  6. The Aces just got eliminated, effectively ending Lenny Sanderson's playing time in the VHLM. He had a pretty good run, one that lasted for almost two seasons. And along the way, during Sanderson's development, there were a bunch of fantastic people that I'm going to shout out here. Let's begin with Saskatoon, where Sanderson started his career. @Doomsday was an amazing GM, and @a_Ferk was a great AGM. Both guys played huge roles in getting me on the rails in this league, and I'll forever be thankful. The Wild were a decent team that season, and Sanderson started pretty low on the depth chart, at sub 100 TPE. In the playoffs, Sanderson broke out with 10 points in 7 games, but the Wild eventually lost in game seven to the Las Vegas Aces, Sanderson's next stop in the VHLM. The Aces drafted me 8th overall in the dispersal draft. It was a crazy one, with Houston grabbing a good portion of the whole first round. I thought I was going to the Bulls for sure, if they kept up all the trades. But @Spartan , @JigglyGumballs, and the Aces held on to one of their firsts to grab me. Las Vegas is one of the more historic and known VHLM organizations, and it was an honour to join them. We were slow out of the gates, but we turned it on about midway through the season and stole a playoff spot. Unfortunately, we ran into the Mexico City Kings, one of the hottest teams coming into the playoffs, and we got swept in what was a series that was full of overtimes and tight games. It wasn't the best way to go out, but making the playoffs was nice for sure. That pretty much sums up my VHLM career. Thanks again to all my managers, it was a real fun experience.
  7. I would love a sig for my player, Lenny Sanderson, with Nico Hischier as render. Thanks!
  8. 1. Well, disappointed that we're out but I'm glad that we kept them close 2. Mexico was a strong team and I thought we played solid. No regrets 3. Really any second round series is gonna be good. Lots of good teams 4. I don't love tea. Hot chocolate is my jam 5. Shevkov and Lund were great, they really buckled down for us to get to the playoffs. Maronen is the backbone of our team, no doubt. 6. Unfortunately, it looks like Vegas is in for a bit of a down season. Good luck to y'all, it'll be fun playing with and against you in the big leagues!
  9. 1. We've been picking it up recently, I think we'll be surprising in the playoffs 2. I'd say Prague, they've been on fire since that big trade 3. Dedicated members 4. I mean, the Reapers did that two seasons ago and won the cup the next, so I like where it's going 5. I guess medium 6. For sure.
  10. After leaving his childhood home in Antarctica when he was ten years old, Lenny Sanderson had never gone back. His parents had come up to North America, to Saskatoon and Las Vegas, multiple times over the course of those 8 years, but he had always longed to breathe the cold, fresh, pollution-free Antarctic air again. As gone into in this article, he had more or less adapted to the American and Canadian culture and way of living. With a sudden announcement of a vacation for all VHL and VHLM players, Lenny was able to realize his homecoming. When Lenny called his parents in Antarctica for the first time regarding the trip, he comically asked them if they were busy. Their response, of course; "Really, Lenny? We're in Antarctica". So right away, he got to booking a flight, which is rather difficult considering the lack of major airports in Antarctica. But the Sanderson's couldn't have been living there without some connections, so it wasn't a huge task to fly Lenny down to the Sanderson household, which looks out onto the Weddell Sea. Once he had gotten his luggage sorted out, he went on a little tour of his childhood home. He was surprised to find that the house looked a lot more like a laboratory now that he had seen actual houses in North America. He was also a little stunned by the cold, and for a moment he was wistful for the warm, sunny Las Vegas weather. But that was soon far from his mind as he rediscovered the Sanderson rink. The rink he had spent countless hours on growing up, with little to nothing else to do. It brought him loads and loads of happy flashbacks to when he was an aspiring young player, eager to get out of bed every morning and hop on the ice. After a few hours of catching up with his parents, Lenny found himself lacing up his skates to get back on to the ice that had shaped his life and career. His dad, Troy, a former hockey player himself who had used the rink in spare time, also shook the rust off of his blades to jump on the ice. A new father-son moment was born as Lenny and Troy skated, passing and shooting, for two hours. Finally, Lenny's mom called them in the house. The elder Sanderson's still had one last surprise up their sleeve. The last part of the trip started with Lenny being blindfolded and led out blindly into the cold. Suddenly, he was engulfed by warmth. He opened his eyes and was startled by the sight. It was....penguins. Hundreds of them, huddled together in this barn. His parents, amused with his confusion, spilled