And we are back to our native VHL-exports. The Wranglers played two matches since we last reported from the Jansers. Here are the summaries of said encounters.

3-4 (SO)

This must be some kind of new record as in their fifth game, the Wranglers had to undergo shootout for the third time to find a winner. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the Legion who snatched the victory in a 4-3 match. In the middle of the first period, Janser scored twice within a minute, the first being a powerplay goal and the second an even strength marker. During the man advantage, Janser rushes along the boards, carrying the puck in Toronto's end. A quick pass to Wolanin, who immediately relays the disc to Strasmore. The Liverpool native lays the puck up for blueliner GoodBrandSun. The veteran back, winds up for a slapper, but the shot goes wide. However, the biscuit has enough momentum to come back into the slot, where Dan was already exchanging niceties with the Legion's defenders. He was the quickest to react on the returning puck and beat Lindbergh on the far post at point blank range. His second of the night was of a similar cut. A 'kick-and-rush' play by the Captain. Toronto back Hagel is first on the puck, but gets the nerves when he sees 215 pounds of fresh Strasmore skating towards him. His opening pass ends up at Phil's tape. He gives the pill to Left Wing Wolanin who has caught up on the rush. The Alternate Captain one-times it and misses the net. AirRig picks up the orphaned puck and has a go himself. Dan in his home territory, the opposing team's slot, deflects the rubber mid-air and sends the netminder to the wrong corner. In the second period, Sakamoto cuts the lead in half with their first goal of the season. In the final frame, Justice is served by Janser and Sax scores his first of the current campaign to reinstate the two-goal lead. Alas, Toronto scores two more goals, one of which in power play and ties the game. As the sudden death did not bring a decision, a shootout was necessary where fickle goddess Fortuna was on the Legion's side. Janser (2g/1a), Sakamoto (1g/1a) and Hagel (1g/0a) were named the three stars of the night. Why Daniel and Marcel's former team mate Ixazaluoh with his three helpers was not considered for a distinction is everybody's guess. Pedersen (.880) was slightly improved compared to their first game, but fell short against Lindbergh (.925). Calgary's powerplay (1/4) was decent as was the penalty kill (4/5).

Marcel was noted with 0g, 0a, -1, 2 PIM (Hooking, lead to a goal against), 2 hits and 1sb.

Daniel had 2g, 1a, +1, 2 PIM (Roughing, penalty was killed off), 6 hits, 1sb and 57.14FO%.

3-0

With Dahl celebrating his first shutout in the S86 season, the Wranglers defeat the Wolves 3-0. Despite both teams' best efforts, no goal was scored in the first frame. In the second period the arena became more lively, as Janser opened the score. It was again Strasmore, who intercepted a pass and in a relay via Janser, Wolanin, Janser, GoodBrandSun, Wolanin and finally Janser again, the puck ended up in Vancouver's net by the Captain's high-light reel wrap around marker. Wolanin on even strength and AirRig in power play (his self-proclaimed specialty) put the nails into the coffin. No further goals were scored by either team. The three stars went to Dahl (29 saves), Janser (1g/2a) and GoodBrandSun (1g/2a). Dahl was undisputed champion with his shutout and Fuhr (.903) despite a solid performance was sitting at the hind teat this time. The Wranglers' powerplay was lethal (1/1) and their boxplay obviously immaculate.

Marcel had 0g, 0a, +0, 1 hit and 4sb to his name.

Daniel achieved 1g, 2a, +2, 5 hits and 47.50% win rate at the draw.

Here are the brothers' stats for this season sofar:

Marcel: 6gp, 0g, 2a, 2pts, -2, 4 PIM, 11 hits, 10sb

Daniel: 6gp, 6g, 6a, 12pts, +6, 12 PIM, 29 hits, 8sb, 1gwg, 1ppg, 58.11FO%, 3 First Star nominations
