The great is a small town kid who lives on a reservation in Manitoba. He grew up with a family who enjoyed watching hockey and playing hockey on the frozen ponds during the winter. Great was fascinated by people taking faceoffs and every time he was playing a game with his friends and family he always wanted to be the one taking the draws. He was always such an energetic kid he would be the first one back to his net taking pucks from other kids and he was always the first one in the opponents zone fishing for pucks. His family knew by the way he played that he was a natural born centreman. Great grew up playing minor hockey on his reservation and was always the top scorer on his team. When he was 14 years old he was playing in a tournament in Winnipeg which was a big deal for this small town team. They came in as the heavy underdogs but through hard work and the leadership skills of Great the team managed to win the tournament in dominating fashion. What this small town team didn't know is that they had one of the best young prospects in the country playing for that team. The Great didn't even realize that himself. After the tournament scouts from the Brampton Battalion spoke with Great and his family about training with them for the summer. His family agreed and he was shipped off to Brampton to get some intense summer training. This was a huge benefit to Great because when he was drafted to this Battalion team he was one of the top players right out of the gate. Great played his entire junior career with the Brampton Battalion. He was the leading scorer each year he played for them. He always led the forwards in offensive and defensive play and was a big reason as to why the Battalion were so successful during The Greats time with the team. He played so well in fact that he was being scouted to play for the VHL. Minor teams from the VHLM were keeping an eye on Great and when the time came to be drafted he was selected by the Miami Marauders. Great now has the responsibility of helping a now struggling franchise become great again. He will always look back at his junior days and attribute his success to the opportunities he got back then.
