  1. not concurrently I hope, as that is rather dangerous... Enjoy your time in Bella Italia
  2. I like that you made a graphic to celebrate your players hattrick. The logo switch is neat, just the hat looks a little bit off. All in all a nice piece, 8/10
  3. I like that you used a different font for the players last name, it mixes things up. I just wished it was one which better legible with the 'busy' background. The NHL logo is too obvious for my taste it should have been fairly easy to replace it with the MIS logo. I also like that you did it in monochrome, it is less likely to go overboard with the colours. 6/10
  4. Swiss Central Gazzette Two games have been played since we last wrote from our local hockey exports. It was a double round when the teams play twice against the same opponent. This time it was the Saskatoon Wild, one of the weaker teams in the league (11th rank). However, every game starts with 0-0 and must first be won before you can add the points to your tally. In the first match, the Wild had no intention whatsoever to fall easy prey to the Reapers, as the game went into over time and Philadelphia had to work extra time to get the two points in a 6-5 win. The Reapers were the first team on the scoreboard, with only 7:33 minutes played. Dan faked a shot and passed to Sanderson, he one-touched it to Ixazaluoh who hammered it home for the 1-0. This was the only goal of the period. The second period went 3-2 to the Philadelphia team, with Laperriere (his first for the Reapers), Jones and Mursu scoring for them. Alas, the Wild did not surrender and scored three unanswered goals, two of them in power play (AL and Powers were the culprits for the respective penalties). Two minutes before the final horn, Ixazaluoh scored on the power play, assisted by Jones and Sanderson to tie the game. The sudden death was brought to the Wild by Powers who was assisted by the Janser brothers. Arpa had a rather bad day and was outperformed by Wumbo (.762 vs .846). The Reapers' power play was decent (1/3) while the penalty killing was sub-par (3/5). The three stars were C (4g/0a), Ixazaluoh (2g/1a) and Fingers (1g/3a). Marcel logged 0g, 1a and +0 Daniel had 0g, 2a and +2 to his name. In the re-match, the Reapers won by 4-1. The first period came and went with no goals scored, as both teams worked very disciplined and concentrated on the defense. In the second period, Marcel dug out the puck in the own defensive end, passed to Mursu who relayed the disc to AL, slapshot, goal. Lamb in power play, Ixazaluoh and Simeoni scored the remaining goals for the Pennsylvanian outfit. Arpa had the better of Wumbo this time with .929 vs .892. The special teams were improved as well compared to the previous match with 1/3 in power play and 3/3 in penalty kill. The three stars went to Ixazaluoh (1g/2a), AL (1g/1a) and Fingers (1g/0a). Marcel was reported with 0g, 1a and +0 Daniel noted 0g, 0a, +0 and 3 hits (most of his team) The Reapers are on track for the set goal (5th overall) and we are excited to see whether they really will do it. The Jansers stats so far: Marcel: 63gp, 13g, 38a, 51pts, -1, 46 PIM, 69 hits, 130sb, 1gwg, 6ppg Daniel: 63gp, 35g, 34a, 69pts, -10, 42 PIM, 133 hits, 25sb, 6geg, 10ppg, 1shg Please see related articles: https://vhlforum.com/topic/110021-a-tale-of-two-brothers-giant-slayers/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110044-s81-vhl-mock-draft/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110040-minion-presents-7-return-and-season-81-draft-top-ten-hottest-prospects/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110061-a-tale-of-two-brothers-three-quarters-done/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110105-daniel-janser-scouting-report/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110105-daniel-janser-scouting-report/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110113-a-tale-of-two-brothers-getting-there/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110141-a-tale-of-two-brothers-climbing-the-ladder/
  5. Swiss Central Gazzette Time flies and a lot has happened since our last article revolving around our intrepid heroes. Four games were played and the Reapers won three of them. The first match was against the Mexico City Kings, which ended 4-1 in the Reapers' favour. The first period went ended 0-0. After 4:04 minutes into the second period, AL scored his first goal for his new team assisted by Ixazaluoh and Laperriere. The Mexicans pulled one back around mid-way through the period. Powers then reinstated the one goal lead, assisted by Mursu, who redirected Daniel's astray shot into the slot during a Reapers power play. In the third period the Philadelphians put the nail into the coffin and scored two back to back goals by Bernier (TheGreat, Mursu) and Jones (Ixazaluoh). The three stars were Ixazaluoh (0g/2a), Headtop (0g/1a) and Avens (1g/0a). Frankly, we think Des Aves was robbed of a three stars nomination for his formidable .929 save rate (vs Hank's .857). The special teams were also performing with 2/2 penalty kill and 2/7 power play. Marcel was noted with 0g, 0a, +0 and 2 shots blocked (top of the team) Daniel had 0g, 1a, +0 and 3 hits (first of his team) to his name The second game was against the Saskatoon Wild and everyone expected a win from this encounter. Alas, the Wild put up a fight and won the game deservedly with 3-1. The Reapers' only goal was scored by Daniel after 27 seconds in the first. Ixazaluoh gained the puck in his defensive zone and passed the puck to his fellow D-man Sanderson. The latter noticed that Daniel has already taken off for a rush and perfectly timed the pass so that it reached Dan on the opposing blue line. Dan dodged the first defender's check (who went into the boards) and played the puck in between the second's legs, picked it up at the other end and beat Wumbo in the five hole. Unfortunately, that was all for the Reapers. Arpa saved .875 of the shots fired against him and while this is a decent performance, he was outclassed by Wumbo (.964). The three stars went to Wumbo for his impressive game (.964 saving rate), Daniel for his highlight reel goal (1g/0a) and Tentacles (1g/0a). The Reapers special teams were a mixed bag with the pk being okay (3/4) but the power play desastrous (0/6). Marcel recorded 0g, 0a, +0 and 2 PIM (Hooking, which led to a goal against) Daniel achieved 1g, 0a, +1 and 7 shots (most of his team) The third game was against the Houston Bulls and ended 3-1 for the Reapers. Still miffed about their unexpected loss, the Philadelphians came hot out of the locker room and scored after one minute, after 12 seconds of power play. It was Daniel in the slot who deflected Mursu's slapper (he received a pin point pass from JP) from the point and let Martello no time to react on the puck's change of direction. At 12:26 minutes Bernier scored the 2-0, assisted by TheGreat and Mursu. Three seconds before the end of the period, the Bulls pulled one goal back. Daniel was not happy about this change of events and hammered a slap shot home from the left face-off mark. Powers and Jones were the assistants on that rocket. Ten minutes later, the Texans scored an other goal, but after that Des Aves closed the shop and the score stood 3-2. The Reapers' netminder was slightly better than his opposite number (.905 vs .900). The Pennsylvanian team did a perfect job of shutting the Bulls' power play down (4/4) and the power play, while not extraordinary, was okay-ish (1/7), but could do with some tweaking. The three stars were awarded to Daniel (2g/0a, including the game winner), Mursu (0g/2a) and Delle Donne (1g/0a). Marcel logged 0g, 0a, +1 and 3 shots blocked (top of the team) Daniel was noted with 2g, 0a, +1 and 2 PIM (Holding, logically no goal scored in the ensuing power play) The fourth and final matchup was against the San Diego Marlins. The match was tight and ended with 4-3 for the Reapers. The game did not start well for the Philadelphian team as the Marlins scored two back-to-back goals in the first period to the Reapers none. The second period, the teams neutralized each other and no goals were scored. In the third period though the Pennsylvanians came back with a vengeance. First, Daniel scored a wrap around goal assisted by Mason and Anderson. Then TheGreat scored on billiard-pass from Marcel via the boards behind Byrne's crease (Mursu had the second assist). The Marlins reinstated the one goal lead with eight and a half minutes left in the game. Other teams would have broken under this blow to morale, but not the Reapers, they are made of sterner stuff. Sanderson in power play (assisted by everybody's favourite Guatemalan, Ixazaluoh and Jones) tied the game. While the Marlins were already settling for sudden death, Daniel delivered the coup de grace. Mursu won the puck in the neutral zone, passed to Jp, who one-touched the puck to Daniel who went through the Marlins' defense like a hot knife through butter and beat Byrne with a backhander on the