  3. Can I still get 2? It's like 1:26AM here, and I was out and about all day.
  4. Can the Lynx Make the Playoffs? It has come down to the wire here between the Wild and the Lynx. Both teams have 65 games played and the Wild remain 2 points ahead in a playoff positon. With 7 games left for both of these teams, it is going to be a grueling task for them both to make it into the post-season. Big names for both clubs will have to step it up big time if either team wants to make it in. Needless to say, Ottawa's chances will rest on Konstantin Azhishchenkov's shoulders. He and his linemates Travis Boychuk and Noah Jackson will need to do well in the week to come. KJA has been on a tear, with 75 points in 61 games. Travis Boychuk has been getting better in the final stretch, and Noah Jackson has 5 points in 3 games as the newcomer. We have caught up with Travis Boychuk for a one-on-one interview about his thoughts on these final games: "It all comes down to this stretch here. We need to be consistent in the remaining games to end the season if we want to crack the playoffs. The playoffs are what we dream of when playing in any league and I look forward to making an attempt at proving we belong there. It's all about the work." It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the final games. It is up to star players whether they want it or not.

  6. What Lies Ahead in the Mind of Travis Boychuk? This current season is Travis Boychuk's rookie season in the VHLM. Most people did not know what to expect from this player, being a kid from the Ukraine coming over to the bigger league. He was always skilled in various categories in the game of hockey, but nobody knew if it would translate to success when he came over. Since coming over to the Ottawa Lynx, he has impressed the fans, coach, and scouts in different aspects. Boychuk has found a knack for scoring big goals in this league, with his recent being an overtime winner over the Storm in Game #289. He is not a star just yet, but he is capturing the attention of the many who follow the VHLM. When one thinks about the Ottawa Lynx, the big name who comes to the table is Konstantin Azhishchenkov. Travis Boychuk is slowly making a name for himself though, despite being in KJA's shadow. One thing to consider is that the Lynx are no favorite to win this year, but if their player's continue to develop the way they are then you can expect more success in the following years. If Boychuk can continue to find success here, it will do nothing but good for him. He is currently sitting at 10 Goals and 24 Assists for 34 Points in 42 Games. Travis Boychuk has set his sights on a number of goals for himself in the VHLM, and we have caught up with him for a one-on-one interview: -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- Interviewer: "As the season goes on, what do you look to get better at on the ice?" Travis Boychuk: "Well, something I feel I need to work on is my skating. I've been practicing it hard on my off-days. It's been more difficult to keep up to the guys in this league. I think I've been improving since I had a little bit of a rough patch there." -------------------------------------------------------- Interviewer: "It is starting to look that way. Your hard work has translated to the ice recently. Do you feel you have gotten better in areas since coming over to the VHLM?" Travis Boychuk: "I think that I am finding the right areas better than better. What I mean is the spots I need to go on the ice. The rough areas. My coach has worked with me on getting into the tough areas more. I've worked on my strength and conditioning recently." -------------------------------------------------------- Interviewer: "We have noticed your work along the boards lately. Keep it up. Are there any goals you have set to achieve in the remaining games this season?" Travis Boychuk: "I feel that I need to become a better player overall. My shooting could use some work and my strength on the face-off circle. My percentage on the dot has declined somewhat in the past 10 games or so. As a team we need to work harder together to stick in the playoffs." -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- Interviewer: "We wish you luck on that one. I've noticed you pot some goals in, especially that last one in overtime against the Storm. What kind of player are you looking to become in the years ahead?" Travis Boychuk: "The first step would be to become a premier player in the VHLM. I want to get noticed by scouts, and then be drafted to the VHL. When I get there I want to be a regular in producing points. Obviously, the ultimate goal is the Cup. I do not want to think to far ahead though. What matters right now is this team and it's own success. I will continue to stay committed here and do my best to improve." -------------------------------------------------------- Well there we have it folks. Travis Boychuk has been great in his rookie season on a mediocre team and fans are ecstatic to see what lies in his future. We will continue to watch him and his team as the season comes to an end.
  7. Game 286: Wild Game 287: Gladiators Game 288: Watchmen Game 289: Lynx
  8. With the season slowly coming to a close, the Lynx are still struggling to find consistency. They may very well squeak into the playoffs, but it will be quite the battle to stay there. They just cannot seem to win against the big teams. There are 3 teams in which they just have troubles scoring on, and it has impacting their record in a big way. Iron Eagles: 0-7 Watchmen: 0-6 Royals: 0-4 The proof is in the numbers that if the Lynx wish to become more than what they are, they need to find success against these teams. We have asked forward Travis Boychuk on his opinion in the matter: "We need to trust each other more. We need to battle harder on the boards. It's been difficult here to find the right players to put together. There have been many newcomers here, including myself who are trying to find their perfect spot. " said Boychuk. Travis Boychuk has 30 points in 40 games with the club. Not bad for a first year. We look forward to the remaining 16 games in the Ottawa Lynx's season.

