Admittedly it's somewhat of a loophole, but I believe that only applies to direct trade-backs. The rule was made to prevent two teams from colluding and trading championship teams back and forth/temporarily borrowing each other's players. If someone were to try to circumvent the rules in a fashion similar to this, it would probably be at the Commissioners discretion whether to allow it or not. In this particular instance, I personally don't really see anything wrong with the trades. I'm not intimately familiar with the older deals or anything, but Seattle got Jarvi from Cologne, probably as the main piece. Now Seattle got Maximoff from Riga as the main piece, and Jarvi may have just been a cap casualty or a LR cancer or something. And Riga is shit and doesn't really need Jarvi, so they traded him to Cologne for Dadonov in a more or less straight across deal (not that they really need Dadonov either, but neither does Cologne now that they have Toast, and that's probably where the 2nd rounder comes in, so why not). If Maximoff was originally on Cologne, I'd maybe think this is fishy. But he wasn't so meh. gregreg 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/37255-rigcol-s52-off-season/#findComment-409217 Share on other sites