the beans. They had seen a waddle of penguins outside their windows, struggling to stay warm in the way below freezing temperatures. So they had started a project to have a barn built for them in the harshest winter months. It was something that was definitely unheard of before in the world. As he was putting his bags in the seaplane to return to Las Vegas, Lenny Sanderson wanted to do one thing before he left Antarctica one more. He took off his parka and some of his jackets and sat in the snow, with a not-recommended amount of clothing in the frozen wasteland, and meditated. He sat there, at peace with himself, for 10 minutes straight before Troy called him out and he finally said his goodbyes and got on the plane. It was the last time Sanderson would visit his home nation for a long time. 603 words
  11. It may be a little early, or a little late, depending how you look at it. But I'm going to go over the Aces' season, as in writing about the team itself and the players, and where I think we'll end up after everything is said and done. So, on with the article. Right now, the Aces hold the 4th and final playoff position in the Western Conference, sitting 4 points ahead of the Saskatoon Wild, after trailing them for the first chunk of the season. However, the gap between the Aces and the third place Yukon Rush is a 22 point difference, and after today's lackluster sim, it looks unlikely that we'll catch them without a miracle. But we've caught Saskatoon, and they were a good amount ahead of us, so I'm not writing us off for that just yet. As for noticeable player performances, we've definitely had a few. Evgeni Shevkov has been a beast, with 40 goals and 87 points, putting him on the league leaderboards for both of those categories. Angel Wachiure, a veteran of a couple seasons now, is also making a difference with 53 points. Free agent D signings Joakim Lund and New Player as well as top waiver signing and VHL draft prospect Rolf Fizzlebeef Jr. have also been really solid on the back end. And, of course, mainstay goalie Aksu Maronen has kept us in countless games. As for my own player, Lenny Sanderson, I've been satisfied with his performance. While I definitely expected more goals and points, 29 goals and 53 points is still respectable and I can feel relieved to know I'm helping the team. I'm excited to join the LA Stars next season, a team on the rise with a lot of younger players. 295 words
  12. 1. Yeah, even though we've been drifting into rebuild I still have hope we can pull out a playoff run 2. I think I'm doing fine, I'm glad the points are coming 3. I like the way the Aces have operated the last few seasons, where we get picks but contend at the same time, rather than rip everything apart then do a dream team. 4. Um, NHL21? 5. Star Wars. Never seen star trek, and I love star wars 6. I watched the super bowl, yes, and was surprised the bucs won. I thought the halftime show was a little odd but good
  13. 1. I think we have a decent team and we’ll pull it together eventually 2. I think we have a bit of clutch in us 3. Definitely. I think we still have weapons on offence 4. Read a book 5. Neither. Hot chocolate 6. I’d love to see an Imagine Dragons concert
  14. 1. Well considering the circumstances 2. Pretty excited. It's a great team 3. I think we'll see as the season goes on 4. Rock and AC/DC 5. Houston has a crazy good roster 6. Well, it kind of looks like it lol
  15. Yeah sorry about this, my wifi was running slow so I might have clicked the submit button more than once.
  16. Friday, January 15, 2021, will be a day to remember in the VHL career of Lenny Sanderson. The young player had one of the hardest and anxious yet exciting and rewarding nights of his life. The night started off with a draft interview with a VHL reporter, with a successful back and forth about Sanderson's present and future in the league. It was good preparation for the more abundant interviews he would receive in the VHL. He then suited up to play the gold medal game at the S75 World Juniors. Sanderson had done pretty well for a rookie at the tournament, notching 3 goals and 6 points in the round robin 8 games. But in the two playoff games he played, he showed some classic elimination clutch, scoring 2 goals in 2 games and helping Team World get revenge on Team Europe from last season and capture the coveted WJC championship. From there, it was right back to the draft. Sanderson changed into a suit and prepared for the nerve-wracking tension that is draft day. Sanderson sat through the whole first round, nervously squirming in his seat before the Los Angeles Stars called his name with the second pick of the second round. Sanderson was ecstatic as he pulled on the black and white jersey, the jersey of a team that he might represent his entire VHL career. 229 words
  17. I'm kind of glad I fell to the second round so I wouldn't have to be a BUST

