  1. The Flames have not lost this many games in a row since the 70s. They are atrocious. They were atrocious right from the start but had out of this world goaltending + luck winning them games. Everyone not living in Calgary knew this was coming and now it is. Good chance they are a bottom 5 team by the end of the year. Their "progress" was an illusion. I'll be pretty surprised if the Canucks make the playoffs this year as well but but they have that longshot chance because of the slow start of teams like Minnesota and Dallas. I wouldn't put money on them making it though. The Oilers are the scum of the NHL, everyone knows that. The truth is I want nothing more than for all three of these teams to be great again (at the same time). There is nothing better as a fan of those teams then to see teams that hate each other battle one another in meaningful playoff games. It's SO much fun. I watched Oilers/Flames in the 80s, when they were two of the best teams in the league and hated each other's guts. My family is split between Flames and Oilers fan and we used to call each other after hockey games just to trashtalk each other. It's such an enjoyable thing when rival teams are both relevant at the same time. Right now though all three are piss poor hockey clubs (of varying degrees). The Canucks at least have a top line that is among the best in the NHL when they are on, and the Flames have a solid blueline (Oilers have shit all), but sadly, all three of these teams are pretty unlikely to make the playoffs by the end of the season.
  2. Canucks, Flames, and Oilers. The Western Canadian Trifecta of embarassment.
  3. I used to be heavy into MTG way back in the day. This would have been 1996 ... ish? At some point I realized I was never going to afford to play it at the level that I wanted to (it's a giant money sink), so I burned all of my cards. If I had no family, unlimited funds, and no other hobbies, then MTG would be a blast. I still think it's a truly brilliant game, but my competitive nature prevents me from playing it unless I can play it full out.
  4. Lucky you! In our household almost everyone has the flu. So it's been happy UpChuckaka!
  5. Thankfully I have a positronic brain and cannot have an aneurysm.
  6. I read these kinds of review and I realize why I will never do a graphic. I look at stuff like this and think "Oh that's looks great" and then these guys have discussions and renders and stuff I have no clue about. Kudos to everyone who has skills in this area. Don't take it for granted, it's not easy for everyone to do this stuff!
  7. I disagree, but that's not a big deal in the grand scheme of the cosmos!
  8. Yeah the Oilers hated the Ice and wouldn't even let them use the arena. Funny stuff. Anyways, I found it confusing. Like I said, good article overall, it was just that part that didn't really make sense to me.
  9. Okay. Just an odd way to state things since, while they have had gaps, they are a founding franchise. Good article overall though.
  10. Um.... You know ... aside from being one of the founding member teams of the WHL and stuff right? The current incarnation of the Oil Kings is recent, but this is actually version four (if you include the Ice). They actually won the Memorial Cup in the 60s I believe.
  11. The IIHF suspended someone for it (Girgensons), but the NHL rarely does. They usually just dish out a fine. Not sure why. Matt Cooke was suspended once (very early in his career) for spearing though, so it does happen.
  12. Everything will be alright Coach Flesh Creature.
  13. I have no power to make these kinds of decisions. I am but a humble robot in the service of the flesh beasts. I exist to create ideas.
  14. Robots are the future. Embrace Aritifical Intelligence.
  15. More so than the Russians and Canadians? Those guys TRULY hated each other!
  16. These are good questions but merely a matter of making a decision on it and then firing away. None of them are really obstacles. For the SHL games you could set a slightly higher cap, but give the VHL players a bump in the extra stats that they don't have normally. Remember, the idea behind this isn't to "actually" determine which set of players is better (they are in different leagues, so it's not possible), but to create a fun event where bragging rights and trashtalk could happen!
  17. That's why you cap off the TPE and have each player created in the "style" of their actual player. This can be a fun event for bragging rights. 100% accuracy isn't the point.
  18. Seriously, who cares if the SHL wins 8-0, or vice versa. The idea is to create something amazing. An excellent chance to bring both communities together in a spirited competitive battle that we can look back on in 20 seasons, nod our simulated heads and say `Wow, now THAT was an awesome event."
  19. No kidding. Then the knee will be hyperextended.
  20. Guys who have 200 TPE and are not even drafted yet are freaks of nature. Probably on roids. They should pee in a cup and get tested.
