Announcing the Prague Phantoms’ S79 Team Awards as voted by the players and management.

Best Defenseman

Battre Sandstrom @Acydburn

Sandstrom had another strong season, leading the Phantoms in assists (62, a career-high) and Prague blueliners in goals (17), points (79, also a career-high), and shots (250). This is his second consecutive award.

Rookie of the Year

Nicholas Mariani @Mistxh J

After being drafted 43rd overall in the S77 Draft, the Canadian winger finally clinched a spot in the VHL and didn’t look out of place scoring 17 times and putting up 33 points. Although his defense needs some work, he showed flashes of brilliance and clutch scoring tying for the team lead with 6 game-winning goals.

Unsung Hero

John LeClair II @Fire Vigneault

LeClair II has been a model of consistency during his career and continued his hard-working play with his second 30-goal season and was the Phantoms leader in hits (215) and plus/minus (+29).

Most Energetic

Dominic Gobeil @Domg5, Nicholas Mariani @Mistxh J

Gobeil continues to be a leader on and off the ice. His non-stop motor propelled him to score a career-high 39 goals, good for second on the team. Cut in a similar mold as Gobeil, Mariani’s speed and skill lead to numerous scoring chances.

Most Gentlemanly

Nicholas Mariani @Mistxh J

Known purely as a skill player, the rookie only had 6 penalty minutes, the fewest on the Phantoms.

Thomas Landry II Award (Most Valuable Player)

Robert Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito

Prague needed an offensive catalyst after Landry II’s retirement and Bouchard stepped up to the plate. He has career-highs in most categories and led the team in goals (43), points (97), shots (424), and power-play points (29) while also being a key member of the penalty-kill.

Phantom of the Year

Dominic Gobeil @Domg5

Gobeil has been a positive voice and respected leader ever since he joined the Phantoms. When he talks, the team and coaches listen and he’s always there when needed.

3-Stars Award

Robert Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito

After his career year, Bouchard led the Phantoms with 10 1st-Star selections and 23 total Stars.
