It was expected that Riga would run away with the European conference in the playoffs, but they weren’t expected to dominate Cologne the way they did in their semi-final series.

In just four games the Reign were able to eliminate the Express and secure their spot in the finals. Through these four games the Reign would outscore their opposition 15-6 and outshot the Express by a number I’m too lazy to add together right now… but it was a lot dammit.

So, for the Power Poll this week we are going to discuss if this was the most dominate performance in a conference final that we have seen? Riga just made Cologne look like a cake walk and essentially guaranteed that no matter who they face (New York) in the finals, they are possibly going to do the same to them (maybe).

Through the history of the league it’s quite possible that Riga’s performance in the semi-final has been topped but it has to be up there for some of the best performances just considering how much Riga shut down the Express’ hope for a run to the finals. Cologne is young though and will have their time in the next few seasons.

So, did Riga dish out the most dominate performance? Y/N. Best comments get into the Mag!

Don't know precise shot totals but Riga had four 40+ games and one over 50. Cologne had just one over 20 shots.

I voted yes because I can not think of an example of something so one-sided between two good teams.

For comparison's sake, the last unexpected sweep between two good teams:

3 OTs! Helsinki had more shots once or twice!

Actually I just realised I erased the S37 final from my memory. In any case, it was basically LeBeau standing on his head. We had 50+ shots in Game 4 ffs.

For everyone's reference

Riga Series Shot Totals: 186

Cologne Series Shot Total: 72

This is the biggest one-way series I can remember in my tenure here. It has also been the most unexpected. We had a losing record against Cologne during the regular season and looked as if we didn't match up well against them. It actually had me feeling bad for Cologne. No one wants to get swept in the playoffs, especially when none of the games are close.
