Wayne Gretzky is undoubtedly the best hockey player to ever play the game and as we all know, you don't get to that level without putting in a lot of hard work. However, there have been concerns raised as to how Gretzky is going about "improving" himself while he makes his comeback from 17 broken everythings. The first of these concerns came following Wayne Gretzky's interview with NBC Radio (which is absolutely a thing, I didn't just put a large american broadcasting network in front of Radio and hope that it's a thing) which was all going perfectly fine and Wayne Gretzky was perfectly cooperative and charming interacting with the hosts. However after one of the hosts seemed to be indicating they were ending the interview after a 35 minute interview, Gretzky flipped out. He yelled out "How the fuck am I supposed to improve with a 35 minute podcast, are you fucking kidding me? We've got three people here, we need to go for fucking 40 mins you fucking shit-for-brains sack of shit!" That drama did lead to the interview going for 40 minutes and Gretzky was ecstatic after that was reached, seemingly unaware of the state of shock he had sent the rest of the recording studio into. There were then reports about Wayne Gretzky suplexing an 8 year old child in the streets of San Diego and taking the child's iPad. Gret\zky, seemingly unaware that he had badly hurt the child, then proceeded to type on the iPad and when confronted by strangers about what he'd done to the child said "Listen here shit sandwiches! It's Sunday, I need to get my 150 words in otherwise how the fuck am I going to improve, huh? You wouldn't know because you aren't an athlete, you aren't at my level! Fuck you and fuck off!" Once Gretzky had completed his task, he was once again very happy and gleefully gave the child back his iPad, although the child wasn't able to respond at the time given the amount of pain they were in having broken their back. Finally Wayne Gretzky was seen in the betting shops of Las Vegas betting on VHL, VHLE and VHLM teams were going to win in the coming week. When he was confronted by fellow betters as to the legalities of betting on games within his sport and even his own league, Gretzky was furious. He yelled "Look here dumbass of dumbasses! This is uncapped ok? Uncapped! Do you understand what that means? That means, shitbag, that this is the only way that I'm going to get ahead of my competition! If I don't do this, I'm just a norm-max capping dickhead, do you think Wayne Gretzky is just a norm-max capping dickhead? Huh?!" While we didn't get any formal written reports on other actions he's partaken in, there are other reports suggesting he went to local art galleries and called everyone's work inadequate and participating in local pub trivia then threw a tantrum when he got a question wrong saying he'd need to do a Game Recap to make up for it.

In fairness to Grape, actually the complete opposite. They were the only VHLM GM to send me a PM before my VHLM draft.

