  2. Bjorn on wanting to get started: It's been one of the longest off-seasons for me. I've put the time in on the ice and in the weights room to try and take my game to the next level, and I feel like things are really coming together for me out there on the ice. We've got great fans here in Philly and I know missing the post-season last year was rough for them to have to go through, but I know this year they are going to love the Reapers squad. We are beyond excited to get things going. We are going to make the city forget about the bad times, that I promise. On being named as part of the Reapers leadership group: It's an immense honour to be part of the team's leadership moving forward. With Frostbeard as our captain I can't wait to get the season started. Knowing people have put their faith in me is a responsibility I don't take lightly, so I will have added motivation to perform when the games get under way. I think anything less than a Championship will be a disappointment for this team, and its something I know the playing group agrees with me on. We have immense talent on this roster and we are beyond eager to get out there and prove it to the city of Philadelphia.
  3. 1-Did the draft go as you expected it to? I trusted in our GM and Assistant GM and they delivered. Only thing I knew about the draft was that we'd kill it. 2-Most exciting part of the draft for you personally? Being drafted with a lot of forwards who will push me in practice. 3-Who do you think will be our greatest competition? Houston had a strong draft and I think they'll come out and pack a punch on the ice. 4-Team that you think will struggle to win games and why. Yukon looks to be going through a similar rebuilding phase. 5-Were you surprised with Philly's picks? Nope! I knew everyone drafted would be good players and good lockerroom presences 6-Who would you have chosen 1st OA? Frostbeard forever!
  4. Player Name: Bjorn Scoringsonn VHL/VHLM Team: Philadelphia Cash you have: 2M Purchase Name: First Gen Doubles Cost of Purchase: 1.5M Cash Left: 500k
  5. On being back with Philadelphia: "Going back to Philly at number 18 in the draft is a real blessing. The old me would have been a bit competitive and angry that so many guys were taken before me in the draft, but I believe this is where I really needed to play to develop my game and take it to the next level. The coaching staff and GM in Philadelphia are incredible people first and foremost, so its really thrilling to be able to return." On expectations with Philadelphia selecting so many formidable players: "I think we have the talent needed to really make a deep push into the playoffs. Obviously we haven't even had a single training session on the ice yet, but I am familiar with the guys the Reapers have picked and I can't wait to get on the ice with them. While we are talented individually, I think our biggest strength comes with our ability to play for each other." On personal goals for the season: "I want to be one of the best forwards in the VHLM, and I think I have the talent to do that. This will be a big season and it will help me prove myself as a great prospect as we look ahead to the VHL draft and beyond. I can't wait to get started and show everybody how I've been improving all aspects of my game"
  6. 7-If you could jump into a pool full of something, what would it be? Money, and hopefully it's a giant pool. 8-How do you relax after a hard day of work? Jump on the couch and watch something with the Mrs 9-What’s your favorite Disney movie? Does Endgame count now? 10-If you could keep any animal as a pet, what would you choose? A Penguin for sure 11-Where do you think you are going in the draft (round and team)? I think Pick #18, I have a feeling about it. 12-Who do you hope comes to your new team with you? Success and improving as a player is anybody's dream

  8. Recent draftee Bjorn Scoringsonn, detailing draft night, and his expectations moving forward. Many of those in the know (or in the media) have labelled me as an enigma of a prospect. And, well, I guess in that respect they are right. I didn't get any guarantees from any VHLM teams. While sure, I had interest and interviews with a few GMs, I was told my range was anywhere from #5 to #30. That was made true when the picks came and gone, and I sat in the green room with my family, not knowing where I would go, or when. It was the most nervous I've ever been. This wasn't a rare occurrence for me: I have a pretty detailed history of going unnoticed, or flying under the radar, due to the lack of scouts available in Iceland. The VHL has few Icelandic players, but we