It's the most important thing. I'm willing to play for anyone as long as they have a winning mindset. I'm going to be paid what I'm worth. I won't make outrageous demands to be the highest paid or anything, but I expect fair market value. Winning is the most important part of the game, but I need to be sure I can live off my earnings when the time for me to hang them up comes around. I think these days a discord locker room is much more fluid. I currently plan on keeping up my 12 max a week. At minimum there will be 10 a week if I start to slack off on the .com articles (or if there's no trivia in a particular week). I'm pretty much locked into the minors for one more season since I joined midseason.

With PC and Trivia, it's very easy to get 10 a week here. A lot of teams have weekly PCs you can answer too.

Is Benny short for something? Not really. I think once they saw a female they just said, "ok you're in". 1. He's putting up the points now but come playoff time we won't have the powder puff teams to run the score up on. Founder's Cup or bust I think it would be cool to do some of both. The GM/AGM could have their awards and also have a secret vote for a couple others as well. Get input from both sides. I don't know if Morale has a true effect in the sim or not, but it tends to go up if your team is winning and go down if it is losing. In that case, having a better +/- usually means your team is winning, which should raise your Morale. Similar with Shot Blocks, teams that are worse tend to get more, so it makes sense that there is a negative relationship there. I would consider it more of Plus/Minus or Shot Blocks helps to predict Morale rather than the other way around though. For Overall, I think that's more because the people with higher Overall tend to be the ones that focus more on Scoring rather than Passing. Discipline makes a little sense here since it tends to reduce your total number of hits, so it'd be the reverse of the Checking logic. Also, I don't believe many players these days have particularly high amounts of Discipline (or Fighting for that matter) so that might skew their results due to small sample sizes.

With expansion on the horizon, it's time to take a moment to think about how the expansion draft will work. When Moscow and Malmo were introduced to the league recently, the rules were as follows: each team may protect 7 players and the GM player, any player with a NTC must waive their NTC in order to be exposed, and if a team does not expose at least one active member, a 3rd round pick in one of the next 3 drafts may be selected as well. In addition, the expansion team was randomly given a draft spot between 5 & 10, and for Malmo's expansion, Moscow was excluded from the teams that could be drafted from. I think we can adjust these rules a little bit. First, like before I would exclude Malmo from the expansion draft (as they were just added in S66 and haven't gotten their feet grounded yet) and I would consider excluding Moscow as well since they are just three seasons in, though I could go either way on that at the moment. As for the protections themselves, leave it at the 7 players plus the GM player, but make it that any player on a rookie contract next season (S66 or S67 players) only count as half a slot (i.e., protecting two S67 players counts as one protection). This would help keep rebuilding teams from losing their valuable young assets and force competing teams to make a decision between wanting to keep all their veteran players for a playoff run or hanging on to more young guys to start a rebuild of their own. Finally, since there are two expansion teams, each other team will have to lose two players this time instead of one. I think that we keep the must expose one active member or risk losing a 3rd round pick rule, but we don't expand that to two active players. That adds a little strategy for the expansion teams themselves as they could be stuck taking an inactive if the active player or draft pick is taken by the other team before them (and could end up in a situation where you don't take the best player available because the other player available from that team is still good while another team only has one worthwhile asset).

