  1. In a thrilling display of hockey prowess and determination, the Cologne Express emerged victorious in a dramatic sweep of the Istanbul Red Wolves to claim the prestigious VHLE championship. The series showcased some of the finest talents in the VHLE, with the Express proving their dominance on the ice and leaving fans in awe of their exceptional skills. The victory celebration that followed the sweep of the Istanbul Red Wolves was a spectacle to behold. Cologne fans poured onto the ice to celebrate their team's triumph. The players were honored for their efforts and dedication to the sport, as they lifted the VHLE championship trophy high above their heads, basking in the glory of their hard-earned success. The team's exceptional display of skill, teamwork, and sheer determination propelled them to victory, cementing their legacy as champions of the VHLE. It was a pretty well spread out effort as well as seven players finished with 8 points or better in the playoffs. Well done Express! 164 words
  2. 1) I honestly did pay much attention to the VHLM playoffs as I was in the VHLE but San Diego welcomed me into their locker room when I was brand new so I am good with them winning it if it's not Mississauga Hounds. 2) I think it's good if it means more real players will be on the teams. 3) I honestly don't know, I'm sorry 1) Will HC Davos Dynamo be able to come back in the VHL finals? 2) Cologne won the VHLE in a sweep! Did you have the Express to win it all? 3) Has it been abnormally hot where you live this month? Can we bring the winter and snow already?
  3. 1) I don't have a preference as we're going to need to beat the best teams to win it all so we might as well face whoever comes our way. 2) I'd love to win the championship! I don't know how many rounds we'll last but I expect to win at least one round. 3) This is my players first VHLE playoff and I am hoping he shows up and helps the team 4) Going to go with Justin Lion - going to need some big games from him to go deep 5) I think he may actually drop from that lofty mark but I'm hoping it's enough 6) Some bratwurst with sauerkraut

He was previously a rookie for the Mississauga Hounds last season, the Cologne Express this season and the menace next season!" [Text on screen: #JeffLewis #VHLE #CologneExpress #HockeyHero #VHL #MoscowMenace] Narrator (Voiceover): "Catch Jeff Lewis in action, only with the Moscow Menace of the VHL in season 90 - where legends are made!" [Upbeat Music fades out] DISCLAIMER: All statistics and achievements mentioned in this media spot are based on the S89 VHLE season and are subject to change in future seasons. In all seriousness, it's been a lot of fun seeing the progress of Jeff Lewis the player and him actually contributing has really kept me interested and involved outside of a few weeks of welfare. It's been a lot of fun and I look forward to the next step which I'm sure will be a pretty hefty challenge! 512 words

We have apps that work for the league? (I ask as I had no idea!) I asked about an API but was shot down
  6. The Cologne Express wrapped up their season 89 in pretty good shape finishing third in the VHLE with 95 points. They trailed only Geneva Rush who had 96 and Istanbul Red Wolves who had a strong 105 points. While finishing third, the Express was first in goals for with 268 and second in goal differential with 82 (Istanbul had a differential of 88). While the Express had a lot of excellent showings from players as far as points go, they were led by two defencemen. Sigma Freud scored 94 points in 77 games (and led all VHLE defencemen in points) and Cameron Elsby had 87 also in 77 games. That 87 points was tied with Thor Odinson the top scoring forward on Cologne. Elsby and Freud were both tied for the most powerplay goals in the VHLE as well with 14. Even with the high scoring on the team, I'd have to give my team most valuable player nod to goalie Justin Lion who had a pretty strong season himself. He finished with a goals against average of 2.19 (third in the VHLE) and a save percentage of .929 and led the VHLE in shutouts with 6. Next up, the Express will face Geneva Rush in the playoffs! 208 words
  7. 1) I assume you mean for the team? We have a lot of good players and several options that could work but I'm going to have to suggest our goalie Justin Lion. He has been extremely solid. 2) It's really hard to say since there is a close pack of about 4 teams that keep shuffling positions. I guess I could see us finishing in second or third. However, we have three games coming up against Istanbul and if we swept them we could even challenge for first! 3) I am definitely happy with how my player has done. At one point I was among the rookie scoring leaders and am still doing quite well. Definitely happy with the season for him. 4) I am guessing I'll be in Cologne next season still. Nothing wrong with that at all! 5) Pretzels or pineapple 6) I can't remember that far back to movies I really liked. I always liked TMNT movies/shows, some GI Joe, but I can't recall any specific movies. Stargate as I got a bit older though
