Sjin reacted to Will3 in Shubham Anand's Busy Offseason
Loosing can be a painful experience. Right now it is Shubham Anand feeling that pain. He had fought so hard to rally the San Diego Marlins against the Mexico City Kings in the semifinal round of the S88 VHLM playoffs, only for that rally to fall short in six games. But as painful as that lose is, our Indian friend has no time to reflect on that pain. Shubham has a full plate ahead of him both on and off the ice. Here are most of the things on Shubham's schedule for the the comming offseason.

The first thing up for Shubham is something that he has been working on all season. He is finishing up a college degree. He has been working for an undergraduate degree in business management from an online university all season long. Shubham is excited to get this college degree over with and should have his diploma in hand before the playoffs are over.

Upon receiving his release from the Marlins, Shubham will be flying out with teammate Marty Byrd to the Junior Showcase Tournament as a member of the Steel. The Steel have a good team around Shubham and should have a shot at winning the tournament. Shubham is looking forward to the tournament and it should be an excellent opportunity to work out any ill feelings comming from the season ending.

Shubham will also be participating in the unofficial ProAm put on by some of the bigwigs of the VHL. Some of the teams seem a little strange, juniors like Shubham playing against some of the best of the VHL, but it is cool. The cutoff for joining the ProAm just past so selections should be sometime soon. Shubham views this strange tournament as an opportunity to prove himself to more VHL GM's going into the draft.

Also coming up is the World Junior Championship. This seems to be the furthest away of the offseason games. Only the managers of the teams have selected with no word on rosters yet. Shubham will be prepared to play for Team Asia until it is announced otherwise. Only waiting for news now.

All of this hockey leads to draft day and Shubham is a prospect in all three S89 drafts. Which means that Shubham will have to be ready for interviews from GMs or AGMs at any time in any place. This includes facing a quest he had no answer for currently. "Which league will you be playing in next season"? There are pros and cons to staying in the M and moving up to the E. Both options have been considered and it will likely come down to what happens in the VHLM and VHLE drafts that will help him answer the question. Shubham can't wait to have his his hockey future decided.

The business management degree isn't for nothing. It will be a major part of side project Shubham has had on his mind for years. Apparently there's financial help from his mother and others for this project. Also some app developers have been reported hired. Whatever this thing could be, rumors have it that it will be announced some time this offseason. A delay is possible, given how busy Shubham actually is, but look for it soon ish.

Shubham Anand is thankful to the San Diego Marlins to all management, teammates and fans for a wonderful season. It was a great time with a sad ending. But now that time is over. It is now time to prepare for a long and busy offseason that will change the future. That's everything said that was needed to be said. Good day all.

Starting the Season Marlins only had 2 players on the roster @McGriddy10 who later became our AGM and none other than Goat @fonziGG as we didn't have many picks from selling our future assets for success in S86 and S87 where we were able to successfully win our first Founder's Cup for the franchise.

I then later returned to the squad from free agency. We were then able to add 3 more players to the roster through waivers who proved to extremely valuable assets as the season played out that included @Fradin99, @Will3 and @Marty B all doing fantastic jobs earning TPE as the season progressed. Fradin will now pass the VHLM without even being drafted and the same may also be true for Scuba showing how committed they both were to earning! Throughout the season we then added a couple more waiver claims including @Keegan Gamble, @Elvis and @Imthereforyou who were also integral to the success of the team, especially Keegan Gamble who was a great locker room guy. Additionally adding @CoolLuigiBro14 to our forward group rounding us off with 6 forwards. This team proved deadly where by the trade deadline we were sitting in close contention for the Prime Minister's cup with Mexico City Kings and Mississauga Hounds who were leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. We were able to make 2 more additions to after the trade deadline including @jhatty8 and @Moon who were also very important rounding out the regular season and going into the post season.

Whilst we unfortunately fell short this season unable to win any hardware losing to Mexico City King in game 6 and being eliminated from the post season. We need to acknowledge the great success this team has had despite it's humble beginnings at the start of the season everyone, even myself expected the team to be rebuilding but against all odds we put together a true cup contending team! So we have to thank @Arce and @McGriddy10 for their fantastic job in managing the team this season making some fantastic signings and keeping the team competitive when everyone else though it was impossible.

