Gooningitup 1,290
9Ive had the pleasure of grooming many great members in my time as GM of the VHLM. Guys whove gone on to commish/GM like @Beaviss @Spade18. Some hard workers like @SlapshotDragon @pennypenny @Lefty. I have yet to really meet another player with the confidence @Dtayl showed his first season he approached me asking what it takes to become a GM. I was suprised, most young bloods are too overwhelmed early on to be worrying about things like that. I offered him a grooming role, as he will take over next season as head GM of the Saskatoon Wild. I will stay on as advisor but my role will just he to aid rather than run things. He is building himself a solid player and is a very hard worker. Well he struggled his first offical draft with missing on some bigger names late in the draft, its all part of learning and every GM has some bad luck every now and then. I am excited to see where he takes the Wild over the next few seasons, and what path him and his player take. If he graduates to be a VHL GM or even a commish one day. Hes got a solid head on his shoulders it seems and he is very eager to learn. Only time will tell what he decides to do but i will most certianly follow his journey aslong as i am a member here. In terms of his player Dylan Nygunn is one of 5 players on defense over a PPG. He played awhille for the Wild after being selected in the 4th round, before being traded to the 21st due to the roster struggling to gel. The Wild decided it was best to sell their assets in hopes they can be competative next season. This helped Nygunn experience winning for the first time as a regular thing rather than struggle giving the young player a confidence boost he needs to keep playing and graduate to the VHL next season. Nygunn will join a Reign team next year that is currently in year 1 of its offical rebuild, with a GM who knows what he is doing they should be competative within the next 2-3 seasons. Nygunn figures to be a big piece of that teams defense going forward and i think could potentially win an award or 2 on defense if he is showing anything right now in juniors its that he is a very capable offensive defensemen. His over 100 hits, 70 blocked shots, and a +27 show he can play both ends of the ice effectively though its clear his best asset will be his ability to get the puck up to his forwards effectively. Hopefully he and Crimson can capture a cup, together on the 21st this season, as they are both solid members. Halifax has a very good shot after taking the league title this year, despite what critics of the league are calling a fix after they basically were awarded an all star team getting to take top pieces from every team.