  8. Happy Birthday to the VHL and a huge thanks to those that have helped run it both past and present!
  9. Just coming in before the trade deadline was an absolutely huge trade between the Cologne Express and the Vasteras Iron Eagles. The trade breaks down as follows: To Cologne Express: Jack Quill Mason Rice Montgomery Burns To Vasteras Iron Eagles: Brayden Albrecht James MacAvoy S91 COL 3rd Cologne lands the best player in the deal in Montgomery Burns who was already producing at a strong rate (22 goals, 20 assists and 42 points in 46 games) and while playing for struggling Vasteras. Already in three games since the deal he has added two goals to up his total to 24 on the season. Also coming across was Mason Rice who was second in scoring (Burns was first) for Vasteras (15 goals, 18 assists, 33 points in 46 games). Sturdy defender Jack Quill was the final piece going to Cologne. Quill led the Iron Eagles in shot blocks (94) and also added in a healthy 23 points. Going to Vasteras was a lot of futures. A S91 COL 3rd was the pick that went over along with veteran Brayden Albrecht who has already scored a goal and an assist with the Iron Eagles. Prospect James MacAvoy was the final piece going over to Vasteras. MacAvoy has 13 goals and 19 assists for 32 points in 45 games for the Mississauga Hounds. Time will tell who won this deal but the early indications are this was an Express win for sure. 239 words
  10. 1) Definitely Montgomery Burns! Kind of kept an eye on him as we're in the same draft class (S89!) 2) The final trade alone was impressive enough, we're in a good place now and it will be interesting to see how we do for the rest of the season. 3) Had high hopes for first but I'm guessing we'll settle into third or fourth which is still great. 4) Was Oslo Storm, is still Oslo Storm. 5) I wasn't in the VHLE last season so I am doing quite well I think for my rookie season in the VHLE. I'm happy with the results so far. 6) Always liked my laces tight!
  11. We're now halfway through the S89 VHLE season and while the league remains tight, there has started to be a tiny bit of separation near the top of the standings. Istanbul Red Wolves sit in first with 53 points. They were in third last time we checked in on the standings. Oslo Storm are second at 50 points and were fourth last time we wrote about the VHLE. Cologne Express are at 49 points and have fallen from their previous tie for first with Geneva Rush who have actually fallen to fourth at 47 points. Rome Gladiators are still hanging in there with 44 points but the Bratislava Watchmen have started to fall well back now sitting with 34 points - a full 19 points out of first place. The second half of the season should be exciting to watch as teams jockey for positioning heading into the playoffs. Unfortunately for two teams, their seasons appear over already. Vasteras Iron Eagles are well back with only 18 points and even further back sitting last in the VHLE are the Stockholm Vikings. The Vikings are having a very tough go of things this season having only won 3 games so far and have six points. They also have the league worst goal differential with a whopping -132. They have had a pretty lofty fall from last season where they finished sixth with 74 points. 232 words
  12. Yay I get to be commissioner for a day! I mean really it's not something I'd be into as I'm sure it's a lot of work and I'm already super busy but this way could be fun! I'm still relatively new to the VHL though so I haven't really found any real pain points or things I'd change. The VHLE: I suppose this is one thing I'd change, and I'd probably remove the VHLE and expand the TPE allowed in the VHLM. For myself I joined and had only a single season with my VHLM team (the Mississauga Hounds) before getting the call up. Would have been nice to get a couple season in under my first team before going up tho the minors. I do like the idea behind the VHLE but I also think it would be nicer to have an expanded minors career. There are also so many bots on teams in both the VHLE and VHLM that it would be nice to have more actual players filling the available slots. The Player Store: I'd like to see more clarify on the various items in the store. I may be missing a description somewhere aside from the one in the store but I did nearly buy a couple items then rolled it back. An example is the Point Task Upgrade. It says "Adds 1 Capped TPE to your weekly point task (media spot, graphic, etc.) Remains active for 8 weeks of the season." so I was under the assumption I could buy it and for 8 weeks I'd get an extra TPE point available. I still don't think I fully understand what it actually means but it didn't mean what I thought. it's the same thing as the VHL.com/Radio Upgrade option as well. Might be real clear for players that have been around a bit but I was confused for sure. Mobile Apps: I swore I read there was a mobile app at one time but I couldn't find the post again. I guess you can view the site on your phone as is but I thought it might be cool to see some of the player management stuff in an app. Or the stats both player and team along with standings. Who knows what else you could pack into there but after reading about the old app I was intrigued. Recruitment/Retention: As with any sort of online league like this, it's important to both recruit fresh people and keep the ones we have. I think the league does a great job with the welfare option for those short on time but maybe some more outreach could be done to see why others have left. I am not familiar with the current league activities surrounding these two things so maybe it's already underway but just something I thought of. Outside of that, I don't think there is much I'd change as I really enjoy the league as it stands now. I thank those in charge now and with various jobs in the league as you keep things running for everyone to enjoy. 517 words
  13. 1) Not really, I'll try to squeeze out the suggested words but I am terrible at these things. Only have a couple of things I think I'd change anyway. 2) I think I'll say the Oslo Storm not only because we are fighting with them for positioning but because Winston Dixon jr beat me up in game 134. 3) Not sure, didn't think we had fighters on the team. Heck didn't think I was a fighter but have three (1-1-1) already. 4) Would probably take care of animals in shelters or something, even though there isn't much wildlife in Cologne 5) I see no problem with Henry so don't see the need to speculate on a new mascot. Our logo is a train, what would our mascot be? A conductor? 6) I drink neither tea or coffee, never wanted to form a dependence on either one so never bothered. If I HAD to choose one I'd probably drink just plain old orange pekoe tea with a bit of sugar.
