Review: Really like this creative graphic! There is a lot going on but in a really good way. The background texture/filter looks awesome, the fade on the right side of the background to the darker colors look great. The player has a painterly comic book feel to it and it helps to make them pop out from the background without things feeling too busy. The layout of the text with the yellow border is nice. The logo placement looks good. The only note I have is the ‘h’ in White, the top of the text is tangenting the top of the yellow strip and could have been moved down just a smidge. But this looks fantastic, rating it a 9.5/10!

Review: Is the title a play of that awful ‘Lips of an Angel’ song haha? Either way, clever title and a fun looking graphic. I like the player layout especially with the multiple player images. The logos are done well. The colors match the team colors perfectly. Very nice job on the jersey paintover, it looks like it was always those colors. The little highlights around the players add a little extra ‘zing!’ to it. I just have one note which is that the Riga Reign in the top left corner is hard to read. I’m thinking it is supposed to be subtle but it looks a bit like scribbles at the top. Very nice looking graphic, giving this a 9.5/10!

Review: Nice looking graphic! I like the grungy texture of this. The color scheme is great. The layout of the player and text works well together. The team logo on the jersey and the VHL logo are integrated very well. The only note I have is the light blue text of Menace has some letters feeling lost. The ‘M’ and ‘A’ on the white part of the jersey for the text/color makes it hard to read. But all together this looks really good! Rating this a 9.5/10!

Review: A very clean and sleek looking graphic! Everything about this graphic works so well. The layout of the player, text and background looks great. The color scheme of the graphic is awesome. The slightly tilted city background adds a little flare. The fade out of the text ‘Jason’ on its edges looks fantastic. Only thing I would note on, would be to swap out the NHL logo on the jersey to a VHL one. Otherwise what a beauty! Giving this one a 9.5/10.

Nice article! It was a great read, always look forward to them -
Review: A very clean looking graphic! I especially like the Malmo logo without the team name. The player, logo and text layout is nicely done. The placement of the text overtop of the first player is an interesting choice. But I think it works. The way the colors of the team for the player’s name blend behind him is a smart choice and doesn’t take away from the player or the name itself. Logo placements blend in well and look great. Nice work! Rating a 10/10.

Review: This graphic is seamless! The jersey logos on both jerseys look fantastic. They’ve been integrated very well and look as if they are part of the jersey. The grunge background with the team colors is eye-catching but is not distracting. The gold on the jerseys match the logo gold/color very well. The text with the shadow helps it to pop out. All in all this is an awesome looking graphic as always! Rating a 10/10!

Review: I always enjoy checking out your graphics! This is definitely another solid piece. The logo on the jersey is integrated very well. The background looks great with the team colors and city. The team colors for the background fade nicely into one another. The placement of the text is nice. I like how part of the last name is behind the player but still readable. I like the motion blur you've added to the player, it just adds a little extra to the graphic and works. Nice work, rating this a 9.5/10! -
Review: What a fun VHL graphic for the Holidays! Fantastic jersey color swap, festive text, colors, the bow and tag! They all fit together very well. The layout looks great. The logo color swap was done so well and looks seamless. The tag with the bow is a nice addition. The title of the graphic was also perfect haha. Those antlers are the cherry on top! Really great work, got to rate this as a 10/10 !

