  2. 1. That has to be a tie between my last 2 seasons in Vancouver and my last 2 seasons in London. The S89 and S90 Wolves were the best LR I've been a part of so far, and with the S93 and S94 United, my last player had the most individual on-ice success. 2. The end of S94. My last player never won a championship, despite playing in the finals in the M, in the E, and three (or was it 4?) times in the VHL. To end the career with a game 7 finals loss was heartbreaking. 3. He's gonna be the polar opposite of my current player - an undersized winger with the silkiest mitts and deadly shot, think Patrick Kane. 4. The fact the new toy excitement hasn't worn off yet! He's got a long ahead of him, and I'm looking forward to what can he do. 5. The fact I have to bank TPE. I want to watch him grow! 6. I don't know, with SC and PA at 43, him and "offence" don't even belong in the same sentence! Probably for something like commiting a tax fraud. Not intentionally, but because he's an idiot.
  3. I know this is last week's, but I didn't do it and don't feel like coming up with the questions for A3A3 this week haha. 1. Honestly, I've never really given any thought to Mexico City, being European and nothing I'm particularly interested in coming from Mexico. I must admit I know next to nothing about Mexico City. I'll tell you what's not my favorite thing - the weather. 2. Fishing is probably the most expensive hobby I'm really seriously into, so probably Sonubaits. I used to use their baits when I was fishing competitively, but it's just too damn expensive without a sponsorship. 3. I guess Miami, Ricer sounds like a great GM and a great guy. 4. He's one of the guys who puts on headphones to pump himself up. He sits on the boards, listens to "Guten Tag" by Varg and eats a decent amount of roasted sunflower seeds. He doesn't carb load, he's on keto 5. I used to play with a wooden stick as a kid, then got my first composite stick at around 12. Much lighter and whippier. Shooting with the wooden stick was just painful. 6. Mexico and Prague are probably my favorite logos to be honest.
  4. “I don't score goals often. But when I do, we win.” said half jokingly Alagsantere Grønvold in the press availability after the game against Philadelphia, which saw Grønvold score his 5th game winning goal of the season, and extended the Kings’ winning streak to five games (it's seven games now). While Grønvold leads the Kings in game winning goals, and is tied for the third spot league-wide, the comment probably didn't come at the right time, considering it was the only game winning goal he scored in the current winning streak. The other four game winners came in the previous 12 wins - being the shooter of the winning goal in 33% of your team's wins is an impressive performance. It's true Grønvold doesn't score much. His six goals are the tenth lowest goal total among all VHLM defensemen. He can't score goals, he's too busy shutting down the opponents by leading Mexico, the best defensive team in the league*, in ice time. Grønvold will never score many goals. But he's been showing his ability to make the goals he does score really count. *as of now, Mexico has allowed the fewest shots against of any team, and is leading the league in penalty kill success rate

  8. While I'm enjoying my hiking trip up north, I have a lot of time to think. Among other things, to think about a media spot. And a lot of time to write too, considering the nights are still pretty short up here. It's almost 10 p.m. now, and while the Sun has already set, there's still enough light to read a book. But I'm offline and can't do much research, so the media spotcan't really be anything data-related. So I'm going to piggyback on a comment I posted a few weeks ago: What would depreciation and retirement look like in my world? Let's come up with some specific numbers too, rather than just talk in abstract. First, let's say there are two players—one is a player of a high-earning member who averages 160 TPE a season; let's call them a very imaginative name—Player A. The second player is a player of a member who maybe isn't interested in giving this game too much effort and averages, let's say, 70 TPE a season. Let's call them, you wouldn't guess, Player B. Now we have two realistic earning patterns to follow. The first thing to establish for this system is age—it matters now! Because in this model, depreciation is based on player age. A player joining in their draft-minus-2 season (after trade deadline) is 17 years old; a player joining in their draft-minus-1 season is 18 years old. One season equals one year of age. To follow the career of Player A and Player B, let's say they both had 30 base TPE and joined the VHL between the VHLM draft and the start of the VHLM season. Age-18 season Both play the season in the VHLM. Player A finishes the season with 190 TPE, or rather with 200 TPE with the +10, and is ready to move to the E for age-19 season. Player B ends the season with 110 TPE including the +10, and will be set to dominate the M in their age-19 season. Age-19 season No depreciation. Player A finishes the season with 375 TPE, including the training camp, ready to move to the VHL next season. Player B finishes with 195 TPE, including the training camp, and will move to the M for his age-20 season. I will automatically include the training camp in the following seasons, without mentioning it. Age-20 season No depreciation. Player A moves to the VHL and is at 550 TPE after their rookie season. Player B ends their E season with 280 TPE and remains in the E. Age-21 season No depreciation. Player A is at 725 TPE, Player B at 365 and chooses to stay in the E for one more season, because they want to dominate and they like the locker room. Age-22 season No depreciation. Player