are a proud nation, and we players always give it 110% out on the ice whenever our number is called. That is something I hold dear: I am representing my country, and I'll always remember that whenever I play. Heading into the draft I was made well aware by the Philadelphia Reapers GM that I might not be able to return home to Philly: the first non-European city I ever visited. There I turned from a boy into a man, I was thrown into a foreign land with a foreign language, and I was expected to produce straight away. The Reapers took a big risk in an unknown kid from Iceland, and I will always be thankful for them for that chance. Scoringsonn looks to be a leading force for Philadelphia moving forward. Knowing that Philadelphia had a lot of picks in the draft made me excited about potentially returning there. I know it wasn't a sure thing, but the GM had coped a lot of flack for the moves that ended up gaining them all those picks, and I know they did it for a reason. To be truly competitive in the VHLM you have to be willing to take leaps of faith and hope that they turn out for the best. I know first hand that is true: otherwise I wouldn't be here writing this article. So when pick number eighteen, belonging to the Philadelphia Reapers, was announced to be some guy called Bjorn Scoringsonn from Iceland, I was over the moon. I had just bought a flat in the Philadelphia area, I had made friends, and most of all, my family had just come over to live with me as I make the push to the VHL. Being back in a familiar space and area is something I had hoped for, and those wishes came true. I think Philadelphia can win it all this season. I truly do. Our GM has done an incredible job bringing together some fresh (and old) faces, and I believe we have with it takes to mesh our games together well to be a force to be reckoned with. It will be an incredible ride to be able to get a training camp under my belt, and a full season with a team. I promise to repay the faith shown in me. This is just the beginning of my journey. - Bjorn.

  10. Bjorn on being scouted for the VHLM draft: "It's something I'm used to, and honestly I hate it. I feel like it hampers my play out on the ice when I know I'm getting judged, you know one bad game or one mistake could be the difference between you going first overall, or fifth. It's something I know I have to get better at moving forward because pressure makes diamonds, and I want to be one of the best players the VHL has ever seen. I'll be glad when the scouting process is over, and I can just sit down and enjoy the experience of getting drafted." Bjorn on potentially being drafted away from Philadelphia: "I have thought about it with my family and friends, and even teammates. That is what makes it unique and gives the league more parity: we are only here for a set amount of time and then we potentially move on. With that being said, I know the Reapers own a lot of draft picks. I'd love to return to Philadelphia. They've helped me grow as a player and as a young man..but I know this a business and they have to make the right moves for their franchise. If I have to go elsewhere, I'll play my heart out and make that my new home. But Philly will always be special to me." The VHLM draft is rapidly approaching, and speculation about Bjorn's stock will certainly be interesting to follow moving forward.
  11. 1-If you got stuck in the elevator and was forced to listen to only one song, which would it be? Nights - Frank Ocean or Let It Happen - Tame Impala. Both long songs with change ups, so its technically cheating. 2-What was your worst job? Waiter at a restaurant. 3-What is the best advice anyone has ever given you? Don't shit where you sleep. 4-If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Somewhere in Europe. The idea of taking your car and going for a drive and ending up in another country sounds incredible. 5-How do you treat people who annoy you for no reason? Avoidance is a man's best friend in this respect. 6-What does your name mean? Eleven is just my lucky number, pretty simple really.

  13. 1. I'm really enjoying my time there, I can't wait to spend a full season there before moving on to hopefully the VHL. 2. I'm hoping to be the leading point getter on any team I join; but I'll do whatever the team needs. 3. David Pastrnak is one of my favourite players to watch; I try to play like he does. 4. I don't have a preference at all, I'll go to whoever needs me the most 5. I have no real idea. It's a talented draft so I could honestly slip out of the top 10. 1 question from the Player Press Conference for my weekly 6 answered:
  14. Weirdest thing in your hockey bag? Probably my Nintendo Switch. It keeps me interested on those long road trips.
  15. On Bjorns goals this off-season: "Looking forward to going back to Iceland for a few weeks to catch up with friends and family. After a rough season where Philadelphia struggled in the VHLM, going back to my home and relieving some of that stress is just what the Doctor ordered. I'll be training with a view veteran VHL trainers to hone my craft: mainly looking at improving my defense and passing ability. Of course, my translator will be accompanying me yet again, as I look to continue to improve my ability to speak English." Bjorn had a tremendous end to the season, and while it may have been a coincidence, a new pre-game routine might have found a place in Bjorn's pre-game plans moving forward. "Yes, it's true, but I don't know how the media caught wind of that. The day of the game I go to a massage salon with my old teammate and now Magnus, and we get a massage and sauna. We just talk about the game, go over my matchups and try and visualise success. The massage helps loose me up and the sauna helps me feel totally refreshed." We should hear more of Bjorn's name being mentioned in the media as the VHLM draft rapidly approaches. Little is known on his stock or even where he may end up, but Bjorn is excited about the future. "I'm very excited, I feel like towards the end of last season I played some of the best hockey of my life. I'm looking forward to doing more of that and improving to an even better level of play. I feel like I can be one of the best young players in the VHL, and I'm eager to prove that."
  16. Scoringsonn celebrates his first goal for Philadelphia. Bjorn Scoringsonn has had a mixed bag of performance as his debut season with the Philadelphia Reapers has come to an end, with the squad not able to produce to their potential and make the post-season. Not much was expected from Bjorn, a player who for most of his life has flown unnoticed under the radar. He lets his play on the ice do the talking, and as the season progressed and Bjorn got more comfortable with the team, he was able to contribute more consistently. Many scouts and pundits noticed Bjorn improve his skating, goal scoring and passing as the season progressed. He came in quite raw, despite being a top ranked junior in Iceland, he found himself playing in a league full of top ranked players from their own countries. It took him long to fall back to Earth and realise he wasn’t the best player on the ice anymore – far from it. He had to learn how to play in a team construct, to pass and defend, to do the little things on both sides of the puck that would help his team gain advantages. He would go on to explain his shortcomings with the aid of a translator: “I came in not knowing English very well, which made transitioning to the VHLM that much more difficult. Having to adjust to an entirely different environment in America and being away from my family at such a young age has definitely taken its toll. But I’m happy with the progress I’ve made so far. Hopefully I can enter the VHLM draft with some momentum behind me and look towards buckling down for the VHL.” Bjorn working hard both on and off the court: seen here practicing his English in an interview. Bjorn’s words about slowly integrating and transitioning himself into the Philadelphia style of hockey ring true when you look at his last few games: solid results, while Philly didn’t win. Most glaringly, Bjorn’s individual play improved, including a two-point performance against the Saskatoon Wild in his final game of the season. His two assists speak volumes of his development: Bjorn came into the league as a known goal scorer, while his passing and defending left a lot to be desired. “I came from a junior system in Iceland that didn’t have the strongest of players. I don’t want to sound cocky, but I was far and away the best player of my age group, and I did things by myself a lot of the time. I could get used to this passing thing [chuckles].” Bjorn’s eyes now look to the VHLM draft, where his stock has been steadily climbing over the past few weeks. His late entrance into the VHLM took many by surprise as not many teams took notice of him at all, which made his decision to join Philadelphia all the easier. “I hope to be drafted by Philadelphia again: they took a chance on a kid from Iceland and I want to repay that by displaying my loyalty. With that in mind, though, I know it’s a business now and I’ll play my heart out for any team that drafts me.” Scoringsonn’s stock, while on the rise, is still a mystery to many. While he could theoretically make is way into the Top 5, the Top 10 seems like a more realistic target for the young man from Iceland. He looks to a full off-season training with whichever team he ends up with, hopefully doing enough to lead them to a VHLM championship.
  17. Could I have the same done? Had a player in the past but didn't apply any TPE -- I also had an extra 1 from carry-over for Scoringsonn. Also welcome @chillzone !
