LW, but Tamm has that flexibility teams love. Host: After the first two games of the season, Las Vegas finished with a Win and a Loss. What surprised you in these two games? Spartan: I think the start was mildly surprising as a whole. Saskatoon are the defending champions, but it was a pretty tight game in a 4-3 loss. San Diego was also a team many expected to be contenders, but we had a massive 6-2 win in there. Most surprising were the performances of the young centers, Entertainment and Waters, as they each notched multiple points across both games, proving the talent they've flashed in the past. Considering the center situation last year was unstable and fluctuated a bit due to the late addition of Kevin King and a slump from Remy Moreau, this is a really nice change of pace. Waters and Entertainment are phenomenal 1-2 punches, and they're just getting started. Host: I know, it is very early in the season, but how often do you suspect you will be changing up the line ups? Spartan: It will really depend on how games go. When I managed Team Canada in the S72 WJC, I changed up lines between every game. I typically try not to mess with the lines too much as long as they're working, but there's always times that Twists and I will be chatting and be like, "oh, should we try changing so and so around in the lineup, they could pair really well with this player because of their skillsets." We're always trying to improve as management, but we don't try to change things that don't need to be changed. Host: Alright! Looks like we are almost out of time. Is there any parting words you want to give to the audience and the fans out there? Spartan: Just be excited about this team. Vegas went into the S73 draft with lower expectations, and came out with a solid class geared for the future. However, these new additions to the team are a real spark and could lead to some surprises coming out of this city. We embrace the underdog mentality, so just watch the fun we'll have this season as we all grow and learn together! Host: Thank you for such a wonderful interview Spartan! We hope to have you come on again in the future! Best of luck for the season! Round of applause of GM Spartan! And that's all the time we have for today. See everyone next time on Stick In The Rink! (word count: 1,130 claims for weeks ending July 26 and Aug 2nd)
  3. Welcome back to our discussion on "S73 VHLM Dispersal Draft and how many went where?"! Previously on Part One of our discussion last week, we discussed the success of the First Round of the draft where six teams were able to find some valuable gems. The San Diego Marlins, Ottawa Lynx, Houston Bulls, Miami Marauders, Las Vegas Aces, and Saskatoon Wild were those six teams, with Miami Marauders seemingly having a massive draft with a great steal in the fifth round, along with their spectacular three selections in the first. Today, we discuss the remaining six teams, and how they fair in S73 VHLM Dispersal Draft. We don't see the seventh team to pick their first player until we reach the ninth selection of the second round, seventy-first overall, by the Halifax 21st. Wow what a fitting name and fitting draft position, could it had been a coincidence, or was this fate? Regardless, Halifax does not pick again until the 6th round, where they pick twice to finish with three selections in the draft. Minnesota Storm becomes the eighth team to pick a player in the fourth round, thirty-ninth overall. Minny picks four times in the draft, one in each round following their first pick, include the final selection of the draft, Jed Samuelsson. Yukon Rush becomes the ninth team to participate with the forty-third selection. They pick another five times for six players, with two selections each in rounds four, six, and seven. The Mississauga Hounds enters the draft by finishing the fourth round with the forty-eighth selection. They finish with five selections, finding two players in the fifth round. The eleventh team is Philadelphia Reapers, picking twice fifty-eighth and eighty-second in the Season 73 Dispersal Draft. Wait.. hold on is my eyes deceiving me? I don't see Mexico anywhere! And there we have it, only eleven teams out of the twelve teams chose to participate in the S73 VHLM Dispersal Draft! Good luck to all selected prospects and see you next year for a recap on S74! (word count 339)
  4. 1. Love to get on the ice and build some chem with veteran LW Chris Reynolds and veteran RW Onde Sandstrome. 2. 3, more of on the cool scale than weird 3. Way too hot bro, coming from the cold, cold North 4. Winning in VHLM is the same as winning elsewhere. Winning is winning, as long as my team puts in more pucks in the opposing net than we let in, I'm good. I'll start the process with team puck control from winning the opening drop 5. It's going to be a roller-coaster ride, with lots of ups and downs, as I learn through my rookie season. Going to be exciting and full of "Entertainment" 6. I really, really got to go ?, so I would dump the puck on net and crash the opposing goaltender, causing a major scrum around the net and a great fight with an opposing player. Win or lose I'll get to leave for the dressing room... free to take my dump ? Heck, it might not go as plan and go in, giving us a late game goal ?
