  1. Would love it, but the leg work/realism of it would be hard to counter balance. It'd be a neat project though if we could find a way to make it work.
  2. I think Sutter has the potential to be more than a third line guy, it's just a matter of if he can reach it.
  3. Sentiments agreed with Boom. You seriously made managing Cologne a easier and better time. Hope to you see recreate and be a vital cog on another franchise.
  4. And I've been proposing a failed idea at some sort of permanent roster system. Also permanent teams and the ability for GM's to name their own teams for some added fun. But like most I actually went with indifferent. I liked the concept of Super Cup on paper but I have never really been that engaged in it as it was executed.
  5. Simple poll. I want to gather feedback for peoples thoughts on the Super Cup, how it has improved/run before and thoughts on if you were paying attention to it, cared about it at all.
  6. S37 Gold Medal Winning Roster Forwards Kameron Taylor - 1130 Wesley Kellinger - 612 Doug Clifford - 522 Chico Salmon - 533 Naomi Young - 521 Damon Tyrael - 477 Defense James Lefevre - 653 Malcom Spud - 651 Willie Weber - 548 Godavari Yumalatopinto - 394 Goalie Steven Smyl - 597 Mike Szatkowski Jr - 431 Total: 7069 Only up a good 3K on the S14 roster, and surprisingly up even larger than S43. Might have something to do with the fact that we started doing it every 3 seasons though Victor. It'll have highs and lows based on the careers of your prominent TPE players. Also how crazy is it that the Canadian team from S37 basically had zero players under 400, I mean Yuma was but by like 6 TPE so not really. Meanwhile S14 has one forward above 400....
  7. Furious 7.... WHAT A BAD MOVIE. Like seriously, what in the hell did they do wrong with that series? Once they became basically heist films I was like hey, these aren't bad, not amazing mind you but watchable. But this movies tone was ALL over the place. Like fish flopping out of water awkward. It felt like 6 or 7 movies put into one, with the most absolutely stupid ridiculous action moments that are so fake and so bad it makes you wish the director had any idea what the word being subtle means. That doesn't even get into the script. Some of the WORST one liners delivered at every turn. Like the movie was actually hilarious for how god damn bad it was. Why all the good reviews on websites then? Like seriously. I feel like a monster but people really overrated this movie due to Paul Walkers death. The tribute at the end was a nice touch, but it like much of the film suffered from the issue of it tonally feeling absolutely out of place with anything else in the movie.

  9. Also if you want to argue effort, again watch the same video I posted. Play all starts after Semin stick checks the puck loose to Staal before making the incredible pass when he gets the puck. You can watch highlight reels of his play in Carolina and many good goals/passes he makes are set up by him starting the play with sound defensive play. Again, it's because he's not physical that his defensive game gets no attention. He isn't Datysuk levels or anything crazy like that but the effort is there. It's just a different kind of effort imo.
  10. Another underrated play by Semin. His playmaking is highly underrated and you can look at tons of highlights from his seasons with Carolina for that. Listen, if he was much older I'd get the "eh this is a guy who isn't going to make it past December." But come on Boubabi. This is a 31 year old coming off a season with wrist surgery that saw him bounce up and down the line up when he's clearly as SKILL guy and isn't met for third or fourth line roles. And even still, even playing all over the place healing on a bad Carolina club he managed 19 points in 57 games last season. When you watched him play (which I did, not that I'm a big fan of Semins but I still follow other teams now and then) he still had all the factors that make him good. There are a plethora of reasons why last season and the Carolina situation soured on him, but jumping down his throat and calling him barely NHL material already? If he were Canadian or American that wouldn't happen and that is disgusting. If it wasn't for a few grinders who used to play for the Caps calling out his work ethic and the total anti Russian bias that goes on in the NHL nobody would be saying anything. Even still, TSN and various other outlets signal this as a fantastic signing for the Habs just for the risk/price ratio. But most agree that Semin still has what it takes to play in the NHL.
  11. Don't worry about it Bouabi, in December (or sooner) I'll happily post right back in here ready for you to eat crow when he's an effective second line scorer who helps your PP out.
