  1. Whoa, thanks for the confidence in Wann Kerr, I hope PR is okay with this lol. Now let's go get that bloody mug, shall we?
  2. 1. Both of them, obviously. But I'd say he's closer to the Jake Wylde type of a player. If I had to choose one, I'd say the Wylde. 2. I think Fuhr got FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY. Everyone just takes for granted how great he is every season. 3. Honestly, I think sharing awards only makes sense for statistical awards. Frank should have been the sole winner. 4. Not really interesting. My player is a shitpost, but some of the things about him are inspired by me as a member, and back in the E days, I did a com article about him spending a night at a hospital in Rome after being bitten by a viper. That was inspired by me getting bitten by a Coastal Viper in Greece. I was looking for one to photograph, but didn't notice the one I'd step on. Poor noodle, hope it was okay. 5. No reason to strip a letter from Bouchard or Maple, so my pick for the other A is Brian Payne. He's a great, experienced player, and as a member, Scurvy is an awesome locker room presence. 6. Gonna sound cocky, but I'd say Wann Kerr. I was actually hoping to see him nominated. And I found it hilarious that Kauppi was one of the nominees after Kerr's breakout, because of course he always has to be Kerr's arch nemesis, since the M.
  3. One of my player's biggest role model as an undersized center. Greate career, first balllot hall of famer. It was an honor to play against Janser in the play-offs. Can't wait for the next palyer to dominate!
  4. Wann Kerr, one of the most prominent Czech players currently in the VHL, is enjoying another offseason in Bowen Island, B.C., albeit a one shortened by a trip to the Continental Cup finals, where his Vancouver Wolves lost to HC Davos Dynamo. Despite the difficulties in keeping up with our players playing overseas, especially with the ones residing in North America over Summer, we were able to steal a few minutes of his offseason time to catch up and chat about his season, offseason and expectations. So, long time no see. How have you been? Yea, I think last time we spoke, I was a rookie, right? I don't really feel like one anympore. Yea, things have been great, obviously I'm keeping busy, mostly with hockey, there will be enough time for other things later. True that. Since our last chat, you've had quite a strong rookie season, hit some struggles in your second season, but you really broke out last year. What do you think got you over the hump? Well, we had fantastic offense last season. I spent most of the season playing with either Nico (Pearce) or Henry (Eagles) on one of my wings, which obviously really helped both me and my other linemate, whether it was Oreo (McFleury) or S.nubbed (Analfist). We all were firing on all cylinders. And the confidence really carried throughout the squad. You also had quite a playoff run... But we didn't win The Cup. Getting this close feels great, but ultimately there's really nothing to celebrate. Yea, I got some goals and stuff, I was really feeling it, it felt like I had a puck magnet in my stick. Hockey gods have wicked sense of humor, let me tell you. I'm sure your team will be more successful the next time. So, what have you been up to this Summer? I've been mostly working on some faceoff drills, I feel like it could help my team a lot to establish puck possession straight after the puck drop. I've also been spending some extra time in the weight room, I'm not a big guy, I have to make up for it with some muscle. Especially considering my style of game. This Summer was more about working on off-puck stuff. I've even gone through tons of off-puck tape of guys like John Jameson, (Ronan) Lavelle or (Sirdsvaldis) Miglaskems. Their puck retrieval abilities are amazing, it's something I'd like to implement in my game. Especially using my body more effectively. What about your non-hockey life? How's your Summer been? Great! I'm enjoying being a hockey dad, my boy Alagsantere often comes to the training facilities with me. I promised him he can join the Greenland Hockey Academy when he's 15, so he's got some work to do to prepare, right? Other than that...with Lea, we kept it pretty under the radar, but we've got married. No big celebration or a huge social media thing, we just flew to Czechia, had the ceremony just with the family circle, and flew back to Canada. No biggie. Wow, congratulations to you both! What are your expectations for your first hockey season as a married man? For you as a player and for your team? For me, play my best game and work hard for the team. Just carry the confidence from the last season to the next one. We also have some youngsters in Liv (Slater) and Sigma (Freud) joining the team, I'll try to show them the ropes, help making them feel comfortable in the new team. As for the team, I see no reason why we couldn't go on another deep playoff run. We in our journal will definitely root for you, thank you for your time again and hopefully we will get to catch up with you sooner than in another three years! Thank you, always a pleasure to talk to my Czech fans.
