VHLM and Recruitment are so bad right now
TopTiddee2 replied to Zetterberg's topic in VHL League Discussion
I will say that this is a very good point made, activity and the general lack of new players is very concerning. Granted I’m not the one to talk but hopefully something happens soon so that we may see new faces -

For Fox 39 News, I'm Chris Rock. After a 1st round sweep of Halifax in the first round of the VHLM Playoffs, Jeid Rohnson wrapped up his VHLM career and did not disappoint. Drafted 32nd overall by Las Vegas, Rohnson started off his year with 18 goals and 26 assists. Following the 48th game of the season, a struggling Aces squad was desperate to make a move to bolster their future squad. Rohnson was dealt before the deadline to the Halifax 21st, and finished up Season 89 with 6 goals and 14 assists. In Season 90, Halifax was gearing up with one of the top offenses to begin the year. In this season, Rohnson went off, scoring 40 goals and adding in 69 assists in the span of 72 games, giving himself the 4th spot in the league in points, and 2nd in the assist categories. While Rohnson excelled in the regular season, Halifax struggled due to a lack of Defensive depth and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. While this was a disappointing end to what was a strong year for the youngster, things are looking up as Jeid begins to prepare for the VHLE with Vasteras. His long lost brother, Reid Johnson, played in the VHLE for Oslo. As a defenseman, he put up 48 points (11 goals, 37 assists) in 72 games. With Rohnson being a forward, there's a lot of expectation for Jeid to exceed those numbers considering he will be in front of the net more than Johnson. While we have to wait a few weeks to see how Jeid reacts to a new level of hockey, we can hope to see that he performs well. For Fox 39 News, I'm Chris Rock.

@leandrofg Welcome VHLMers to this special edition of VHLM News. I'm your host, Chris Rock! Joining me today is a very special guest. The second writer for VHLM content on VSN, @McLovin!. We are bringing an update to how the VHLM season wrapped up and how we think the playoffs are going to go based on our very trustworthy predictions! FINAL STANDINGS x-Clinched Playoffs, y-Clinched Conference, z-Regular Season Champions 1st. Philadelphia Reapers (55-12-5) - z 2nd. Houston Bulls (48-14-10) - y 3rd. San Diego Marlins (49-16-7) - x 4th. Mexico City Kings (39-27-6) - x 5th. Mississauga Hounds (36-26-10) - x 6th. Halifax 21st (32-37-3) - x 7th. Ottawa Lynx (24-33-15) - x 8th. Miami Marauders (26-36-10) - x 9th. Saskatoon Wild (26-42-4) 10th. Las Vegas Aces (25-43-4) Not too much shift since my last post. We saw a dominant Reapers team clinch the Regular Season title, with Houston and San Diego fighting to clinch the West title. Las Vegas finished the season with the worst record (25-43-4), and will look to rebound promptly next season with a new squad. PLAYOFF PREDICITIONS: 1ST ROUND 1st. Philadelphia Reapers (55-12-5) - z vs 8th. Miami Marauders (26-36-10) - x This will likely be nothing short of a curb stomping for Philly. The top end talent, elite goaltending, special teams ability. They outmatch Miami ten to one in any category and I'd be surprised if Miami gets a game out of this series. Very reminiscent of Las Vegas v Mexico City from last season. A player I'd say to watch out for is Karl Herzlich. His shutdown ability is second to none in the M right now, and will likely be putting up high sv % and low GAA games, absolutely brickwalling Miami on this one. ~McLovin 2nd. Houston Bulls (48-14-10) - y vs 7th. Ottawa Lynx (24-33-15) - x I fully expect Houston to run away with this