The BoG has been discussing the possible addition of awards to the tri-seasonal World Cup. With the help of the World Cup Commissioners, we've come up with 5 awards to be awarded for the first time at the conclusion of the S43 World Cup of Hockey.

Most Valuable Player - Awarded to the player deemed most valuable during the World Cup

Best Forward - Awarded to the forward deemed to have the most individual success in the World Cup

Best Defender - Awarded to the defender deemed to have the most individual success in the World Cup

Best Goalie - Awarded to the goalie deemed to have the most individual success in the World Cup

Breakout Star - Awarded to the player with two seasons or less experience deemed to have the most individual success in the World Cup

The World Cup Commissioners will form a ballot for each award. That ballot will then go to the BoG where the winners will be voted on. We hope the addition of awards makes the World Cup a little more exciting and adds further prestige to it.

Wtf that last award is racist bc some players will never be eligible.

I mean, could argue that two seasons or less means final season of VHLM, rookie VHL, 2nd year VHL, which means everyone hits at least one WC eligibility (even if not selected for the team...)

Yep, I proposed the award and that was the thinking behind it (I'd originally described it as "two seasons or less of VHL playing experience"). When I proposed it, my thought process was that limiting it to rookies and VHLM guys would definitely exclude some people from winning it (an example this year would be Callum Sinclair, a Season 42 player who created at the start of Season 41) or give them extremely little chance (S45 draftees who will earn over 200 TPE prior to draft would have had to have won it this year with very little TPE). Extending that gave guys who spend an extra season in VHLM half their career to get a award meant for prospects, plus players with three years of VHL experience typically have already started to make an impact on the VHL by that point (E.g. Thomassen winning the Szatkowski Award in S41)
