GAME WINNER FOR REVCHENKO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hello, my name is Ron Haynes with the Vegas Sports Daily and I am here with Las Vegas Aces Center Oleksiy Revchenko talking about this season and the upcoming draft. RH: Hello Oleksiy, how are you? OR: Hello Ron, I am doing great thank you. RH: How has your season been? What do you think of your team? OR: This team is solid, I love the guys I play with. I think we will see better results as the season goes forward but for now, we are not very consistent. We need to show consistency in our play to win more games. We have the talent and we just need to put it all together. RH: The VHL draft is around the corner, how are you preparing? OR: Yes I know, very exciting times indeed. I am just working at my game, trying to get a little better every game, every practice and be the best center in the league. I need to work on a few things but so far like the progress we are making. I am trying to become more well rounded to show teams I am a great player. RH: Experts predict you in between a first and second round pick, what are your thoughts? OR: I have not looked too much into it but going to the end of the first round would put me in the end with the better teams which is always good for a chance at a championship. I don't care where I am drafted, I just want to play hockey but every player wants a championship of course! RH: Last and most important question. Any good Ukrainian food in Las Vegas? OR: There are a few spots that serve good Eastern European food and I enjoy them but nothing like mother's cooking back home. Las Vegas is great for food though, can get a cheap prime rib or lobster at some of these places which is nice. It is a very touristy town which is cool because you can see new stuff all the time. Very different from Dnipro back home. Ha ha. Thanks, everyone, this has been Ron Haynes with Vegas Sports Daily with exciting young prospect Oleksiy Revchenko looking to help Vegas achieve great things in the VHLM this season and hoping to achieve greatness in the VHL in the not so distant future.

What skill are you most focused on improving? Which VHL team would you least like to be drafted by? What is your player's favorite food? Why should a team draft you? Where is your player's favorite vacation spot?

Hello everyone, I am Andrew with VHLNews and today we will be discussing the recent VHLM Dispersal Draft and how Las Vegas looks after the draft! With the first overall pick, the Aces took talented Canadian defenseman Robert Malenko, suiting up for Saskatoon last season, he notched 5 goals and 14 assists in 52 games played and managed a plus 22 in +/- time to go along with 51 hits also. Malenko looks to lead the defense for Vegas in a strong way and he has the ability to score from the backline as well. With their second-round pick, Vegas drafted another defenseman and another left-handed one at that in Jesper Stromberg. The young player from Finland played last season in neighboring Oslo for the storm and had a successful season for himself. Stromberg, more known for his defense and passing ability put up 9 goals and 25 assists in a faster Oslo offense and had 52 hits with 31 shots blocked as well and had a +/- of -5 but not all his fault. Along with Malenko, this defensive tandem appears to be the best in the VHLM with Malenko more offensive as a defenseman and Stromberg with more defensive ability. With their third pick, surprise, another left-handed skater and a familiar face this time in center, Oleksiy Revchenko. The young center from Ukraine came over late last season and played for Las Vegas in 11 regular season games picking up 8 assists while scoring no goals with a +/- of -2. He is young and inexperienced but has some skill and can be considered a steal in the early third round as some ranked him to go higher. He should be able to continue to put up solid numbers in front of the strong defense. Fourth pick, Vegas finally picked up a right-handed player in RW Jaroslav Zimmer. Like Revchenko, Zimmer was a late addition into the VHLM last season and played in only 8 games last season for the Yukon Rush. Zimmer put up 2 goals and 6 assists in the 8 games, good for a point a game and struggled in plus/minus with a -6 during his short time. He has a ton of potential and the young Frenchman looks to be a force alongside his Ukrainian center and score some goals. Fifth and the final of Vegas' picks as they passed in the future rounds, the Aces picked up Goaltender, Victor Ball who was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada! The young goalie played just 2 games last season with the Saskatoon Wild ending with a record of 1-1 and compiled a save percentage of 0.842 and a goals-against average of 3.03. With the new squad and great defensive first line of Malenko and Stromberg, Ball looks to improve upon his numbers and help this team moving forward. Overall draft rating: A- This team picked up some great talent. This team lacks a dominant goal scorer and hope to sign one or have Revchenko or Zimmer become a force up front along with the talented defensemen. The team has skill but gets an A- because of the lack of goal scorers picked up.

