  1. Media Spot VHL Article For 8 uncapped total.
  2. Scoringsonn has been crucial off the bench for the Philadelphia Reapers this season, providing spark and energy when he hits the ice. It had been a difficult transition for the young Icelandic Superstar, used to playing big minutes, but as his game has matured, so has he as a person. "I do whatever my Coach and GM ask of me when I'm out there. There's more to hockey than individual stats and I'm blessed to be able to play for Philadelphia and hopefully help contribute to a deep playoff run. We've got the guys capable of winning it all, and I'm just excited to improve and showcase my talent as the VHL draft approaches. I'm here to win, and that's that." On who the Reapers' most tough competition will come from: "Halifax has been an incredible team in the regular season. Like us, they ended the season on a high note and put together a string of wins to cement themselves as the second seed in the playoffs, so you can tell just how hungry they are for that title. Playing against them and the likes of Gaudette, Axelsen, Passerelli and Burn will really test myself out on the wings. They play an uptempo and exciting brand of hockey and I'd love to play up against them in a best of seven down the line."
  3. In for a fight: Philadelphia primed to knock the opponents out. The Reapers have enjoyed a renaissance season, following much scrutiny from GM Blade following her flurry of moves in seasons prior. These bold tactics have paid dividends for the city of Philadelphia, as the squad locked up the top record in the VHLM, setting up for what is hopefully a deep playoff run towards the cup. Philadelphia has all the pieces necessary to make a deep playoff run, but some of those pieces are more important than others. This article will highlight those players that will need to be at the top of their game if the Reapers want to be lifting the trophy up at season's end. Kyle Sabertooth: The nineteen year old left winger from the United States has been setting the ice ablaze this season, leading the Reapers in scoring with 91 total points. He has a terrific mixture of both goal scoring and assisting, balancing the two perfectly to help lead the Reapers from the front. As a jack of all trades, Philadelphia will need him to be firing on all cylinders to lead the team from the front. John Frostbeard: Captain Courageous of the Reapers, Frostbeard is well renowned in the Philadelphia Locker-Room for being a great team influence and leader. His play on the ice is an extension of this, leading from the front as Philadelphia's leading goal scorer with 48 goals on an impressive 13% shooting percentage, good enough for ninth in the entire VHLM. Look for Frostbeard to stay aggressive on the ice and push the puck relentlessly. Boone Jenton: The enforcer in the Reapers lineup, Vigneault is renowned for his bone-shattering hits and his knack for getting in front of the puck and blocking shots. Add an additional 63 total points for the defenceman and you begin to see that Jenton is an all-round defender with the ability to do multiple things at an elite level. Philadelphia plays an aggressive brand of hockey and that is spearheaded from the defense of Jenton and his partner in crime Vigneault at the back. Walter Clements: The center for the Reapers, Clements is highly regarded as a player who gets the puck to guys in position to succeed. He leads Philadelphia in total assists, as well as managing to come up with an impressive 148 hits to boot. He is a true two way player and a good barometer for how the Reapers are going over the course of a game. If Clements is playing well, gaining extra possessions and playing up front aggressively, then Philadelphia is in an excellent position to do well in the contest. GM Blade: Above all else, Blade has proven herself as an exceptional GM, with the foresight and guts to be able to pull off questionable (at the time) trades in order to set the Reapers up for future success. Her game-planning will be critical come playoff time as the Reapers look to make a deep push and finally get their hands on that VHLM Cup. While there are still many question marks over Philadelphia entering the playoffs, they are in a prime position to succeed given the depth and quality of their squad. Only time will tell if their fairy-tale season will result in glory or defeat.

  6. Controversy has struck the Philadelphia Reapers, with young winger Bjorn Scoringsonn caught roaming the streets of Ottawa half naked and drunk during the team's off week recently. Many of the team's fans were present and caught high-fiving the young Icelandic player after the team's game on the weekend. The shirtless Scoringsonn was seen singing "We are the Champions" along with a colourful medley of Queen songs, after reportedly finally seeing Bohemian Rhapsody. "I'd like to apologise to my family, friends and the Reapers organisation. Truth be told, it was the first time I've drunk alcohol since the legal age in Canada is lower than it is in the states. We were out celebrating as a team and well, I think I crossed a few lines and didn't look back. If I had my time again I would have obviously drunk in moderation and most importantly, kept my shirt on at the establishments I had visited. I'm not proud of my actions and I hope you can all forgive me." Not much is known on how the Philadelphia Front Office will react to these latest claims and vision, yet you could realistically expect there to be penalties and fines handed down to young Scoringsonn. Whatever the end result, some lucky fans in Ottawa got to spend some quality time with one of the league's young stars.