  14. Is there a log to see your store purchases and income claims?
  15. We're nearly a third of the way through the VHLE season and the league is looking fairly tight with the exception of The Stockholm Vikings and the Vasteras Iron Eagles. Any of the other six remaining teams could find themselves out of a playoff spot when the season ends as the difference between first and sixth is just six points. Leading the way in a tie are the Cologne Express and Geneva Rush both tied with 32 points. Right behind them are the Istanbul Red Wolves with 31 points. A three point gap then leads to the next set of teams including Oslo Storm (28 points), Rome Gladiators (27 points), and Bratislava Watchmen (26 points). If we look at goal differential, the Express are comfortably in the lead there with a positive differential of 40 goals. After the Express are both the Rush and the Red Wolves with a positive differential of 29. The Storm are a positive 19, the Gladiators a positive 9 and the Watchmen close to even with a positive 1. Should be an exciting finish for the rest of the season! 185 words
  16. We're done here except for the last two picks right?
  17. 1) The Shawshank Redemption probably, was such a good movie I thought. 2) Avatar 2! it's been a bit since I've gone last. 3) My player is actually doing pretty good! It's nice to see him doing so well in his first season in the VHLE Q1) It's early in the season but do you have a favourite to win the VHL? Q2) Similar question, what about the VHLE? Q3) If you could improve the drafting of the VHFL teams, what would you do?

  20. Introduction: In any highly competitive league, every team dreams of a blazing start to the season that sets them apart from the rest of the league. For the Cologne Express, that dream has become a reality in the VHLE. With an impressive record of 9 wins, 2 losses, and 2 overtime losses, the Express has emerged as a dominant force in the league, captivating fans and leaving their opponents in awe. Let's dive into their scintillating performance and explore the factors behind their remarkable success. Explosive Offense: One of the key catalysts behind the Cologne Express' formidable start has been their explosive offense. Led by a potent combination of skilled forwards, the team has been scoring goals at an astonishing pace. The Express has consistently showcased their offensive prowess, averaging an impressive 4.2 goals per game. Whether it's the precision passing, remarkable stick handling, or the ability to find the back of the net with clinical accuracy, Cologne's offensive unit has been a nightmare for opposing goaltenders. Dynamic Duo: At the forefront of the Express' offensive onslaught are two standout players who have become a nightmare for opposing teams. Anchoring the blue line for the Express, Cameron Elsby and Al Land playing wing have been instrumental in the team's success. Elsby has demonstrated exceptional playmaking skills, leading the league with an impressive 19 assists and adding 4 goals for a total of 23 points. Land, on the other hand, has been a scoring machine with 9 goals and 11 assists, accumulating 20 points. Their combined efforts and on-ice chemistry have given the Express a formidable one-two punch that is tough to contain. Solid Goaltending: While the Express' offense has been grabbing the headlines, the team's success would not be complete without the outstanding performance of their goaltender, Justin Lion. Lion has been a stalwart between the pipes, consistently making remarkable saves and providing a strong presence in the net. His ability to read the game, anticipate plays, and come up with crucial saves has been instrumental in Cologne's victories. Lion's composure and skill have given the Express a sense of security, allowing them to play with confidence and take risks on offense. Team Cohesion: Another factor contributing to the Express' red-hot start has been the exceptional team cohesion displayed on the ice. The players' understanding of each other's strengths and playing styles has fostered a sense of unity and chemistry that translates into a well-oiled machine on the ice. Team leadership places an emphasis on team culture and a collective approach to the game which has created an environment where each player knows their role and executes it to perfection. Conclusion: With a stunning record of 9 wins, 2 losses, and 2 overtime losses, the Cologne Express has firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the VHLE. Their explosive offense, led by the dynamic duo of Cameron Elsby and Al Land, has been a nightmare for opposing teams. The solid goaltending provided by Justin Lion has added an extra layer of security, while the team's cohesion and unity have been instrumental in their success. As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on the Express, eager to see if they can maintain their sizzling form and continue their quest for VHLE glory. 546 words
