Thank you kindly to everyone that applied for the open Recruitment Position. As you all know, Moon stepped down to focus his attention on other area’s of the league. It was a tough decision and we went back and forth after the interviews debating who would best fill that role. With that being said I would like to congratulate @Subject056 on being selected as a new member of the Recruitment Team. She has been making waves since joining the VHL and we are excited to have a fresh new set of eyes that can help us bring recruitment to new heights.

With that being said, there’s more!

I have decided to step down from the Recruitment Team. I too want to focus more of my attention on existing roles in this league (Mod Team/CGY GM) and I feel the Recruitment Team needs a fresh set of eyes in the room to help it progress further. I’d like to congratulate @AJW on being hired as a Recruitment Team member. AJ has really stepped up his activity in this league and was very passionate about joining this team. He will make an excellent replacement for myself.

    Congratulations everyone!

nerji got a reaction from Masu Chan in Halfway Mark of the VHLE Season
We're now halfway through the S89 VHLE season and while the league remains tight, there has started to be a tiny bit of separation near the top of the standings. Istanbul Red Wolves sit in first with 53 points. They were in third last time we checked in on the standings.

Oslo Storm are second at 50 points and were fourth last time we wrote about the VHLE. Cologne Express are at 49 points and have fallen from their previous tie for first with Geneva Rush who have actually fallen to fourth at 47 points. Rome Gladiators are still hanging in there with 44 points but the Bratislava Watchmen have started to fall well back now sitting with 34 points - a full 19 points out of first place.

The second half of the season should be exciting to watch as teams jockey for positioning heading into the playoffs.

Unfortunately for two teams, their seasons appear over already. Vasteras Iron Eagles are well back with only 18 points and even further back sitting last in the VHLE are the Stockholm Vikings. The Vikings are having a very tough go of things this season having only won 3 games so far and have six points. They also have the league worst goal differential with a whopping -132. They have had a pretty lofty fall from last season where they finished sixth with 74 points.

Yay I get to be commissioner for a day! I mean really it's not something I'd be into as I'm sure it's a lot of work and I'm already super busy but this way could be fun! I'm still relatively new to the VHL though so I haven't really found any real pain points or things I'd change.

The VHLE: I suppose this is one thing I'd change, and I'd probably remove the VHLE and expand the TPE allowed in the VHLM. For myself I joined and had only a single season with my VHLM team (the Mississauga Hounds) before getting the call up. Would have been nice to get a couple season in under my first team before going up tho the minors. I do like the idea behind the VHLE but I also think it would be nicer to have an expanded minors career. There are also so many bots on teams in both the VHLE and VHLM that it would be nice to have more actual players filling the available slots.

The Player Store: I'd like to see more clarify on the various items in the store. I may be missing a description somewhere aside from the one in the store but I did nearly buy a couple items then rolled it back. An example is the Point Task Upgrade. It says "Adds 1 Capped TPE to your weekly point task (media spot, graphic, etc.) Remains active for 8 weeks of the season." so I was under the assumption I could buy it and for 8 weeks I'd get an extra TPE point available. I still don't think I fully understand what it actually means but it didn't mean what I thought. it's the same thing as the VHL.com/Radio Upgrade option as well. Might be real clear for players that have been around a bit but I was confused for sure.

Mobile Apps: I swore I read there was a mobile app at one time but I couldn't find the post again. I guess you can view the site on your phone as is but I thought it might be cool to see some of the player management stuff in an app. Or the stats both player and team along with standings. Who knows what else you could pack into there but after reading about the old app I was intrigued.

Recruitment/Retention: As with any sort of online league like this, it's important to both recruit fresh people and keep the ones we have. I think the league does a great job with the welfare option for those short on time but maybe some more outreach could be done to see why others have left. I am not familiar with the current league activities surrounding these two things so maybe it's already underway but just something I thought of.

Outside of that, I don't think there is much I'd change as I really enjoy the league as it stands now. I thank those in charge now and with various jobs in the league as you keep things running for everyone to enjoy.

nerji got a reaction from Subject056 in The VHLE is looking pretty competitive around the first third of the season
We're nearly a third of the way through the VHLE season and the league is looking fairly tight with the exception of The Stockholm Vikings and the Vasteras Iron Eagles. Any of the other six remaining teams could find themselves out of a playoff spot when the season ends as the difference between first and sixth is just six points.

