Sam Keeler's Stock in Trouble After Terrible VHLM Season

Sam Keeler has slowly been gaining ground as one of Season 39's top prospects, but after his abysmal VHLM season where he only amassed a pathetic 9 points, his stock is slowly but surely dropping. Many have seen the work ethic that Keeler is currently putting in, but they may believe that his build isn't that of a successful VHL player. This has GM's questioning whether he will be worth a 1st round pick in a draft that is currently hyped as one of the deepest in a very long time. Today we are going to look as to why Keeler could possibly fall into the 2nd round and whether he is truly worth the ranking he's earned in the 1st round.

Bottom line, Keeler has flat out not produced even in the slightest in his first season as a professional player. Although he may currently be working towards improving his offensive game, it's clear that it has a very long way to go before even becoming remotely relevant. Keeler still needs to improve greatly in many things, including his puck handling and skating which both are subpar even by VHLM standards. As a player who could be taken in the first 7 picks of the massively hyped Season 37 Draft, this is extremely concerning for GM's and scouts alike. While people know that Keeler has a high ceiling due to his agent, it could be said that he may be more of a liability on the ice rather than a contributor because of his willingness to fight regularly as opposed to scoring goals.

However, many feel that Keeler's learning curve may be a lot larger than those of other players and he has the opportunity to truly be a star after another season of experience in the VHLM where he has the ability to round out his offensive game. Keeler is depending heavily on his physicality in order to survive in the VHLM right now, which doesn't bode well for his future game in the VHL. But the more Keeler realizes his ceiling going forward, the better it looks for VHL GM's to possibly take the risk on taking him in the 1st round.

"It's really unfortunate that I haven't been able to produce this season, I feel like I've really let my team down and they expected me to do more. However, my focus as it's always been is to continue to get better and round myself into a physical forward who has the ability to put up points. My end goal is to contribute in all facets of the game. If my VHL team tells me that I need to fight, I'll do it. If they want me to be a goal scorer, I'll do it. I'm trying to win championships and contribute while I do it."-Sam Keeler

In the end, I think some GM's will be scared away by Keeler's build and he will fall to the bottom of the 1st round. In my personal opinion, I think Keeler will end up being selected 10th overall by the Americans. He has a lot of improving to do and with the Americans being the current powerhouse of the league, it looks as though they are a perfect match made for one another. But with the draft being so up in the air, it's unknown whether Keeler will go before or after the 10th pick. Keeler is a huge project player, and in a highly deep draft there are much safer picks to take besides Keeler.

Content: 3/3 - Yup yup, I bet Keeler still goes pretty high, particularly if you're dedicated to improving.

Grammar: 2/2 - Season 37 Draft - 39

Appearance: 1/1 - I'd perhaps like to see one more image or one more type change to break up the copy. The quote does it a bit, but a second image might've been nice. Not docking though

Overall: 6/6

Final: 6
