I think all members should be treated the same, hombre. All members and players deserve the same attention and passion. I had some good convos etc and I appreciated those.
-
With that being said, thanks for the fun and hard choices. Never easy for me. Also, @rory what's up, partner? @youloser1337 GG on the pitch. 10/10. Easily the best one. You will do good.
-
I thought the same thing. Tough to make a decision and easily the most passionate GM/team to pitch me is also one of the weaker teams. I almost went with them just to reward their pitch because they were 10/10. I had a few other behind the scenes convo's that boosted some others, but the rest wouldn't have cracked 5/10 I choose the team I chose mostly because: 1. Stats 2. I want to defeat @16z Their pitch was probably one of the worst.

Decision Time: Where does Mikhail go?

Double week claim - 1/2 (week ending in 28th) -
The spotlight is on Mikhail Kovalchuk right now to see where the Russian nuke of hockey offense goes in the VHLM as a free agent. Just yesterday, Mikhail finalized the paperwork with the VHLM commissioning team at league headquarters and officially became eligible to sign with a minor league organization. As we've bellowed for close to 24 hours, he's the son of VHL Seattle Bears legend and VHL Hall of Famer, Maxim Kovalchuk. The name has been a strong one in the victory Hockey League, being held as one of the top d-men in the VHL 60's era's. Now, 12 or so seasons are pops retires and hangs up the skates, his son Mikhail Kovalchuk is on the scene causing a commotion as the teams and his potential fellow teammates wait to see where he decides to buy his plane ticket to. We were fortunate enough to be able to sit down with Mikhail quickly, with our masks up and on, to discuss what he's looking for in a team and when he thinks he'll sign by! Sit tight VHLM, GM's. Hopefully this answers some of your questions and gives you a good idea on how to land the Russian Nuke. When do you think you're going to make a decision? I'd like to make a decision as soon as possible. One of the reasons we've waited this long was to give everyone a fair chance in having the opportunity to present a case, their team and their own pitches. I made a minor announcement today and it was made known to me that some teams didn't even know that I was now available to be signed. Once that happened, we received a few more offers and now the choice becomes a little more difficult. Ideally, by the end of today. I don't even know if that's ideal. I don't want to miss a game. I want every chance to get points, wins and tally them both up to great things. What are you looking for in a team? Well, everyone wants a chance to win but this isn't a 100% thing for me. I'm fine with coming on to help a team. I and my agency have always been an underdog type of crew. I don't want to go to the best team so we can absolutely slaughter everyone else. I want to go somewhere that either has a chance to win and I can make that potential rise while also maybe spoiling it for the favorites to win, or go somewhere where I can help some players develop along with myself. First lines minutes aren't a must, but we need to use some brain cells here. I want to do well. I'm fine mixing things up for wins and chemistry, but If I'm 143 TPE and we're playing a guy with 67 TPE above me for the sake of "he's newer so it's more important", you can almost immediately cross yourself off. I will put in the work, asI have to quickly climb here, to earn my spots. They should too and I will help them along the way. That's mostly it for now. Are you able to tell us who the front runners are? I'm not very good at doing this. My heart is being pulled in every direction. I don't want anyone to feel like they were my second choice, I didn't like them or it was something personal. This kind of shit is... shit. At first, I was into almost every team but was being pulled a few ways. I was being pulled closer to Mexico for loyalty reasons. Their pitch was also very well done and laid out. Saskatchewan has a decent roster. They "welcomed me to the league" which I found to be amusing. I've been a GM longer than they've been in the league, lol. Like I said, it's so damn hard to say anything right now because I don't want to upset anybody and I'm pretty afraid of doing so and making "the wrong choice". I'm going to give it a few hours here.. I'm really going to look at the rosters and who is on the team.. think about what I want my goals to be this season... I want to have an electric career... I have to beat out Maxim Kovalchuk so