Oh trust me I agree that maybe there isn't a fair way, part of the reason I bring this up is because I feel like the idea wasn't debated enough beforehand. It could throw some guys timing off so much that they don't get a 2nd player for 6 years like I said, which would be a huge negative. I also think that if they were loaded, one team wouldn't get everything unless they traded for all 1st round picks, but I see your point there as well.
-
That you would be correct. Which now you will respond with "Well then what is the issue?". The issue is who is able to enter the lottery. It just is disappointing watching inactives and recreates now under the 10 player way when some of us are waiting (in the case of a few actives they won't be allowed for another 6 seasons).^See TLO

I only said that because it was the second time I could recall you saying something about this topic when I've commented. The point of the 2nd player process was to pump players in the VHL to increase parity. Having 4-5 go either retired/inactive before they are drafted just makes the entire thing somewhat pointless in the number area. It would've been best to do a lottery for 6 members for each draft (because there our careers are 8 years long) and all 6 of them be active. Some may say the way it is now is realistic, and that is 100% correct but the point of this wasn't for realism, it was for parity. I just think a system in place where in order to submit your name to the lottery you had to update your current player each week for the past 8 weeks leading up to the lottery. But 10 players seems a bit much when some are retired or inactive already. HabsfanfromOntario could literally come back to the site and enter his name right now for the lottery and be chosen. (I used his name because he has had about 30 player sin this league).

Why do you always chime in like I'm mad at you or anyone? I'm mad at the process and very limited discussion on it before it was introduced. The entire point of it was to create a bunch of 2nd players that allows for league parity, but there needs to be a system to weed out people that might have checked in for 2 days and entered the lottery, and then went inactive again.

I take it your mad at it too? Join the club.

Most Improved and Top Defenseman. However I think they were pretty clear. Thanks for the votes!

See I didn't necessarily think the SHL members want these things or think that the VHL is so repetitive with ways to earn TPE, but it's more of a case of them being told something that is not. I am in both leagues (like many here) and my players over there has around 950 TPE and that is probably in the lower half of the league. What I mean by that is that 50% of the league has more than 1000 TPE or so. So let me speak on experience from both places: 1. The VHL offers Podcasts, Graphics, Media Spots, VHL/VHLM Weekly Fantasy Predictions, VHL Fan Articles as well as Welfare for those who can't do any of the previously aforementioned tasks. The SHL offers very similar things like Articles, Graphics, Podcasts, Weekly PT's and Predictions. I could argue that the VHL has a broader range of things to do and most being things that take 5 minutes tops if you know where to find them. When they tell you they don't think the VHL offers things, its most likely them just not being informed or they simply don't want to have to find out about it and are basing that assumption on laziness. 2. Team Task isn't a bad idea, but it is something that would have to come into effect with higher parity; otherwise a rebuilding team will just have 1-3 people working on it. 3. No. Pay to play or pay to earn is not the message you want to send to people. Sure the money for our advertisement would be awesome, but that's not what were about. 4. I think this is better off in the VHLM and that's it. Over there I earn 7 TPE per week by logging in for 2 minutes and I can forget about anything for the rest of the week. Activity Check and my bank rollover cash fund my training for 7 TPE. If it wasn't for the odd conversation I poke into, I'd basically be what we call a "5 minute member". 5. I've always wanted huge rewards for this and it's something we may need to look at. I tried to hash something out in the BOG once but basically was turned down by people who at the time said "that's too big of a reward for simply posting on a board and getting a member". Those same people I think (if I recall) are the ones who really want Recruitment to take off but won't lift a finger to do so. 6. We had this once, it was a mess to deal with. *My interactions with SHL members has been all over the map. Many have told me they strictly do not have time for a second league; which that is a fair reason of course. Some have said the VHL is too much work and that they are confused with how to do things. That is fair for anyone that is new to a new forum but whoever recruited them or told them most likely didn't help them past that point. The last point I want to make is not to ruffle feathers but it's actually the response I have gotten from some SHL members. Some just straight up think the SHL is the devil and they are too set in their ways to want to navigate it. There is also this big contingent who do feel animosity towards the VHL because they don't feel like rewarding "competition" or "rivals". It's one of the reasons I've urged guys from here not to purposely go there and troll or start shit, because that does more harm. In the end a lot of the people you messaged probably just don't have any passion to come here and told you some slightly off story so you'd be content with it. It's a shame really because I gave them a shot and still do have a player, a HOF player as well and I just weed out the VHL hate and continue on my way. I'm glad you did this though because it gets people talking. If everyone who reads this and is also in the VHL recruited just one active teammates, we'd have another 10 players for next seasons draft.

Tom Lincoln Biggu Kyanon @Green if he sees this
-
I don't see why not. Para wants to be active and doing this is helping out a member who left and came back after an absence.
-
Not really, I was actually just interested to see what you saw
-
Thats why it says "kind of new" as in he is a returnee with a new player
-
Was exactly was your thinking here though, did you think you needed to retire because you had a 2nd player on the team?
-
Yeah but there is a different group that qualify but also more that just didn't enter it
-
1. Theres actually a ton of people left. 2. Thats not how it works

Another disappointing off-season for Seattle

Debatable -
Oh I wasn't pointing fingers, just stating an observation haha.
-
I'll let someone who doesn't discuss a lot (and probably deserves a boot) bring it up in there to ensure they earn their keep.
-
I wouldn't call it fuss. I feel like something like this needs to be discussed and things need to be looked at for loopholes in any trade that someone is unclear about. I was unclear about a couple things here (one was the weight each team got) but that was cleared up as both GM's think they got a fair deal. To that I say "I don't think they did" which is said in a lot of trade threads. To the other one, it is something we need to think about for the rule book though. The GM Rule part that Devise (who should change his stupid name back) posted is a little too small for my liking considering the amount of things that are now in play for the 2nd player/GM Rule. The rule should just state "GM Rule can't be transferred to the GM's older player". Thus he has to acquire his next player in the draft or trade.
-
No certainty, but that's why I am discussing this because these are things that should've been sorted before hand in the BOG to avoid loopholes going forward. *Before you comment saying "But this isn't a loophole"; I'm not calling it one but I am pointing that word out so we can amend some things for the rulebook going forward. I may look like a conspiracy theorist here but I'm just getting around those Matt Cornell situations. If this thread dies and we don't add anything, I think we will have wasted our time.

Be what it is and if you feel that way that's fine, just figured a pick would come by to Riga along the way as well considering the lopsided TPE measure and the value the Goalie actually still has (deny it all you want but a goal with that TPE can still be a capable starter).
-
But given a few will retire shortly, he could hold on to his goalie and the value goes up next season. Just saying it doesn't look very even, no matter how you try to justify it.
-
Or the post you liked above, less wordage.
-
The younger player is already in his system through draft. So technically yes you're right he acquired his second player using a pick, but once he is in his franchise he could keep transferring.
-
I don't care who approached who haha, that's not my point. My point is the deal is somewhat lopsided considering their career points and the ability he has of updating both at a full 9 TPE per week. It's obviously the first time we've seen something like this, but it doesn't look all that fairly weighted. NY needed in the goalie for one season or not, they can go trade this (still able TPE earning) goalie to another team for pretty good draft picks.

Ex. Joel Jarvi is retiring so he transfer GM rule to NEW PLAYER Thrower is retiring so he transfers GM rule to Thrower then to NEW PLAYER 2 NEW PLAYER is retiring so he transfers GM rule to NEW PLAYER 2 then to NEW PLAYER 3 So yeah @Streetlight is right, we just need to amend this by not allowing a GM to transfer the designation to an older player. All is done! Solved haha
