9 VHLers wearing retired jersey #s [Final 6/6]
Victor replied to CowboyinAmerica's topic in Archived Career Tasks
I think Kellinger was a #15 - Jericho has no respect for his own history. Flyersfan seems to have gone out of his way to pick up cap dumps to dishonour Kendrick. -
It's things like this which have allowed the VHL to survive for 43 seasons.

Can we also have Tom Hiddleston as a villain?

I guess Stannis won it in the books... so that war is completely irrelevant in light of recent events. To be fair to the show though, does Varys poisoning Daenerys make sense in the book either? I thought he was a general Targaryen supporter.
-
omg hahahahaha by removing Aegon, show Varys in season 1 now tried (and would have succeeded had 0.01% chance of Jorah interference not happened) to poison the person he has always wanted to take the throne.

I appreciate both the essays above but I have, I think, in my mind, managed to separate the book from the show, but the show doesn't follow up on its own fucking teasers. - The Syrio and Benjen shit pissed me off to no end, I had really high hopes this would be their moment to go ahead of the books with something legit mind-blowing. Instead, they go ahead of the books with what, Myrcella dying and Stannis (off screen so eh? Does he become like the Mance of the show? eh fuck it)? Weak. - Fuck that episode title too. Stoneheart tease right there. And again, would have been a major win if the show had managed to conceal it and drop the bomb that episode. Instead of Arya killing "Meryn fucking Trant" (-Hound). Granted Arya has a similar moment in the books but season finale, really? Instead, show removes bunch of shit and adds nothing of its own. - Where the fuck did Baelish go? Another tease. He was taking an army to Winterfell and.... Maybe it will pay off next season, maybe he will turn out to be a genius (again), but everything he did this season was illogical and his teleporting device seems to only work one way. SO many teases and no pay-off.

You found Phil but neither Clegane, you failed

So it looks like Season 44 will be the first ever VHL draft without three rounds. In fact, there are not enough players for a full two but that's almost irrelevant. 19 draftees would still be enough for two rounds and a half prior to expansion but again, doesn't really matter. Truth be told, does it matter at all? Although it looks good to have four or five rounds (god bless S40), realistically, drafts still end up being about 10-15 players at best. Quite frankly, S44 will be no different. Out of 19 eligible draftees, 11-12 seem like they will stick around and so the amount of players entering the VHL will not actually decrease. Thus, the system which has proven feasible since Season 31 will continue doing so. The VHLM has taken a hit, as evidenced through contraction, but that is again not significant for the rosters of the VHL. Yes, on the whole it's status quo and it has been for well almost the entirety of my VHL activity, but incremental improvement is still better than decline. What we won't have in S44 is a late round steal who will have the motivation to spend two seasons in the VHLM and break into the VHL but then again, I struggle to think of 10 such players since Season 10. And certainly less than that if you discount drafts which had non-steal-actives going in the late second and early third.

Fortunately for you guys, the most boring man alive is managing Russia.

Damn, it's weird being out of the loop in the VHL. But what better way to come back as we approach the off-season than with a slightly late VHL.com article about something. Toronto fucked me over real bad in predictions. I was really banking on that Mike and then Stokes trades making them cup favourites and they go and get swept by Seattle of all teams. I regret telling Molholt to add to defence. Worse yet, for Toronto, is that them winning the cup was the only way they could have justified giving Helsinki their entire future? And why oh why did they give their S45 1st when Edgar was the only goalie in the system for next season? Was he banking on Quebec trading Waldron? In any case, unlike so many other contenders, the Legion had a first in S44, and while it is Cologne's, they were clearly in a position of strength negotiation-wise and I doubt anyone would have actually outbid them for Stokes if they had offered the S44 pick. Poor, poor choices. Fortunately for Toronto, the rest of North America is equally inept. Although I am not sure of Quebec's cap situation, they seem like they have another season or two in them, at least while Waldron is around. And alongside Waldron, Wolf. Maybe the key for the Meute is that surely they are favourites next season. Cologne is dead and buried after this one for long, Toronto has a depressingly good core in front of TOR G, and Seattle is, well, fucked. Stockholm and Davos have been waiting for this moment but the Dynamo have several question marks, and seem to not mesh quite as well as they might have hoped, as seen by their “third wheel” role in Europe this season. The Vikings, they will be good but how will Blake Campbell do with a full season? Anyway, done, see you in my next 590 in 10 minutes.
