VHL Awards show thread

I don't understand why the award winners aren't compiled into one single post (like the first comment on the thread, edit the winners there under spoiler tags). It's so dumb, slow and annoying going through the whole ass thread for single award winners, because the thread doesn't have ONLY just the award winner announcements but also all the other random members posting.

 

Can't we just make it easy to read and go through the winners please?

Yeah I think the awards post is meant to be more of a presentation and an event rather than simply telling you the winners.  As Triller mentioned, awards are listed on the portal so just check there if you don’t want to scroll the thread. There would be no point in writing up any of the awards if we just posted them at the top because I’m sure most people would just check the winners and click away.  With the way it’s posted one at a time, it gives a little more focus and highlight to the individual award winners which I think is nice.

sure sure, but the HoF page is award by award, the way Awards Show should list them is all the winners of the season. What I want to see is the winners of the season in a single nice list, to compare for my predictions. I don't know why it's so hard.

Sounds like you just aren't a fan of the pageantry, plus they tell you your hits and misses in the predictions post eventually anyways.

Personally, I like the pageantry. It’s fun and interactive for members of the league. 
 

A suggestion: maybe VSN does a separate post immediately after that has all of the winners posted on it? This way members who don’t care for reading through the pageantry can just quickly look afterwards at who won without filtering through all the messages.

The predictions literally get paid out within a week of the awards and all winners are listed on the predictions post.

To be fair to @Ahma we do have access to an edit button. I don’t necessarily agree that we need a single post list the night of the awards but there’s no reason we couldn’t go in after the prediction post goes up (and the list is generated for us) and edit that list into the OP of the awards.

No new member looking for awards in the future is going to assume they should look at predictions payouts instead of the post literally titled "VHL Awards". It's really not that hard to edit it in after the fact.

What is in the future? For trivia whenever we ask people to find award winners it's always in the portal or forum HOF sections. I've never known anyone to be looking through award presentations unless someone's looking specifically at the voting or nominees, which wouldn't be in a final writeup post anyways.

Yeah I personally don't see much function for this change. Like if the goal is to compare your prediction results, as stated earlier, you'll get those results in less than a week. And that post will give you more information by also showing which predictions you specifically got correct.

And the VHL Awards post does have all of the awards, just not in an entire list. But you still have access to multiple other ways of finding this information.

The Awards show is done as an event on here. It's a hell of a lot more fun and interactive to have it award by award than just posting a list of results. Prediction results get posted and prediction points get allocated automatically, so there's really no reason to complain about how the awards are done in the name of predictions. Scrolling through less than 2 pages of posts to see the results is hardly difficult either.

The easy solution and what I used to do is to go back to the nominee post and just bold the winners. That is also supposed to be done so people have a clear post to claim TPE from.

im not saying to stop doing the show award by award, just make a summary/list of the winners after the show is over

When I presented, I would make a placeholder post which all the winners would then be edited into following the conclusion of the presentation. Or, to avoid spoilers, it could be placed at the end of the presentation as a recap.

Tbh, it's one more thing to remember after the fact and the awards posts are already pretty intensive to put together.  I literally forgot the All-VHL teams while posting and had to add that after the fact, so yeah, it is more work to have to come back again and add stuff. 

In any case, I've added the winners list at the top of the awards thread and will try to do the same in the future, though I'm not going to do it the day of the awards.  It will probably happen after the predictions post is made.  I still think there's value in having people actually scroll through the thread and interact with the awards within a day or two of the presentation rather than simply checking the winners at the top and clicking away.

Yeah this is how it should be done. It’s really not much extra for work.