series early. Their production and offensive firepower make them one of the biggest contenders for the Founder's Cup. While crazy things have happened before regarding upsets, I don't expect an upset to happen here. I say Houston takes this series in 4. The player to watch in this series is HOU's G Devon Giguere, who was a top 5 goalie overall during the regular season. We'll see how he plays in what should be a quick series in favor of the Bulls. ~Chris Rock 3rd. San Diego Marlins (49-16-7) - x vs 6th. Halifax 21st (32-37-3) - x This looks to be one of the closest matchups we've seen in a little while. These teams tied the season series 3-3, and are now facing off in the first round of the playoffs. While I think Halifax can make a sneaky attack and advance to the second round, I think SDM will take this one in 6 games. The player to watch in this series is Brad Marchand, who was 2nd in the league in scoring this season. I think he will be the biggest factor when it comes down to the wire and SDM is in dire need of a goal ~Chris Rock 4th. Mexico City Kings (39-27-6) - x vs 5th. Mississauga Hounds (36-26-10) - x This series is going to be extremely competitive, and I get the sense that Mississauga will pull ahead on this one. You look at the facts and they don't lie. Capped players in the top 6 forward core, a better goalie. Mexico has a chance will a better defensive core but it'll need to come out to carry the team against that lethal offense MIS carries with them. It's a series I very easily see going 6 or 7, and can go either which way. A player to watch from this series will be Conference Prince-de-Galles. His elite two-way game as a defenseman will likely play a large role in who wins this series, and should he be able to translate his regular season production into the post season, it will make the difference in the series and likely propel Mexico past Mississauga. ~McLovin While it's pretty obvious where things are going in the first round for most of these series, it will be pretty entertaining to see where these head! We are looking forward to seeing all the drama unfold before us!. For VSN News, we're Chris Rock and McLovin. (Round 2 and Finals Below) claims: TopTiddee: 1 week McLovin: 2 weeks

@v.2 Good evening VHLers! As you might know, I have covered Jeid Rohnson's career so far on Fox 39 News, however, I was recently given the position at the Victory Sports Network to cover the VHLM. I am very grateful for this opportunity and look forward to a long relationship with the community! Without further ado, let's take a look into the VHLM season so far! STANDINGS (Overall) x-Clinched Playoffs, y-Clinched Conference, z-Regular Season Champions 1st. Philadelphia Reapers (46-9-3) - y 2nd. Houston Bulls (38-12-8) - x 3rd. San Diego Marlins (37-14-7) - x 4th. Mexico City Kings (31-22-5) 5th. Mississauga Hounds (28-22-7) 6th. Halifax 21st (26-30-2) 7th. Miami Marauders (22-29-7) 8th. Ottawa Lynx (18-27-12) 9th. Las Vegas Aces (22-32-4) 10th. Saskatoon Wild (21-34-3) Team that has surprised me the most: Halifax 21st Based on my Week 1 post regarding the VHLM week recap, Halifax started out at 3-7-0, and sitting at the bottom of the league. Key additions to their F core at the trade deadline (C Jeid Rohnson and RW Maxim Anisimov via LVA) has boosted their scoring production and has propelled them up the standings. While it seems like this team is going to be a one-and-done in the playoffs, they have the potential to go farther than most have them. Only time will tell if they can prove they belong, as they have a middle-of-the-road schedule for the rest of the season. Most disappointing team: Las Vegas