Scott Greene of the Seattle Bears recently fell into a bit of hot water. The Continental Cup Champion took some flak for some statements he made in passing to one of his teammates, Joel Ylonnen. He was overheard referring to something Joel did as “totally baguette.” Many were angry, as they felt the term “baguette” carries a negative meaning. When reached for comment, Greene had this to say.

“I wanted to say I’m sorry. I come from a region and an age group where everyone would say ‘baguette.’ Like, ‘oh, this is baguette,’ or ‘that’s really baguette of you.’ Saying something is ‘the big baguette’ was pretty common. I didn’t think it had any kind of negative meaning, but if I offended anyone, I’m really sorry. I’ve apologized to Joel and we’re all good. I’m definitely going to try to watch my language in the future.”

We will keep you posted as this story develops.