far post. The win came at the price though, as the Reapers' captain Jones was sent off for an alleged 'Attempt to injure'. Des Aves saved .885 of the shots, while Byrne had a night to forget (.765). The Reapers' penalty kill was once more flawless (3/3) while their power play was unusually effective (2/3). The three stars were Daniel (2g/0a including the game winner), Sanderson (1g/1a) and Preobrazhensky (1g/0a). Marcel had 0g, 1a and +0 to his name Daniel recorded 2g, 0a, +1 and 5 shots (top of the team). We cannot help but feel that Daniel's engine is already revving on playoff mode. Apparently this opinion is shared by his team mates as the Reapers Key was awarded to him for the second time for his stint with the team. Marcel on the other hand, while being less spectacular than his older brother, is still doing the small things right and puts his body in harms way. As mentioned before with him and Ixazaluoh, the Reapers can count on two of the best shot blockers in the league. By the efforts of the last 10 games the Reapers are now on the 6th rank and with that kind of pace have even a shot to get the home ice advantage in the playoffs. The stats for the brothers are as follows: Marcel: 61gp, 13g, 36a, 49pts, -1, 46 PIM, 67 hits, 128sb, 1gwg, 6ppg Daniel: 61gp, 35g, 32a, 67pts, -12, 42 PIM, 128 hits, 25sb, 6gwg, 10ppg, 1shg Please find related articles below: https://vhlforum.com/topic/110009-vsn-s80-under-200-power-rankings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/107753-pre-draft-live-s81-class-rankings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110021-a-tale-of-two-brothers-giant-slayers/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110044-s81-vhl-mock-draft/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110040-minion-presents-7-return-and-season-81-draft-top-ten-hottest-prospects/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110061-a-tale-of-two-brothers-three-quarters-done/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110105-daniel-janser-scouting-report/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110105-daniel-janser-scouting-report/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110113-a-tale-of-two-brothers-getting-there/
  6. Swiss Central Gazzette The end of the regular season is approaching fast and the brother Janser have played an other two games since we reported last from their adventures overseas. This time they played against Mexico City Kings and the Yukon Rush. The first game was won by the Reapers with 5-3. Iaxzaluoh took a very early penalty for goalie interference. After half of the penalty was killed by the Reapers, the Kings scored the first goal of the game. However, a mere 16 seconds later, Bernier converted on Marcel's pin-point pass and made the score 1-1. At the beginning of the second, Philly scored two back-to-back goals by Jones and Lamb (the latter on a power play), before Kopeloi scored for the Kings again (also in power play). The last goal of the period went to the Reapers though when Mursu scored his 26th (and first game winning) goal of the season, assisted by Marcel and AL. The last period was a 1-1 draw and the goal for the Pennsylvanian franchise was scored by Jones assisted by Anderson. Newly acquired netminder Arpa showed a decent performance with .870 saving rate and outclassed Kings' Hank (.781). The power play was okay (1/4) the penalty kill could have been better (2/7).The three stars went to Jones (2g/1a), Kopeloi (1g/2a) and Sanderson (0g/2a). Marcel had 0g, 2a, +2 and 2 blocked shots (tied first of the team) Daniel was noted with 0g, 0a, and +2 The second game against the undisputed leader of the league was lost 7-6 in a very dramatic and hence entertaining game (not so much for the coaches, but hey not everyone can be a winner). The first period went 4-3 to the Reapers and the tides of battled shifted several times. Rush made it first on the score board, but Philadelphia answered with two consecutive goals by Bernier, assisted by Marcel and theGreat for the first as well as Mursu and Marcel on the second one, just to be equalized again. Then the Reapers scored two back-to-back goals by Bernier assisted by AL and Mursu and Sanderson, assisted Daniel and Iaxazaluoh, which Yukon answered with a goal of their own. Unfortunately, this was but the first of five goals in a row for the Alaskan team which ultimately broke the Reapers' neck. Alas, the Philadelphia team never gave up and scored two goals against nil in the last period. These goals were scored by Lamb (Dokis, Simeoni) and TheGreat (Iaxazaluoh, Marcel). The root of the defeat can be found in the special teams. While the power play was inexistent (0/6) the penalty kill was desastrous (2/5). What is a source of consolation is that the Reapers still gave the best team of the league a run for their money and that on even strength they were more than a match for the Northerners. Arpa was yet again better than his opposite number (.811 vs .806). The three stars went to Bernier (3g/0a), Marcel (0g/3a) and Mursu (0g/2a). Marcel recorded 0g, 3a, +3 and 4 PIM (double minor for roughing, which led to a power play goal) Daniel had 0g, 1a and -2 The Philadelphians cemented their 7th rank. The next matches will be against Mexico and Saskatoon and we are confident that the Reapers will reap four points from said games. The Jansers' stats are as follows: Marcel: 57gp, 13g, 35a, 48pts, -2, 44 PIM, 62 hits, 120sb (top of the league), 1gwg, 6ppg Daniel: 57gp, 30g, 31a, 61pts, -15, 40 PIM, 121 hits, 25sb, 4gwg, 8ppg, 1shg https://vhlforum.com/topic/109868-a-tale-of-two-brothers-high-honours/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110009-vsn-s80-under-200-power-rankings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/107753-pre-draft-live-s81-class-rankings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110021-a-tale-of-two-brothers-giant-slayers/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110044-s81-vhl-mock-draft/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110040-minion-presents-7-return-and-season-81-draft-top-ten-hottest-prospects https://vhlforum.com/topic/110061-a-tale-of-two-brothers-three-quarters-done/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110105-daniel-janser-scouting-report/
  7. Name: Daniel Janser Age: 18 Birthday: 7th July Hometown: Rotkreuz, Switzerland Shoots: Left Preferred Number: 11 Height: 5'8'' (173cm) Weight: 183lbs (83kg) Position: Winger/Stop-gap Defense Daniel is a defense-first winger with a scoring touch as he has scored 30 goals and 31 assists in 57 games in the VHLM. He developed from a playmaker with the Hounds (33 games, 13 goals, 21 assists) to a goal scorer with the Reapers (24 games, 17 goals, 10 assist). Despite his relative small size he is not afraid to take checks (121 so far) and considering his dedicated playstyle he doesn't take too many penalties (40 PIM as of game 57). He does occasionally block a shot, but this is not his forte. He is a very good skater with above average defensive as well as offensive tools. This makes Daniel a perfect penalty killer and he scored one shorthanded goal already. Daniel rather likes to play against the puck, but that does not mean that he does not know what to do with it, once in possession. Even though he prefers passing to shooting, he is not shy to step up to the plate if needed, evidenced by his 4 game winning goals. He will adopt any role the coach assigns to him, as he learnt to be a part of a group in the Swiss Army (Switzerland has a compulsory military service for its male citizens). Back in Switzerland he played the odd games as a defenseman, due to some injuries in that department and his coaches never had any reason to regret their decision as his skating skills as well as hockey sense compensate amply for his lack in size. He has a 'can-do' attitude and is rather silent in the locker room, he prefers to lead by example rather with words. He has a very dry sense of humor and can take a joke. On the downside is his relatively small frame (though stocky) and his inability to use it efficiently in the infights in front of the net or along the boards. Daniel does not shoot exceptionally hard, but precise. After all, 18.48% of his shots landed in net since he joined the Reapers. Which makes him one of the best snipers of the league (only players with at least 10 goals were considered for that purpose). He also has room for improvement on his face-offs as well as penalty shots and he is not very fond of playing fisticuffs. Overall, a team acquiring Daniel will get a hardworking, well rounded player who can shut down the opposing top line or provide secondary scoring. His speed and agility will open the ice either for him or his team mates and create dangerous rushes and scoring opportunities. He is also always prepared to help team mates to get better and is not too proud to take advise from players who excel in areas in which he has deficits. He is the opposite of a 'Lockerroom poison'.
