The season for all leagues is well under way. THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD has been hard at work in Oslo trying to get them into a position to push for a playoff spot! In the evening after a practice one night, THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD had received a text from an unknown number. "Congratulations on getting drafted to Helsinki! I can't wait to get some pucks past you!", the message read. "Who is this? I will smite you with Divine powers beyond your comprehension" THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD replied. "It's Maxim Anisimov! It's been a while since we've talked!". THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD took a moment to recall, that he had, in fact, met this man before. When heading to Norway from New Zealand for a draft interview, THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD had experienced a two day layover in Ukraine. Instead of sitting and waiting for the departure, THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD took it upon himself to use this time to get a little bit of practice in before heading to Oslo. It was late one evening and THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD found himself alone in the local Ice Hockey practice facility, working on his movement in the crease. He was so locked into his drills that he didn't even notice another person step onto the ice until a puck was drilled past him, bar down! He looked up to see a man in casual clothing (apart from the gloves, skates and helmet) who was standing in front of him, grinning. THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD stood confused for a moment, then smiled back and nodded; assuming his goalie-ready position. They spent the next four hours doing mock shootouts, shooting drills, and just messing around! By the time they were done, they both laid back first on the ice exhausted from all the hockey that was just played. After a few moments of resting, Maxim shot up and said "You know, for a rookie you are pretty solid between the pipes. When you make it to the VHL one day, let me know and we can practice together again!". THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD offered the man his number to stay in contact, and he obliged. THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD stood in his kitchenette with his phone in his hand, looking at the message. He replied back to Maxim, "My skills have doubled since the last time we'd met, Maxim." Only a single sentence was received back. "Good. Twice the pride, double the fall". @McLovin

THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD Returns to his Hometown! After a long time abroad, THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD finally returned to his home nation for the first time in his hockey career to meet his new team and staff in the Helsinki Titans; the official VHL team of his home city. But this isn't about Helsinki. THIS IS ABOUT OSLO BABY! THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD had unexpectedly decided to play in the VHLE after going 18th Overall in the E draft, vowing to help the Oslo Storm defend their title as cup champion. So far, THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD has played 5 games this season; seeming a bit out of his depth while ending his first week with a record of 1 - 4. This is expected of the young goaltender as his original desire to remain in the M for an additional season was to prevent an underwhelming season, and looks to be one of the weakest goalies when compared to his peers. However, THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD seems more determined than ever to live up to expectations, and has been seen arriving to the Storm training facility incredibly early, and only leaving once the sun sets. This comes after being named an Assistant Captain of the team, and despite the rocky start; THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD's teammates seem to have complete confidence in the young spellcaster. Despite the 1 - 4 win loss record, the Ice Wizard has faced an average of 44.3 shots a game while holding a solid 0.915 SV%. During his most recent loss, THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD said in a post-game interview: "I feel completely in my element and I don't think I've ever played better than I am playing now. Is there room for improvement? Absolutely. But is that not the case for everyone?". Unfortunately, the interview was cut short after THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD was ambushed by teammates with nerf guns and was forced to retreat out of the dressing room. So what does this recent performance mean for THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD? Well, despite his statistics not being bad given his skill and experience; it still leaves an incredible amount left to be desired when it comes to the playoff picture. A lot rides on THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD's back when it comes to the Oslo Storm and their playoff hopes, and with about 18 weeks of hockey to go; that will be just 18 weeks to get himself up to snuff in order to go toe to toe with his goaltending peers. OSLO STORM PRESS CONFERENCE (For the week Ending June 2nd, 2024) 1. Our roster is assembled, and the season begins this week. If you had to predict our team's MVP at season's end, who would it be? During my few practices so far with the team, I'd probably have to put my money on Chrispy R @Crstats23. His shots really hurt. Like a lot. I've got a few bruises already so I feel bad for the opposing goalies when he's really trying to wire one in. 2. The VHL is entering it's 94th season, approaching it's 17th real-life birthday. What were you up to 17 years ago? Pondering on my magic orb, as I usually do as a time waster. Thoughts ain't what they used to be back then let me tell ya. 3. Which team do you think will be our VHLE rivals this season? Do you hate any other team already for any particular reason? Probably whichever team we beat in the cup finals. Hate is a strong word; but I get paid very handsomely to strongly dislike other teams. Also thank you other teams for not drafting me. But I also hate you for not drafting me. Not because you didn't draft me but because I'm on a different team that is not a team that didn't draft me. So it's not personal (it definitely is) when I say that I don't like you for not drafting me because I wanted to go to Oslo. I love it here! 4. Have you been to the movie theatre recently? What did you see/want to see? I haven't left the arena in 3 days. I don't even remember the last movie I watched 5. The Arizona Coyotes have moved to Utah, and they are yet to announce a name or logo. What name would you give them? My two favourite ideas are the Utah Blizzard or the Utah Outlaws. They just sound badass. I just hope their logo doesn't look like a bantom team 6. What NHL player would be the best comparison to your VHL player? Probably Linus Ullmark. Not just because of their similar playstyles, but also because he tries to hug every one of his teammates after each game. can't claim this for TPE I just love answering pressers. THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD SCOUTING REPORT: THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD is starting to become a force to be reckoned with. After going 7th overall in the VHL draft, he was selected 18th overall in the VHLE draft by reigning champions of the E, the Oslo Storm. THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD was also slotted to be an almost unanimous 1st overall pick in the upcoming VHLM Dispersal Draft, as THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD had reportedly stated that he was planning on playing an additional season in the VHLM to hone his skills before being called up to the E. However, after a long phone call with the GM of the Oslo Storm just a day before the VHLM draft, THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD surprisingly made the announcement that he had decided that he was going to be playing in Europe for season 94. Nobody knew what was said in the exchange between the two, but one thing was for sure; THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD left that conference room with a fire in his eyes. THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD has only 13 VHLM games under his belt. Here are the stats: THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD was picked up as a waiver signing for the Las Vegas Aces about halfway through S93 and placed in the backup role for the remainder of the season. In the handful of games that THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD had started between the pipes, things were not looking good for the "All Powerful" netminder; sporting an atrocious 4.10 GAA and 0.844 SV%. How would numbers like this get a goalie taken 1st round in the VHL draft? Well, after a tough Game 1 loss for the Aces when the VHLM playoffs began, they turned to THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD for help; starting him for the next 3 Playoff games in a row. THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD and his Aces ended up getting bumped in Game 5, ending the cup run very prematurely, but not all was glum in the world of the Ice Wizard. In those 3 games, he put up some astonishing numbers; especially considering his regular season performance. Despite 2 losses in 3 games, THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD had brandished a 0.940 SV% and a 1.67 GAA. Here are my Pro's and Con's of THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD's game: Pros: Has excellent puck tracking, Good size, standing at 6'3 Very strong glove hand Above average pad control Cons: Weak positioning Does not utilize stick very often Seen making small snowmen while puck is in opponent's zone (Note: One time occurrence) After his season concluded, THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD seems to have almost completely changed his game up. In a recent interview when asked about the changes, the Ice Wizard had mentioned "...mastering the basics of (his) craft" and "wanting to be more consistently solid in net". "I want to make sure that I am everything that my new organization needs" he continued, "My game last season wasn't good enough, so I will make sure it is this next season". The organization of Helsinki and Oslo seem to have enough confidence in this player to each use their highest draft pick to take him, but the question will remain; Will THE MIGHTY ICE WIZARD live up to expectations?
