Notice how Chelsea was the last EPL team to win the Champions League. Defense wins championships. As far as aesthetics are concerned, sure the casual fan would like to see a flowing game with goals, but for people who understand the game at a more fundamental level, it can be just as beautiful to watch a defensively-minded Chelsea wear down such a tactic over the 90 minutes. Besides, what debt does a team owe to television viewers, in order to play a style that is deemed more entertaining? The goal is to win games, not to look a certain way while doing it, and winning games isn't something that Chelsea historically have any problem doing.