  8. Swiss Central Gazzette Our Swiss Hitmen are restlessly approaching the end to the regular season, and they have a mission from their GM: to make the fifth rank their own. To do that, they faced the Vegas Aces and the Yukon Rush. The first game against SinCity they won with 6-2. The Reapers staked their claim after 13:22 minutes into the first, when JP passed to Jones, who ripped a wrist shot. Same was initially wide, but Daniel in the slot deflected it mid air to score for the 1-0 lead after 1:10 minutes of power play. In the second period, it took the Reapers only 7:02 minutes to score again. This time it was TheGreat who won a face off in the neutral zone, Marcel hovered up the puck and one-touched it with a no-look pass to Bernier, who had no difficulties to beat the Aces' netminder in the ensuing one-on-one. A mere eight minutes later, Daniel scored again in power play when he hammered from the wing Jones' pass via crossbar into the net. In the third period the freshly signed Lamb scored his first goal for the Reapers, assisted by dokis and Moinet on the 8:57 minutes mark. Five minutes later, Iaxazaluoh scored an other power play goal, assisted by dokis and Sanderson. The final goal went to the Captain who received the pass via Daniel and Iaxazaluoh to make it 6-2. A little bit surprising, Des Aves had a worse save rate (.800) than Blanchette (.860). For once, the Reapers' power play was more than efficient with 3/8 and their penalty kill impeccable (5/5). The three stars went to Daniel (2g/1a) with the game winner, Jones (1g/2a) and Iaxazaluoh (1g/1a). Daniel had 2g, 1a, +1, 8 shots (top of the team) and 6 hits (also first of the Reapers) Marcel logged 0g, 1a and +1 In the second game, the Reapers had to eat humble pie as they lost 6-2 to the Rush. Yukon came loaded out of the locker room and scored after only 1:30 minutes into the first period. They had three unanswered goals until midway of the second period the Philadelphia team in form of Mursu scored their first of the game, assisted by Bernier and Marcel. However, the Rush pulled two goals back, one of which was a short handed goal by Karjalainen and if we did not know before why the former Brigade team mate of the Janser's scored 57 goals so far, we do now. After two minutes into the third Daniel gave the Reapers a breath of hope when he scored one ugly goal on the rebound of Iaxazaluoh's shot. Alas, the Yukon team wouldn't have any shenanigans from the Reapers and sealed the deal with a power play goal with only four minutes on the clock. Des Aves had .829 against Price's .895. The power play was not only inexistent (0/5) but they were also scored against while being on a one man advantage. The penalty kill was decent with 6/7. The three stars went to Yukon players exclusively Karjalainen (1g/2a), Colors (1g/1a) and Hogan (1g/1a). Daniel recorded 1g, 0a, +1, 2 PIM (for Elbowing, with no consequences on the score board) and 6 shots (first of his team) Marcel was noted with 0g, 1a, and -1 The Reapers occupy rank 7 at the moment, but from rank 5 to 9 there is only a gap of 6 points. So no rest for the wicked and the Devil take the hindmost. The stats for the Jansers so far are as follows: Marcel: 55gp, 13g, 30a, 43pts, -7, 40 PIM, 59 hits, 115sb, 1gwg, 6ppg Daniel: 55gp, 30g, 30a, 60pts, -15, 40 PIM, 118 hits, 24sb, 4gwg, 8ppg, 1shg It appears, that several news outlets and scouting agencies have laid their eyes on Daniel's progress and performance, especially since joining a playoff-worthy team. He was rated a Top Ten draft prospect for the coming VHLE draft and some even saw him as a Top Twenty pick for the VHL draft. However, when our East Coast correspondent Saratoga Steele approached Daniel for a statement on the matter, the latter politely but firmly denied the request with the reason that he wants to focus on the remaining games and will not comment on this topic until the season comes to an end. We can hardly fault him for this and keep our fingers crossed for the Reapers, Marcel and him. https://vhlforum.com/topic/109768-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-new-dawn/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109821-a-tale-of-two-brothers-settling-in/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109868-a-tale-of-two-brothers-high-honours/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110009-vsn-s80-under-200-power-rankings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/107753-pre-draft-live-s81-class-rankings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110021-a-tale-of-two-brothers-giant-slayers/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110044-s81-vhl-mock-draft/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/110040-minion-presents-7-return-and-season-81-draft-top-ten-hottest-prospects
  9. Swiss Central Gazzette Our intrepid heroes played three games since last we reported from them. They were facing Ottawa (2nd of the league with a 33 points to the Reapers), Mexico (one rank and one point ahead) and Minnesota (3rd with 25 points difference to the Philadelphia team). Against all odds, the Reapers were able to win against the Canadian team with 5-4 in overtime. The game started badly for the Pennsylvanian outfit as the first period went to the Lynx with 2-0. However, in the second period, JP scored at 0:15 minutes the first goal for the Reapers after four seconds of power play. Simeoni won the draw, Daniel picked up the puck and redirected to JP who had a wide open net and no problems to bury the puck. At the 6:49 minutes mark Jones scored an other power play goal after 30 seconds into the one man advantage, he deflected JP's onetimer from the blue line to which Daniel provided the pass from the wing. The second period ended 3-1 and the third 1-1 which meant it was sudden death time. Sanderson took that narrative literal and scored the game winner with a nice deke on the rush after only 37 seconds into extra time. Des Aves outperformed Red Menace .871 vs .821. The Reapers power play was decent with 2/7 and the penalty kill okay-ish with 3/4. The three stars were awarded to Sanderson (1g/0a), Simeoni (1g/1a) and JP (1g/2a). Marcel logged 0g, 0a and -1 Daniel had 0g, 2a, -1 and 4 PIM (Hooking and Holding, the latter leading to a goal against) The second game was a sweep for the Reapers who won 7-0. All periods went to the Philadelphian team with 2-0, 3-0, and 2-0. Daniel scored the 3-0 2:09 minutes into the second when Jones rushed along the boards, passed back to Iaxazaluoh who one-time and Dan buried the rebound on the near post. It was Cadmael's 50th Assist of the season for Daniel's 25th goal. At 06:00 in the second Mursu scored on a missed shot from JP, who made an attemp after a backhand saucer pass from Marcel on the rush. The Reapers played cat and mouse with the Mexican defense. Only 0:39 seconds into the final period, Daniel scored again after a textbook passing relay with Powers and Jones on a wide open net. In accordance with the result, the three places of honour were swarmed by Reaper players. Jones (2g/2a) was first followed by Ayodele (2g/0a) and Des Aves, who showed a stellar performance with his shut out. The power play was 1/1 and penalty killing obviously 5/5, which is perfection in its purest form. More of that, please. Marcel recorded 0g, 1a and +1 Daniel achieved 2g, 0a, +3 and 2 PIM (Holding which logically did not lead to a goal against) Fate has a way to not let the Reapers get to highminded, as the following game against the Storm was lost 5-2. Minnesota came out hot and at the end of the first period, the score was 3-0, with the Northerners scoring two goals in power play. The second period went 1-0 to the Philadelphia with Bernier's 22nd of the season. He was fed the puck by Marcel and Mursu. Unfortunately, in the third period Storm scored two back-to-back goals. With 49 seconds left on the clock Daniel scored the final score 5-2 with a power play goal top shelf from the point after he was fed by Jones and Simeoni. The Storm won the game due to the first period and because they had twice as much attempts on goal than the Reapers (37-19). The goalies were almost on par with a slight advantage to Grubauer (.895 vs .865). The power play was on par percent wise (25% efficiency each) but the Pennsylvanians took eight minors and Minnesota only four. Marcel was noted with 0g, 1a, -1, 2 hits (tied second) and 5 shots blocked (top of the team) Daniel recorded 1g, 0a, -1 and 2 hits. Due to their Herculean efforts against Ottawa and Mexico, the Reapers stay on a playoff spot for the time being, but the Marauders are lurking on rank 9 with only one point difference and one game less played. The Jansers stats for the season as follows: Marcel: 53gp, 13g, 28a, 41pts, -7, 40 PIM, 58 hits, 113sb, 1gwg, 6ppg Daniel: 53gp, 27g, 29a, 56pts, -17, 38 PIM, 109 hits, 24sb, 3gwg, 6ppg, 1shg Daniel was ranked by VSN as one of the up and coming players for the second time and is also considered a top prospect by scouts at rank 12, Marcel is ranked 40th overall. Not bad for two rather small and defence-first players. When Saratoga Steele, our correspondent in Philadelphia approached Daniel for a statement in that respect same replied: 'I cannot say that it is not exciting that GM's and scouts appreciate my development and potential. I made huge progress since I moved to North America. However, the draft is some time in the future and at the moment I focus on the task at hand: to make the playoffs. We have some very difficult games ahead of us, and we need to collect points in order to secure one of the playoff spots as the Marauders are not far behind and they just wait for us to drop the puck. 10. For sure is, and I think I will adjust to Masu's suggestions to cut them... thanks for the feedback both of you. much appreciated.
