eaglesfan036 reacted to Devise in Season 37 a Testament to the VHL!
We spend a lot of time criticising and breaking down the systems that make the VHL run. We are always looking to make changes, to keep recruitment as high as it can be so that we have little down years. But we often never look at how many great things we have done and how good this league is.

It was only September of last year that we were forced to swtich sites, things were looking grim. Sure we still had a core group of players and members, but could we ever recover? If we could recover could be try to reach the growth and potential the site used to have? But as generally goes, we slowly but surely returned to business as usual. With that "as usual" we started to pay more attention to continuing to improve the league and less attention to how much we actually have improved it.

Now we are only 3 full seasons past the move. It is amazing to me that it has only take this long to see a VHL that I will say is probably the most active and engaged than I have ever seen it in my nearly three years of being with this site.

When I was doing World Cup players it stunned me to see how many semi active to active players we have in this league. But more than that how many of them have showed up to earn capable TPE. Those of you who follow the Pajodcast might have heard me mention this stat, but we have 52 players in this league who have near or over 400 TPE. When I say near it is like 390's. That is insane. To get to 400 TPE that requires at least 4 active seasons of quality welfare as well as other things. Of course we have tons of elite players who are higher than that. But the point still remains. The changes we have made to this league are paying dividends. The amount of effort and push we have had to keep the league as busy and active as possible is showing results.

Season 37 also marked one of the biggest amounts of league parity during the regular season of any in recent VHL history. We had 8 competitive teams. 8 teams with winning records. 8 teams that on any given night could beat the best team in the league. Going further than that, look at the amount of quality starting goalies we have in this league. Currently we have all 10 teams in the VHL currently with an active goalie or a prospect who is already lined up and ready to slot in for the future. One of the most important positions in the league and we don't see a team struggling to find a player to fill the role.

Arguments could be made that the VHLM has certainly suffered from the amount of quality players who have landed in the VHL. And while those arguments don't fall on deaf ears, the point of the VHLM has always been to grow players to enhance the VHL. If anything the VHLM is running as good as it ever has because it's task is being achieved ten fold.

Ultimately I just wanted to take this opportunity state that Season 37 is a land mark one for this league. It wasn't just smoothly run from the blue team and the sim being on time. It was more than that. We have a ever expanding community of solid players. We have a large amount of quality members and active players. And we have a good support system of members who despite all this still refuse to rest on the ideas we have in place. We still look to improve this site. My hats off to everyone in the VHL for making this in my mind a fantastic place to be!

Welcome to the league! How did you hear of us?

At some point, someone from the welcoming crew will be sending you an introductory PM with a detailed explanation on how the league works. Until then, you might want to:

    Create a Player
View Games 1,2, and 3 of the Continental Cup
Look at some different Point Tasks, which are the main way to improve your player.

After the Continental Cup, the off-season will begin. You will be entered into the S38 VHLM Dispersal Draft, where a minor league team will draft your rights. You'll play in the minors this season, and next off-season will be entered into the S39 VHL Entry Draft.

eaglesfan036 reacted to d3vilsfire in Claimed:What is Wrong with KJA?
It has been a long time since we have sat down to talk with Mr. Azhishchenkov.  According to rumors, KJA has not been on good terms with his Yukon Rush GM. This is a result of his outside life affecting his work ethic. In one of our past articles, we talked about the possibility that KJA may be losing the title of “superstar” as a result of his practice hours dropping. So far in the past 3 weeks we have seen KJA only reach 13/24 practice hours. Not something that Riga Reign GM and Yukon Rush GM should be too happy about considering the fact that in KJA’s first season he was consistently getting 7/8 practice hours a week. Fortunately for us, we were able to sit down with this fading superstar to see what is going on and if his future career is now in jeopardy.

Hello Mr. Azhishchenkov, thank you for joining us. How are you doing?

Thanks, D3vs, you can just call me KJA if you wish. I am really happy to be here after so long. I am doing fine, but I have been really busy.

We could tell simply based off the rumors. Would you care to confirm any of these rumors?

Sure. The fans of both Riga, Yukon, and personal fans deserve to know why I have been “slacking” according to a bunch of critics. Though I have kept this a secret, I will now disclose it. I have enrolled in night school to get a degree in business management. Many would question what my motives are in trying to get a degree when I have such a promising future in hockey. However, I believe that there is a life after hockey and you never know when a career can be cut short. Unfortunately, I did not think that my pursuance of a degree would affect my practice hours with Yukon. Of course my first dedication is to Yukon and Riga, but I also wanted to get a degree while I am still young because at 19 years old, I do not have to worry about having a family. I did have a talk with Mr. Gow about my practice hours dropping, but he understood that it is important to pursue a degree and get an education, but he wants to make sure that my hockey growth is not being effected as a result. I totally understand his viewpoint, and I hope to be able to increase my practice hours.

