Smarch 3,194
We the North By the way things are shaping up in the Victory Hockey League landscape; it appears as though the North American conference will be the one to watch this season. With all but one of the teams in the conference looking to compete as we enter Season Fifty-Two in the league, we’ll take a closer look at the rosters and try to decide the standings like an idiot at this point Calgary Wranglers (4 Forwards, 3 Defenseman): The team to beat heading into last season had just that happen to them in the Conference Finals against the Toronto Legion. While they won’t bring back the exact same roster as Season Fifty-One, the team will look very similar with Aleski Koponen, Black Velvet, and Tyson Kohler re-signing during this past off-season. While the current roster has a lot of talent without question, one thing that may hurt the club going forward is the lack of depth combined with being tight with the cap ceiling. Going forward it will be interesting to see what the franchise will end up doing to strengthen their playoff run. New York Americans (6 Forwards, 4 Defenseman): The New York Americans as looking to make a huge leap forward this season in making the playoffs after coming off a season where they landed the First Overall pick. The Americans were able to pick up some new bodies through the draft, the trade waiver and some final pieces in free agency. With a core of Diana Maxwell, Essian Ravenwing, and Bobby Digital in place for the Americans, adding complementary pieces like Unassisted and Sir William Covington II might just push this young roster into the playoffs in Season Fifty-Two. Seattle Bears (5 Forwards, 3 Defenseman): Seattle is sure to make the playoffs this season, just as the Bears players and management themselves. The Bears are a very vocal and loyal group, but this season might just be the year they back it up with their play on the ice. A fringe team just coming out of rebuilding the last few seasons, the Bears haven’t been able to make much noise coming VHL playoff time. With a roster mostly built around season forty-seven, forty-eight, and forty-nine draftees the time is coming for the Bears to make an impact in the VHL landscape. The Bears will enter Season Fifty-Two looking slightly different than last season as they managed to pick up Biggu Kyanon, Joel Järvi, and Thor Odinsson up during the off-season, which should help them in a four team playoff race. Toronto Legion (3 Forwards, 3 Defenseman): The last club on our list, the Toronto Legion always seem to find their way into the playoffs and the Continental Cup finals during the last few seasons. With a roster full of seventh or eighth year players the Legion are definitely hanging on by a thread, but as shown last season, a veteran roster is capable of amazing things in do or die situations. With only two members of the roster signed and able to play beyond this season, the Legion will be looking to get back on top of the VHL here in Season Fifty-Two. *For Weinstein* Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/35674-claimedwe-the-north/ Share on other sites

Kinda hard for the conference to do anything when everyone packs up and piles onto one team. Again going back to no parity in the league. gregreg 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/35674-claimedwe-the-north/#findComment-392020 Share on other sites
Guest
Intentionally left Quebec City off the list? Harsh The Americans have started off strong, surprising the league, so maybe it is the depth-lacking Legion that get booted? Might just be me, but centered body text looks off. Send it to the left for body, center for headings, and you have a neat article!
