Insider Rumour: Helsinki looking to deal Patrik Laine

Laine

Recommended Posts

HELSINKI, FINLAND - The action around the VHL has started to heat up the last week. Malmo has emerged as one of the surprising frontrunners in the powerhouse European Conference, Vancouver taking a seven point lead with a game in hand on the second place Seattle Bears in the North American conference, and the slow start of the Helsinki Titans. Part of their slow start has been rookie Patrik Laine. Helsinki has stumbled out of the gate to a 16-10-2 record out of the gate and have gotten hot as of late, but their star rookie has been producing as advertised. Laine has only 7 goals and 13 points so far in 28 games to start the season, that would be all well and good but 4 out of his 7 goals have come on the power play along with 4 of his 6 assists. The kid has been a machine on the power play but a liability 5 on 5, which explains leaks that Helsinki is trying to rid themselves of Laine before this becomes a major issue. They recently switched him up to second line, and that move has worked so far. In 4 games on the second line, Laine has recorded 2 goals and 1 assist, all even strength points as well. While this second line experiment has worked so far, it is certain that Laine will be in trade talks for at least a few more weeks.