  5. Thanks for the review! This first my first ever Media Spot, good to hear some quality feedback ?
  6. Excellent! I could definitely use these equipment recommendations from my fellow 5th round selection! Easy to read and understand, nice gear! Very descriptive video as well, very helpful learning! 7/10
  7. Amazing work Blazzer! With two interviews in one none-the-less! Great structure and format for the conversations. Could avoid repeatedly stating "Alright", Next", "I see"; sometimes may sound like you aren't engaged with feelings of boredom during the interviews. Thanks for the shout out! Good job! Keep up the good work! 8/10
  8. With the VHLM Dispersal Draft for Season 73 having come to an end, it is time to look back on the draft and see how players were distributed between the twelve teams. To begin the top dog of the draft, Center from the United States of America John Merrick, went to the San Diego Marlins. The Marlins end up drafting two more players in the first round, an amazing haul of three players! They finished with a total of eleven draftees, skipping their draft choice in the seventh round. The Ottawa Lynx found themselves with the Second Overall Pick and Second best rated player of the draft! Also adding another two players, like San Diego, the Lynx had an excellent first round. They continued strong, finishing the draft with 13 players. Houston Bulls gave up the second selection and chose third overall in the draft. Finishing their draft day with seven picks, which was led by a massive second round with three draft selections. The Miami Marauders are the third team to strike three times in the first round! In fact they stroke back-to-back, picking King and Socks fourth and fifth overall and then picking seventh overall as well! The Marauders finished the draft with twelve great players, including a massive steal in the fifth round of the draft! The Las Vegas Aces had the eighth selection in the draft. After missing out in the second round, the Aces end up choosing plenty in the later rounds to finish the draft strong with ten players, however they did miss out on a selection in the seventh round. The last unique team to select in the first round is the Saskatoon Wild, picking Norberg with the eleventh selection. Draft five in the first three rounds and ending with eight selections for the day. With that we have gone through half of the teams and their draft results for the S73 VHLM Dispersal Draft! Stay tune next week to hear the results for the remaining six teams! (Word count: 335)
  9. Oh man, when I was 13 huh.. that's quite a while ago. I guess I did a triple crown and joined 3 school teams that year.
  10. New to this, but sounds like fun! Count me in
  11. SITR: Draft Special Rhynex Entertainment Stick In The Rink is a new channel on VHL Network, where we explore the 73rd Season of VHL and it's minor associate VHLM. This week on Stick In The Rink, we are featuring young S73 VHLM draftee, Rhynex Entertainment, who has just been drafted into the VHLM. (48 words) C Rhynex Entertainment Rhynex is a highly touted Canadian prospect from the Midget Juniors. Just barely 16 years of age and already 6'0'' tall, but at 176 lbs, he will still need to gain some muscle to broad up his frame. Rhynex is a player loved by his coaches, a mega workhorse; first on the ice and last off every practice. A dream Center for most coaches with his work ethics, but definitely still a diamond in the rough as he has an unpolished skill set. Rhynex has shown to be skilled on the dot, fantastic face-offer against youths around his age. There will be a need for much improvement in his Checking, Strength, Skating, and Puck Handling. And is definitely a project in the offense and defensive zones, but he has the potential to do great things. (135 words) Leaked first hand information indicated a couple teams were highly interested in drafting Rhynex in the Season 73 VHLM draft. There were rumours of Rhynex being picked as early as the 3rd round of Season 73 VHLM draft, which would be a great achievement given how new to the amateur professional Hockey environment Rhynex is in. But with a name like Rhynex Entertainment, he is bound to provide plentiful of "Entertainment" throughout his first VHLM season and he years to come! (81 words) Alas, the draft has come and gone and a couple of surprises to be noted for Rhynex Entertainment. Skipped by teams multiple times and finally being drafted by General Manager ColeMrtz of the Mississauga Hounds in the 5th Round, 55th Overall of the Season 73 VHLM draft. Two rumoured teams that were interested in the young prospect had end up skipping on this future stud, but to be drafted 5-55 is a major accomplishment in this young man's hockey career! Just when you can feel comfortable in putting on a team jersey, Rhynex Entertainment saw on the big screen TV announcing a trade. Rhynex Entertainments stint in Mississauga has ended just like that, traded for the 57th overall selection James Bond and to the Las Vegas Aces. What a turnaround! A massive trade of incredible names! With this we saw the end of the draft with no further movement. This can only be a start of a wonderful long hockey career for Rhynex Entertainment and definitely a player to watch in the upcoming 73rd Season. (175 words) With training camp and contract negotiations coming up for the young center from Canada, things are definitely going to be a buzz. Let's see how much this kid will play in his first season in VHLM, but one thing is for certain, this youngster known as Rhynex Entertainment will be an important player in a supporting role for the Las Vegas Aces in the present and coming future.