Wow. It is really great to see such a young man take the initiative in dealing with his future. I think critics will be able to understand the lack of practice hours more. So what is the plan after Yukon? You currently have about 186 practice hours, and will easily be over 200 practice hours by season end. What role will you be playing in Riga?

Thank you D3vs. I hope people will begin to understand and forgive me for my lack of practice hours given the fact that I am trying to help my future when I am still young, but I should be back at my normal practice hour production in a week or two when finals are over. I have talked to GM Mike, and he has said my role as changed. As a result of a Trade Deadline acquisition, I will be most likely slotted in as a 3rd line center or a top 6 winger. This is actually okay with me, even though I was slotted as the 2nd line center before season start, as it will be my first season in the VHL and I will simply have to prove that I deserve the 2nd line center role, if not a greater role.

Well as a result of your extremely long responses, we do not have more time. Thanks for talking to us KJA, and we hope to see you improve on your practice hours and receive that degree!

Thanks again D3vs. I have worked really hard to get to the place I am in now, and I am not going to give it up easily. I want to be a number 1 center in the VHL and I will not stop until I achieve that goal. To any concerned fans, do not worry, here is the resurgence of Konstantin Jaroslav Azhishchenkov.

Thank you for those words KJA, well good day everyone!

    QUAD CITY-
With the Central Hockey League finally
coming to a close, VHLM prospect
    Lights Bokan was finally
    allowed to leave Quad City
and pack up. The CHL's Quad City Mallards
made it all the way to the finals before falling
in a six game series to the reigning champions,
the Allen Americans. However, Bokan took her game
to a whole new level in the playoffs and
proved she is a big game player. She
went from being a scratched defense women
to the Mallard's leading scorer and the league's
    top blue liner.

"I love big moments," Lights states the obvious, "I live for these
moments. You're on the grind all season
and you finally get the chance to play a game that feels
important. It's sure nice, and I hope next year my
VHLM team will be in the playoffs."

'Mrs. Playoffs' is totally over it though, and looks to lead a team to the Championships
    this time next season.

Since joining the league with the Ottawa Lynx in Season 36, Konstantin Azhishchenkov has been a humble star that has led his team in leadership and overall production. However, has his fame gotten to his head?

At the end of Season 36, KJA was reported to be talking with famed Australian youth track star, Michelle Jenneke. According to sources, he is indeed in a relationship with the Aussie and was spotted going skating with her, which she asked him to do in a separate interview. As a result, we have seen KJA's number of practice hours drastically drop. Last week we saw the player only practice 3 hours out of a possible 8 hours of practice, and this week its reported that he will have about 4-7 practice hours out of a possible 8 hours of practice. Why the sudden drop in production?

"Jenneke and I have spent a lot of time out in the town," said KJA, "I have talked to GM and he has said that as long as I continue to get practice hours in that I should be good, but I should watch out about distractions."

Michelle Jenneke also commented on her possible status change and the effects it will have on the young star.

“I really like Azi (KJA),” said Jenneke, “he is a really kind guy with a big heart, and is really dedicated to ice hockey.”

Though his practice hours have suffered, KJA’s overall production is not the slightest bit down. In his first full 72 game season, KJA had 118 points (50 goals and 68 assists) this season, which was good for 3rd on Yukon. This production has not gone unnoticed by parent team, Riga Reign.

“I recently talked to KJA,” said GM Mike, “and he will definitely be in Riga next season, just have to find a spot for him on the roster. Haha.”

So has KJA moved away from his humble self?

In recent news, it was rumored that KJA has signed a sponsorship with German car company, Audi. Though this may seem to be a stretch, KJA was seen spotted driving a beautiful Audi R8 throughout Yukon with Michelle Jenneke. There is no way at this point in his career KJA would be able to afford such a nice and expensive car, so this must be directly related to the sponsorship.

So would his new girlfriend, drop in practice hours, and new car mean he is moving away from his humble self?

"No, I do not think he is moving away from the person that we all loved. He simply is just living life and soon we will see the old KJA back," said GM Austin Gow, "especially since playoffs are going to start soon, KJA’s dedication to the best sport in the world is of the utmost importance."

We will have to wait and see if KJA stays on the shy path or takes on the spot light.