  9. Bjorn Scoringsonn has been selected to play for Team Europe in the upcoming World Junior tournament. We caught up with the fresh-faced winger for the Philadelphia Reapers to get his response to the selection: "I'm beyond excited to be able to represent Iceland when I step out on the ice for Team Europe. It's something I've always envisioned myself doing, and it's just a testament to my hard work and dedication. I'll always play that little bit harder when I have the Icelandic flag stitched across the heart of my jersey. Here's hoping Team Europe can continue the success of past teams and show the rest of the world just how good Europeans are." As the season continues for the Reapers, you have been generating a lot of buzz as a potential high pick in the upcoming draft. How do you stay level-headed? "It's difficult to drown out the noise but we all know the VHL is there for those who are talented enough to make it. I'm here to show people that I'm one of the best players in my class, and I'm ready to contribute in the next level. The best way I can drown out the noise is just to play good hockey, and let my play do the talking."

  11. On the season so far: "We've started off really well, and we are meeting the expectations we have set ourselves. Ottawa and Philly seem to be the teams to beat early on in the season, as many pundits have predicted. Our recent loss to the Marlins was a bit of a shock and honestly we seemed under prepared, and maybe that was due to the fact we beat them pretty easily in our last match up. It goes to show how competitive the VHLM is at the moment: any team can beat any team on a given night. It definitely makes the games more exciting." On his own play as a leading right winger for the Reapers: "I've had an up and down start to the season. Some games I can be on fire, and the puck feels great in front of my skates. Other games I feel like I'm just out there making up numbers and I'm not contributing. I think I need to find a level of consistency that I can work towards to help our team really separate from Ottawa moving forward. I need to be comfortable having pointless games, and to remind myself its my role on the team to be super aggressive and continually looking to punish the opposition."
  12. 5- Why did you pick your jersey number? I guess I can say I like the number 11 6- Do you wish we had a monochromatic color scheme like some of the other teams do? I like our colour scheme, it's unique and sets us apart. 7-Worst topping to put on a pizza? Pineapple -- fight me. 8- how would you describe your players persona? Eager to prove himself worthy of the love he's gotten from Philly. 9-Team you want to beat the most this season and why? Ottawa for sure, they seem to be the other best team in the VHLM. 10- If Walter is driving our team bus, then what are you doing on the bus (make me laugh)? Sleeping, definitely. Or looking for quality GIFs.
  13. Bjorn Scoringsonn is currently undergoing his second season in the VHLM, after joining the Philadelphia Reapers late last season after a deadline move to sign the young Icelandic sensation. In his brief appearances with Philadelphia in season 65, Bjorn showcased glimpses of the potential the Reapers had seen in him over his junior club appearances with the Icelandic National Squad. So far in Season 66, Bjorn has seen a steady improvement in his play, and he finds himself ready to help lead Philadelphia to a championship. Let's see how he's gone in the first five games of the season. Game 1: Reapers defeat Hounds 4-2. Summary: Bjorn played well in the first game of the season. His improvements to puck handling and passing seemingly paying off, after setting up a goal with a nice pass to teammate Kyle Sabertooth, giving the Reapers their fourth goal of the evening. It was the perfect start to the season for the Reapers, as they look to turn the tables on what was a forgettable season last year. Expectations are high within the team. Game 2: Reapers defeat Storm 3-1. Summary: Bjorn had less of an impact on this game, relying on his teammates to help get him the result. He was aggressive, attempting five shots, and when Bjorn is aggressive with the puck the team tends to do better. Game 3: Reapers defeat Marlins 5-1. Summary: Bjorn's best ever game in the VHLM. He made up for last game's lack of results by scoring his first ever career double. He took four shots and converted on two of those, leading to two goals in the Reapers 5 goal haul as they demolish the Marlins. His confidence after the game was noticeable, especially comparing it to his downtrodden mood following the 3-1 win over the Storm the previous night. Game 4: Reapers defeat Bulls 5-3. Summary: A tremendous game of hockey with an abundance of goals for both sides. Philadelphia came out on top following a hot start and a four goal haul in the first two periods. Bjorn with one goal, although a negative in the +/- column. Scoringsonn needs to work more on taking less shots and getting his teammates involved. Game 5: Reapers defeat Aces 5-1 Summary: Bjorn came into his own in this game, following up a poor personal performance by putting in a two goal haul against Las Vegas. His plus/minus improved substantially and he was up amongst the team leaders in that respect. The team continues their hot start by going 5-0 to start the season. Bjorn has had an up and down start to the regular season for the Reapers; while his team has been outstanding going undefeated, Bjorn has had more personal highs and lows. Going from pointless games one night to two goal hauls the next, look for Bjorn to sure up his consistency moving forward. The Reapers are a hot contender to take out the VHLM cup, but they will have to improve steadily from the inside if they want to compete against the likes of Ottawa come playoffs.