Leading the way in a tie are the Cologne Express and Geneva Rush both tied with 32 points. Right behind them are the Istanbul Red Wolves with 31 points. A three point gap then leads to the next set of teams including Oslo Storm (28 points), Rome Gladiators (27 points), and Bratislava Watchmen (26 points).

If we look at goal differential, the Express are comfortably in the lead there with a positive differential of 40 goals. After the Express are both the Rush and the Red Wolves with a positive differential of 29. The Storm are a positive 19, the Gladiators a positive 9 and the Watchmen close to even with a positive 1.

Should be an exciting finish for the rest of the season!

    Introduction:

In any highly competitive league, every team dreams of a blazing start to the season that sets them apart from the rest of the league. For the Cologne Express, that dream has become a reality in the VHLE. With an impressive record of 9 wins, 2 losses, and 2 overtime losses, the Express has emerged as a dominant force in the league, captivating fans and leaving their opponents in awe. Let's dive into their scintillating performance and explore the factors behind their remarkable success.

    Explosive Offense:

One of the key catalysts behind the Cologne Express' formidable start has been their explosive offense. Led by a potent combination of skilled forwards, the team has been scoring goals at an astonishing pace. The Express has consistently showcased their offensive prowess, averaging an impressive 4.2 goals per game. Whether it's the precision passing, remarkable stick handling, or the ability to find the back of the net with clinical accuracy, Cologne's offensive unit has been a nightmare for opposing goaltenders.

    Dynamic Duo:

At the forefront of the Express' offensive onslaught are two standout players who have become a nightmare for opposing teams. Anchoring the blue line for the Express, Cameron Elsby and Al Land playing wing have been instrumental in the team's success. Elsby has demonstrated exceptional playmaking skills, leading the league with an impressive 19 assists and adding 4 goals for a total of 23 points. Land, on the other hand, has been a scoring machine with 9 goals and 11 assists, accumulating 20 points. Their combined efforts and on-ice chemistry have given the Express a formidable one-two punch that is tough to contain.

    Solid Goaltending:

While the Express' offense has been grabbing the headlines, the team's success would not be complete without the outstanding performance of their goaltender, Justin Lion. Lion has been a stalwart between the pipes, consistently making remarkable saves and providing a strong presence in the net. His ability to read the game, anticipate plays, and come up with crucial saves has been instrumental in Cologne's victories. Lion's composure and skill have given the Express a sense of security, allowing them to play with confidence and take risks on offense.

    Team Cohesion:

Another factor contributing to the Express' red-hot start has been the exceptional team cohesion displayed on the ice. The players' understanding of each other's strengths and playing styles has fostered a sense of unity and chemistry that translates into a well-oiled machine on the ice. Team leadership places an emphasis on team culture and a collective approach to the game which has created an environment where each player knows their role and executes it to perfection.

    Conclusion:

With a stunning record of 9 wins, 2 losses, and 2 overtime losses, the Cologne Express has firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the VHLE. Their explosive offense, led by the dynamic duo of Cameron Elsby and Al Land, has been a nightmare for opposing teams. The solid goaltending provided by Justin Lion has added an extra layer of security, while the team's cohesion and unity have been instrumental in their success. As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on the Express, eager to see if they can maintain their sizzling form and continue their quest for VHLE glory.

nerji got a reaction from Spartan in Quick start for Jeff Lewis in his first season in the VHLE
After scoring 84 points in 72 games in the VHLM for the Mississauga Hounds in his rookie season, he was drafted by the Cologne Express and called up for season 89.

Worried about how he'd do against the higher level of skill, he has so far fit in quite well. He currently has 9 goals, 8 assists for 17 points in 13 games so a very nice start to his VHLE career. Tied for third in the league for goals, he's really hoping to keep things going as his team is off to a fantastic start going 9-2-2 and currently sit on top of the standings with 20 points and have the highest goal differential in the league at +21.

After leading the VHLM in shots in season 88 he is taking far less shots this season so far but his accuracy is way up with a shot percentage of an unsustainable 17.65%. While he figures this will start to drop soon he's also hoping to start shooting more as he has in the past.

Should be a good season for him!

nerji got a reaction from Spartan in Hello Europe - Jeff Lewis
In the world of VHL hockey, the transition from the minor leagues to the VHLE league is a huge step up for any player. Such is the case for Jeff Lewis, a talented forward whose hard work and dedication have earned him a well-deserved graduation to the VHLE. Lewis, a rising star in the sport, was recently drafted by the Cologne Express, a prestigious team known for their rich history and passionate fan base. Drafted in the 3rd round and 23rd overall was a bit of a shock for Lewis as he expected he'd go higher after being drafted 6th overall in the VHLM and 10th overall in the VHL. This was definitely a wake up call for him letting him know that he needs to continue to work hard on his skills every day.

