They are not correct. Percentages are now 5, 8 and 12.

Not to be mistaken with the current Davos star Pete Mitchell!

1) I do love that our team is full of contributors and not just a couple stars and the supporting class. There's an argument for a ton of players. 2) Honestly like 3-4. we'll have a bunch in that area though. 3) Davos has a pretty easy schedule to finish it out here but I want 2nd. 4) My assumption is it will be Davos regardless, but I want to avoid Moscow and Riga. 5) Simon will do what Simon will do. 6) I'm going Molly the Cat here

I have a Major problem with how the VHLM waiver system works
jacobcarson877 replied to nurx's topic in Media Spots
I know for a fact that this is what drove my waiver success, and I stopped doing it with the new system and immediately lost that advantage, but also wasn't going insane anymore. Glad someone is going to actually clarify that though for y'all. -
Week of May 7th! It is crazy around here in the Carson household so for the sake of getting a presser out there, here is one! 1. If your player had to play in net for a game (or for @aimkin if you had to play as a skater for a game), how would your player fare? 2. What is the best kind of yogurt? 3. If your player wasn't a hockey player, what would they be? 4. What do you feel you bring to the team? 5. What is something you hope your player can improve upon? 6. Our skaters can't hit the broad side of a barn these days. How would you train them to hit the net?

I have a Major problem with how the VHLM waiver system works
jacobcarson877 replied to nurx's topic in Media Spots
I was going to write a whole thing, but Cole said my thoughts perfectly. If waivers are going to be your primary source of player addition, then you have to be insane, and pumping your team's brand out all over the discord and the forum at all time, and ready to accept interest at any time. That isn't everyone's approach (and shouldn't be, it's not great for one's mental health), and I think a lot of the M changes recently have helped to encourage some healthier habits, which involves having more picks and reducing the amount of time one needs to be on the forum. Yeah the waiver system brings some new variables to the forefront but those will always happen even if everyone had cookie cutter logos and identical rosters. People might just like the colour green, or be from Saskatoon, or think Marauders is a cool name. -
Houston is too stacked.

Head Above the Rest: VHL Recruitment and Retention
jacobcarson877 posted a topic in VHL.com Articles
It is May and therefore I must write so my silly little players can get their silly little points. It has been interesting to see how other leagues have been handling the post-COVID recruitment death spiral. Tons of contractions and management changes, and honestly I’m impressed and surprised that the VHL has done as well as it has. I have no idea whether it was simply good planning, blind ignorance on my part or sheer dumb luck, but the VHL really has stood above the rest when it comes to recruitment, retention and general competitive consistency. Sure, some drafts are weaker than others, but the drafts are so rarely a good indicator of what the class will look like looking back on its entirety. Every trade deadline I take a look at who is retiring and recreating and outside of literally creating a new draft class from scratch last season, the drafts are full of great recreates and first gens. Maybe I just feel blessed seeing recreates again but there are tons of huge names coming back around that I’m super excited to see, and tons of first gens I’m excited to take them down a few notches. -
First goalie of the class and a banger too!

There's a name I didn't think I'd see again! Another member of the S75 Reapers returns!

1) I really struggled with it, but it is what it is, there was some really cool stuff made so obviously the problem is me. 2) 20ish years old is what I found on the internet. 3) So little of the Y2K era was good for clothing, I do think some 2000s like Disney Channel type outfits are kind of hilarious but certainly not something I could ever bring back (too many layers). 4) I most certainly struggled with it, but the TPE was approved so i will move on. 5) I am still mad that my orange shirt was lost to time because I miss it. 6) I totally understand why the Themes are always meh, because there is not a single good topic. I'd probably pick like "Achievement" or something so everyone can talk about something cool they've accomplished.

Hope everyone is getting ready to retire and recreate as a Marlin!

Since we are currently turning our focus to all things “VHL Retro” I wanted to add one more perspective to the idea. I’ve really enjoyed looking at all the great graphics and articles, and assume equally as interesting content from our podcasters. I thought about using this as an opportunity to practice some graphics again, but alas I simply do not have the time to create anything I’d moderately respect. I always try to do something for Theme Week that isn’t exactly what the point of the theme was, but kind of works. We’ve seen a ton of great content about retro history, and refamiliarized ourselves with a ton of old logos, players and teams, but this week I want to pretend we were doing this theme in 20 seasons, thus making the current era “retro”. Not many players can stand the test of time, and I want to put out some predictions as to who those players will be that we would look back at and remember in our modern retro-ified era. The most obvious player that will stand the test of time in my opinion is Daniel Janser. It has been more of a surprise when they don’t win an individual award than when they do. Add in a Cup and consistently great statistical performances, and Janser should be an era defining, and time-enduring player. The next player I think will survive the test of time is Nico Pearce. While not nearly as dominant of a player, Nico Pearce embodies the hybrid era perfectly. Being the first one to dominate with the new attributes, and putting up 90+ points nearly every season since, paired with the widespread positive presence that Spartan is around the forum, Pearce should be a name that we remember in 20+ seasons, particularly in reference to this era of the VHL. Another name I expect to hear in 20 seasons is that of Art Vandelay. Of course Art Vandelay has been one of the better goaltenders in this era, but his name carries some more power than others. The mere mention of his name can often cause a string of superfans to chant his name. Art Vandelay is more than a player, but a brand, and message, a core concept. A couple of players on the verge of breaking into this category are Ronan Lavelle and Landon Wolanin. Both following very similar career paths, both playing for very similarly talented squads, both always on the fringe of scoring awards and a constant game-breaking threat. Either one could prove in their last half of their careers that they are deserving of being remembered in the next few decades. A final addition to the list is Bo Johansson. Depreciation will hit like a truck soon, but with how much everyone misses Shindigs these days, I can’t imagine that his legacy around here won’t last, even if his player may fizzle out by the end of it all. It is not always the bet players but the best people that make the most impact.

Is it Time to replace Theme Week, or maybe kill it all together
jacobcarson877 replied to JCarson's topic in VHL.com Articles
I think Theme Week is a great opportunity for members of all kinds to get some direct and simple direction on how to approach a point task and get more bang for their buck. The amount of first gens I've seen take the leap into earning more through Theme Week is more than one might expect, and even if the themes are lame, which of course they would be, there's only so much to talk about, it is an initiative that unites the league and drives creativity through creative restraint. That's the real value. -