  18. Lenny Sanderson Pre-Draft Interview Roughly an hour ago, VHL reporter Dalton Vergas conducted what was to be the final interview of Lenny Sanderson before he was drafted into the VHL. Dalton Vergas: Well, Lenny, the draft is in approximately 2 hours now. What's going through your mind right now? How are your nerves? Lenny Sanderson: I know this is one of the biggest moments of my life. This draft will determine where I end up for what might be my entire VHL career. To say my nerves are on edge is an understatement. Tonight will be an exciting night for me, that's for sure. I'll be watching the draft from start to finish. Vergas: In the latest VSN mock draft, which came out earlier today, you were ranked 18th overall and being picked by the Los Angeles Stars. Any thoughts on that? Sanderson: Yeah, I mean the Stars are obviously a rebuilder, so I'd love to be a big part of that. They're a pretty young team, with not too many guys in the system but they definitely have some promising prospects, and it's for sure a situation I could see myself joining. Vergas: While all this is going on, you still have your World Juniors finals tonight against Team Europe. Is it hard to focus on your play when such a big milestone looms later? Sanderson: I'm going to be totally honest, it's hard to concentrate. It's a huge game for Team World tonight, and there's a gold medal on the line. I know Zolnek @Sixersfan594, who's also on Team World, is anxious for the draft too, so knowing I'm not alone here is a good feeling. Vergas: How do you feel about your chances in the game? While Team World has been spectacular this tournament, the Europeans just pulled off a 5-3 upset of USA in the other semi finals. Sanderson: I don't care about who the guys on the other side of the rink are, I'm just going to play my game. I've been solid so far, so I think all I can do is play my game, encourage my teammates, and give it 100% every single shift. I know that sounds cliché, but I can tell you from experience, it works every time. I truly believe that's the way we've been playing and that's why we've been so successful. Vergas: Back to the draft. Looking at your stats, you really picked it up in the playoffs for Saskatoon. Do you think you raised your draft stock with your play? Sanderson: Yeah, we had a great team in Sasky this season. We weren't all that flashy, but we had great depth and good chemistry with each other. I think I played better in that series for sure, and it was a shame we had to bow out so early. Vergas: Well, you better get ready, the draft's in no time! Good luck in your world juniors game and at the draft! Sanderson: Thank you and thanks for having me here. Alrighty, the draft is in 5 minutes, so Sanderson's preparation begins now. Good luck to all draftees-to-be, and we'll see you all after the draft! 528 words
  19. 1. I knew it was going to be either them or Mexico. 2. Hell yes. That stream will decide my fate! 3. If you can tell from my profile pic, the Habs 4. Canada played terrible in the finals. USA deserved to win that game 5. Probably That Dude to be honest 6. Hockey's been shut down in Ontario, so I haven't played in a while. It isn't cold enough to make rinks, either.
  20. 1. I think going back and just trying to earn as much as possible right away would have been beneficial. 2. Neutral, I guess. Doesn't really matter to me about the playoffs after we lost. 3. I thought the Reapers had a great team and they deserved the cup. 4. Somewhere in the VHLM. 5. I'd like to win both thank you very much. 6. Haha 5/5 for sure
  21. After being knocked out in seven games by the Las Vegas Aces, Lenny Sanderson's season is over. But what a season and what a series. The Wild almost pulled off a massive comeback, going from a 3-1 deficit to forcing game seven, where the Aces ultimately beat us in overtime. And the season was great, too. The Wild captured third place in the western conference, and we had a pretty successful season overall. Sanderson is a top prospect in the VHL dispersal draft, a draft in which Sasky doesn't have a pick until the fifth round. Alas, this means that Sanderson probably won't be coming back. So I'm here to express my gratitude to the Wild organization. @Doomsday, you've been great. You showed me the ropes of the league, and I wouldn't be where I am without you. @a_Ferk, how could I forget you. Going out of your way to give us the presser link, sending me a welcome dm, it's all appreciated man. Thank you guys for helping me on my journey here. Also a thanks to some teammates(excuse me if I forget some): @Suzuki14, @dshervill, @dart, @Eso, @coochiman, @Acydburn , @yevty, @DragonFire420. Thanks for a great season, and good luck with your next teams. 205 words
  22. Review: Always gotta love the heartwarming end of season articles. Giving thanks and doing a little interview are nice touches. Spacing is good, and the bold title is great. I also like the analysis of the Marauders' next season. Great article. 9/10
  23. Review: Wow, just going to say, one of the best articles I've ever seen. Extremely well written, good spacing, new paragraphs for the quotes, and overall a great story. I love how you used your teammates, and the announcer was perfect. Everything was spot on. Love it. 10/10
