  1. Siyan Yasilievich Junior Showcase Tournament Recap Siyan Yasilievich was drafted 24th overall in the Junior Showcase Tournament and was also named captain to the Yukon Steel team. In the preliminaries, Siyan Yasilievich ended up putting up 6G 9A for 15 Points during the preliminaries. The Steel ended up finishing first place, and looked poised to win it all in the Junior Showcase Tournament. In the second round, the Steel went up against Team Clue, getting knocked out 3-1 in the Semi-finals, which was a bit of a disappointment for the team. Siyan in the playoffs put up 2G 5A 7PTS and a +2. We caught up with Siyan Yasilievich and asked him his thoughts on the tournament and what his future looks like heading into the VHLM Draft, to which he said, "I think I played pretty well in the Junior Showcase Tournament. I was around a point per game player and I was able to show everyone what I am truly capable of. As for the draft, I have had a couple teams contact me about being selected, but I'll be waiting for my name to be called, that's for sure!" We wish Siyan the best of luck wherever he may land, with the draft coming up in just a couple of weeks.
  2. +10 Siyan Yasilievich
  3. REVIEW: I like the idea with what you were trying to go with. First off, I think if you're going to take out the old logo, you should take a bit more time and try to get the color closer to the jersey hex color. You could then after that use the blur tool so it fits in with the jersey a bit more. Then after that, I would add the logo and blur it / add some effects so it really looks like it fits on the jersey. Next up, I would add some text and give a outline/shadow to it so it stands out. I do like the fact that you added some text at the top, but I would make it pop out more if you can. Last, I would add a generic outline to your photo if possible, as it would make your work really "pop"! Overall, I can tell you did your best on it, and with a little bit of practice, you can make a fantastic graphic. Rating: 6/10
  4. REVIEW: I like this graphic, as well.. I am the captain on it. I think you did a fantastic job with keeping the graphic simple, but well organized. I like the fact that you ended up adding the logos on each of the players and also the "C" and "A". One suggestion is that if you are going to add the logo, trying to remove the logo behind it would be a fantastic idea by just painting over it and then using the blur tool. I also would in the future try to add some shadow to the text, as it could really make the text pop out at you. You could also add some shadows to the players, but you already have an outline which looks fantastic. Overall, I love the graphic and I think you did a great job! Rating: 8/10
  5. Just spreading the love
  6. REVIEW: First off, this looks really nice as a graphic. I just want to say for the people that don't know, in the JST, the first day the fighting sliders were insane, and there was multiple people with like 60+ PIM in 5 games, it was crazy. Back on track though, I really like the layout of the graphic. First, I like the "vs" in how it has the outline and the texture for the actual text. It makes it look very nice and it's a small touch, but it really adds to the graphic. Next up, the Border with the overall text works very well together. It focuses on the middle of the graphic, which is the JST Finals. One suggestion I would do is if possible, add a shadow to the logos or the text, to make them stand out more. That is just personal preference though, but I think it would look very nice if you did it. Overall, you did a fantastic job! Rating: 8/10
  7. REVIEW: For your very first attempt at a sig, it's a great job! First off, I like the border you included, as it really makes the stand out. The background in general is pretty solid, and having the logo in the corner is a nice touch. On top of that, the effort to put in the patch at the middle of the jersey, usually where the NHL logo is really nice. To help you out, first off I would end up adding a Shadow or some sort of Outline on the text and the logo if you can. This adds depth to your sig and it will end up making the sig much more lively and better looking. Also, if you can, you can try to blend the color that you painted over with the color of the jersey and try to blur it a bit to make it look like it's the same jersey. Other then that though, this is a very solid attempt and I hope you had fun make it! Rating: 6/10
  8. 1. I am very excited to see my teammates get some much needed recognition that they deserve. 2. As I am going into the VHLM Draft, I'd love to come back to the Reapers, but honestly I'll play for anyone. 3. I am going to be trying to improve the passing and scoring skill, as I've already gotten SKA/DEF to 70. 4. To be honest, I don't know, but if I was able to get around 30-40 assists I'd be very happy, not going to lie. 6. First off, don't change the colors they look amazing. If you were to change the colors though, I'd make orange a primary color and try to see what you can do with that. 8. Buffalo Sabres. We should've had McDavid in the first place .

  10. Siyan Yasilievich - Playoff Recap and Junior Showcase Tournament Siyan Yasilievich ended up finishing the VHLM playoffs with 2 points in 12 games, and a -2. When asked about his performance, he stated, "It's my rookie season, so there's not much to say. I think I had an average season at best, but I'm still trying to get used to the style of hockey over here in America." Siyan Yasilievich will be heading into the VHLM Dispersal Draft, where he is projected to go 10th overall. We also asked him about his draft placement and if he thought it was a fair assessment of his skills, to which he said, "I could've done much better this season. I think me being 10th overall is very generous, and I could see myself going anywhere from Round 2 to Round 3 to be honest." Also, to wrap this up, Siyan Yasilievich is currently playing in the Junior Showcase Tournament, where he is the Captain for the Steel and has 5G 4A 9PTS and a +4 in 14 games.
