Greetings and welcome to my humble article on my initial experiences and interactions within the VHL community. After becoming intrigued hearing about the VHL on a youtube video, I found myself signing up with no Idea what to expect. I created my first character, set up his skills without doing much study because I'm a masochist and wanted to see how going on instinct turned out. In what felt like no time I received a comment from Nurx and found myself on the Miami Marauders, immediately after joining the discord, I'm welcomed to the team and start talking with my new team. I'm given some guides on TPE and point tasks, have a chat and learn a bit more about how the skills work. Feeling a bit daunted by the idea of tasks as I've always had a bit of a problem sharing creative attempts, I bite the bullet and post a rough attempt at a graphic, it's nothing great, horrid colour choice for text. Not long after posting it I receive some replies, the community reassuring me that the effort is what counts and offered some friendly tips on how to make improvements. Bolstered by the warmth in my initial interations I have since begun engaging more in the team discord, trying my hand at a few different point tasks. With this brief summary of my initial participation in anything VHL in mind, I'd like to take a brief moment to offer my initial impression of joining. Although somewhat nerve-wracking initally, the community was warm and open, it felt like people were genuinely excited to have someone new giving it a go. Your work doesn't have to be phenomenal, as long as your putting the energy the community in large will offer praise on your attempt and offer some areas that might help you get it how you want it. The environment I've experienced both in the team discord and on the forum is one of nurture and love for the game. it's infectious in it's own ingenious way. Well that ended up a bit longer than I intended, Thanks for your time in reading.

Dazai Buddha Dazai Buddha is a 21 year old from Geelong in Victoria, Australia. Dazai has had a passion for hockey since childhood, joining his local inline roller-hockey league at age 9, after 4 years and 3 appearances in finals Dazai decided his future was to be found on the ice. At Age 13 Dazai begun to look for a way to play on the ice and found that the nearest rink was found in Melbourne, with this information Dazai started travelling to Melbourne on weekends, while continuing to play inline hockey during the week. Dazai quickly proved to be an adaptable and talented force on his team. During his tenure with the youth ice hockey league Dazai Buddha grew to be a formidable RW with a talent for puck handling. He consistently posted high ice times and demonstrated a team first attitude with a gift for generating a strong and positive team mentality, in recognition of this he was given the role as alternate captain at age 15. Dazai thrived in this role, quickly developing into a flexible player capable of producing quality plays in any situation who consistently takes the time to help out, often boosting team work and team confidence in the process. By age 18 Dazai had proved himself to be a core team member that could be relied upon with confidence. After joining the over 18s team Dazai became a fan favourite for his upbeat attitude and propensity to help line mates shine. During his first season in the over 18s Dazai was posting good scores and high play involvement, unfortunately a week before the teams play off run would begin Dazai would take a bad check and sustain an ankle injury which would relegate him to the sidelines for most of the playoffs. Despite this Dazai kept his signature smile, resolving that if he could not play he would do his best to make it to every practice and every game regardless. The team would be taken out in the semi-finals. In the seasons since Dazai has continued his growth, striving to improve any aspects of his hockey knowledge. Through hard work, dedication and love of the game Dazai Buddha has shown a remarkable potential for growth and clear desire to both find his place in a team and flourish in it. This dedication paid off substantially in both seasons. The team making successful playoff runs both seasons despite several roster changes. Dazai Buddha enters draft eligibility this year. *might not have one it right, but I gave it a try.

1. I'm doing pretty well, 2. I think he's doing decently, I'm happy but keen to see him improve 3. For the most part, the TPE tasks seem a bit daunting at first as I'm not really creative/confident. 4. Absolutely. 5. Watching Marc-André Fleury, I miss him as a pen, but i love seeing that grin and how contagious his positivity is on a team. 6. Not really, I kick around the footy sometimes (AFL) but mostly watch the NHL and some esports.