  11. Swiss Central Gazzette The blows come in and they come in quick. Rotkreuz' most successful hockey exports have played another two games against the Aces and the Marauders respectively. The first match against the Las Vegas franchise was a close loss with a final score of 4-3. What was remarkable was that the Nevadians scored all of their four goals in a row in the first period. After that, they seemingly ran out of steam and were satisfied to nurse the 4-0 lead. Daniel was the first on of to profit from this slack and scored after a rebound from Jones who was served the puck by Iaxazaluoh. It was not a pretty goal there was a lot of chaos in front of the net, but we all know that pretty goal count as much on the score board as the ugly ones. In the second period Marcel shot from the blue line, but missed, however the puck came back from the boards to be a perfect set up for Mursu who was lurking in the slot for just such an opportunity. Midway into the third Simeoni scored the Reapers' third goal, and if the Reapers' power play would have been more efficient than it was (0/6) this could have well be a one or even two point game for the Pennsylvanians. Alas it was not. The Philadelphians even pulled Des Aves two minutes before the end but were not able to score the equalizer. The penalty killing was ok (1/4) and the goal tending was on the lower side for both teams with Des Aves' .818 vs Blanchette's .842. The three stars were John (1g/1a) and Jeremy Doe (1g/1a) as well as Mursu (1g/0a). Marcel logged 0g, 1a, +1 and 2 PIM (for Holding) Daniel was recorded with 1g, 0a, +0 and 2 PIM (for ruffling Toon's feathers (Roughing)) In the second match against the Miami team, the Reapers won 3-1. The Marauders opened the score at the 10:05 minutes mark. However the Reapers equalized the score eight minutes later, when Jones scored on Iaxazaluoh's pass. In the second, Sanderson scored in power play, assisted by TheGreat and Powers. Finally in the third it was Jones again who could tap in after Daniel faked a shot and had the D-man dive to block the shot and so opened the slot for Jones. Iaxazaluoh had the 2nd assist in this play. Des Aves showed a stellar performance with .958 vs Jarvinen's .893. The Reaper's power play was more efficient than in the previous match, though it is still lackluster (1/7) and the penalty kill was impeccable with 3/3. The three stars went to Jones (2g/0a), Des Aves for saving all but one of the 24 shots fired at his net and Iaxazaluoh (0g/2a). Marcel had 0g, 0a, +0 and 2 PIM (for Hooking) to his name Daniel was noted with 0g, 1a and +2 With the result of these two matches, the Reapers are back on a playoff spot and will face Ottawa (2nd) and Mexico (6th) next. The Janser's numbers for the season so far are: Marcel: 50gp, 13g, 26a, 39pts, -6, 40 PIM, 54 hits, 105sb, 1gwg, 6ppg Daniel: 50gp, 24g, 27a, 51pts, -18, 32 PIM, 104 hits, 24sb, 3gwg, 5ppg, 1shg https://vhlforum.com/topic/107887-marcel-jansers-junior-review/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/107696-daniel-jansers-start-into-hockey/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108027-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108060-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-warriors/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108079-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108142-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108217-a-story-of-two-brothers-games-11-and-12-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108484-a-story-of-two-brothers-its-crunch-time/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108576-a-tale-of-two-brothers-draft-day/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108998-a-tale-of-two-brothers-first-games-in-the-vhlm/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109026-a-tale-of-two-brothers-the-odyssee-continues/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109055-a-tale-of-two-brothers-choppy-sailing/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109087-a-tale-of-two-brothers-lost-at-sea/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109185-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-rocking-boat/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109209-a-tale-of-two-brothers-silver-linings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109267-a-tale-of-two-brothers-business-as-usual/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109268-a-tale-of-two-brothers-in-dire-straits/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109294-a-tale-of-two-brothers-1st-quarter-done/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109334-a-tale-of-two-brothers-close-encounters/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109416-vsn-s80-under-200-power-rankings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109429-a-tale-of-two-brothers-tsunami/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109529-phimis-s80/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109546-a-tale-of-two-brothers-wind-of-change/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109768-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-new-dawn/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109821-a-tale-of-two-brothers-settling-in/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109868-a-tale-of-two-brothers-high-honours/
  12. That is really neat. I like the lighting effects you put on the font as well as the 'crinkle' on the Jersey number (Josi Fan?). Neongreen with white is the only 'soft' no-go, I would preferred a darker/stronger hue for the number, but this is a matter of taste and I cannot fault you for that. 10/10
  13. I like the team motto on the sign. A lot of players (me included) but draft year, position, jersey number and/or team they were drafted into, which moves the focus on the player. You decided to put the focus on the team with the city in the background (which I would not have recognized, but hey I am Swiss) and the team motto. Apart from that I only noticed the 'C' which you addressed already on your own accord. 7.5/10
  14. 1. quite frankly no, I think to be successfull the PP over a season should be around 20-25% efficiency. We have that in some games but not consistently 2. There are still 24 games to be plaid and it is within our power to do it. I believe in this team and am sure we will make the playoffs. 3. I think my player gets enough icetime considering his role and position (and I have never been someone complaining about perceived lack of ice time. Just perform the way the coach has no choice but play you). 4. The last game (game 284) was a tire fire in my point of view. There is no shame attached to lose to the number one team as a botttom four team. I was just surprised that they beat us so thouroughly in all the important stats in that game. Anyways, these are not the games we need to win (though it does feel good if you do) but the games against SSK/MIS/SDM/MEX/HAL... 5. Since I am one of them (and related to another) I take a raincheck on this question, but I think everyone in the team does his/her best to pull his/her weight 6. I like the questions you ask (as long as you can deal with the answers ;)), and of course I would not know what you did in respect of scouting and how. I think you are doing good so far. 7. Penguins 8. I do not know, I have not looked into the rosters yet, but I rule out Buffalo and Seattle 9. to seek relationship advise from Al...