  11. REVIEW: At first glance, I like this graphic to be honest. I think the simplistic style that you're going for works very well, and I like the text choice. There are a couple changes I would end up making though, the first change I'd make is I think I would change the background to something different, or blur the background. In my opinion, it kind of takes away a little bit from the whole picture, but it's still not too bad. Overall, I'd give this a solid 8/10 and I think with a little bit more experience and editing, you could become a great designer! Good Job!
  12. REVIEW: I really like this graphic to be honest, it is the same style that I like to go for when I create graphics. I like the fact that you have the background and the player goes over onto the black part of the graphic. This is very slick and it is very clean overall. Honestly, the only thing I would end up changing is maybe change the VHL logo to be straight instead of tilted, but regardless this is a 10/10 and beautiful. Great job!
  13. 1. I knew that we would be able to move on. Our dynamic we have on this team is just too unreal, and I think we have what it takes to go far. 2. I'm happy, even though I don't have the best stats. I have low expectations, since it's my first playoffs ever. 3. I think we'll comeback and force a Game 7, it's Reapers magic time! 6. My favorite part of the Reapers this season has been the locker room. Everyone is super active and we all have a great time talking to each other. 8. I want to come back to the Reapers in the VHLM if possible, as I'll be in the rookie draft. 9. My favorite restaurant is this place called Portillos. It has great Burgers and Hotdogs and I love to go there every time I come back from college.
  14. Siyan Yasilievich joins the Philadelphia Reapers in the VHLM **This is my first time doing a graphic like this and I also don't have Photoshop/Illustrator**
  15. Siyan Yasilievich being selected 24th Overall by the Steel in the VHLM Junior Showcase Draft
  16. Review: There is a LOT of green in this photo at first glance. I don't mind the color green, but I think having less green and maybe adding another color to suppliment it would look very nice. I would also tone down the brightness, as it could hurt some people's eyes. However, I do like the fact that you ended up taking a jersey and making it your own, with adding the logo. Overall, I'd rate this a 7/10, and you did put a lot of work into it, that I cannot take away from you.
  17. Review: Pretty solid rookie year in the VHLM, maybe I'll see you some time. For the graphic, I like the blend of your player into the background, as it helps you focus on both the player and the background in this graphic. I would suggest possibly adding a shadow to the text to make it "pop" more, or adding the Halifax 21st logo somewhere else besides on your player. Overall, it's a solid graphic and I'd rate it an 8/10! Great job!
  18. 1: I think this series is going to go 7 games. Both teams are evenly matched. 3: Silly Siyan. The reasoning for that is because he's always up to no good in the locker room xD 4: I'm sure my player would head to Russia, as that's where his family is. 6: I was going to say 0, but Siyan put up a point today. I'll say 3 points, all assists. 8: My favorite pizza is Pepperoni Deep Dish Pizza from Gino's East, a place in Chicago. 9: My favorite anime has got to be Fate Stay/Night, the animation and sound effects are legendary and I'd recommend it to anyone.
  19. We got to catch up with Philadelphia Reapers defenseman Siyan Yasilievich and asked him his thoughts on the season so far and what his expectations are heading into playoffs. Q: Siyan, this was your 10th game in the VHLM and you finally got your first point, how do you feel? A: "I'm very happy to finally get on the scoresheet, there is weight for sure lifted off my shoulders and I hope to bring more to the Reapers with the short amount of time I have left with them." Q: Continuing on with the end of your answer, you mentioned that you don't have much time left with the Reapers, do you guys feel like you can win the VHLM Cup? A: "Well, I would just say focus on one series at a time. We've got Houston round one who we have done good against, but they're going to be a tough opponent. We're going to have to play our best hockey to be able to take them down, that's for sure." Q: Last question, the draft for VHLM is not very far away, where do you see yourself getting drafted? A: "I'll be honest, I haven't paid much attention to it. I would just be happy to get selected and I would love to come back to Philadelphia, but we'll see what happens!" Thanks Siyan! Philadelphia will be starting their playoff run against Houston tonight. We'll see how they do against Houston who has been red hot the entire season.