that is going to play into things also.. We will see what happens but any and everyone can reach out to let me know their thoughts. I'm very excited. Alright. Lastly and maybe just for fun, predict how you're going to do this season. Maybe that will help get some more eyes on you. I've really prided myself on being an offensive minded guy who can do a little bit of everything. My build I'm working on has me as offensively minded first, but my DF is going to be higher than a forwards mostly so I'll be able to attack them with no problem. Again, offensive side of my game might be a little higher temporarily right now, but things will balance themselves out as we move forward. I want to put up massive points for my team so I can help them win and I'm hoping I can prevent more than I score, but score enough that maybe if my D game isn't as strong as others right now, it makes up for it. At the end of the day, both are at acceptable levels to get the job done. As for my predictions on how I will do, 72 games, right? Been awhile.. I think in those games.. let's say I crack 20 goals and go with 23 goals, 55 assists for 78 points in 72 games. Could be lower, could be higher. Let's see what I can do! Well, there you have it, folks. The timer has started and the man says he's going to sign by the end of the day. He's provided the managers with some healthy information that should answer some questions that they have and give them an idea if they're interested in him and if they're able to provide the appropriate stuff to land him. Mikhail has some pretty big challenges ahead of himself and the first is going to be finding a home to play for the season. We look forward to his decision. Player Name: Mikhail Kovalchuk Birth Place: Volgograd, Russia Render: Ilya Kovalchuk Height: 6'2.2" Weight: 199 How do you scout a player who is the son of a past Hall of Fame hockey player? How do you not examine their play with optimism, hope and promise? Well, you'd probably scout them without those things if they sucked and fortunately for Maxim Kovalchuk's son, Mikhail, that isn't the case. Similar to his father, who retired as a Bears legend and VHL Hall of Fame, he's a a young defender starting out his career in the Russian Junior Hockey League. Also similar to his father is the style of hockey that he plays. While he isn't the biggest body and I don't think you'll be watching him flatten guys any time soon on a nightly basis, he's a big time hockey player that comes with an incredible offensive presence that's been described as the Russian scouting agencies as "nuclear". Mikhail has extreme potential to be a very strong player in whatever league is plays in that starts with a V and has officially declared himself eligible to become a free agent in the Victory Hockey League's minor association, the VHLM. Thus far, only a small amount of teams have reached out to him. Will he accept? Will he wait it out? Something tells me the clock is ticking and those that don't answer will soon regret it once they watch him play. Now, until that moment comes, let's show you what you can look forward to. PRO'S Loyalty - Almost every player that comes from this agency shows some form of loyalty. They have been known to leave if something has gone sour with the organization but tend to stick it out. Alike many Russian's, he's very specific as to where he wants to end up and what he's looking for when he enters into the VHL. Driven to win - He will stop at nothing to win. This kid was hungry in the Russian Junior Hockey League to collect W's and as the time went on, he slowly elevated his game to ensure he was doing the best he could at that time for his team. Every single statistics of his went up each season as his RJHL career progressed. Offensively gifted -He passes the puck, scores the goals, collects the points. He's everything a team needs if they're looking for someone to help out from the blue line. As his career grows, I think he's going to blossom into one of the most dynamic, offensively talented players of this VHL era. CONS Probably doesn't want to play for you - "I will leave after 3 seasons" was a sentence he seen a prior rookie waiting to be drafted say and he's learned from the best when it comes to that. He wants to contend with his dad and there's two places he wants to do that. Hitting - He isn't huge and he doesn't really hit right now. When needed, 100% he will. He doesn't want to get stupid penalties. This is a good and bad thing. Loves McDonalds - Eats it every second day. Has the potential of become obese. He works out... for now.