  15. Swiss Central Gazzette Our local hockey exports played another two games since our last article. The first match was against the Hounds, the brothers' previous club. It was a close match with the final score being 6-5 for the Reapers. The game's tide changed several times and GM @Alex_J32 must have grown a grey hair or two during the course of the match. First the Reapers scored to consecutive goals with Dokisl opening the proceedings, assisted by Marcel and Mursu. Almost 6 minutes later, Daniel scored with Jones and Sanderson dishing the puck for him. Then it was for the Hounds to perform and perform they did, with three unanswered goals in less than 90 seconds. A little over five minutes later, the Reapers scored two back-to-back goals, Daniel with his second of the night and Ayodele with his second of the season reinstated the Philadelphian lead. Mississauga pulled one back, before the Reapers scored an other two consecutive goals with Dokis and Ayodele scoring their second goals of the evening each. The final goal in the match went to the Canadian franchise, but there was not enough time left, and so the Pennsylvanian carried all the points home. The three stars went to Lospenov (2g/2a), Bedard (2g/1a) and Ayodele (2g/0a, one of which the gwg). The netminders' performance was nothing to write home about, but it was not bad either with .857 for MIS and .878 for Des Aves. The Reapers had 1/5 power play (which is okay) and 3/5 box play (which is not). Marcel showed a 0g, 1a and +0 record Daniel was 2g, 0a, and +1 The second match was against the best team in the league the Yukon Rush, which the Reapers lost ignominiously 6-1. The only daylight we see in that game's performance was Des Aves who prevented his team with a .895 saving rate from an even higher defeat (Price had .941). The East Coasters were out shot 57-17, had a 0/5 power play (non)performance and a 6/8 penalty kill success rate (which at least was average). Also the two best shot blockers in the league only managed to stop two pucks between them, and as mentioned before there was no shortage of Rush attempts. Daniel saved what dignity was left in the team this night by scoring the last goal of the game and disallowing Price his shutout with 6:43 minutes left in the game. The Reapers were clearly outclassed in almost every aspect and it is for the coaching staff now to find out whether Yukon was that good or the Reapers that bad (or a little of both). It will surprise none of our readers that all three stars were occuppied by Yukon players with Mulds (3g/0a, including the gwg) taking the lead followed by Karjalainen (1g/1a) and Colors (0g/3a). Marcel had 0g, 0a and -2 Daniel logged 1g, 0a, -1 and 27:01 minutes played (second of the team) After the two games Dan was awarded the Reaper Key, a trophy which is passed down from the previous holder to the next one for outstanding performances in the period expired since the nominator (this time Reaper's captain Mason Jones @Masu Chan) received it. Daniel was equally surprised as honoured to receive such a distinction by his peers, but he was also miffed about the loss (more about the manner it developed rather than the loss itself, Yukon is not leading the league for nothing and it is okay to lose against such a team). The Jansers stats so far in their freshman season: Marcel: 48gp, 13g, 25a, 38pts, -7, 36 PIM, 52 hits, 102sb, 1gwg, 6ppg Daniel: 48gp, 23g, 26a, 49pts, -20, 30 PIM, 101 hits, 24sb, 3gwg, 5ppg, 1shg Please find the complete saga and related articles as per below: https://vhlforum.com/topic/107887-marcel-jansers-junior-review/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/107696-daniel-jansers-start-into-hockey/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108027-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108060-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-warriors/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108079-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108142-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108217-a-story-of-two-brothers-games-11-and-12-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108484-a-story-of-two-brothers-its-crunch-time/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108576-a-tale-of-two-brothers-draft-day/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108998-a-tale-of-two-brothers-first-games-in-the-vhlm/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109026-a-tale-of-two-brothers-the-odyssee-continues/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109055-a-tale-of-two-brothers-choppy-sailing/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109087-a-tale-of-two-brothers-lost-at-sea/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109185-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-rocking-boat/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109209-a-tale-of-two-brothers-silver-linings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109267-a-tale-of-two-brothers-business-as-usual/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109268-a-tale-of-two-brothers-in-dire-straits/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109294-a-tale-of-two-brothers-1st-quarter-done/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109334-a-tale-of-two-brothers-close-encounters/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109416-vsn-s80-under-200-power-rankings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109429-a-tale-of-two-brothers-tsunami/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109529-phimis-s80/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109546-a-tale-of-two-brothers-wind-of-change/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109768-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-new-dawn/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109821-a-tale-of-two-brothers-settling-in/
  16. Swiss Central Gazzette The Jansers had a busy time since our last article and played 6 games in the interim. They played Rush, Storm, Hounds, Aces, Marlins and Halifax. The first game was against the Yukon outfit and ended with a 8-2 win for the Rush. The Alaskan team won the first and second period with 1-0 each. At 5:30 minutes into the third, during a powerplay, Marcel scored with one of his meanwhile feared slapshots from the point to make the game 2-1. Yukon drew one back, also in powerplay at 9:54 minutes. Not a minute later Bernier scored the 3-2 and kept his colours in the game. Unfortunately, Hogan with another ppg and Corvo sealed the deal for the Rush. Philadelphia gave the game away in the special teams as power play (1/7) and box play (2/4) were not up to their usual standards and against the best team in the league, this is a killer. The Reapers did a lot of things right, mind you. They played a neat defensive game for the two first periods and provoked a lot of penalties. Consequently, they gave Yukon a run for their money. Alas, this time it was not enough to come out victorious. They were not helped by the fact that Des Aves had one of his weaker days with only .833 saving rate (his average for the reapers is .887) and was bested by Price with .895. The three stars were Corvo (1g/1a), Commodus (1/0) and Mulds (1g/1a). Marcel recorded 1g, 0a, -2 and 3 blocked shots (more on that later) Daniel was more discrete with 0g, 0a and a -1 rating The second game was against Minnesota with the final score being 3-2 for the Reapers. The Philadelphian won the first period 2-1, with Simeoni and Daniel (in power play) being the