Lewis began his hockey journey in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where he honed his skills on the local rinks. From a young age, it was clear that he possessed exceptional talent and a natural feel for the game. His love for hockey propelled him to pursue his dreams, and he eventually found himself playing in the VHLM.

The past year, Lewis was a force to be reckoned with in the VHLM, consistently standing out as a top scorer and threat when he had the puck. His strong speed, agility, and accurate shooting ability have caught the attention of talent scouts, who recognized his potential to make a significant impact in higher-level competition.

The VHLE, renowned for its high level of competition and top-tier talent, has long been Lewis's aspiration. With his hard work and dedication paying off, the talented forward was finally granted the opportunity to showcase his skills at the VHLE level. The Cologne Express were surprised at his availability so far down in the draft, recognized Lewis's potential and wasted no time in securing his services.

The transition to the VHLE will undoubtedly be a challenge for Lewis, as he faces tougher opponents and an increased level of competition. However, his experience in the VHLM has prepared him well for this next chapter in his hockey career. Lewis's relentless work ethic, combined with his natural talent, will undoubtedly propel him forward as he strives to make a lasting impact in the VHLE.

As Lewis steps onto the ice wearing the Cologne Express jersey, the opportunity to learn from experienced veterans and compete alongside some of the best players in the world will undoubtedly contribute to his development as a professional athlete.

With his skill set and determination, Jeff Lewis has the potential to become a key player for the Cologne Express, making significant contributions to the team's success. Fans eagerly anticipate witnessing his explosive shot and ability to find the back of the net in the VHLE arena.

In conclusion, Jeff Lewis's graduation to the VHLE's Cologne Express marks an important milestone in his hockey career.

nerji got a reaction from Spartan in Jeff Lewis Scouting Report
Jeff Lewis, a talented scorer, began his promising minor league career with the Mississauga Hounds (playing in a city where he spent some of his formative years) showcasing his raw skills and potential. Moving from a small town in Nova Scotia, Lewis quickly gained attention with his remarkable scoring touch and ability to get pucks on net.

    S88 Stat Line:
    Games Played - 72
Goals - 44 (second in the league)
    Assists - 40
    Points - 84
Shots - 417 (first in the league)
    Hits - 139

His minor league career began when he was drafted in the first round, sixth overall by the Mississauga Hounds in the S88 VHLM Dispersal Draft. He made an immediate impact, displaying his natural talent and work ethic. During his first year in the minors, his offensive prowess shone through. He consistently displayed excellent puck control and a fantastic shot.

The Hounds had a pretty strong season finishing tied for first overall and narrowly missing the finals after falling to the Philadelphia Reapers. The Hounds had a pretty loaded team with players such as Reginald the Dodo and Mclean Hoover II and Lewis finished tied for fourth in team scoring with Austin Goulet. Lewis also plays a very disciplined game and only had 36 penalty minutes in that season. It was unfortunate the Hounds couldn't make it to the finals as this would be the only season Lewis would play in the VHLM and it would have been a great way to advance after winning a championship. However, it was a fantastic learning experience as he worked on finding his way around the VHL.

Jeffs strengths include his shot which he isn't afraid to make use of as witnessed by his league leading 417 shots on goal and his ability to find his way out of tight puck battles.

He has indicated he will be working on his main weakness which is really his defense as it was quite low and any promotion to the VHLE would require more effort out into this area of his play.

In conclusion, Jeff Lewis had a very short but strong minor league career has been marked by impressive achievements and consistent growth. His remarkable offensive skills and work ethic have set him apart as a top prospect. With each passing week, Lewis has solidified his status as a future star in the VHL, leaving fans and scouts alike eagerly anticipating his arrival in the major leagues.

nerji reacted to Spartan in S89 Moscow Menace Captains Announcement
Well hello, it's me again. Usually I'd scale down the giant grumpy Menace man but I'm doing this on my phone so you get the giant face today. It's always a thrill to announce our leadership group, especially after a season when some of our team leaders stepped up their game to a new level and won multiple VHL awards. @BOOM snapped out of his award drought and collected the top Offensive and Overall defenseman awards. Team AGM @Brandon secured the Goal Leader and Most Improved awards. And our captain @Arce locked down the Points Leader and Most Outstanding Player award. We're extremely proud of our leaders, and look forward to seeing what this next season's leaders can accomplish on the ice.

