  1. A Look at The Numbers Let’s take a look at the numbers for the two teams that have clinched a playoff spot in the VHLM North American Conference, the Ottawa Lynx and the Brampton Blades. First, let’s look at record and points. Ottawa has won a staggering 47 out of 57 games so far with 10 losses and zero overtime losses to earn 94 points. Brampton, however, has only managed to win 32 games with 21 losses and four losses in overtime for 68 points. There is no chance Brampton will catch Ottawa by the time the season is over. Despite the difference in records, Brampton has a better power play percentage, 24.37% putting them in 1st overall over 2nd place Ottawa at 22.22%. Also, Brampton has a better penalty kill percentage 82.33% over Ottawa’s 81.60%, 3rd and 4th place respectively. Brampton does have the most penalty minutes with 656 so if they face off against Ottawa’s 2nd place power play in the off season, it will be an interesting storyline to follow. The biggest differential between the two teams’ statistics is in goals for. Ottawa has 63 more goals for so far, 254 to Brampton’s 181. That is more than a goal per game difference. If Brampton wants to win any post season series, they’ll need their offense to match Ottawa’s intensity and they’ll need to maintain composure and stay out of the sin bin. That’s all for this Look at The Numbers.
  2. so you mean to tell me you have all that TPE and haven't written your bio yet? What's your secret?!
  3. Game Misconduct and still 2 assists. I'll take it.
  4. I think this is a cool idea if done properly.
  5. No problem. I'm already VHL GM so it's not a big deal. Figured if no one else applied I'd do it.
  6. Latino in The News: Catching Up with Flip Last time we spoke with Felipe "Flip" Rodriguez, he had just scored his first goal. Today, we speak to him after 45 games in the VHLM. He's sitting at nine goals and 20 assists. If you remember last time we asked Flip what his goals were for the season. At the time, he said,"If I can get close to 10 goals and 40 points this year, I will consider it a good year. Anything more than that is just great." Let's see what he thinks about his stats now that he has a few more games under his belt. Reporter: " It's been a while since we last sat down for a chat. How have you been since then?" Felipe: "It has been a while, hasn't it? I have been great. Hitting the gym as often as I can. Hitting the rink to work on my skating. Practicing and watching lots and lots of film to work on my defensive game." Reporter: "It seems like your work has been paying off. We have noticed an improvement on both sides of the puck. A lot more hits and shots being blocked by you, we have noticed. You are looking like a more well-rounded defenseman out there." Felipe: "Thanks, glad to see someone else noticing." Reporter: " One other thing we noticed was shortly after the acquisition of Sam Weaver, you were taken completely off the power play, any idea why?" Felipe: "Maybe the coach forgot how to spell my name? [laughs] No, no, no, in all seriousness, I wasn't taking advantage of my power play time like I should have been. Coach knows what's best for the team and if that means me sitting on the bench with the man advantage, so be it. Weaver has a lot of talent, especially on offense, so it wasn't a big deal to lose ice time to him, you've seem his stat line the first few games he played for us. That being said, I'm glad to be back on the first PP unit and I expect to put more points up or I'll be riding pine again." Reporter: "Last time we spoke, I joked saying maybe next time we'll hear from you after your first hat trick. Well, 45 games in and still no hat trick. Do you think you'll get a hat trick your rookie year?" Felipe: "I wish I could answer that with certainty but with 20 games left, it's hard to say. I'll just say "Maybe" for now." Reporter: "You're currently one goal shy of your prediction but 10 assists short. Did you over estimate?" Felipe: "Not really, a few multi point games in a row and I'll reach my goal. I didn't expect to have 9 goals already so this is a great place to be in." Reporter: "Thanks again for your time, Flip. Would you like to sign us off?" Felipe: "This is Felipe Rodriguez for Latino in the News, don't forget to tune in next time." That is all for this edition of Latino in The News. We'll catch up with Felipe again very soon. Hopefully next time he'll have reached his season goals. (526 words)
  7. We have a pretty good streak going.
  8. You were just added to the team. I was able to adjust the lines and send them off just about 30 mins ago. Top pair, top PP.
  9. Just hours into Felipe's tenure as GM of the Brampton Blades, he trades S47 1st round pick and Brampton's S48 2nd round pick for J. Sleeman and Burch of Bratislava. To Bratislava: Brampton's S47 1st Round Pick Brampton's S48 2nd Round Pick To Brampton: Sleeman Burch Brampton accepts.
  10. great hes gonna get drunk all the time And say bae all the time like a queer never. I promise.
  11. haven't heard that saying in a long time haha
  12. tell us why you think you'd be a good fit for the job Well, I'm fairly new so I know what new guys might want to know and learn. In the time I've been here, I've been very active in the locker room (you can ask @JardyB10) as well as in the point tasks and various other threads. I thoroughly enjoy this league and it's a lot of fun which will help keep me engaged and active for a long time. Also, I will try to get the locker room active and get people talking to build enthusiasm for the upcoming games. I will be a very interactive GM trying to promote activity from all team members which will result in a successful team. In addition, I have been a very respectful member of the forum thus far which I think can go a long way in getting people to respect me. I hope you consider me a good candidate for the position. Thanks for your time.
  13. Happy Holidays from Flip With the holidays fast approaching, Felipe Rodriguez has been reflecting on his family's traditions when he was growing up. For the Rodriguez family, the holidays are all about family and being appreciative of what you have, which in their case, is not very much. As far back as Felipe can remember, his family has participated in a tradition called "posadas." It is intended to recreate Mary and Joseph's search for lodging. It lasts from December 16th to the 24th.In his family, it mainly consists of lighting a few candles, praying the rosary, and eating food, lots and lots of food. Every year they would go to a different relative's house each night of the posadas. The family hosting would supply food for everyone who visits. As you know, Felipe's family did not have a lot of money but they would always save up to make sure they could supply visitors with their best dishes. Felipe's personal favorites were always menudo and pozole. Menudo is a Mexican soup made with tripe, or cow stomach, with a broth flavored with red chili peppers. Felipe likes to add chopped onion, oregano, and a lot of lemon juice to his. Pozole is another traditional soup made with pork in a broth similar to menudo. It is traditionally served with shredded cabbage and sliced radishes. (Menudo) For his family, Christmas wasn't about the gifts and materialistic things. His family invited the whole neighborhood in for dinner the night they hosted the posadas, that was the only gift they could give. Everyone seemed to love their food and the great company.Since Felipe is now too far away to enjoy these meals, he finds himself looking for ingredients to make them himself. He's even tried sending his parents money to send him premade meals but they don't seem to travel well. Now that he makes a little more money than he did back in Mexico, he plans to get his parents a new stove and refrigerator to help them prepare the holiday meals. Maybe this year he can find time to go back home, visit his family, and give back to his community. He could visit coaches and other young players like he was once. After hockey, Felipe plans to go back and coach hockey in the Liga Mexicana Elite where he used to play for the Teotihuacán Priests, as a way to help promote the sport he loves so much in an area that is so dominated by soccer. As for giving back to the community, he would like to visit schools and churches to try and raise money for those less fortunate, especially around the holiday time when not having much money can be especially stressful. Until he can go back home, though, he'll be volunteering at local gyms, YMCAs, and Boys and Girls Clubs to help teach the youth good values and morals. (480 Words)