Aces The future looked bright for the Aces, as they started off in the middle of the pack and looked to have a young group of guys who could develop into MVP candidates. Now that they have dropped to 9th place in the league, they have begun rebuilding their squad and were very active at the trade deadline. Sending capped D Walter Fitzroy Jr to Houston in exchange for RW Jason Lajeunesse Jr and D Harjen Van Kraken started off the fire sale, looking to add raw depth to their team. Just two days later, the Aces packaged C Jeid Rohnson and RW Maxim Anisimov and sent them to Halifax in exchange for a high volume LW in Quinndillus Whopper and HFX's S91 3rd round pick. It will be interesting to see how LVA adjusts to this new era now that they are in prime position of securing the 1st overall pick. SCORING LEADERS (Top 10) 1. Axle Gunner (PHI) (37 G, 49 A, 86 PTS) 2. Miroslav (HFX) (30 G, 49 A, 79 PTS) 3. Brad Marchand (SDM) (38 G, 41 A, 79 PTS) 4. Carson Walker Jr. (MEX) (39 G, 38 A, 77 PTS) 5. LeBen Aky (PHI) (37 G, 39 A, 76 PTS) 6. Catia Goncalves (MIS) (34 G, 40 A, 74 PTS) 7. Dominik Kopecky (MIS) (26 G, 45 A, 71 PTS) 8. Sjin (SDM) (26 G, 44 A, 70 PTS) 9. Tyler Swift (PHI) (20 G, 49 A, 69 PTS) 10. Anthony Simmons (PHI) (23 G, 46 A, 69 PTS) GOALIE LEADERS (Top 5) 1. Karl Herzlich (PHI) (45-8-3, .918 SV%, 2.22 GAA) 2. Devon Giguere (HOU) (38-12-8, .904 SV%, 2.43 GAA) 3. Clark (SDM) (37-14-7, .909 SV%, 2.3 GAA) 4. Jose Avocado (MEX) (31-18-5, .906 SV%, 2.61 GAA) 5. Pierre-luc Dutil (MIS) (28-22-7, .901 SV%, 2.92 GAA) MY TOP 3 MVP CANDIDATES: Axle Gunner, C, PHI The best scorer in the league on the best team. Gunner has the perfect combination of goal scoring ability and playmaking ability to help his team find the back of the net on most nights. With a tight race for the top of the scoring leaderboard, only time will tell if he can keep up the production to help Philly clinch the Regular Season title. Karl Herzlich, G, PHI You know what they say, defense wins championships. However, a big part of this mighty Reapers squad has been the production of Herzlich in between the pipes. Now that Philly is heading to the playoffs to defend their title, they are relying on him to become a key contributor in what is expected to be a deep playoff run for the Reapers. If he wins the Playoff MVP, there's no doubt in my mind he can win League MVP. Carson Walker Jr., RW, MEX It was hard to choose if I should've gone D or another F for this final spot. I chose Walker Jr. primarily due to his goal scoring ability, a league-leading 39 goals have come off of his stick. He is a big contributor to Mexico City's success and is in the hunt of securing a sneaky MVP award. Honorable Mention: Tyler Swift, D, PHI It was hard not putting a D in the Top 3, so I gave D Tyler Swift of Philly an honorable mention. Swift appears in numerous categories as one of the top, if not, the best Dmen in the M. He sure has to be keeping G Karl Herzlich happy considering Philly is an unstoppable force at the moment. FINAL THOUGHTS: It's shaping up to be a very entertaining finish in the VHLM, I think the most out of any season that comes to recent memory. I think there's a clear favorite in the Reapers to repeat as Founder's Cup Champions, however, anything can happen and we've seen it before. The most entertaining part of the standings, however, is who will make it out alive? Both Las Vegas and Saskatoon need to have long streaks of wins if they want to sniff a bottom seed in the playoffs this year, but based on current trends, the window continues to close. This ending is shaping up to be a good one! Good luck to all teams! For VSN, I'm Chris Rock.