Wayne Gretzky was born to a couple of people who were far too happy to be in each other’s company at some point in 1961 and it was clear from the moment that he was born, this child was going to be special. However regarding what he would be special at, it wasn’t clear at all. Three years post birth, a time period which interestingly also saw Wayne Gretzky improve from 0 years old to 3 years old in the same time-frame, Gretzky had already emerged as one of the top Jenga players in the world, participating on the international stage representing Canada in the World Jenga Games. Ultimately, their first tournament appearance was considered a colossal failure, going out in the opening round of the tournament and left Wayne Gretzky utterly shaken to the point where, had he been familiar with the term “Fuck This Shit” at this age, he undoubtedly would have said that. However, this moment of darkness in this young child’s life still led them towards the light. As is common practice amongst many organizations, hockey scouts were on hand at the World Jenga Games to try to lure potential stars away from the much more prominent Jenga scene with the promises of riches in the National Hockey League. Wayne Gretzky, who initially said of hockey in the lead-up to the World Jenga Games “It’s a fake sport for lame people”, had a change of mind after having his soul wrenched from his young heart at the tournament and decided to enter the 1965 NHL Draft at 4 years old and went on to be the first overall pick in that draft due to lack of players in the draft along with the insane potential that Wayne Gretzky possessed. The team Wayne Gretzky went to in the draft was the Edmonton Oilers, who absolutely existed in 1965, and he played hockey with them for all of the next 35 years without the Oilers even having a single consideration for trading Wayne Gretzky as they knew full well that Wayne Gretzky was the best hockey player of all time from the moment he first stepped onto the ice for the team at 5 years old. I could go into every single accolade that Gretzky earned as a member of the Oilers, but that would wind up having this article go on for 3000 words and I only need 800, so to break it down more, he was pretty fucking phenomenal, winning every award possible and every Stanley Cup to the point where, in 1999, the NHL had to do the previously unthinkable and ask Wayne Gretzky to step away from the league. The reason for this was simple, the 1999 NHL season consisted of only two teams because every other team left the league because of how good Wayne Gretzky was with the Oilers and how singularly dominant the Oilers had become. That other team in the league in 1999 was the Los Angeles Kings, who in a last gasp effort to keep Gretzky in the league offered Wayne Gretzky the presidency of Canada and the United States combined to move to the Kings. However, Gretzky refused, bluntly stating “The Kings are a garbage franchise, I’ll never play for them, not a fucking chance”. This denial of a move to the Kings ultimately meant that Wayne Gretzky had to leave the league and, basically, the hockey world. So what did he do in between 1999 and entering the VHL in 2099 (canonically)? Well, first of, we should probably address the fact that Wayne Gretzky should be dead at this point right? I mean he’s well over 100 years old, what is he still doing here, let alone lacing up skates for one more go in the VHL? Well, that is a very simple case of Wayne Gretzky finding the Obsidian Life-Giving Amulet on a hiking excursion in Peru. This amulet gave Wayne Gretzky immortality and the ability to stay at his current age, so long as he held the Life-Giving Amulet, which it is vastly important to point out was Obsidian in both colour and material. This led to several previously impossible feats being made possible by the now-immortal Wayne Gretzky; in 2030, he became the first man to hike directly to the Moon. In 2042, Wayne Gretzky set up residence in the core of the Earth and subsequently introduced the human race to the gnomes who dwelled in the core. In 2060, Gretzky improved upon his original trip and became the first man to swim to the Moon. However despite all of this, his desire to continue to play hockey was still there and, in 2099, Wayne Gretzky made the most heroic return of all time and entered into the Season 92 VHL Draft. Everyone was incredibly excited, and then Wayne Gretzky broke his everything. And then everyone was sad. But he recovered, albeit after 42 more broken everythings, and is now ready to take over the hockey world once more!

Wayne Gretzky Prospect Scouting Report
MubbleFubbles replied to MubbleFubbles's topic in Prospect Scouting Report
It's in the updater queue as we speak -
Name: Wayne Gretzky Age: 142 (Canonically) Nationality: Canadian Position: C Wayne Gretzky is the greatest hockey player of all time. That could be, and perhaps would have been, all I would have had to have written in this Prospect Scouting report to give you everything you needed to know about Wayne Gretzky. However, times have changed. Wayne Gretzky, through a myriad of broken everythings, is not the player you once knew. That’s not to say that he cannot get back to being the player he once was, but this Scouting Report will go through what you need to know about the current Wayne Gretzky situation. Pros Experience – Let’s put it this way, no-one in the history of the VHL has entered the league with more personal and team awards in other hockey areas as Wayne Gretzky. Wayne Gretzky has probably forgotten about more trophy or award wins than 90% of the VHL’s player base has ever won. That experience could provide a huge boost to any locker room. Work Ethic – While it’s been a tough time recently for Wayne Gretzky to display it, once he is ready to go, he will be able to show once more that his commitment to improving and becoming the best player that he can possibility be is unmatched across the entire league. Scoring – While a lot of Wayne Gretzky’s game has been affected through the injuries, his shooting capabilities and eye for goal have not actually decreased all that much. You can still bet on Wayne Gretzky to get plenty of goals once he sets foot back on the ice. Cons Playmaking – Early training sessions in the lead-up to Wayne Gretzky’s return seem to indicate that his once immaculate playmaking ability has near evaporated into thin air. It’s unclear whether he will get this back over time, but given he still has excellent scoring, he may elect to just stick to what he currently does best for the foreseeable future. Skating – Another element of Wayne Gretzky’s game that hasn’t yet returned is his skating ability. In early training sessions, he has been struggling with tight turns and even staying upright when sprinting. He’s not quite QWOP levels of struggling, but he’s definitely not where he needs to be right now if he wants to succeed in the VHL. Conditioning – A huge red flag at the minute for Wayne Gretzky is his current body durability and conditioning. It’s been well documented since Wayne Gretzky has suffered several broken everythings over the last season and a half, which prevented him from playing at all in the VHLM. The less physical VHLM will be a good place for Gretzky to recuperate while his body gets used to not being completely broken, but it remains to be seen if the much more physical VHL will just lead to Gretzky finding his way back on injured reserve.