  10. Travis Boychuk Exclusive Interview Travis Boychuk has settled in with the Ottawa Lynx of the VHLM for quite some time now. He is currently 27 games into his career in the minors and sitting on a good pace of performance. We have caught up with the man to discuss some in-depth questions. -------------------------------------------- Interviewer: Travis Boychuk, being 27 games into the season, how do you feel as a member of this hockey club? Travis Boychuk: Well, it's quite different than what I had back in Europe but it's come together nicely. It had taken me a little bit to get into the rhythm here in the VHLM but I feel very much at home now. My teammates have been nothing but welcoming to me since I've landed here. ---------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------ Interviewer: How do you feel about your teams chances at the playoffs? Travis Boychuk: I'm not going to comment on the playoffs just yet. There's a long road to get to where we want to be collectively as a team. We're barely on the fringe of the playoffs as it is right now. At the moment, we are just looking to get better with reading each other. ----------------------------------------- Interviewer: Have you had much chance to talk to your family since you've been here? Travis Boychuk: They've actually been to a couple of games. My parents and brother flew out here to catch a couple. They enjoyed their time at the games. ------------------------------------------ Interviewer: You had a lot of success back home with your scoring. Have you worked on it since coming to the VHLM or do you have a specific role on the team? Travis Boychuk: My main focus on this team is making plays. I try my best to find my teammates on the ice and use my skill set to pass to them when I see an opening. On my old team there weren't so many capable goal scorers, and here I can't say enough about the ones who were here when I arrived. It's much easier to pass when you have a guy like KJA on your team. ---------------------------------------------- Interviewer: What comments do you have towards your leg speed? Many scouts have stated that you may have slowed down since coming to the VHLM. Travis Boychuk: It's a much different game here in the VHLM. All I can say is that I've been working on it. I work hard every day and practice as much as possible to better myself as a player. It's a different rink here also, not the amount of room that I'm used to for making a burst of speed. ------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------- Interviewer: Have you and your teammates had the chance to get to know each other outside of the rink? Travis Boychuk: On our last road trip a couple of the boys and I went out for dinner. We drew out of a hat and I ended up paying the bill. It was pretty hefty. [laughs] ------------------------------------------------ Interviewer: Your team has had ups and downs throughout this season. Why has it been so hard to find consistency? Travis Boychuk: There's a lot of new guys on this team here in Ottawa. We are all just trying to find our place and what role to perform. After last year, many of the team was drafted to the VHL so here in Ottawa we basically just have a lot of learning to do. We are trying to find some chemistry here and see who plays better with who. It's a process that I'm sure we will figure out soon. All I want is playing time, and I'm definitely finding it here. ----------------------------------------------- Interviewer: You have 24 points in 27 games, while sitting at a -2 on +/-. How does that compare to what you expected in your first part of the season? Travis Boychuk: In all honesty, I was just looking to try and stay in the lineup. It is a nice plus that I'm performing how I want to. Obviously, most guys will want more points and that's how I feel also. More is always better. I can always better myself and I have been working hard at doing that in all areas. --------------------------------------------------- Well, that does it for our interview with Travis Boychuk. We are glad to have found some time from him to get this done as people have been asking. We look forward to watching Travis and the Ottawa Lynx play out the rest of the season. Good luck to them!
  11. The season has been a nice debut for Travis Boychuk as he continues to play for the Ottawa Lynx of the VHLM. Travis has been producing at a fine rate with a nice 20 points in 22 games for the Lynx. Something that is hard to look past is the chemistry between Travis Boychuk and Konstantin Azhishchenkov. Boychuk and KJA have something special brewing between them two, and it's something that one does not find all the time in the VHLM. They have chemistry not just on the ice, but off the ice as well. For a number of games, they were split up on the ice to shake up the team a little bit. In doing this, Travis Boychuk went under a dry spell of consistency and failed to produce a point for at least 3 games. It is to no surprise that pairing someone with the vision of Boychuk with a man that can finish like Azhishchenkov will produce major results. Off the nice, the two players have been rooming with each other since Boychuk joined the team. These two studs have developed quite a relationship. We look forward to seeing what the future will bring when these two are together.