  21. After scoring 84 points in 72 games in the VHLM for the Mississauga Hounds in his rookie season, he was drafted by the Cologne Express and called up for season 89. Worried about how he'd do against the higher level of skill, he has so far fit in quite well. He currently has 9 goals, 8 assists for 17 points in 13 games so a very nice start to his VHLE career. Tied for third in the league for goals, he's really hoping to keep things going as his team is off to a fantastic start going 9-2-2 and currently sit on top of the standings with 20 points and have the highest goal differential in the league at +21. After leading the VHLM in shots in season 88 he is taking far less shots this season so far but his accuracy is way up with a shot percentage of an unsustainable 17.65%. While he figures this will start to drop soon he's also hoping to start shooting more as he has in the past. Should be a good season for him! 182 words

  23. Just saw this and am going to assume I'm up even though I didn't get a ping. G - Clueless Wallob @STZ If I should have waited, let me know and I can adjust. I'm sure we want to get this rolling though.
  24. 1) We're doing pretty good! Off to a quick start which is nice but there are a lot of games left. 2) Bratislava Watchmen are doing pretty good so far! 3) Cologne is looking pretty strong! 4) Probably the ability to read minds, would be nice! Or invisibility so I can creep around. 5) I'd probably go back in time. Would love to see dinosaurs from a safe distance or see how they really built things like the pyramids and stuff like that. Pair that with my invisibility and I'm good to go! 6) I love otters and beavers for some reason, they are so cute! But my favourite has to be dogs I guess, I love having a dog.
  25. In the world of VHL hockey, the transition from the minor leagues to the VHLE league is a huge step up for any player. Such is the case for Jeff Lewis, a talented forward whose hard work and dedication have earned him a well-deserved graduation to the VHLE. Lewis, a rising star in the sport, was recently drafted by the Cologne Express, a prestigious team known for their rich history and passionate fan base. Drafted in the 3rd round and 23rd overall was a bit of a shock for Lewis as he expected he'd go higher after being drafted 6th overall in the VHLM and 10th overall in the VHL. This was definitely a wake up call for him letting him know that he needs to continue to work hard on his skills every day. Lewis began his hockey journey in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where he honed his skills on the local rinks. From a young age, it was clear that he possessed exceptional talent and a natural feel for the game. His love for hockey propelled him to pursue his dreams, and he eventually found himself playing in the VHLM. The past year, Lewis was a force to be reckoned with in the VHLM, consistently standing out as a top scorer and threat when he had the puck. His strong speed, agility, and accurate shooting ability have caught the attention of talent scouts, who recognized his potential to make a significant impact in higher-level competition. The VHLE, renowned for its high level of competition and top-tier talent, has long been Lewis's aspiration. With his hard work and dedication paying off, the talented forward was finally granted the opportunity to showcase his skills at the VHLE level. The Cologne Express were surprised at his availability so far down in the draft, recognized Lewis's potential and wasted no time in securing his services. The transition to the VHLE will undoubtedly be a challenge for Lewis, as he faces tougher opponents and an increased level of competition. However, his experience in the VHLM has prepared him well for this next chapter in his hockey career. Lewis's relentless work ethic, combined with his natural talent, will undoubtedly propel him forward as he strives to make a lasting impact in the VHLE. As Lewis steps onto the ice wearing the Cologne Express jersey, the opportunity to learn from experienced veterans and compete alongside some of the best players in the world will undoubtedly contribute to his development as a professional athlete. With his skill set and determination, Jeff Lewis has the potential to become a key player for the Cologne Express, making significant contributions to the team's success. Fans eagerly anticipate witnessing his explosive shot and ability to find the back of the net in the VHLE arena. In conclusion, Jeff Lewis's graduation to the VHLE's Cologne Express marks an important milestone in his hockey career. 485 words