scorers. Daniel created traffic in the slot and deflected Jones' shot. The second period went 1-0 to the Reapers (Sanderson scoring the goal in power play with Iaxazaluoh making the final pass). Salo scored late in the third to catch up to 3-2 but there was not enough time left on the clock for the Minnesota team to score the equalizer. Des Aves redeemed himself and saved .946 of the shots fired at him, while Grubauer only saved .824, which was not enough to drag his team to a win. The Storm even pulled their goalie with 39 seconds left in the period, but to no avail. The Reapers' power play was better (2/9) than in the previous game and so was the penalty killing (4/5). The three stars went to Sanderson (1g/0a) gwg, Des Aves (35/37 shots saved) and Daniel (1g/0a). Marcel logged 0g, 0a and -1 Daniel was the more eye catching player with 1g, 0a and +0 as well as third star The next game was against the Janser's old team, the Hounds and the Reapers came out triumphant with 7-4. The Canadian team came out of the locker room on fire and scored the first goal only 22 seconds into the game after 2 seconds of power play, hardly enough time for the umpire to drop the puck. The first period was fought with open sights in general as it ended 3-2 with the Hounds scoring the first and the last goal of the period (both in power play) and the Reapers scoring three unanswered goals (2 x Bernier, 1 x Jp). In the second period the Pennsylvanian had three consecutive goal with Daniel scoring two back-to-back goals (each time assisted by Jones and Iaxazaluoh). The goals were basically carbon copies of each other, a perfect transition on the rush, with Dan finding the holes (5 hole in the first attempt and above the blockers on the far post in the second). Marcel also contributed to the third Reapers goal in that period by setting up Mursu with a Hail Mary pass for his goal. The Hounds fought back however and score two unanswered goals, but Powers with his third goal of the season suffocated the last hope the Mississaugans had to win a point. All is not peachy though. The Reapers allowed three goals on five penalty kill situations and only scored on one out of four power plays. Luckily, they were the better team by a country mile on even strength (6-1). Both goalies were not performing to their standards with a .826 (Des Aves) and .788 (Mississauga) saving rate respectively. Daniel was named Player of the Match with 2g/0a (one of which the game winner) with Bernier (2g/0a) and Mursu (1g/1a) following suit. Marcel had 0g, 1a and a +2 rating to his name Daniel recorded 2g, 0a and +2 We asked Daniel what it felt like to be named first star against his former team. Said Daniel: 'You don't think at such things at all during a match. The coach defines a role for you which you dispose of to the best of your abilities. Apparently this was good enough tonight to be named First Star. Then it dawned on me and it felt awkward. But @N0HBDY even texted me and congratulated me to my performance. I replied that I wish it was not against them and wished him and the team best of luck (just not against us). So there is no bad blood between us. We all know that these things can happen in sports in general and hockey in particular and I think the Hounds' fans and staff would think worse of me, had I not given my all.' After their win against the Hounds it was time to face the Las Vegas Aces, which on this occasion appeared more like Queens, as the Nevada team lost clearly 6-2. The Reapers let no doubt of who the better team was that night and scored five consecutive goals. The Jansers contributed two (Dan) and one (Marcel) assists to the result. Had the Philadelphian power play not been practically inexistent (only 1/12), they could have racked up a cricket score. The penalty kill was adequate with 4/5. Des Aves was clearly better than his adversary Blanchette with .882 vs .818 saving rate. To absolutely no-one's surprised the three stars were monopolized by the East Coast team with Simeoni (3g/0a) Hattrick and game winner congratulations!, Bernier (1g/3a) and Ayodele (0g/2a). Marcel was noted with 0g, 1a and +0 Daniel logged 0g, 2a, +0, 4 hits and 4 PIM (Hooking and Holding each, none of which led to a goal against) Next up were the Marlins and again the Reapers proved to be the better team, though by the tiniest of margins (3-2 final score). The first period ended 0-0, the second with 2-2, each team scoring back to back goals. Daniel (together with Jones) assisted on Moinet first goal of the season for the 1-0 lead in power play. In the third period, it was Daniel who scored the gwg with 1:59 minutes left in the game. Byrne was called off the ice for an additional attacker, but on his way to the bench, Iaxazaluoh won the puck relayed it to Jones who one-touched it to Dan. He saw the vacant goal and the scrambling netminder who desperately tried to reach the crease again and lobbed the puck and luckily he was true on target and the puck just dropped enough to make it under the crossbar. For once, both goalies showed a good performance (Des Aves .905, Byrne .914 saving rate). And also both special teams were decent with 3/3 for the pk and 1/5 for the power play formation. The three stars were Jones (1g/2a), Wilk (1g/1a) and Xavier (1g/0a). Marcel was 0g, 0a and -1 Daniel had 1g, 1a and +0 to his name All good things must end and so logically the Reapers lost their sixth and final game (of this article of course) with 4-2. For once, neither of the Jansers were on the score board (not even for penalties). Bernier and Simeoni scored for the Philadelphians. While Des Aves' performance was not bad (.852) Tsezar's was better (.900). The Reapers' power play was weak (0/7) while their penalty killing was flawless (4/4). One could imagine that a better goalie performance as well as a more efficient power play would have tipped the scales into the Reapers' favour. The three start were made up from Yrwy (0g/3a), Von Strangle (1g/1a) and Doe (2g/0a). Marcel logged 0g, 0a and -1 Daniel recorded 0g, 0a and -1 as well To the shots blocked: with Iaxazaluoh (96) and Marcel (100, on tied first in the league) only being four blocked shots apart, the bets in the team are off as to who will win this contest. We think whoever blocks more shots, the winner clearly is Des Aves as the two defenders strive to outsuffer the other one while putting their bodies in harms way. The Jansers' stats for this season: Marcel: 46gp, 13g, 24a, 37pts, -5, 36 PIM, 51 hits, 100sb, 1gwg, 6ppg Daniel: 46gp, 20g, 26a, 46pts, -20, 30 PIM, 98 hits, 23sb, 3gwg, 5ppg, 1shg Don't miss earlier articles in/articles related to our series: https://vhlforum.com/topic/107887-marcel-jansers-junior-review/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/107696-daniel-jansers-start-into-hockey/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108027-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108060-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-warriors/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108079-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108142-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108217-a-story-of-two-brothers-games-11-and-12-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108484-a-story-of-two-brothers-its-crunch-time/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108576-a-tale-of-two-brothers-draft-day/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108998-a-tale-of-two-brothers-first-games-in-the-vhlm/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109026-a-tale-of-two-brothers-the-odyssee-continues/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109055-a-tale-of-two-brothers-choppy-sailing/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109087-a-tale-of-two-brothers-lost-at-sea/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109185-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-rocking-boat/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109209-a-tale-of-two-brothers-silver-linings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109267-a-tale-of-two-brothers-business-as-usual/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109268-a-tale-of-two-brothers-in-dire-straits/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109294-a-tale-of-two-brothers-1st-quarter-done/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109334-a-tale-of-two-brothers-close-encounters/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109416-vsn-s80-under-200-power-rankings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109429-a-tale-of-two-brothers-tsunami/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109529-phimis-s80/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109546-a-tale-of-two-brothers-wind-of-change/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109768-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-new-dawn/

  19. Swiss Central Gazzette Since last we met our two intrepid heroes, they were playing in three other games for their new team the Reapers. The Bulls, Rush and the Marlins were there adversaries. The Reapers lost the two first matches and won against the Californian team. After their very good entry into the new team, the brothers were not able to repeat their performances of 5 and 3 points in four games again. In the first match, which went 3-1 to Houston, neither of the Jansers appeared on the scoreboard. Marcel even took a double minor for highsticking, which led to Wilson's 3-1 in the third and put a nail in the Reapers' coffin. Dokis scored the only goal for the Philadelphia team in the second period and was assisted by Ayodele and Iaxazaluoh. The game became a battle of the goalies with Des Aves recording a solid .903 and Hroch an even better .964. As the former Brigade netminder stole the points almost single handedly, he deservedly was named first star of the night. Silver and Bronze went to Wilson (1g/1a) and Miglaskems (0g/2a) respectively. The Reapers' special teams were okayish with 1/5 in power play and 3/4 for the penalty killing units. Marcel logged 0g, 0a, -1 and 6 PIM (2x High Sticking, 1x Hooking) Daniel recorded 0g, 0a, +0 and 2 PIM (for Tripping, no effect on the score) The second match against Yukon ended 5-2 for the Alaskan team. Marcel had an assist to Dokis' 1-0 2:11 minutes into the game. After that, only Yukon was on the score board with 5 unanswered goals. The final goal in this match was scored by Iaxazaluoh 16:12 minutes into the third, which was too little, too late to change the outcome of the game. Accordingly, the lime light was monopolized by Rush players with Colors (1g/1a), Meridius (0g/2a) and Leduc (0g/2a) being named the three stars of the night. The Des Aves showed a .857 saving rate and was bested by Price's .926. The special teams were ok in terms of penalty killing (3/4) and rather disappointing for the power play (1/8). Especially the latter will not suffice to gain points in games against top teams like the Rush. Marcel went 0g, 1a, +0 and 3 shots blocked (first of the team) Daniel logged 0g, 0a and -2 The third showdown against the Marlins was 5-4 with Marcel scoring the game winner with one of his signature slap shots from the blue line. It was a roller coaster of a game with San Diego scoring the first goal of the game, only to be scored against three times in a row. They showed morale though and scored three consecutive games of their own. The Reaper's reply to this Herculean effort was two goals in the same period, which ultimately decided the game. The goalkeeping on either side had room for improvement with .800 (Byrne) and .871 (Des Aves) respectively. The Philadelphian special teams showed improvement with 2/5 in power play and 3/3 on the penalty killing. The three stars were Wilk (2g/0a), Dokis (0g/3a) and Zubov (0g/1a). Marcel had a 1g, 0a, +0 record. Daniel had 0g, 0a, -2 and 2 PIM (Interference, no goal scored against the Reapers) to his name. The Swiss' stats are as follows for the season so far: Marcel: 40gp, 12g, 22a, 34pts, -2, 36 PIM, 47 hits, 93sb (second of the league), 1gwg, 5ppg Daniel: 40gp, 16g, 23a, 39pts, -20, 28 PIM, 85 hits, 21sb, 1gwg, 4ppg and 1shg We will keep our readers updated on the Janser's quest for glory. 20. Swiss Central Gazzette We asked our local VHLM export Daniel Janser what his plans are after his developing player career. Apparently he is already contemplating his future, as he gave us the following reply: 'I will attend sports management courses while still playing on a professional level. One never knows when a career such as mine comes to an end. Bobby Orr is but one example where injuries led to a premature career end. Once I retire from playing hockey, I will buy me an explorer yacht. Something like a Nordhavn 148 and make a 2 year world tour with my brother, sister and the rest of the family. Some of the stops which I already 'bucketlisted' will be Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, the Mediterranean, the Bermudas, Antarctica, Australia, Canada, the US (both coasts each), Hawai'i. I am sure more destinations will come to my mind, there is still plenty of time after all. Once back I would like to be a coach or GM of a smaller team and pass on my experience and encourage young players to pursue their dreams. It would be amazing to contribute to the success of the next generation's player and to see them conquering the VHL. I also have plans to found an academy for kids who do not have the financial means to play hockey and to help them to develop their skating and other skills. Of course marriage and kids are always an option and it will be interesting to see what sports (if any at all) they dip their toes into. Should I be ever tired of hockey I could still learn how to fix/restore vintage cars, as I like the classic muscle cars (even though it is irresponsible nowadays to drive a fuel guzzler such as these). I also play with the thought of getting a pilot's license as I am fascinated by aviation as well. There is so much to do in the life after hockey. Whatever I end up doing, I want to enjoy myself and only do what I have a passion for and I want to give back to the community and to the people who helped me along my way, such as my parents, my siblings and the coaches who encouraged me. I want to learn an instrument, preferably E-Guitar and build a house back in Switzerland (maybe converting an old farmstead, so I can keep my family close). I could also imagine to 'join the dark side' and start a refereeing career. I have the highest respect to the refs as they have to take splitsecond decisions without really participating in the game but still being a crucial part of the game. It is always easy as a spectator to make 'the right' decision with all the different angles and super-slo-mo's on the video cube. But it is not an easy job to make the calls when they happen and being surrounded by 12 ripped, adrenaline fuelled athletes who are not always ok with the your decisions/interpretation of the rulebook. In short: I am sure I will not be bored after having retired from playing hockey.'