Improving The Recruitment Onboarding Process Recruitment has been the hot topic of conversation on the forums over the past few days as the VHLM has been feeling the hit of less active members and social media being the main form of advertising over the past few months (ie IG and Twitter). With everyone weighing in on their opinion about Recruitment, it comes with no surprise that the Board of Governors have decided to choose ‘Recruitment’ as this week’s Theme Week. Staying on trend with selecting popular form content for Theme Week! There is a lot happening behind the scenes with the Recruitment Team that the general VHL public doesn’t know about. This has contributed to the slow progression of the Recruitment team’s advertising. However, I’m not here to talk about the behind the scenes of Recruitment as it mostly just boils down to time and member involvement for Ads trickling out which the Recruitment team is actively working on. I’m here to go over the Recruitment Onboarding process for new Recruitment Team members and how we can improve upon that process. I personally found joining the Recruitment Team to be a bit of a challenge in terms of where information lives and what was expected beyond the obvious social media, Youtube and Reddit posts. Advertising for an Open Recruitment Position In the past when it’s been advertised on the form that a space has opened up on the Recruitment Team, the information being supplied on what the position involves has been very limited. It would be helpful for the applicants if we listed more of what was involved and expected. For example: Updating social media and being part of a weekly rotation (Twitter, IG), this would include but not be limited to: Engaging with other social media accounts by commenting, liking, resharing, asking for other accounts to promote our league in their stories, reels or posts Engaging with other social media accounts that are not just NHL related (ie artists, writers, journalists, etc) Checking the forum for new content to post (stats, standings, media spots, VSN articles, graphics, podcasts, etc) Asking VHL graphic volunteers for promotional images or videos to post If using IG posting with trending music and tags to pull more views in Researching numerous social media candidates for advertising on various sites (IG, Twitter, Youtube, Tiktok, etc) Being comfortable reaching out to potential social media candidates to promote VHL ads Negotiating costs Working with the Recruitment Team for feedback on your candidate Working with the Board of Governors and Head of Recruitment for cost approvals Sending out ad reads to candidates Reddit Drives Reaching out to hockey subreddit mods and posting in subreddits Checking the VHL Reddit account for comments or questions and replying back to the community General Advertising Looking into General Customized Ads Researching costs and length of Ad run days Writing Ad descriptions within a character limit Coming up with a Promotional Graphic/Video or choosing a pre-existing one Proposing ideas to the team, BOG, and Commish Getting Cost Approval Executing Ad Organization, Tracking and Planning Planning an ad? Keeping the information organized on the VHL Drive for tracking and history purposes Coming up with new recruitment ideas and following through on the execution of new recruitment ideas Reaching out to the graphics volunteers for recruitment graphics for Ads and having ideas of what you’d need them to help create as well as proper resolutions depending on where the ad is going Saving original Ad images/files somewhere accessible for the Recruitment Team New VHL Forum Members Welcoming new members Supporting new members by being available for questions new members may have Checking the forum and discord for any tags to recruitment and looking into those requests or comments Onboarding Documentation for new Recruitment Members Once members have joined the Recruitment Team there isn’t much information in the VHL Recruitment Google Drive or through our Discord to walk people through what is expected or what the process is for some of the Recruitment Drives. Most of the previous recruitment drive efforts are remembered through past or current BOG, Commish or Recruitment members, but having the information or data organized somewhere would help shed light for new members on what did and didn’t work. What we can try again or steer clear of. This wouldn’t just help new members but also help current recruitment members check on what is currently happening or has happened and the results of it. There is a really great documentation for Twitter and what is expected. The hope is to extend that documentation not just with Twitter but over to other areas of Recruitment as well. For example: Reddit There currently isn’t documentation on which Sub Reddits we’ve reached out to, which ones were willing to work with us before and which ones have banned us from posting. To find this information you have to scroll through many reddit messages on the VHL Reddit account or scroll back through the Discord chat histories Youtube, same feedback as Reddit. We don’t have a list anywhere of Youtubers we’ve worked with before who may be willing to work with us again and how much their prices were, or a list of people to potentially not work with again. To find this information you’d have to go through all previous VHL emails or check Discord chat history General Ads and Statistics of Ads If we could keep track of when we last did a general ad through Google Docs (Google, IG, Youtube, etc) and if it was successful in bringing in new members then we can at least keep a history of what did and didn’t work previously. We can try it again in a few years time or with a different approach. It would be great to know the cost associated with a previous ad and time between ads so we are not posting too little or too often. If this was tracked we’d be able to compare and know. Overall small organizational tracking, planning and execution of Recruitment involvement would be very beneficial in the long run to not just new recruitment members but current ones as well. Being open about what the job entails will help potential new candidates know the ins and outs of what they are signing up for. Let’s continue to work on getting the Recruitment team the best it can be! Word Count: 1068
