  4. Toronto just trades away picks for inactives
  5. The Legion missed the playoffs after shocking back to back cup wins. What can they do this offseason to return to the playoffs? At this point, I think we all need to truly tip our caps to Devise. The man hasn't had any picks throughout his entire tenure as GM, yet has consistently build competitive teams. He has already acquired superstar Rylan Peace from Davos this offseason, and they have a great defense core, headlined by Tzuyu and Ryan Sullivan Jr. They also have an incredible first forward line, with Arroyo, Peace, and King. Unfortunately for the Legion, they don't have anything else besides those guys. They have already traded all their picks that can be traded, so how can they acquire more talent to try to contend? Free Agency Since they have no draft picks, Toronto has to invest heavily in free agency if they want to get better. They have 14 million in cap space, and there are a couple specific guys they need to go all in on. Cayden Saint Saint is a defenseman for the Riga Reign, and he is about to become a free agent. While Dan Montgomery will also be available, Helsinki will most likely be able to re-sign him. The Reign don't have that option for Saint, as they are hard pressed against the cap with Saint not under contract. There is no way Saint will be able to re-sign with Riga unless they go out of their way to deal guys to make room for him. The Legion could use Saint as a second pairing defenseman that they desperately need, as they only have three defensemen on the roster (only two are active). Even though Saint is most likely inactive, he will still positively impact the Legion. The Legion will still most likely be able to pick him up through the inactive free agency system unless Moscow swoops in and steals him. Veran Dragomir Dragomir can be considered one of the top forwards the VHL has to offer. His 72 points last season was lower than his previous years, but his value is still there. The Legion only have one good line, so picking up Dragomir will make that line even better, while dropping down King or Arroyo to the second line will add depth to the team. Davos has enough cap space to re-sign Dragomir, but does Dragomir want to sign there? Fellow Davos player Jake Davis just signed a contract with Davos, so perhaps that will make Dragomir want to re-sign. If that's not the case, the Legion need to land Dragomir at all costs. There are many questions surrounding Toronto. Is the goaltending of JB Rift good enough to lead a team to the playoffs? Even if they sign both guys I mentioned, they still may not be good enough to make the playoffs. Calgary and Vancouver are bound to make it back to the postseason, while Moscow is ready to fight for the conference crossover. If they sign Davis and Saint, I still think it won't be enough for Toronto to make the playoffs unless Devise pulls out a miracle. Potential S67 Legion lineup: Dragomir-Peace-Arroyo King-Boucher-Zajaczkowski Sullivan Jr-Tzuyu Saint-Vihjalmsson JB Rift in net
  6. @Jables Welcome back! Good to see you again. Las Vegas only has eight rostered players, as well as two defenseman. I can offer you first/second pair minutes and special teams time. You will get plenty of minutes. You know the drill about accepting a contract I'm sure. We would love to have you in Green and White this upcoming season!
  7. You can never have enough AGM seasoning
  8. The Menace bounced back from an atrocious inaugural season, and showed great promise in their sophomore season. What else can they do to improve? The Menace are in an excellent position right now. With the recent trades used to acquire Podrick Cast, Randoms, and Roger Sterling, they have become a potential playoff team and a darkhorse cup contender. They also have many young pieces that they have gotten through the expansion draft and the entry draft. Guys such as Mark Gebaurer, Jet Jaguar, Evgeni Komarov, and Mat Tocco are a few examples of young players that round out this Moscow team. What needs to improve for this team to be a true contender? Draft After a wild sequence of trades, Moscow finds themselves with the 11th overall pick as well as the 23rd pick. After a season that had the Menace finish second in Goals For but dead last in Goals Against, it's obvious that they need better defense. In the second round, guys like Lincoln Tate and Derek England could be available, but Tate has potential to be taken in the first round. I would anticipate Moscow selects Derek England with the twelfth pick. If Tate is available, then Tate will likely be heading to Moscow. In the third round, I think the choice is quite obvious. While he isn't a defenseman, Berocka Sundqvist has been considered by many to be the most underrated player in the VHLM the past season. He won the Best Australian Award, which is quite the honor. Sundqvist would be another strong piece for Moscow to build a core with. Trimming the Roster The Menace have too many players. Guys such as Karl Von Moltke and Mitch Matthews are without a doubt inactive, and they should be released from the roster to make more room for active guys. Other players such as Conner McDavid, Devin Gabelle, and Edward Vigneault should be on thin ice, and haven't updated in at least two weeks. Beau Buefordsson also hasn't updated in a month, but @Radcow seems to be around. They need to get rid of some guys to make room for the active players. Moscow actually doesn't have a tough job this offseason. In Malmo, the retirement of their starting goaltender, Johnny Havenk Carison, leaves a big hole for them to fill. Moscow has added to their team very nicely, and I could see them making the playoffs next season. Here is a potential lineup for Moscow next year: Gebauer-Cast-Randoms Baillie-Jaguar-Weyed Voloshenkov-Pavlov-Tocco Nano-Komarov England-Bueffordsson Sterling in net The defense is certainly lacking, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Moscow deal away some of their picks for a top tier defenseman. I could see Moscow finishing fourth in the EU, but getting in the playoffs due to crossover with the NA conference.