A is at 900 TPE, ready to really break out in the VHL. Player B is at 450 TPE, getting ready for their rookie season in the VHL. Age-23 season No depreciation. Player A is at 1075 TPE, becoming a key player on their team. Player B maybe struggled a bit in their rookie season, but with 535 TPE now, they're ready to provide some depth scoring. Age-24 season No depreciation. Player A is really entering their prime and becoming one of the league's elite players, finishing the season with 1250 TPE. Player B is finding their place on the team's secondary units and is now at 620 TPE. Age-25 season This is the last year without depreciation. Player A chooses to bank the whole year’s earnings, so they finish the season with 1250 TPA and 1425 TPE (175 banked). Player B chooses not to bank and ends the season as a high end complementary player with 705 TPA(E). Age-26 season This is where the depreciation hits the first time. Not much, we're talking 4%. Player A’s 1250 TPA is now at 1200, they use 50 banked to build it back to 1250 TPA, continue banking and end the season with 1600 TPE (300 banked). Player B’s 705 TPA builds depreciates to 677. They still continue to get better, ending the season with a 762 TPA build with 790 TPE. Age-27 season The depreciation gets progressively higher, I'm thinking +50% every season. So before age-27 season, it's 6%. Player A’s 1250 TPA build is at 1175 TPA now. They build it back to 1250 TPA, continue banking and ends the season with 1775 TPE (400 banked). Player B depreciates to 716 TPA. They continue applying and end the season getting slightly better, at 801 TPA and 875 TPE. Age-28 season In my model, the players' careers are longer. The depreciation is now 9%. Player A regresses to 1138 TPA, they rebuild it to 1250 TPA and continue banking, ending the season with 1950 TPE (463 banked). For player B, this Is the last year they're able to stay on top of the depreciation. Their build starts at 729 TPA. Without banking, they finish the season with 814 TPA, 960 TPE. Age-29 season 13.5% depreciation sounds rough, but wait, it's going to get even worse. Player A starts at 1081 TPA, but with lots of banked TPE, the member is able to rebuild them back to 1250 TPA. They end the season with 2125 TPE (469 banked) and this Is the last season they're able to outearn the depreciation. For player B, the outlook is less optimistic as they regress to 704 TPA and end the season with 789 TPA, 1045 TPE. Age-30 season In the NHL, a lot of players start to think about retirement at 30 and their performance can fall off the cliff at any time. For us, age-30 season means 20.3% depreciation. Player A falls down to 996 TPA. But thanks to responsible banking by the member, they're able to build them up again. The member wants to have at least one more season of being one of the league's best, so they fully restore the player to 1250 TPA and continue banking, they end the season with 2300 TPE (390 banked). Player B drops to 628 TPA and is at 713 TPA by the end, with 1130 TPE. Age-31 season Now let's see what the 30.5% shafting does. Player A drops to 869 TPA. Seeing this, the member decides to not fully restore the player, but to take a slight step back and only build the player up to 1100 TPA and continue banking. With this strategy, they end the season with 2475 TPE (334 banked). Player B sees a dropoff to 496 TPA. Sounds nasty, but they decide to give it one more go and to carry on, probably signing with a rebuilding team and ending the season as a 571 TPA player, with the total of 1215 TPE. Age-32 season With 45.8% depreciation, we're entering the unsustainable territory for the most. Player A comes crashing down to 596 TPA. The member does the maths and chooses to apply 304 of their banked TPE to build their player up to respectable 900 TPA and continues banking to end the season with 2650 TPE (207 banked). Player B sees a brutal drop to 309 TPA, meaning they're no longer eligible to play in the VHL and retire after their age-31 season with 648 VHL games under their belt. Age-33 season Before the season, player A is hit with 68.7% depreciation to turn their 900 TPA player into a 282 TPA player, but with their banked TPE, they're able to build the player up to 489 TPA to stay for one more season. They know it's mathematically not possible to come back for an age-34 season, the depreciation is over 100%. So they keep applying their earnings, and retire as a 664 TPA player with 2825 TPE to their name and 1008 VHL regular season games worth of experience. I must admit I don't like the fact you are forced to retire after what's usually the two best seasons of your career. I'd like to see a regression of star players towards the end of their career. This system I'm suggesting forces you to retire once you start the season below 350 TPA or after your age-33 season because of maths. Maybe it would be more realistic to increase the depreciation by 25% instead of by 50%, but I think the careers would then probably be too long. I logging between 576 and 1008 games, depending on your earning, sounds about right. I don't think it's that important for all high earning members to play exactly 576 games, now that it is possible to play 648 for re-creates. Also notice I haven't talked about depreciation fighters. Maybe there could be few? The cheapest one would make next year's depreciation only 40% higher than the last one, the middle one 30% higher, and the most expensive one only 20% higher? I'd have to do the maths to figure out if these numbers are balanced, when it would be possible to buy these, and how much would they cost, but I'm not doing it right now. That's all I had on my mind for now. Tommorrow I'm arriving in Trondheim and spending the weekend there, I should be able to find a WiFi to post this.
