It’s been six weeks since I was hired as an updater. Holy shit time flies. And I got to say, it’s as good a job as I thought it was going to be. I wouldn’t say it’s an easy job, as I’ve made some mistakes while learning but it’s not a job where I feel stressed. It’s also nice because I am getting exposed to forum content that I probably wouldn’t have looked at otherwise. It’s also giving me the chance to talk with some more of the well-established members of the VHL through the updater chat and I’m enjoying that as well. It’s nice to feel like I’m doing something worthwhile.

For the last 2 years I have been chasing this job and the wait was well worth it. So just wanted to say that I am now seeing a lot more content and I am really enjoying it all.

Aimee reacted to sadie in Sadie St-Louis Back in San Diego
In a surprising turn of events, Sadie St-Louis is going back where it all started for her- San Diego. It's been 10 years since she played for them in S84, new to the VHLM and now she'll be overseeing the new generation of players and helping start their VHL journeys off the right way. After grabbing the Victory Pro-Am tournament bronze medal with the Flora Vista Foxes this offseason, it's unexpected to see her start in a new position so soon, especially a few months after retirement. San Diego's front office will be better with her, as St-Louis begins her foray into the VHL management world. She was present at the table for the VHLM draft today and was there to welcome the new draftees. Currently she has her sights set on an eventual VHLM GM position, but perhaps we could see St-Louis in the VHL again someday. Who knows what heights she might end up rising to?

Last minute addition to the week, about to hit 700TPE, got a couple of HOF articles to do in the next little bit, excited to do acydburn and aimee justice, and I’m very excited to see how they move forward from here. I’m also excited to get some games going as it feels like forever since I was a part of some big games. As much as it’s nice to get a World Juniors nod, it’s tough to not feel apathetic towards something I can’t build up in. But this VHL season I’ll be putting my all into being as ready as I can be for my first playoff run. It’ll be nice to be working my way up the TPE leaderboard again, enjoying the wins of overtaking each person one by one. The competition is great, but we’ve got to be better! I’ll be chasing Hard Markinson down for points, and it all starts from game 1!

    Welcome everyone to Season 95!
    ---
Another season is about to get started, and a new VHLM Draft Class has begun! Excited to see what waivers come in this season, and I hope we can get more players built up and ready to take on the VHL!
    ---
I want to start off by congratulating all of the draftees, now that all of the drafts are done, it’s the most crucial time for player retention! If you haven’t heard from any of your GMs yet, leave a comment in this thread and we’ll get you set up! Hopefully you’ve all made your way into your new locker rooms, and are excited to take on this new season!
    ---
I also want to take a moment, like I will for the foreseeable future, to recognize some important milestones that our members are hitting!

    100TPE

Although I believe they started this week at 100TPE, I wanted to congratulate @Rick132 on crossing the 100TPE mark! Rick joined about a month and a half after me, all the way back in 2020, and is working on getting to their first VHL game sometime soon! Had a great start in Houston, and hope to see them build on that success in Mexico, and get ready to play for Bratislava soon!

    200TPE

We have a nice collection of players crossing the 200TPE mark, some of which may end up playing in the VHLE this season, but most will make up the stars of the VHLM! It’s time for them to pack on the TPE so they can get a headstart on the VHLE for next season!

We start with Onyekachukwu Chidieber Oluwaseun, who is @TenIQ ‘s 3rd player and the first to cross not only 100TPE, but also 200TPE! They’ve written some excellent Media Spots recently, and should be on the map for a permanent management position sometime soon!

Next comes Jacob Longstreet, someone who really impressed me in our time together poking around the Marlins locker room. So much so that I was thrilled to draft them to London. And while I never got to GM them there, they just had a prolific season in the VHLM, and are steadily working their way to being a nice piece in the VHL. They’ll be off to Cologne shortly, and can’t wait to see what @Dynamicmlb_42 can do!

Onto Jerry Box, two-time Founder’s Cup champion! Barry’s first player was in the first draft I ran, and I remember them kicking some major butt in Halifax. This time it’s even more major butt in Saskatoon! Sam makes sure to draft them again a couple years later, and is hoping to get a nice player to add to Helsinki! But first it’s Vasteras, and we’ll see what @barryst can bring this season!

Our first true first-gen on the list today we have LaClapbomb Hitstick IV, who I assumed would have had at least 3 previous players, but I was mistaken! Houston has really enjoyed having such a presence on their blueline, and will be sad to see them move towards DC via Vasteras, quite the trek! They’re very eloquent in their Press Conferences, so their team will at least get a monster on defense and a media darling! Congrats @Greasy Gary on the accomplishment!

Not to be mistaken with our previous entry, we have Clapbomb Bardownski III who follows incredible backup goaltender Evan Bihler in @Eb14 ‘s agency! A very solid opening career not unlike my own first career, and I’m happy to see their progression has gone well with the conversion to a skater! Another player who had a monster season last time around, it will be exciting to see whether they can follow that up, while building up some TPE to get themselves to DC!