  21. A different hue this time, same mug shot (unfortunately not many pictures of my favourite player around to experiment with)
  22. Overall not bad, the logo swap is a little 'rough on the edges' but you are still learning so not a biggie... I would have chosen a different font for your text it looks it would have been more suitable for the Reapers or any other 'supernatural' franchise as it reminds me of 'Stories from the Crypt'. I'd give it a 7/10
  23. Overall really nice graphic. Just a few points to consider (and that is high level 'complaining'), the Islanders logo on the helmet is still recognizable... if it is too trick to replace with the respective team logo, I recommend to 'overpaint' it. The number on the back looks odd (but maybe that is only my perception and I could not achieve the level of 'crumpledness' you did). I like the font of the name and if you used a different colour for the font than the lightning it would be perfect (I had to second guess the name). Of course if you wanted to keep the amount of hues limited this is fine as well. 9/10
  24. 1. In the last week we've added several players from waivers, what impact do you expect them to have this season? We have a pretty stacked roster and I hope every player will make an impact according to their role. 2. Currently we sit in 9th place in the league and are trending in the right direction, are you happy with the team's performance? Coming from the Hounds that is a big improvement (no offence to the Hounds or their management). I think everything is possible if you reach the playoffs (which we have realistic chances to do) 3. We're officially 1/4 of the way through the season, what player on the roster has impressed you the most? Iaxazluoh 4. What team do you think is our biggest rival and why? Halifax because we are only a couple of goals apart 5. What team has been the biggest surprise to you this season? The Hounds I really did not expect the rebuild to be so painful for them. 6. How has your player been performing so far? On the scoring side better than I expected being a grinder and all, unfortunately it was not enough to help the team win games. 7. What song should be our goal song? Don't fear the reaper (Blue Oyster Cult) 8. Is water wet? only between 0-100 degrees Centigrade (at sealevel) 9. What is one thing the VHLM or myslef could improve upon? cannot think of anything, but I am sure to let you know, should I find something
  25. Swiss Central Gazzette Since we last reported from our overseas hockey exports, a lot has happened. The Hounds lost another 8 games with the Janser brothers in their roster and for reasons which will become obvious in the course of this article we will not go into further details on the games themselves. Here are the stats for the Jansers thus far for the Mississauga franchise. Marcel: 33gp, 10g, 19a, 29pts, -1, 28 PIM, 41 hits, 83sb, 5ppg Daniel: 33gp, 13g, 21a, 34pts, -18, 18 PIM, 68 hits, 19sb, 4ppg, 1 gwg After the thirty-third game for the Hounds, the Hounds GM @N0HBDY, called the brothers into his office and told them that they were traded for S81 picks to the Reapers. He also mentioned that it is not their lack of commitment or a disappointment on the management's side in regards of the Janser's performance/development. The reason for the trade was 1. to give the brothers a better shot at a trophy this season and 2. to tank picks for next season. When Jean-Luc Lieuxperroux approached the Rotkreuz natives for a statement, they replied as follows: Daniel: 'We would have stayed with the Hounds of course and do whatever we could to turn the ship around so to speak. But N0HBDY explained to us, that apart from giving us a shot at the playoffs, the Hounds need the picks for a rebuild next year.' Marcel added: 'Therefore, if this is for the best for the Hounds, then this is what the management has to do. We are tankful for the trust they put in us and the development we were able to make during our time with the Hounds. We only wish the team and the management all the best.' Only one day later the Jansers were sitting in the plane to report for duty with the Reaper's organization in Philadelphia. After a brief meet and greet, the brothers joined the first training session and had the first matches already the same night. The first match against Halifax ended 5-4 in the Reaper's favour. It took Daniel only 4:51 minutes to score the first point for his new team when he assisted to Sanderson's 1-0. Other than that the brothers kept a low profile, which is not real surprising, considering the circumstances. One thing to mention is that Jones was sent prematurely to the locker room by the refs for running his mouth towards them. The game was 4-4 at regulation time and the sudden death did not decide the match either. Therefore, the shootout decided over the additional point, with the better end for the Reapers (Mursu and Dokis converted both and Des Aves saved both Halifax attempts). The goalkeeping was in favour of the 21st with .902 vs .826 as was the special teams (Philly had 2/3 penalty kill and 0/7 in the powerplay). The three stars of the match were awarded to Yrwy (3g/0a), Bernier (2g/0a) and Hagel (0g/3a). Marcel logged 0g, 0a, +0 Daniel had 0g, 1a, +0, 3 hits (top of the team) and 26:14 minutes (3rd of the team) to his name. The second match was against the Marlins with 5-2 being the final score. This time it was Marcel who scored the first time with one of his signature slapshots from the blue line (assisted by Powers and Mursu) for the 2-1. in the second period he returned the favour and assisted Mursu in his goal for the 4-1 lead. Des Aves showed a stellar performance with a whopping .931 saving rate. The Reapers' power play was lack luster (1/7) but the penalty kill was flawless (4/4). The lime light was hogged by the Philadelphia team with Mursu, Simeoni and Marcel with 1g/1a each. Marcel recorded 1g, 1a, +2, 2 PIM for hooking (which obviously did not result into a goal scored against the Reapers) and 1 shot blocked Daniel had 0g, 0a, -1, 6 hits (2nd of the team and 1st of the forwards), 1 shot blocked The third match was against the Wild with a 7-3 final score. The first period went 1-0 to the Saskatoon team and only 2:17 into the second period the lead 2-0. Then it was Daniel's time to shine. He first scored an even strength goal on a textbook transition into the five hole, assisted by Moinet and Jp at the 6:30 minutes mark. Only six minutes later while penalty killing a minor Jp took for hooking, he rushed a puck Ixazaluoh shot out of the defence zone. Dan was faster than the opposition, which was in the course of changing their blueliners, went one-on-one with the Wild's netminder and buried the puck top shelf. This was the first short handed goal in his career and it was highlight reel material. With only 17 seconds left in the second period he made a perfectly timed 40 yard pass to TheGreat which had no problems to deke around the netminder and score the 3-2. Dan's work was not done yet, though. He scored the final goal of the match at 10:15 minutes into the third with a tap in after circling the net and receiving a one touch pass by Ixazaluoh. The first hat-trick of his career. Des Aves was clearly better than his opposite number (.875 vs .708), while the special teams were a mixed bag (5/5 for the penalty kill with one shg scored and 0/4 for the power play). The three stars were all Reapers with Daniel (3g/1a), Iaxazaluoh (0g/4a) and Moinet (0g/3a). Marcel recorded 0g, 0a, -1 Daniel logged 3g, 1a, +4 The final match went to the Houston Bulls with a score of 5-2. The first and the third period went to the Texan team with 2-0 and 3-0 respectively, while the Reapers claimed the middle period 2-0. Marcel had an assist on Mursu's 3-1. Daniel took to minors for interference and high sticking respectively, luckily with no consequences on the scoreboard. Houston's Hroch outperformed Des Aves with .913 vs .848. The Reapers' penalty kill was as efficient (6/6) as their power play was not (0/2). The three stars went to King (2g/2a), Miglaskems (1g/3a) and Elsby (0g/2a). Marcel had 0g, 1a, -1 Daniel recored 0g, 0a, -1 and 4 PIM The Swiss Hitmen's stats for the whole season are as follows: Marcel: 37gp, 11g, 21a, -1, 30 PIM, 44 hits, 89sb, 5ppg Daniel: 37gp, 16g, 23a, -16, 22 PIM, 78 hits, 21sb, 4ppg, 1shg, 1gwg Please also find related articles: https://vhlforum.com/topic/107887-marcel-jansers-junior-review/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/107696-daniel-jansers-start-into-hockey/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108027-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108060-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-warriors/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108079-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette-brigade-royals/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108142-a-story-of-two-brothers-game-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108217-a-story-of-two-brothers-games-11-and-12-review-in-the-swiss-central-gazette/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108484-a-story-of-two-brothers-its-crunch-time/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108576-a-tale-of-two-brothers-draft-day/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/108998-a-tale-of-two-brothers-first-games-in-the-vhlm/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109026-a-tale-of-two-brothers-the-odyssee-continues/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109055-a-tale-of-two-brothers-choppy-sailing/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109087-a-tale-of-two-brothers-lost-at-sea/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109185-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-rocking-boat/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109209-a-tale-of-two-brothers-silver-linings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109267-a-tale-of-two-brothers-business-as-usual/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109268-a-tale-of-two-brothers-in-dire-straits/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109294-a-tale-of-two-brothers-1st-quarter-done/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109334-a-tale-of-two-brothers-close-encounters/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109416-vsn-s80-under-200-power-rankings/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109429-a-tale-of-two-brothers-tsunami/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/109529-phimis-s80/