Hello VHLers! For Fox 39 News, I'm Chris Rock. For the past week, VHL teams have been battling out to get an early step in the standings. While the week isn't over and teams can move all over the standings after I publish this edition of the VHLM Rankings, it certainly seems like some teams are already getting a head start on their projections as we grudge along to the playoffs. These are my opinions, please no one get butthurt :). 1ST PLACE OVR: Philadelphia Reapers (9-0-1) Philadelphia is off to a very hot start as they have begun the season at 9 wins, 0 losses, and 1 OT loss. With a league leading +17 in the goal differential column, the Reapers are the team to beat heading out of week 1. LeBen Aky leads the way in league points with 23 in 10 games. His 2.3 PPG is strong enough to make a case towards an MVP resume come the season end. Tyler Swift is right behind his teammate in points, with 19 in the young season. G Karl Herzlich is making a case for a successful season with a 0.925% SV % and a 1.95 GAA, good for 2nd and 1st in the league respectfully. I expect Philly to be a shoe-in for the championship at the end of the season, and will control the league for weeks to come. 2ND PLACE OVR: Houston Bulls (8-1-1) Houston is also starting off strong start to the new VHLM season as they have begun with 8 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. They are easy contenders for the top of the league and seem to be one of the only teams to dethrone Philly. Bulls player Grunkle Stan-dingyouup is leading the team in points with 15 in 10 games. He is a top contender to take point leader by the end of the season if Houston can perform well. G Devon Giguere is 2nd overall in goalie stats behind PHI G Herzlich with a 0.906% SV % and a 2.16 GAA, which is impressive to start off with. Houston is also one of those championship contenders at the end of the year and has a decent chance of dethroning the Reapers come playoff time. 3RD PLACE OVR: Mexico City Kings (6-2-1) Mexico City is off to a pretty decent start with 6 wins, 2 losses, and 1 OT loss. The Kings are lead by Carson Walker Jr, who currently has 13 points in 9 games. Jose Avocado is 3rd overall goalie in the league with a 0.91% SV % and a 2.29 GAA, quite impressive so far. They may need to lean on him to continue to produce to keep the team in the hunt for cup contenders. Mexico City is my dark horse candidate to upset everyone come playoff time, but will need to keep improving and stay on course to keep up with my projection to make it far in the season. 4TH PLACE OVR: San Diego Marlins (5-4-1) The last time I made these posts, SD was a team on the decline and were the bottom feeders in terms of the standings. Now that I am writing these, it seems like SD has turned things around and is an alright team, capable of being something greater. Baby Moo Moo leads the team in points with 15 in 10 games, and the goaltending is controlled by Clark, who has started with a .901 SV % and a 2.73 GAA. It seems like Clark hasn't had the hottest start, but has plenty of time to develop and make a name for himself come playoff time. The Marlins have had a safe start to the year but need to turn small things around if they want to compete for the Founder's Cup this season. 5TH PLACE OVR: Mississauga Hounds (4-3-3) The Hounds are starting off the year just barely above .500, with 4 wins, 3 losses, and 3 OT losses. A few seasons ago Mississauga had no wins and were the laughing stock of the league, free points if you will. Similar to San Diego, they have turned themselves around and are a playoff team once again. The current point leader for the Hounds is Robert Boldy with 10 games played and 15 points. The goaltending leader is Pierre-luc Dutil, who has a 0.895% SV % and a 3.11 GAA. Dutil has had a rough start and could be a possible reason as to why the team has started in the middle of the road. If they can add a few helpful pieces and allow Dutil to develop then there's a good chance Mississauga can become cup contenders. 6TH PLACE OVR: Ottawa Lynx (4-3-3) Ottawa currently sits 6th in the league standings, with a similar outcome so far to Mississauga in terms of record and goal differential. The current point leader for the Lynx is Harry Callahan, who currently has 15 points in 10 games. The net minder for Ottawa is mainly controlled by Ryan Artyomov, who is posting a .917% SV % as well as a 2.94 GAA. It seems like the main issue for Ottawa is on the defensive side of things, as the GAA for their top goaltender is quite contradictory to his above average save %. One can hope that Ottawa has the capabilities to keep themselves in the playoffs despite starting out low. 7TH PLACE OVR: Las Vegas Aces (5-5-0) Once the powerhouse of the league, LV has found themselves near the bottom of the standings, sitting at .500 to begin the year. While of course there is plenty of time to change around the landscape of the team and become sure playoff contenders, they are needing to find help on the defensive side of things, as they are now without lifelong VHLMer Juan Ceson. Leading the way in points is ShaunYoungca with 12 points in 10 games. The goaltender that currently leads the Aces is Jeffrey Blake, who has put up a league leading .928% SV % and a GAA of 2.29. There is no excuse for the Aces when it comes to a lowly defense and a middle of the road offense as they boast one of the top goaltenders in the league. If they can pick up a piece or two to help them defensively then they should be in the middle of the pack when the playoffs roll around. 