It was recently announced that the VHL will be expanding once again, adding two more teams to make it 12 total. Let's start things off with a big congratulations is due to the newly appointed GMs @diamond_ace & @Enorama. For diamond_ace, this is a homecoming of sorts as he'll be returning from a 26 season hiatus to become GM once again. Jason Glasser was the longest tenured GM in Calgary Wranglers history, running the team for 16 straight seasons between S26 and S41. In fact, the only GM that has had a longer uninterrupted tenure with any team is current Seattle Bears GM Blake Campbell @Banackock, who is in the middle of his 19th consecutive season. It's almost symbolic then that Kefka Palazzo is part of the Bears organization. Glasser had some success as GM for the Wranglers, winning a Continental Cup in S30 and a Victory Cup in S31. He was also one of just five GMs in VHL history to win the David Knight Trophy three times, taking home the prize in S28, S30, and S34. Diamond_ace is one of the most respected members on the forums, and it's truly great to see him take up the GM reigns once again. On the other side of the coin, Enorama will be dipping his toes into the VHL GM waters for the first time. Eno Rama is not entering the ring without experience, however. Rama served as GM for the S65 & S67 World Junior Championships for Team Asia, leading both squads to the bronze medal. He also served as GM for Team World in the S66 World Cup, winning a silver medal there. Enorama has been an outstanding member of the VHL for a full year now, and he has constantly helped out all around the forums as an updater, hall of fame writer, graphics maker, you name it, he's probably done it. It's a well deserved promotion for Enorama, and it'll be exciting to see how long it takes to turn his franchise into a contender. As for the new teams themselves, with the split into North American and European divisions, it would make sense that one team would be placed in the USA or Canada while the other would tap into a new European market. My guess is that Jason Glasser would take over the North American team while Eno Rama will be in charge of the European one. Currently North America has 2 teams in the USA and 3 teams in Canada, but with a lot of USA based teams recently joining the VHLM, it wouldn't shock me to see a 4th Canadian team added to the league. Given Glasser's history with Calgary, opening up a team placed in Edmonton would be a fitting place for him, though having two teams in Alberta might be a bit overkill. Another location that may be more likely for a team is Montreal. With the relocation of the Vancouver Wolves, Quebec, Canada's largest province, is currently not represented in either the VHL or the VHLM. The people of Quebec were not happy to see the Wolves success last season after they had abandoned the province, so it would be a great story for vengeance and lay the groundwork for a long term rivalry between the two clubs. For the European side of things, I'm going to go a little out of the box. Given Eno Rama's history with Team Asia, I would not be surprised to see an Asian team added to the league. Specifically, Shanghai seems to be on top of the list due to this input given by Enorama in one of the previous new franchise discussion threads. Shanghai is home to the Shanghai Hockey Club, one of the biggest premier amateur hockey leagues in all of China. While an expansion to Asia would be a logistical nightmare for a real life hockey league, we don't have to worry about that in a sim league. Expanding to more international markets is great for the league as a whole, as new users from those areas are more likely to stick around as they see that they too are represented. It would also be the first step to expansion all around the globe, as it opens pathways for teams in other underrepresented areas like South America, Africa, even Australia. Maybe even one day we'll see the North Pole Penguins in the league!

Toronto GM On Locking Playoffs, Dominant Season
omgitshim replied to Devise's topic in VHL.com Articles
Peace and Dragomir have been amazing additions to the team. -
Breaking news out of Toronto this week: Left Winger Oyorra Arroyo has announced that he intends to retire at the season's end. The announcement was made on Tuesday, just one day after fellow Left Winger and Toronto teammate Veran Dragomir announced his impending retirement as well. The pair have been instrumental in Toronto's magic this season, as the Legion have already clinched a playoff spots with 14 games still to go. They are a virtual lock for the Victory Cup this season and are currently on pace for 116 points, the most for a Victory Cup winner since the S62 Calgary Wranglers (of which Arroyo was also a part of). Arroyo's announcement came before the team's hosted the Malmo Nighthawks, a game that the Legion won 7-2. Arroyo capped the night off with an all time great performance, scoring 1 goal and registering 4 assists in the game. Arroyo has proven to be a solidifying force in the Legion's locker room throughout his career, and he's been a huge anchor in Toronto's 2nd line, making them one of the hardest matchups to play around. Toronto has been on a warpath after missing the playoffs last season, and with the way they've been playing, they appear to be the favorite to win their 3rd Continental Cup in 4 seasons.

Bloodlines got nothing to do with how good Brock can be; it's about heart and passion. Trying to live up to your ancestry is a lot of pressure to put on someone, and really, the Vancouver franchise hasn't exactly been the most successful. Sounds like people are already scared of getting their teeth knocked out by a woman. I got all the usual unoriginal nick names like "Cinnamon Roll" and "Cinnamon Buns", but otherwise they barely even try to talk to me. Think they are all scared. I got a Switch, anyone who tries to touch it without permission gets the death stare. No one's tried a second time. I'm here to win a cup, so I hope I'm put in the best situation so that we can achieve that goal. Sometimes you gotta play a little dirty to get what you want.