    First Alternate - Hammar Voss - @BOOM

Three seasons with the "A" was all Voss needed to secure his recognition, so he's certainly earned his fourth consecutive season. The votes in S87 were close, and Voss fell just short of some covered hardware. In S88, the superstar eliminated any doubt that he is the best defenseman in the VHL. His constant desire to exceed and be a fantastic LR member makes our team a better place for competition and good times. We're very excited to have Voss finish out his career here in Moscow and hope to make this season the best one yet.

    Second Alternate - Tomas Sogaard - @Brandon

Typically I decline to name the team's AGM as a formal member of leadership group, but after a tremendous individual season and a lot of roster turnover this offseason, it's simply a no-brainer to have the currently longest tenured Moscow player be named as an alternate captain. Since he was drafted in S83, Sogaard has been a flexible player who complements anyone on the team. His leadership and experience is extremely appreciated.

    Captain - Ronan Lavelle - @Arce

I truly wonder how many players have been named as captain on different VHL teams. A former captain for D.C.'s cup run a few seasons ago, Lavelle is simply the best choice to be our captain this season. His energy is infectious and he's one of the most vocal leaders on the team. After a massive MOP and Points Leader season in S88, Arce still only talks about getting Moscow that elusive Continental Cup. We're very fortunate to have him on our team, and I'm looking forward to the season ahead!

Congrats to all named to the leadership team!

Entering the draft for both the VHL and VHLE was a bit of a stressful time for Jeff Lewis. Not hearing from many teams had him wondering if perhaps his decline in training really hurt him. Fortunately for him one of the teams that actually did reach out (expressing they didn't think he'd fall that far to them) was able to select him 10th! Being selected 10th overall in the VHL draft by the Moscow Menace was a very happy moment. Speaking with the Menace before the draft about themselves and the league was one of the rare times he got to talk to someone and in return he was very glad to have been drafted there! While he is a season or two away from playing for Moscow he at least knows where his home is and that feels good and gives him something to continue working towards.

Before he lands in Moscow he will spend some time in the VHLE, but the question before the draft was where? Nobody from the VHLE had reached out to him prior to the draft. Do they scout for the VHLE he wondered to himself? Does the draft work differently? As someone new to the VHL he had no real idea. Unable to attend the draft live, he was able to check in on the results as they were updated. After two rounds he wondered if maybe he wasn't in this draft? Plenty of people with less than 200 TPE had been drafted (while he was at 268 TPE) but he had not been selected so maybe his slowed down training was really affecting him or perhaps he just wasn't in this draft. He had no idea, he was new to all of this.

Finally, in the third round he was drafted 23rd overall by the Cologne Express. Glad to be drafted, his mind wandered to why he had fallen so far. That didn't last long as a couple of Express reached out to him, one taking a particular interest in helping with his build which made him feel welcome right off the bat. Going to spend a couple years in Cologne, it felt good to be welcomed and speak to some of those there already that were interested in helping him train to be the best he could become.

The only sad thing is leaving his VHLM team, Mississauga Hounds, behind. They were the first team to draft him, welcome him, and help him with advice. The team had an active locker room and was pretty lively. The product on the ice was pretty solid as well doing extremely well in the regular season and falling just short of the finals.

Regardless of how the drafts played out, he is extremely happy to be playing in the VHL no matter what level and is having a great time doing so and looks forward to a very long career and hopefully many goals scored! bring on the VHLE season! He thanks all those involved in the leagues who make things happen!

I just figured scouting was a semi rare thing in the VHL. I heard from two VHL teams prior to the VHL draft and exactly zero from the VHLE teams and I fell to the third round in that draft. Regardless, happy to have some teams set now but going to miss Mississauga

Being my first season in the VHL I was really unsure of what to expect, I still feel I know very little about how everything works. My first season was with the Mississauga Hounds and it was a pretty good season overall!

The Hounds finished season 88 tied for first overall with the Mexico City Kings with 101 points. Ultimately we would fail to reach the finals after losing to the Philadelphia Reapers who finished 12 points back of us in the regular season but had a fantastic run themselves.

For my personal stats, it was a pretty fun season to watch. I finished with 44 goals, 40 assists, for 84 points. The 44 goals were second in the league for goal total and I led the league on shots with 417 shots. The playoffs were also a good showing for myself as I added 5 goals, 9 assists for 14 points in 11 games.

I look forward to my first season in the VHLE with Cologne Express and hope I can continue to do well for the teams I play for!