After 12 amazing seasons of being one of the VHL's best, we took a season off to rebuild the foundations of our family. S80 was still an interesting year for the team where we grew together and looked forward to the possibility and potential the team has. This off-season, we were shown the potential and possibilities the future could have in store with the organization. The locker room and team is bumping right now. We're in an excellent place and these 3 leaders are part of the reason why. From behind the scenes discussions about the team, activity and passion for the Bears, or the loyalty to the Bears family, I'm really excited to announce these 3 members as this seasons captains. Thank you to you 3 and the rest of the Bears for making this a difficult choice. We appreciate all you do and are grateful to have you part of DA BEARZ! Thanks, B&B

Player Name: Mikhail Kovalchuk Birth Place: Volgograd, Russia Render: Ilya Kovalchuk Height: 6'2.2" Weight: 199 Mikhail Kovalchuk is an explosive new player that has entered the VHLM scene and is looking to expand his last name. Son of former Hall of Fame VHLer and Seattle Bear Legend, Maxim Kovalchuk, who had an incredibly strong defensive career before making the switch to forward and finish their career with 609 points in 576 games played. Those numbers don't seem amazing, but while playing as a defender, his statistics were pretty elite consistently. Now, his son Mikhail, looks to exactly what his father did between S61 and S69. There are going to be tons of questions that land on how Mikhail will play, who the kid is and how they're going to turn out. What skills does the player possess and obviously, a constant career comparison with his father. While it's a forevers times away, you can't help but wonder which is going to have the better career. It would but hard to top his fathers exceptional play, however, Mikhail Kovalchuk has some extra steps in his game and prides himself on being explosively fast AND offensive. Looking back to give you some ideas on how the player is going to be, we head to the Russian Junior Hockey League (RJHL) where he spent his time between 16-18 before he became eligible for the VHLM draft. During this time, he went from being a player who had potential but even more comparisons and questions about him and his father, to proving at the junior level he was exactly what his last name was telling people he could become. During his first season with the league, he played for the Volgograd Vipers. As a rookie in this league, it's not incredibly hard to be a top talent because Russia is overflowing with it. Top talents have come through this league and either made their way to the NHL or VHL. Nobody goes to the SHL. It sucks. Through the 52 game regular season, he had 9 goals, 18 assists for 27 points, with an extra 44 hits and 93 shots blocked added on top of that. Moving into his second season as a sophomore, you can tell he put the time in at the gym during the off-season. The team also added a bulk load of stronger forwards to increase their odds at a championship. Mikhail and the Vipers, unfortunately, were eliminated from the playoffs in the second round. He, however, had an extremely strong season posting 14 goals, 25 assists and 39 points in 52 games played. In his 3rd and final season, probably like 99.9% of all of these ever written, they won the championship. He also was voted 2nd in D-man voting but you have to remember, Russia is rigged. He lost to Vladdy Putin JR who only had 16 goals, 33 assists for 49 points through 52 games. Mikhail Kovalchuk finished the season with 16 goals, 37 assists, for 53 points in 52 games. On top of that, he had 56 hits (apparently not much of a hitter) and 129 shots blocked. Mikhail is excited to start his journey heading into the VHLM. Alike so many others, he's also very excited to skip the VHLE and hopes to follows dads trails of playing for the Seattle Bears one day. He and his agent have expressed how excited they are to begin speaking with VHLM managers and get the process underway. He'd like to thank everyone ahead of time for the opportunities.

Woo Hoo! Exciting times. Isabella Campbell is in here final season and is looking like she'll end her career in PURPLE with Davos! She's had an okay career but nothing too amazing. So far in 504 games she's scored 233 Goals, 256 Assists and 489 total points. Pretty decent VHLer overall but didn't live up to my expectations - but that is okay. Another exciting thing, I wasted no time in recreating a player. Son of Hall of Famer and Bears Legend (better than HOGAN), Maxim Kovalchuk. Mikhail Kovalchuk has entered the league and is currently on the hunt for a VHLM team. Now, onto the fast blabs... Man, did Seattle ever have a good off-season. We went from competing from 68-79 (7 finals appearances and 5 cups in 12 seasons), to rebuilding in S80, to HOPEFULLY making the playoffs in S81. Pretty quick turnaround. The Bears are looking pretty good and we're very excited for the future. the LR has been excellent. I'm very happy with the team and everyone. BIG FA fun this year for us. I appreciate everyone who took the time to speak with us. I had a lot of fun getting to know everyone, their intentions and all of that. We made it out pretty damn good - bringing home to Seattle @BOOM and @youloser1337. League is strong in some ways, weak in a lot of ways too. Lots of selling. League expanded, basically all expansion teams contended with the already contending teams. Oneof the most competitive times I've seen in VHL. Now the cycle has flipped. EVERYONE SELLING. Was interesting. Ended up being fun. Until next time, okay?

What a fun tournament the S80 World Cup of Hockey was this season. I was fortunate enough to be asked by the WCOH commissioning team ( @bigAL & @Ricer13) to take on Team Canada and while I thought my odds could be good to win, after looking at the other rosters I wasn't too sure. After my hiring, I quickly hired my assistant GM ( @Alex_J32) and we got to work discussing the rosters and who would be selected. After the first sim, we were 2-2-0. Sims were okay but not at all what I expected. I expected at least 3-1, so this meant shit was real. @MexicanCow123 was nice enough to hold off on sims so I could finish work to get in lines - thanks, buddy - and boy was I ever happy we did. I studied the games, other teams rosters and made up what I thought could maybe beat the other teams while also getting our amazing back up @Trunkxolotl some games in. We ended up finishing the tournament 6-3-1, which was good enough for 1st place. Not only did @Domg5 score the game winner in OT against Nordic to win the GOLD MEDAL BABY... but he was also lights out in the leading the team with goals through the round robin with 9 g in 10 GP... Groovy Good lead with 17 points! Our entire forward system absolutely slayed it and our defensive core absolutely killed it as their points ranged from 9 points to 14 and 16 led by @Frank and @fishy #FF. It was an awesome surprise to be part of this tournament again. I can't even put a number to how many times I've been part of the WJC or WCOH and I definitely have quite a few different colours of medals around my neck now. Thanks to everyone involved. The shit talking as super light hearted and down to earth, everyone was a good sport and @MexicanCow123 did a greta job simulating for the first time. GOOD JOB GUYS! Thanks for letting me be part of it GO CANADA GO!