  12. Before you go all angry at me to look at this. From this past season. Keep in mind Semin did great with Kirk Muller, a coach who let him play with players like Eric Stall and Jiri Tlusty and were fine with his brand of two way game (he skates, he shoots, he passes (very well I might add, underrated passer) and he does play a two way game. His stick checking and poke checking are underrated. He just isn't a board player. In any capacity. He makes moves and uses his feet before he going to the boards or playing physical. Forget the wrist surgery he had last year, he also had to play up and down a line up and was told to play a more "grinder" role and "work harder." Semin is not the most gifted NHL player in history. I won't deny that. But he's the type of player that excels when you don't try to change him or make him play a certain way. If you let him play his game, put him with line mates who play a similar game he does just bloody fine. Montreal is a perfect fit for him in my opinion. This thread is filled with members arguing over Dale Weise and how he is great in MTL but wasn't in Vancouver. It's because as much as i"m not a fan of Therrien he allows players to play their games instead of putting them into roles that make no sense. Weise is a grinder with great skates and good energy. Maybe he liked to fight in Vancouver and be the "bruiser" maybe not, but either way it wasn't his game. Semin will be left to play the way he plays on MTL and it'll do very well for you guys both on the PP and even strength. You watch.
  13. Wanna bet on this? I say he has 10 goals for you and is on the second line by December. What should we bet? Because i'm 99% your wrong as it gets!
  14. Semin is highly underrated. Honestly I didn't want him back in WSH due to the bad fit, but he is still an NHL caliber player who can score. He played on third lines went through coaching changes in Carolina and fell into another situation where he just didn't seem to fit. But when he first joined Carolina and left the Caps he fit in very well. Some of it has to be attributed to a lack of competitiveness on the Hurricanes as a whole. I think on one or two year deals, he can probably be effective for MTL till his mid thirties. Honestly look for him to have a 20+ goal season with MTL and be a permanent fixture on the top six imo.
  15. Just got around to seeing Imitation Game. Hot damn is that ever a fantastic film! Great historical bio that does a good job at pulling on the heart strings and also managing to be both compelling and interesting all the way through. Well acted and paced as well.
  16. I voted other. While I agree teams should always have the option to make decision to find a new gm, especially internally I think it should be done with the approval and opinion of the Blue Team at least, and the BoG if necessary. Not because I think that the weight and opinions of Blue Team and BoG matter so much as to ensure we get the best candidate possible. Not just best in terms of who will make a quality GM either. The fact is we shouldn't be allowing another Bushito situation again, and if the current GM intends to promote someone from within who seems likely to flake, retires consistently or has issues staying active I feel some oversight regarding that decision would be wise. In a best case scenario the Blue Team goes over good internal options with a GM, and the people on the team interested. If no internal options are present I feel it's a GM's duty to try to stick it out until either one does come available, or until a fair solution regarding obtaining a player out of team (waiting for someone to recreate so as to not mess up a draft class for example) presents itself.
  17. Fantastic depth players are core pieces to cup wins. Ask Kachur/Raymond in S42. Or how about Tyler/Connor Evans in Season 32 with New York? These are just my experiences as GM but there are countless other examples.
  18. Yeah I don't make many myself. I recall making one when we won the Cup for Flyersfan/Robin Gow at the deadilne, and we had a part 1 set up earlier. However not only was Flyers an established GM and a Blue Team member but I also believe at the time like no other team that was competing had the cap space/means to trade for him. So it wasn't like even if he wanted to screw me over he had many options.
  19. We are almost at the halfway point of the season and Express rookie Thaddeus Humbert is well on his way to having what could be the worst rookie season ever. At least from an active TPE earner. Currently Humbert has six points all assists. That is half the point total Logan Laich had and Laich was considered by most a huge disappointment. Laich even had a saving grace stat in his physical play. He would consistently crack the top ten in hitters league wide. Humbert only has a solid plus minus combined with logging a lot of minutes to go on. The young defender has plenty of time to turn it around but one has to wonder if he will follow in the same footsteps as Laich.
  20. I kind of agree. But similar to any sword duel a lot of the flashing techniques are actually real and meant to distract opponents and throw them off guard. Even in MMA tactics such as that get used but to a lesser extent. Honestly people overrate the hell out of the original trilogy for me. That isn't to say the prequel stuff was better of course not. But people push for realism far too hard. In the space stuff sure. But Jedi and Sith aren't realistic. They are basically wizards who duel with laser swords. And I love it and would rather they go more badass awesome for the fight scenes in that regard. Provided the characters are still done well you'll still have your emotional stuff as well.
  21. The only thing I hope sticks around from the prequel stuff is the superior lightsaber duels.
  22. We either score five or give five up. But yes I get what you mean.
