Time to rank the VHLM logos

Edit: Okay so it has been pointed out to me by Eno that Mexico City does have an updated logo, I was not aware of this and was using the page on the portal of the team list which for some reason futures the old logo, not the new one, sorry about that.

 

Same idea as before, I'm gonna give my opinion of the M logos, I do have to say I don't feel like this team logos are as good in general compared to the big lead logos, it was a little more difficult to rank them. There's also the fact that there's only 12 teams instead of 16 so this one will be shorter. Remember this is about my own taste and not an objective look at them or if they have some deeper meaning to the city or something. Without further delay, here we go.

 

 

12th

I have to say this one was tough, the second team I ever played for and won a cup with, the best GM and AGM ever were with this team for a long time yet..... I just couldn't bring myself to move this up even one spot. It's just..... not inspiring or exciting. On top of being a human face, something I've said I'm not very fond of for team logos, it's just tan and red, if it means anything I do think it's better than the Titans logo but I don't feel like that's saying much. Having seen the updated logo that was never approved, I'd say that one could be as high as sixth.

 

11th

So this may seem weird considering that the Kings logo is still up on the board but this logo is just..... derpy? over the top? silly? I don't know but ever since joining the league I've never been sure of what to make of this logo, it's trying to be intimidating, trying to be serious, trying to be cool but some how it ends up as none of those for me? The white lightening from the eyes, the different color of the nose and mouth, the gray beard, is it an old bull? I don't mean to sound like I'm making fun of the logo, I'm just miffed on this one.

 

10th

Again here we go with the human design, the colors here and the choice to have a brighter side and darker side make it pretty cool and the red eye is nice but I can't go any further than that. Humans for team logos just don't work for me, I'm sure the human has a deeper meaning here but again I'm looking at it at face value. I do like how the M and Y stretch down and curve but that's all I can say, let's move on.

 

 

9th

The Marlins, I guess the logo is interesting, the choice of the fish and and colors for a team, it's neat. A Marlin isn't exactly intimidating and if anything the expression here is the opposite of serious, granted I imagine doing the expression of fish is hard.The overall look of the whole logo is fine, it doesn't leave me confused or mixed on what it's trying to achieve. It's passable.

 

8th

Okay look I know it's just a boat in a life preserver, it's very basic with a lot of white space, but it was the very first team I ever played for and it always be special to me for that reason. Maybe 8th seems high but remember there are only 12 teams instead of 16. I don't feel like there's much I can say here cause it's a boat sailing in water, maybe it was a side shot of a boat sailing through rough waters, in a way saying this team will face whatever storm come it's way, they'll win, but atlas it isn't.

 

7th

I've been here long enough to remember the logo before this one, I do think this one is better but not a whole lot better. Same colors but lost the name on the logo which is fine, doesn't bug me. What your left with is this and I suppose it's slight above decent. It's cool and the green, white and black is a nice mix. You got a poker chip with a diamond over it and spade within that, it's got some depth in it. I wouldn't mind if they held onto this one. For the record can't say the old logo would be any higher or lower, they're both very equal to me.

 

6th

Yukon Rush, I feel like this logo is kind of the opposite of the Aces in that it's more simple and not as deep, but sometimes simplicity is king. A big part of these pieces for me is having good colors that look good together, and knowing exactly where to add some colors or hold back on it. The logo itself is just and R in a circle with what I think is wings or hair? maybe ears? either way to me that's representing the "rush" in the name. Good logo.

 

5th

The Hounds logo I would say is in the same tier as the previous two, good but not great, to be honest I was thinking of putting this one under the previous two but after a closer  look I think it's a bit better, the previous two, maybe even the previous three are what I call emblem logos (I say maybe because Halifax has a boat, so I think I can still thow it in with the emblem logos) and in general I like when it has an animal tied to it. The dog here is..... okay, he (or she but I'll stick with he) doesn't look board or motionless which is good but he isn't totally looking like he's about to kill ya. Just looks a little grumpy. I do love the choice in the shade of blue though I question if the blue underline of "Hounds" is necessary. I think you could go without.

 

4th

Honestly I thought I'd place this one higher up, but after looking closer at this one and the other remaining three this one just falls behind a little. The main thing I can say is that it feels like it hasn't aged as well compared to some other long time logos. I think the colors are culprit, they feel washed out and need a fresh coat of paint. You could keep the same build and everything, just change the colors to more greys and blacks, instead of the yellow add purple, brighten up the red just a tad, and spell Reapers in blood red. I think it'd look amazing.

3rd

Miami!! I believe the newest VHLM team right? If I remember correctly at least. I gotta say when I saw it the first time I wasn't to impressed but now that I've taken a closer look I really like it. It's really jagged and sharp, it looks rough in a good way. The pirate theme is great and I love the hat and eye patch. The shading is great and I love the red (or pink) eye and on the patch as well as along the hat. Not much else to say, you got a keeper here.

 

2nd

Another logo that has gotten a redesign during my time here, the old logo was much more simple and I remember it kinda being boring. I was greatly impressed by this redesign, taking a closer look I think there are a few aspects of that are a bit odd, I would say from the angle chosen. Regardless I think it's still wonderful and is miles better than the previous logo. I love all the black patches mixed in with the rest of the fur, it keep it more interesting than mostly just one color, the white eyes are almost scary in a way. I'd say what this logo lacks and holds it back from number one is just a lack of intimidation, your not gonna be in fear of them when they hit the ice, that's for sure. It's tough looking for sure just lacks that bite. I'd say the old logo would sit somewhere between 8th to 5th.

Saskatoon takes number one, I wasn't expecting this but after looking closer at all the emblems I realize just how much I like this logo. The blue outline is much different from the standard white or black, on top of that I like the shade of blue and blue tongue. Great intimidation factor, awesome eyes and eye brows (I know, it sounds funny to say) and the black streaks which I presume are whiskers? What is a wild right? I'll tell you what this logo is wild and takes number one for me in the M logos!

 

So now that I've done all the logos, should I do one big grand list? Like where I combine the two of them? I think it'd just be an article because I'm not gonna rewrite my feelings towards each logo although there's be some filler to meet the word limit so I can still claim for it. Maybe I could dig into extinct logos and rank those? regardless of VHL or VHLM I could rank them together. Until next time, ciao for now.....

If it helps understanding it, the Storm were originally in Oslo, so the logo represented like a Viking/Norse God or something like that. The  connection is kind of lost now the team isn't in Scandinavia anymore.

Well now I feel dumb, I did notice the plane but thought that it probably wasn't that deep? that it was chosen because it just looked cool? I feel like an idiot but thank you for confirming it for me XD