8TH PLACE OVR: Saskatoon Wild (3-5-2) Saskatoon is currently at the playoff cutoff line in the standings, as they come in with an abysmal 3-5-2 start. Similar to the Aces, the Wild cannot seem to keep the puck out of the net, as they boast a league worst -9 goal differential. Leading the way in points is Jorji Costova, who has scored 9 points in 10 games. Their top net minder, Joseph Reed, has put up a .908% SV % and a 2.83 GAA thus far. While it seems like Saskatoon is just trying to figure things out, they might need to do it quickly or they miss out on the playoffs. Improve the goal differential by a few and they should be able to sneak into the playoffs at a lower seed. 9TH PLACE OVR: Miami Marauders (2-5-2) If you've read my power rankings before, you know how much I despise Miami and their constant lackluster performances. They sit just outside the playoffs with a 2-5-2 record, which is not the start I'm sure they were hoping for. Rightfully so, they lack inexperienced players and are winger and D hungry when it comes to the makeup of their roster. Leading the way in scoring for the Marauders is Joakim Norden with 11 points in 9 games played. Their goaltender, Gage Barclay, has put up a 0.922% SV % and a 2.97 GAA in his only 2 appearances. Miami desperately needs to either move their picks for players now or continue to stock up picks and prospects to being an early rebuild. 10TH PLACE OVR: Halifax 21st (3-7-0) Halifax has had a rough start to their season, as they sit at the bottom of the league at 3-7-0. It's quite surprising to say the least considering they have a somewhat deep roster with a good amount of experience. May be time to shift the lines a little bit or to begin making moves to make them more competitive or to begin an early rebuilding process. Leading the 21st in scoring is Mikko Borisyuk with 11 points in 10 games. Goaltender Boolie Buchholz has so far produced a 0.911% SV% and a 2.9 GAA, surprisingly well despite the current consequences. Halifax needs to figure out the kinks on their team and straighten them out as soon as possible before it's too late. While I understand that we're only a few days into the season, some teams have obvious needs to fix if they want to go far in the season and the playoffs. Remember, it's not how you start but how you finish. Good luck over the next few weeks, VHLM teams! ~1515 words :), claim for week ending 6/25.

For Fox 39 News, I'm Chris Rock. "With the 35th pick in the S89 VHLM Draft, the Las Vegas Aces are proud to select: from the Isle of Man, C Jeid Rohnson." As the VHLM Draft has come and gone, new faces are looking to make a splash with their new teams. One person who is looking forward to making an immediate impact is Jeid Rohnson, who was selected 35th overall by the Las Vegas Aces. The Aces were ecstatic to select Rohnson with their 35th pick as he fell down draft board rankings following his lackluster VHLM Scouting Combine performance. "Rohnson's capability of scoring is one that will not be seen for a very long time. While he didn't have the greatest performance in the Scouting Combine a few weeks ago, his potential is sky high and we're there to help him all the way through his VHLM career." The Johnson family and Jeid Rohnson were excited to see Jeid taken 35th by the Aces, once home to former player and Jeid's brother, Reid Johnson. "Being in Vegas is a dream come true for sure. Not often do you get to follow in the footsteps of family but luck has truly played out and it'll give me a brand new experience to hockey, one that I may not have experienced before in the NHL. I'm excited to see what's in store and to help the team back to the promised land." Rohnson stated in a post draft interview at Juan Ceson Arena. Rohnson joins the Aces and will slot into the 2nd line, behind C ShaunYoungca. While he will have to work hard to see first line minutes, there's no doubt he could see himself performing well come playoff time. The VHLM Season begins June 16th, as the Saskatoon Wild host the Ottawa Lynx to kick off the season. The Aces are defending home ice in their first game as they take on the San Diego Marlins. For Fox 39 News, I'm Chris Rock.