It was a truly incredible season the locker room was always electric and a great atmosphere to be a part of I'll be a shame to see all these fantastic team mates move on to different leagues and new teams, hopefully we're able to bring as many of them back as possible and keep this amazing atmosphere in San Diego! I look forward for what the future holds for the San Diego Marlins there's definitely a lot more to come from this team!

    Keegan Gamble
    Age: 17
    Height: 5'6
    Weight: 143
    Position: RW
    Team: San Diego Marlins
    Nationality: Canadian

As the draft approaches Keegan Gamble is certainly a prospect you may want to have your eyes on. The small but fierce speedy right winger has quite the playmaking ability and will definitely be catching teams attention as the draft approaches.

    Strengths

Keegan Gamble is an outstanding hockey player with a unique set of skills that make him stand out on the ice. He is a playmaker with speed, which means that he has quite a keen eye for the game and is always looking for opportunities to create scoring chances for his team. When he is on the ice, he is constantly in motion and his quickness is hard to match. His stick handling ability may not be great but he is able to maneuver around defensemen with ease using his speed. He is also an excellent passer and can make precision passes from anywhere on the ice. In addition to his offensive skills, Keegan is also a physical player who will play the body whenever he gets the chance even for his smaller size. You may not see him as a threat but Keegan Gamble can be dangerous given the right opportunity and chances

Keegan this year had 14 goals 31 assists for 45 points in 56 games in his first year in the VHLM playing on the second line and second line PP. He had exactly 100 hits on the year, so he can play quite physical for his smaller size and 23 blocks to add on. As of playoffs, he has 1 goal 2 assists for 3 points in 4 playoff games after the Marlins swept the Houston Bulls.
    Weaknesses

Scoring: Keegan's weakness as a player are the ability to produce goals. Yes he is more of a playmaker, but he didn't produce very many shots either. Counting all players who played over games this year on the San Diego Marlins, he had the worst shooting percentage at 7.82%.

Strength: Size certainly doesn't help Keegan and he isn't the strongest guy on the ice. Keegan's strength is something he is working on improving massively as soon as the off season hits. As of right now he is quite vulnerable and easy to knock off the puck. As I implied before, he is a smaller player, so him not being as strong as others is definitely a disadvantage to him at this point in time and is one of his main focuses on improving this summer.

    BONUS!!
A huge bonus you get from Keegan Gamble is his crippled wheelchair dog.... HENRY!!

Fradin McGryer is a well known tough guy amongst the VHLM. And for those that don't know him heading into a game, he makes sure to introduce himself. The Boston native was a waiver pickup at the start of the season and began a bit sheepish. Blocking shots and holding the blue line as best he could. But as he developed and found his groove with the team, he's developed his physical game to the point where even his teammates have lightheartedly and openly referred to him as a 'Goon'.

"It's certainly something our team was missing I felt after the first handful of games. We play such a defensive system that tensions obviously run hot out there on the ice. And when you have, you know, players flying by you on the ice like Sjin and Marty B it's sure to get under your skin. I just like to be the main focus for the other team. I don't go out there and intend to fight every night but if one's going to happen I won't let anyone else out there answer the bell before me. In a way it's sort of fun too. Riling up the bench and the crowd by throwing a few bombs with another guy, it's a good time."

McGryer in his first 72 games has amounted 233 hits (5th in the VHLM) and 113 PIMs (5th in the VHLM) to include three fighting majors. McGryer is also the only player to be assessed a decisive win in the league which he makes sure to remind his team during the 'Goon' jabs. The defenseman did manage 58 points this season with 50 assists. He may not be Doug Glatt but he certainly should be a player teams plan for in the coming playoff games.

I think one of the main reasons why we've only had 1 player go IA this season is our thriving discord community, which the IA in question never joined unfortunately. We have created an environment players want to be a part of leading to many great waiver picks ups throughout the season!

As a first Gen as well @Fradin99 I have been seriously impressed with your commitment to earning, the daily recaps are loved by everyone in the discord keeping everyone engaged and an active dialogue at all times in the discord. The VHL is lucky to have a player like you, and I'm sure you will continue to impress GMs as you progress through the leagues!