  5. I had the same feeling when making my first VHL graphics, haha, and this looks much better than mine did! I still have no idea what I'm doing 69% of the time to be honest. Don't worry, you'll evetually figure it out, or fake it 'till you make it It's just another fun thing VHL has to offer
  6. There's no easy way to say it - with Nico Pearce's retirement set in stone, there was always going to be a huge hole in the Wolves' offense coming into S90. It's hard to replace a first ballot hall-of-famer and the team's top goal scorer. To address the loss, the Vancouver brass acquired signing rights to Girts Galvins, a former teammate of now re-signed Brian Payne, from Warsaw in exchange for an S90 4th round pick that turned into a 2nd-rounder after Galvins has signed with Vancouver. A former Brooks Trophy winner definitely looks like a good bet to replace a goal scorer like Pearce. However, a departure that might end up looking equally as difficult to make up fot is a 360-game Wolves veteran and a superstar winger Henry Eagles , who packed his backs and set off to Malmö in exchange for a hard nosed forward Hockley Mann, a goaltender prospect Clark and sone draft capital including a first round pick in S92. This is a loss that has to be addressed internally. With Wann Kerr finally establishing himself as a legitimate high-end center, Dogwood Maple at his peak, and Oreo McFleury and S.nubbed Analfist due to have coming out parties of their own, they're in a good spot to do so. Might the offense take a slight step back in S90? Sure. Will it stink? No way. An under-the-radar trade with Moscow saw the Wolves adding a sneaky good pickup in Sigma Freud, a two-way defenseman who's set to play his rookie season in S90 after dominating the E with 94 points with Cologne last season. But the trade that might end up being the most impactful long-term was sending depth defenseman Reinhart von Kongming and draft capital including two 1st round picks to Chicago in exchange for a 2nd round pick and Liv Slater, one of the top S88 class players, a speedy puck-moving defenseman who's well on her track to take over the blue line after Pierre Emile Bouchard's career comes to an end.
  7. 1. It's a tough ask with Pearce and Eagles leaving, we'll see. I certainly hope so. 2. No return is ever gonna be enough for a player like Eagles. Mann is a physical presence, something our forward core is lacking. 3. He'll defonittly offset some of what we've lost with Pearce and Eagles, he's a former Brooks Trophy winner after all. I'm excited to see the new look of our offense with Galvins. 4. Henry Eagles and Nico Pearce. No seriously, I don't know what the cap situation is, I'm just paid to play hockey, but another 1000-ish TPA forward would be nice. We had 3 last season, we only have Maple and Galvins this season. Or...wait...too much pressure too much pressure too much pressure 5. I'm a simple man. I just want to know straight away what is actually the part if the trade. I hate them. 6. I love riddles, but they're So infuriating for me because I take them too literally. So I guess it will have nothing to do with time zones, right?
  8. Good series, deserved! Still rigged tho
  9. Great to have you in Vancouver!
  10. They say Simon giveth, and Simon taketh away... but does he do meth? 'Cause if not, no way! Sometimes Simon finds the good stuff, and then 11 powerplays are not enough to score a single goddamn goal, and suddenly your team is in the hole. Fighting 40 or 53, what change does it make? Certainly none in how many majors players take! You need your team to shoot more shots? Boost your lines' defense, do it by lots! FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY, that's what a better team often will get. Let alone win a series, that you can forget! You may wonder, to success what's the key... The code you want to crack? Simon you want to have your back? All-time records you want to attack? If you figure out how...let me know back! Because I certainly have no clue. I guess Simon sniffs some glue, not Clue Glue, something harder, or maybe it's a case for Scully and Mulder. I'll guess we'll never know. Thank you for reading this...I don't know what, for now I have to go. So please, Simon, stop being a twat.
  11. 1. I'm not surprised at all that we made it. Neither am I surprised about Davos, really, they have one of the best defenders of this generation playing with one of the hottest young guns among all blueliners, not to mention Summers in the net. 2. Both teams have the same record, and pretty much the same goal differential, how do you even pick a favorite? We might have the nomentum on our side after sweeping NY, I believe we can do it in 6 or 7 games. 3. I've already read through that, and Nico would be my pick even before that. Team's leading goal scorer would be one of the most obvious choices any day. 4. Again, I agree with the award. On top of high end skill, Payne has brought the grit that really stood out on our skill-first team. 5. Eagles was my pick, mostly because of leading the team in game winning goals, and his second place in Three Stars awards supports it. But after seeing he splits the Three Stars second place with Brandt Fuhr, I personally see Fuhr as an unsung hero, considering I haven't really realized how great he's been once again. 6. Analfist got FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY. There's only 60 minutes in a game and there's always gonna be someone with the least ice time who should play more, that's just how it is.