  9. A1: No. I love dogs, but I'm all about the single household living and often work long hours, I can't ethically justify having one. I have a few reptiles though. A2: I have no idea. I've heard we (Czechia) did well in fencing, but I only know that because one of the guys is from my city. I didn't follow it, I only watched the opening - I love Gojira. A3: Hell yeah! I know our (Wild) season will be a dud, but it doesn't stop me from being excited about Kaprizov, Faber, Rossi and Faber! ---------- Q1: Summer is a music fest season, have you/will you attend/ed any? Q2: If your player had to take part in the Summer Olympics this offseason, what sport would they compete in and how would they do? Q3: Do you prefer to do Summer sports, or Winter sports?
  10. Yup. After finishing it, I kinda wished I had put the whole flag there - on the left side it would be just the flag instead of transparency, and the right side would be how it it. But I was too tired, it was late night already lol
  11. I wonder how long until @Gaikoku-hito starts thinking about a guillotine again
  12. I've read it as "bounce off his shiny ass"

  14. Even though 200 TPA is not enough to really get creative with the build, there certainly are a few different player types the members go for. In the VHL, I would probably do a breakdown of all EA NHL player types. For the M, I'm going to restrict the player types to just five. Also, this article is based on my opinion on the players’ builds, keep in mind I probably don't know what I'm talking about. Scoring forward: Youre Not Fucking Retiring (PHI) @twists I was deciding between YNFR and Brandon Petan Jr for this one. Both are tied for the league's best ability to Score (67) and prefer to shoot than to pass, but I went with YNFR because of the supporting stats. YNFR has average Skating (50) ability and slightly above average Puck Handling (52) and Strength (55), all of these should help them maintain possession, control the puck and get to the position to score. Playmaking forward: Clapbomb Bardownski III (MIS) @Eb14 While CB3 doesn't have the best Pass (58) in the league, it's its combination with Puck Handling (55) and Defense (53) that makes them in my opinion a more effective playmaker, than many players with better Pass but sub-par collateral stats. CB3 will Score (53) some goals as well, especially on tips and rebounds, but their assists total should be significantly higher. Two-way forward: Clapbomb Bardownski III (MIS) @Eb14 The Swiss army knife of a player makes the second appearance on my list. Does it make them the MVP forward in my opinion? Probably. On top of their playmaking prowess, they also bring high end Defense (53) and are no stranger to Checking (43) either. While their average Skating (49) could hold them back a bit, I believe they still are the best possession driving force in the M at the moment, thanks to their Defense, solid Strength (50) and great Puck Handling (55). Puck moving defenseman: River Harrington (OTT) @kirbithan Harrington can both Score (50) and Pass (50), while still contributing with high end Defense (62). But what really stands out is their elite Puck Handling (66), allowing them to maintain possession and create space, despite their rather average Skating (50). Defensive defenseman: Alagsantere Grønvold (MEX) I'm biased, but my player boasts the league's highest Defense (70), league's highest Skating (56) to stay in good position, decent Strength (52) and Puck Handling (53) to not lose the puck to every hit, and plays with some edge (Checking: 45), even though he's far from being the most punishing hitter around.
  15. 1. I'd say our top end talent, we have 7 players who could be capped come playoff time, that's really, really good. 2. Depth, we could definitely use a D-man and two more forwards to complete our roster. The less time bots are on the ice, the better. 3. Grønvold is a defensive beast, definitely his shutdown ability. His defensive awareness might be the best in the league, and he can outskate and outmuscle pretty much anyone in the M. 4. His offensive abilities. I do expect Grønvold to finish the season around point per game simply because of how Simon works, but his offensive game in isolation is pretty much nonexistent. 5. I'd say Houston. On paper, us and the Bulls are the strongest teams in the West. 6. Top 3 in the league is definitely possible, especially if se can complete our team via waivers or trades. We have some gamebreaking talent that can compete with anyone.
  16. Nice to see a thread like this, enjoy your games! I won't be taking part (timezones, plus to me it's nowhere near as enjoyable online), but I love me some DnD, I'm currently playing in two campaigns and DMing a series of somewhat interconnected one shots
  17. I'm so out of the loop lol. I know they're like super controversial member, I know they were banned and that's it. I've only had like two interactions with them and can't say anything negative. I guess I should be more active, other than earning lol
  18. @Scurvy Share a few?
  19. Quality of shots and anything regarding expected goals is impossible to do without shot map tho. I'd very much like to do a part with HD/MD/LD Sv% and GSAx lol
  20. While the final result of the Junior Showcase Tournament is yet to be decided, the VHLM scouts have already wrapped up their reports and are on the way to the VHLM dispersal draft, set to start in just a few hours. A few high-end prospects are not going to be present because of the aforementioned tournament as well as the World Junior Championship. But they surely will be watching online and ready to receive a call from their new boss. Among the prospects unable to attend is Alagsantere Grønvold, a shutdown defenseman projected to go as high as mid-first round. He's too busy at the moment locking down the blue line of JST's best defensive team, who's currently up 2-0 in the final round. "I try not to think about the draft too much; there's hockey to be played right here, right now," said Grønvold. "Sure, I've gone through a few interviews, but right now, I have no hunch where I might end up. Dad would love me to play for the Aces, who knows. But I believe I can be an asset to any team. Regardless of where I play, I'm going to bring my A game." In a draft this deep in high-end defensive talent, it's definitely going to be interesting to see where the towering Greenlander ends up.