Helsinki snaps up another player on this list in Bret Weier, who I have had the pleasure of having on the Rush in the JST this offseason, and who seems like they could be a real long-term presence in the league. One of our few podcasters in the league, @Quanack has followed a unique progression path, which is something I admire in a player! Nice to see them back from their first stint beginning in 2019!

    400TPE

Our only entry on this list this week is Dan jr, who is back after a great career with Daniel Clarke, primarily in Riga. @Danzo has filled a niche that the league is sorely lacking in, which is consistent lower TPE earners. They earn consistently, build well, and Riga will be glad to have such a reliable player back in the fold. Welcome back to the big leagues and excited to see what you can do this time!

I want to introduce something else new that I want to try to do every week. I know sometimes it can be a hard thing for newer members to do, so I sat down recently and came up with 100 things that you could write about, do a graphic about, or I suppose if you got really into it, do a Podcast about! Thanks to everyone who read this far along, and feel free to share your creations here in this thread, and I’ll come check them out! There should be a media sharing channel in each of your team locker rooms as well, and I’m sure your teammates would love to check out your work!

So for this week, the topic is:

What is the coolest food your player has tried on their travels? What city has the best food that they’ve been to, and have they ever tried to recreate that experience?

For Jillian Woods, nothing beats Rome. I know it’s a basic answer, but when you spend a whole season, there, it really just becomes obvious that the Italians do food the best. If you haven’t tried real,  homemade pasta, with real Italian tomatoes and herbs, some Italian wine and cheese, and some Italian cured meats, you really haven’t tried food.

So what’s your answer? I’d love to read about it, see it, or even hear about it this week! Happy forum content creation!

Aimee reacted to CaptainSB in 6 Drafts 6 Fails
This week has been a happy but sad day for Samsayz I-Smell. It had been doing all it could to go last in any of the drafts it was eligible for.
As a new create in its first season, it joined the VHLM and Junior Showcase Tournament draft.

This offseason it joined the VHL, VHLE, Junior Showcase Tournament and Pro-Am drafts and unfortunately for I-Smell no GM is listening. I-Smell is thankful for the LA Stars and Stockholm Vikings had faith in it, but not enough to have it drop to last in any of the key drafts. As scouts and analysts dissected every small inch of his prospect profile, I-Smell was criticized as not doing enough on defense and offense. And it was not a master of any trait and all its teams end up in failure.

I-Smell needs to regroup before the start of the VHLE and re-create his image to have a brighter future with all the drafts now completed. Will I-Smell be the biggest and stinkiest let down of the drafts? Or will it prove the GMs right as being a key cog in the future? Only time will tell.

Aimee got a reaction from Royski in Ahsoka's Post Draft Reaction
After having been drafted 5th overall in the VHL draft by the Helsinki Titans, Ahsoka Tano gave a brief interview stating that she was excited about being drafted and that she was grateful to Helsinki. While obviously happy, she appeared to have an air of apprehension and nervousness before excusing herself from the press conference room at the draft.

    ____________________________________

As she walked through the hallways of the draft building, Ahsoka Tano wrung her hands in front of her once she was alone. She checked various doors as she walked the halls, trying to find one that was both unlocked and unused. It was hard to find one given that this was an off-season stadium. The only people at this time of year who would frequent any rooms were the janitors and cleaning crew. After a few failed doorknob attempts, she finally found one that was dark and unlocked. After a quick peak around the room, she realized it was full of old equipment that either was simply in storage or was bound for the dump.

    Perfect.

She slipped inside and quietly closed and locked the door behind her. Despite the near pitch black of the room, she had little problem seeing enough to get through. She made her way to the back of the room where there was an old desk and chair, and she took a seat. Ahsoka sighed as she leaned back, eyes closed as she took in the day she had just had. It wasn’t the top 3 that people had been speculating but 5th overall wasn’t anything to turn a nose up at either. It meant that she had not only proven herself a good enough player, but seemingly one of the best up and coming.

It was exactly what they needed…

After a few moments of silence with her own thoughts, Ahsoka sat back up, took a deep breath, and pulled a disk communicator from her leather jacket pocket. It was a little dinged up and hadn’t been used in a long time, but it still worked. Thankfully. She blew what little dust remained on it before pressing the activation button. It only went to one person, but she didn’t know if they would answer.

Time passed as the disk sat on the desk and she willed it to light up with the hologram of her friend and mentor. She knew it was a long distance for the signal to travel; further than she had probably ever asked of it. So, while the wait made her uneasy, she had half expected it.

An hour or so passed and her eyes had fully adjusted to the darkness of the room. She had closed her eyes a while ago and began to meditate. In times like this, it helped keep her calm despite the nerves quickly building inside of her. She thought about home, her friends, family, mentors, and her life prior to coming to Earth.

As those thoughts began to turn to her current worries, a very quiet beep sounded from the communicator. Ahsoka’s eyes shot open and a robed figure of blue holographic light was there to greet her.
