Claimed: Does Verner Reinholdt Really Trust The Process? [1/2]

Recommended Posts

Trust the process. Haven't you heard? That is all that can be heard out of the mouth of Calgary General Manager @eaglesfan036 who won't stop saying. It's basically to the point where he is just an action figure and you pull the string, and he either says Trust the Process, or Trust the Process Travis. While some might see Calgary as a team of the future, much has been made of Verner Reinholdts distaste for the Wranglers, especially of late. After vocally being disappointed by being drafted to the club, things seemed to simmer down around the "old timer" as he was set to stay in the VHLM this season anyways. But Reinholdt was incredibly quiet with the Oslo Storm. While he certainly had a strong season, finishing 8th in the entire VHLM in points. Verner was still very quiet, and not very pleased with how things went with his VHLM season.

Now heading into the off-season and gearing up for another year of training camp with the Calgary Wranglers, and the reality that he will be in the VHL this season has seemed to cause a stir out of the older newcomer. We tried to get word from teammates in the locker room, but when we went into the locker room on an off-day the only person there was Jacob. Who was busy rewatching the Helsinki Titans recent Continental Cup win on loop repeatedly and wouldn't even consider answering any of our questions. When we went to the GM's office, we found a cardboard cutout of Austin Gow sitting in his chair, with the slogan "Trust the Process" in a little speech bubble beside his face. As we waited for Verner Reinhold to come off the ice sheet, the only member of the roster actively training and he was doing so with private coaches. Suddenly we began to see some odd connections that many indicate that Reinholdt doesn't really trust the process. Of note, Verner was on the ice training with Wesley Kellinger and Ryan Sullivan. Those two coaches work development for the Stockholm Vikings. Verner was even wearing a Stockholm Vikings hat coming off the ice, as if to indicate he may be headed to Stockholm. But not to throw suspicion to just one team, Verner was also wearing a Davos Dynamo shirt, and had a Toronto Legion towel draped over his shoulder. When we pressed him for comment in general, here is what the aged forward had to say.

Haven't you heard? Trust the process. Sadly I can't leave it at that. But let's just say I'm not a happy player right now. I feel like I have gotten zero respect in this organization, zero respect even when I was drafted about my desires and where I want to go. I don't want to point names because it really isn't just one individual or one GM, but it really feels like because I come from an agency that has a history of making players who don't always achieve personal greatness. Well it just kind of sucks honestly. I was open about what I wanted out of this return to hockey for me, and nobody cared. Nobody paid attention. Well then perhaps nobody will care if I just up and say fuck this process and leave this team right? I mean is there anyone here, in this locker room? Hell even in the office. Nobody even notices that I've got other teams training out there helping me because we actually have to improve our game to be better. But I said this before I was drafted. I really wanted the opportunity to show my skillset with a group of talented players. I'm the great finishing piece to a team, especially now as I get my game going and teams are looking for depth. But instead I'm supposed to just carry this Calgary Wranglers offense much like Oslo asked me to do. Sure, I scored the most points and goals on my team. I had a pretty big VHLM season, and things individually are looking up for me. But I want more than that. The fans deserve more too, because this is just going to create a situation where the fans here in Calgary are going to hate me. But to those fans, perhaps you can stomach this answer better than I can....trust the fucking process. I can tell you right now with zero doubt in my mind I am earnestly not going to be a Calgary Wrangler for any second longer than I have to be. That is all I'll say on my future for that comment. Until that day comes, I'll bring the best I can for this organization, but I mean you can look around. Jacob is somewhere, I think. That is it. It's just us. I think actually I did see Volkov once at a team meeting, but he's still in the VHLM last I heard for seasons yet. And one day maybe once he's done that Journey Man is supposed to be here. But it's pretty sparse honestly. Jacob and I are the only ones here that have a lot to bring, and we all know that won't be enough to make us a playoff threat this or even the next several seasons. So while I'm here it's obviously a long ride. But I know the drill. I'll shut up, I'll prove myself to this league and then when I actually get an opportunity with a real team that is about more than a process I'll look forward to it. Until then I'll just bite my mouthpiece and play hockey. Trust that.

It's gonna be funny when I draft @Advantage's player too, then I will have 2/3 of the trio

and then it'll be even more fun when they both dip to go to NY and Stockholm after their ELCs are over

NY? Verner Reinholdt will play zero games for that franchise.

Screw the trio. At that point your at what half the GM's in the leagues second players, you, Higgs, ADV, me. Round up the rest and then we can all leave you in FA in the same season.

are we supposed to think he won't be in Stockholm eventually?

I can't confirm or deny that, since he's willing to play in Stockholm. He's also willing to play a lot of other places. I was adamant about this before draft and that will continue to be the narrative. Reinholdt only wants to play for teams that Devise agency hasn't played for, but will gladly sign a career extension to a team that fits those needs. The top franchise destinations in no particular order have always been Toronto, Davos, Helsinki and Stockholm.

Trying to study from the god Astrid Moon @The Trollfecta

Review:

So, Calgary wants @Advantage in the draft? I might have to see about that.

Solid write-up though. This Trust The Process meme is too much.