  20. Word Count: 1022 Weeks Claimed Ending: 1/2/2022 and 1/9/2022 (Next two weeks that I'm eligible to claim)
  21. Siyan Yasilievich - The Arrival in Philadelphia and Debut The First Day: Siyan Yasilievich arrived in Philadelphia on December 28th, 2021. He ended up travelling all the way from his home town, Toksovo, Russia. When he arrived at the Philadelphia International Airport, he was immediately greeted by fans of the Reapers. Siyan was extremely impressed, as in Russia, this was not common place, so it made him immediately feel like he had a place in Philadelphia. Siyan then after that went to get his luggage and travelled to the hotel where he would be staying at for the rest of the season, as not much time remained until the playoffs, and he could be on the move after this season. When he arrived at the hotel, he checked in his bags and walked up to the third floor to get into his room. Upon opening the door, Siyan looked like a kid in a candy store, where he was in awe of how nice the rooms were. Back in Toksovo, his home town, he had never seen anything this nice, as his room was not anything special and his family wasn't well off financially. As it was late when Siyan arrived, he unpacked his bags and passed out on his new bed. The Morning Practice: The next morning Siyan woke up to head to practice for the first time with his team. Upon arriving at the Arena, he walked down to the locker room, in which he already had his own jersey and nameplate, with the nameplate reading "S. Yasilievich #98." Shortly after, he laced up for practice and went onto the ice. It was a bit difficult for Siyan, as there was a language barrier, and Siyan didn't speak very good English, and there was no Russians on the team besides him, however he understood the basic jist of things during the practice. The Coaches were extremely impressed by his speed, as he was already blowing by some of the people on the team. On top of that, he had great puck skills, and the Reapers knew immediately they had a star in the making. After practice, Siyan met the Head Coach and he couldn't understand too much what he was saying, so he just decided to smile. The Head Coach handed Siyan a piece of paper and on it, he saw his name in the lineup for tonight's games! He was surprised that he already had made the starting lineup and he was ready to get at it. He then headed into the locker room and started to get undressed. Looking around, Siyan couldn't believe that this was his future, playing hockey in the minors, and maybe one day, reaching it to the big leagues. He remembers his family and when he got gifted skates when he was young, and he was determined to not let them down. Siyan undressed and headed out of the locker room, walking to the front door of the practice facility. Leading up to the Game: Siyan after practice decided he was to try some of the food in Philadelphia, as he was going to be eating this for the next month. While he was leaving the rink, teammate Brian Kowalski came up to him and asked him if he wanted to go out and get some lunch. Siyan a young 17 year old who had no clue where anything was decided to tag along with his new teammate, and line mate, Brian Kowalski. Brian took him to a local food truck, (fancy I know), and order Siyan a Philly Cheesesteak. Siyan had no clue what this was, but upon eating it, he smiled and gave Brian a thumbs up, to which Brian laughed and a newfound friendship was born. The two then immediately packed their bags, headed to the airport, and sat next to each other on the plane ride to Houston, as they'd be taking on the Houston Bulls tonight. After the short plane ride, Siyan got off the plane, got his bags, and the team headed to the rink, determined to take on the first place Bulls who were on fire. Upon arriving to the rink, Siyan and Brian sat next to each other in the locker room and despite the language barrier, they seemed like they were having a great time. The time has come for Siyan, his VHLM debut, against the best team in the league. Nerves were definitely setting in for the young rookie, but there was a fire burning in him that nobody had ever seen before. Siyan put on his equipment, and headed on the ice for his pregame warmup. Siyan had never seen so many fans and such a huge arena, only in his dreams had he saw something like this. Siyan was skating around and noticed something unfamiliar, nobody else was on the ice with him! He looked at the tunnel to head onto the ice and saw his teammates having a chat and laughing, only realizing that his father a long time ago told him "Son, if you ever go pro and you go overseas, do not be offended if you're on the ice alone. It's something they do a lot just to prank the rookies, have a laugh with them!" He remember this and broke down laughing, and his team finally joined him on the ice for pregame warmups. Brian came over to Siyan and patted him on the back and said, "Hope you're ready, tonight's going to be a good one." Siyan remembered that Houston, the team he's up against, is the best team in the league and it would be a very difficult game for him, especially in his debut. After pregame warmups, the team went back into the locker room and prepared for the game. The Head Coach gave a speech, which Siyan understood almost none of, but he seemed determined, as it is his debut in the VHLM. Siyan threw on his new jersey, with the number #98 on the back, closed his eyes for a second, and ran onto the ice to start his career with the Philadelphia Reapers.
  22. I honestly think going the extra way would help out with the views a ton. As a person who has done podcasts/talk shows for other things, you have to get your community engaged which is a difficult thing to do sometimes. The fact in the article with the graph shows that with one episodes, the views skyrocketed means that obviously, something went right there. For people to get engaged and listening, you need to add extra to the podcast, which you talked about in your article. Overall, it was very well written and has done it's job, 9/10.
  23. Very good in depth article. I especially like the fact that it is very well organized, and easy to read. I think personally it's very interesting to see how some players develop, so I'll make sure to keep an eye out for prospects in the future! Great article, 10/10, enjoyed reading all of it!
  24. 1: Had a great break spending time with family and friends. 4: I like the color scheme, but if I was forced to change a color, I think orange would be cool. 5: It's Clutch Time, baby! 6: Well as Siyan has just arrived in Philadelphia, your guess is as good as mine LMAO. 7: I think he's more like a zombie. He's 36 years old and having his best season yet, don't know how he does it. 8: I am watching, had a blast so far. I'm rooting for the USA as I'm from there, but also rooting for some of the lower end teams.
