As you can see here, Higgins made a topic to ask the sim league community if media spots needed a revamp for them to garner more interest. With the voter’s names being made public, you can see that both Higgins and Draper believe that there needs to be some sort of change to the current system, but instead of doing that, why not instead introduce a completely different PT to get some fresh, unique enthusiasm into the league? Here’s our favourite ideas that the league should look to induct into the main VHL system in the very near future:

 

1 – Real Life PT’s

 

This is an idea I remember was actually brought up by a member called businessballer in a football sim league called the Madden Football Association that was ran by current Stockholm Vikings GM Chris Miller. Basically, real life is awesome. I can go to a store, I can use currency to buy a sandwich and then I can go eat said sandwich to satisfy my hunger, isn’t that awesome? No matter how many point tasks I submit or how many purchases I make in the player store, they will not make me less hungry, so we should look to combine the real-life joys of eating a sandwich with the sim-league joys of seeing virtual you or a character you created put up less than a point per game while someone who hasn’t been on the site in months is leading the league.

 

That’s where Real-Life PT’s come into play, let’s do stuff in the real-world and bring it into the VHL. Let’s use our previous example as the first Real-Life PT, challenge members to make a VHL-style sandwich! Let’s reward people for going out onto the streets and posing as market stall owners selling bottles of Gatorade as the newest energy sensation “TPE”! Let’s reward people for shouting “VHL!” as loud as possible on public transport! Let’s have fun and let’s earn TPE in the process!

 

2 – Number Game

 

Everyone loves numbers right? Without numbers, we wouldn’t have a sim-league! Imagine having a sim-engine which ran on vague approximations on how good a player is who has “alright” skating and “pretty mediocre” shooting. Chaos! So let’s fuck words right off and make a number based PT! So here’s my idea:

• -          Each week, a new topic is started by the guy in charge of the Point Task

• -          In his first post, he’ll post a number between 1 and 720.

• -          Then members try to post in response as close as possible to that number of minutes after the post. The winner gets a Free Week for the week of the victory.

• -          This is repeated 14 times over the week

Review:

Sometimes it's hard to come up with things to write about, and I'm not really opposed to the real life thing. I think more people would read them too if people talked about exciting things in their own lives, or some random stupid night out. But who knows?

The SHL has it somewhat "easier" where they pick a topic and everybody just writes about that. It works.

I mean, I suppose maybe we can supply topics, but not make it mandatory to use them.