  12. It's always awesome to look back and see what a great group this has been, on and off the ice. Glad I can have a spot here
  13. 1. Definitely, there's the Victory Cup curse, right? I hope Prague advances and gets to the finals, it would be the fourth time Kerr would face his arch nemesis Kauppi in the finals. 2. They made huge improvements at the deadline, I'm not surprised, and I wouldn't be surprised if they eliminated Seattle either. Even though I'd prefer them leaving this satisfaction to us. 3. Of course us, no matter who the opponent is. We're stacked on every position, we're gonna go deep. 4. I don't follow the EU conference closely enough to really know what to expect. 5. Vancouver and Prague. It would be fun to see @Frank torn between the Wolves success or Jameson's success. But obviously we would win. Because...it's us. 6. With a lot of sweating, swearing and cold radler.
  14. Game 510, where Vancouver Wolves suited up against New York Americans, was a big one for the Wolves, as they were looking to clinch the playoff spot. In hindsight, it would also turn out to be the first milestone game in the career of Wann Kerr, a Vancouver center. After overachieving in his rookie season and failing to meet expectations in his sophomore year, Kerr has been enjoying a true breakout season, as he was entering the game with career-high 30 goals and career-high 39 assists in the previous 63 games. Kerr managed to get on the scoreboard early in the 5th minute of the game. Pierre Emile Bouchard's great shot block led to Wolves' counterattack resulting in a few shot attempt, and finally to Nico Pearce beating everyone in a race for a loose puck after B-VAN D1's shot. Pearce showed great vision and awareness and sent the puck on a net through traffic, where Kerr was screening the Americans' goalie. Just a little tip to change the puck's direction, and it went in. 10 minutes later, in the 15th minute of the game, icing was called against the Americans. Wann Kerr lost the upcoming faceoff, but Nico Pearce was able to gain possession almost immediately, got the puck to Pierre Emile Bouchard, who would send the puck to Kerr to assist on what would eventually turn out to be a game winning goal by Kerr. After some sustained Wolves' pressure to start off the second period, New York's goaltender held the puck until the whistle. Wann Kerr won the faceoff, immediately sending the puck on S.nubbed Analfist's stick. Analfist would re-adjust the puck and fire it on the net. The first shot missed, but Analfist would show his tenacity and would be the one to get to the loose puck, wrapping around the net and shocking everyone by scoring a Michigan goal. The sole assist on this highlight reel goal was Kerr's 72nd point of the season, meaning no matter what happens between now and the end of the season, Kerr is a point per game player for the first time in his career. But he wasn't done yet. 20-something seconds in the last period, Kerr lost a faceoff in the offensive zone, but showed his ferocity and strength when he was able to win a board battle with a New York winger and sent the puck to the net. It was blocked by an Americans' defender, and once again it was Nico Pearce stealing the loose puck, shooting the puck that would once again be blocked and deflected to Kerr's stick, who would cleanly beat the goaltender. This goal was not only the point that would get Kerr to over a point per game no matter what happens, but it also completed Kerr's first career hattrick. "Yea, I was trying to be where guys were expecting me to be, you know, and anticipating where the puck is going, and it obviously worked out great for us this time," said Kerr during press availability after the game. "Sometimes it's me who scores, sometimes it's someone else, we all had a great game tonight. In the end, it was a great win for the team, we really need a few wins like this one against strong teams to boost our confidence, the most important games are yet to come," closed Kerr.
  15. 1. I was 13, there's a good chance it was me, my mother and my then-10-months-old brother visiting my grandma, we would typically spend 10 or 14 days at her place every July. I would spend most of it wandering outdoors with her dog, I've always loved dogs, but we never had one when I was growing up. 2. On July 31, 2022. I've stayed because it's fun, and more than anything people here are awesome. And also a huge part of it is that my VHLM GM was Shindigs, and his style of leadership and mentorship was exactly what I respond to the best. 3. Well, nowadays I'd say it's the free booze everyone is giving me lol. But I have my own tradition to visit a different zoo I've never been to on my birthdays, so it's definitely that. 4. It was a pretty tough era of my life, so being brutally honest, the best thing was that it was only 2 more years before moving away. 5. Probably the first time I've ridden a motorbike. Some things, especially feelings, just stick. I wish I could re-live that. But I'm too prone to remember bad things better than good things, sadly haha. 6. Oof, no idea about this one.