Pre Draft Live Season 90 Rankings
TopTiddee2 replied to MubbleFubbles's topic in VHCS Draft Rankings
Just saying it would be very foolish if I don’t go Top10, I’m gonna be hella active. -
For Fox 39 News, I'm Chris Rock. VHLM Prospect C Jeid Rohnson has been hard at work perfecting his craft and is gearing up to participate in the VHLM Prospect Combine. While not many people have seen Rohnson compete at the next level, Rohnson promises that he will show everyone why he should be a household name worldwide. "I know that I have a lot on my shoulders, with my family name and my past NHL career," Johnson stated. "but I know that I must continuously put the work in on and off the ice if I want to reach my goals." Several teams have had contact with Rohnson, but currently it is unsure if Rohnson will be able to stand out with all of the talent that is sitting in this draft. Projections have Jeid Rohnson sitting as a middle-round selection, but that could easily change if he shows up and performs well in front of the scouts. His long-lost brother, Reid Johnson, was selected 25th overall by the Las Vegas Aces. He went on to record 7 goals and 52 assists in 72 games played, and had a point-per-game performance in the S84 playoffs in a year that LVA won the Founder's Cup. Johnson also put up 21 points in 16 games for Team USA in the World Junior Hockey Championships. Rohnson knows that he must try and either match or beat out his brother in order to catch the attention of those in the higher leagues. For Fox 39 News, I'm Chris Rock.

As the VHLM Draft is right around the corner, teams are looking to fill in slots to make their team more competitive and to get newer players prepared for the next level. One player who is gearing up for his first season is C Jeid Rohnson, an offense-first forward from the Isle of Man. While Jeid could benefit from playing for any team, these teams are Center hungry and could use a player like Rohnson. HALIFAX 21st Team Fit: B+ Halifax is coming off a playoff season, one that found them getting eliminated early. Now that the offseason has come into full swing, the 21st are now carrying only 3 players to their roster. With the experience that Jeid carries (with not being a first gen), the 21st can expect Rohnson to produce immediately at the start of the season. Pairing Rohnson with RW Damon Tusha and LW Quinndillus Whopper would be an excellent start to Rohnson's career due to the experience both carry. Halifax could spend their 2nds or a 3rd to pursue Rohnson if he does fall down far. HOUSTON BULLS Team Fit: C Houston were first-round exits in S88, and they are looking to avoid that come S89. Rohnson would be a great fit for the Bulls as Houston boasts some players who are nearing the cutoff for TPA. One player that sticks out is C Grunkle Stan-dingyouup, as he has amassed 200 TPA and will easily get first-line minutes with the Bulls next season. Having him on the roster allows Rohnson to develop in his first year while juggling middle line minutes. While Rohnson would obviously prefer 1st line minutes, he has plenty of development to do before making that big splash for the Bulls. MEXICO CITY KINGS Team Fit: C- Mexico City found themselves in the Founder's Cup Final, and rightfully so. The Kings hold 6 forwards with over 100 TPE, an excellent situation for Jeid Rohnson to fit into. It allows him to develop on the lower lines while the higher TPA players do the more dirty work of pushing this team over the top. Mexico City gives Rohnson one of the best chances to win the Founder's Cup in his first year, but he won't be getting a lot of time due to the loaded talent already clogging up the middle. MC holds all of their picks, and Rohnson may be that perfect selection as the later rounds roll around. OTTAWA LYNX Team Fit: A- Ottawa missed out on the playoffs last season, but they look to bounce back with two RWs returning for next season in Lucky Mitts and Harry Callahan. The Lynx hold a lot of picks, so this could become their year depending on how well they draft around the team, especially if they select Rohnson who is looking to become that Franchise cornerstone. With enough supporting pieces and having two wingers who could support him in his development, Rohnson could easily take that next step with the potential that Ottawa holds for their future. PHILADELPHIA REAPERS Team Fit: C Philly won the Founder's Cup last season, and are now looking to reload with young talent looking to win now. With C Anthony Simmons returning, Rohnson can be immediately plugged into the middle lines and can develop behind him. Philly only holds 4 picks this draft, so they may need to splurge in Free Agency for those remaining roster spots, but Rohnson can benefit immediately and has a chance to win the Founder's Cup in his first year if the Reapers select him. While Rohnson is happy to join any team that selects him, the teams I highlighted in this post are ones that are most C hungry.