Malenko's Road to the VHL (Another Season Down Below)

Let's do this new Vegas teammate!!!!!!! Let's take home the cup! -
Player Name: Oleksiy Revchenko Position: Center Birthplace: Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine Handedness: Left Height: 6'0 Weight: 204 lbs Number: 53 Born in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, Oleksiy Revchenko has made a name for himself around his town and his country and one of the more exciting young hockey players to ever come out of Ukraine. As a youth, Revchenko played both soccer and hockey but quickly quit soccer to focus on his better sport which was hockey. Coached by his father, Revchenko shot up the ranks of the youth hockey scene in Ukraine and at the age of 14, signed his first professional contract with Odessa playing for their under 16 team. Revchenko, known for his smart play and passing ability quickly moved into the starting Center role for the team and excelled on the first line for years, moving through the ranks, playing with Odessa throughout his young career. While extremely talented and dominant in Ukrainian professional hockey, Revchenko moves to make a name for himself in the world's top league, the VHL. Time will tell how his game will translate playing against the top talents in the world but Revchenko is confident and skillful enough to become a premier center in the league for years to come. Revchenko signed with Las Vegas in season 60 and was reclaimed by Las Vegas in the season 61 dispersal draft as they would like to keep a player of his skills around. He has much success last season in shortened time with the Aces in the regular season and in the playoffs and looks to lead the team forward this upcoming season. Pros: Passing: Out of all the skills Revchenko possesses, passing is what makes him what he is. As a center, he is able to fit the puck in the right places to set his teammates up for scoring chances. He holds the Ukrainian under 16 and under 18 records for assists in a season and only played half a season for the under 20 team while gearing up for coming to the VHL through the VHLM. In Ukraine, Revchenko worked with Wingers who were not the most talented but Revchenko's passing ability made up for their lack of ability and helped his line's wingers to both be in the top 5 in goals scored while playing for the under-18 Odessa squad. Given more talented wingers, Revchenko can be a force and lead the league in assists in the right situation. Puck Handling: Oleksiy is a bigger player at 204 lbs but moves much quicker than he looks and is considered tops of his class when it comes to puck handling. This helps with his passing ability as he is able to weave through players controlling the puck before dumping it off to a teammate for the score or find a scoring opportunity for himself. While his puck handling is still improving and needs some work against higher level VHL defensemen, it is one of the better skills he possesses and in Ukraine, top notch. Determination: The young Revchenko has always worked hard throughout his life and his hockey career. He knew that hockey with his sport and knew this at a young age and put in the hard work to make the jump from youth hockey player to young star in Ukraine and then to a top prospect for the VHL. This determination is shown by the growth in his skills and also in the faceoff circle as he is strong with faceoffs as he wants the puck more than anyone else. His will and determination bleeds on to his teammates and makes them play better and his work ethic rubs off on teammates in the right way. Just having Revchenko on the ice can make the team a lot better. Cons: Scoring: While his abilities certainly suggest that Oleksiy could be a talented goal scorer, he has not been a top-flight goal scorer as a young professional. He is hesitant to take shots and much prefers to pass to his teammates even when wide open for the shot. His underlying abilities suggest he may be able to develop his goal-scoring prowess but he will most likely be a center that triples his goals scored with his assists as he always has been. Hitting: Revchenko is aggressive in his skating and his face off ability but does not check opponents as often as he could. He is more known for poke checking than he is body checking or hip checking, etc. It is not that he is afraid to hit, he just does not do it often. Given his bigger frame, Revchenko can have some success hitting the opponent when the opportunity comes up but for now, it is a major weakness in his game although there could be more crucial weaknesses such as his scoring ability above. As he progresses, his checking ability should improve a bit and hitting opponents will be more likely. He needs to develop his strength and use it. Defense: Revchenko is not known for being a defensive player, a big part due to his checking inabilities. Revchenko is an offensive-minded player and this shows on the rink as skaters can usually get by him with some ease. This is a part of his game that he has not really focused on but with his work ethic, should be able to improve. While it is not too crucial to be a great defender as a center, one should have some ability with it and looks to improve his defense somewhat. He won't be a great defender but given his offensive skills, adding defense will only make him more dominant moving forward.
