Lester Green and the Los Angeles Star had just lost 4-1 to the Calgary Wranglers, which happened to be the Stars fifth loss on the young season. Green was just about to head down the hall to review film of the teams’ latest defeat when General Manager Josh Da Silva called Green into his office. Now entering his third season in the Victory Hockey League, all with the Stars, Green had never had than a handful of conversations with the GM. So when he was called into the office, he assumed it wasn’t to discuss a contract extension. Within twenty minutes of being told his name has come up in trade talks and the Stars were likely to accept, Green was packing his things on the first flight to the Ontario capital.

Green who was drafted Thirteenth Overall by the Stars in Season Seventy-Four was swapped for Center John Merrick who last season but up 107 points for the Legion, the team who drafted Merrick Fifth Overall in the Season Seventy-Three VHL Entry Draft. Obviously with such a high powered and talented forwarded being shipped out for a defensive defenseman and a Second Round draft choice, some around the league cannot help but think it was a clear win for the Stars. While we are zero position to disagree with the masses on that fact, we don’t think the trade was that clear of a win, and look at it more of a win-win for both franchises. Rumor has is Merrick was looking for a change of scenery, while Los Angeles was looking to make a move for more offense. The Stars get a huge offense upgrade, while the Legion are able to re-set the locker-room, as they look to use their impressive young core that is still mainly on their rookie contracts.

Now as we look at the team Green is joining, you’ll notice that the team happens to have a cupboard full of defenseman already on the roster with six, including three of those drafted in Season Seventy-Fix of Six. While Green joins the team as the second highest earner in TPE at this point, nine of the Legions sixteen roster players this season are still on their rookie contracts, so things are looking positive for the Legion future if the team continues to progress as expected. One of those players with a bright future is Lesters’ early line partner Jolly Green Giant. Giant who was the Second Overall pick from the most recent VHL Entry Draft, is the perfect complement to Greens defensive focused style, as the Giant has no problem jumping in on the rush with the offense.

Green and his agent are excited for the future in Toronto, but know a lot of work and SIM luck have to go the Legions’ way if they want to bring home the franchise’s first Continental Cup since Season Sixty-Five. After the warm welcome after Green entered into the locker-room, Green was so excited he sat in with the contract talks that began between his agent and Legion General Manager. Green and the Legion were quickly able to come together on a three-year term, that will hopefully end in a few playoff runs, and even more if the chips all fall together.

Review: Superb job with this article. I loved all the detail you went into about Lester while also keeping the vocabulary simple. Loved the addition of the picture(s) to the article and your formatting is also great. The proper punctuation and grammar gives you a nice boost to the final score.

Score: 10/10