  9. I'll do it. I am good with spreadsheets and have tons of free time

  20. The Nighthawks started the season off hot, but failed to keep up it, finishing in ninth place. What can this expansion team do to position themselves into contenders? Malmo had a tremendous start to their season, with a combination of young talent (Materazo, Glover, Lynch, Garcia, Moose) alongside some veteran players (Carison,Odinsson, Pajari). Their strong start was short lived, they began to slip down the standings, and eventually found themselves sitting in ninth place, only ahead of Seattle. What can they do this offseason to improve their current roster? Lets take a look at some of their prospects they have coming up to the VHL next season. New Prospects Malmo will likely be running three forward lines next year, with many new players coming up from the VHLM. They have center Lucas Nygren coming to Malmo, alongside a flurry of wingers coming up from the minors, such as Blake Gaudette, Brian Strong, and Blake Laughton. On defense, MORPHEUS, the crusher of skulls and destroyer of souls, will make his long awaited VHL debut next season, alongside fellow bone crusher Rusty Shackleford. They will also get goaltender Juan Juandice, who put up solid numbers in the minors. We will see what his role in Malmo will be, depending on if they select Rayz Funk or not. That is a ton of new talent that is being brought up, without much talent leaving the team. Sadly, Vaydar Odinsson will not be returning to Malmo next season, and I anticipate guys such as David Harrison, Sergei Kovalev and Bolt Vanderhuge will be on the way out, since they have not updated in over a month and a half. That leaves Malmo with some key decisions in the upcoming draft, despite only having a few picks heading into it. Draft The Nighthawks will have the 3rd and 6th overall picks, as well as two third rounders. I can see a few things happening: With their first round pick, they need anything they can get. With the early retirement of Johnny Havenk Carison, taking Rayz Funk to replace Carison is a path that the Nighthawks may consider. They also can try to add a scoring winger, such as Bjorn Scoringsson. They have good center depth, with Nacho, Nygren, and Glover down the middle, alongside an aging Pajari. I would suggest picking Rayz Funk. Funk will replace Carison in net, and would be the future of Malmo. With the seventh pick, they should go for a forward, specifically a center. Nygren has made the decision to move from center to defense, so picking up a defenseman holds little use. I think Malmo should reach a little and select Michael Scott with the seventh overall pick. Many teams are high on Scott, so picking him seventh would be an excellent pickup for the Nighthawks. He would complete a center core that features Mikka Pajari and Teagan Glover. With the two third rounders, they could go for another center. Pajari is aging, and having a center that can replace him is important. They should select Zeno Miniti and Danny DeYeeto with their two picks. DeYeeto provides Malmo with another defenseman that can step in if anyone falls to inactivity, and Miniti could be a potential replacement for Pajari when he retires. Stay Patient Malmo is still in a position where they are a year or two away from being a serious contender. There is no need to go out and make a big free agency splash by signing Veran Dragomir. As long as Malmo doesn't try to become immediate contenders, they will be incredible for multiple seasons in the near future. We saw the tragedy of the New York Americans attempting to accelerate their rebuild and paying for it dearly the last two seasons before falling back into the bottom of the league. As long as Malmo can avoid doing something like that, they could be a top notch team alongside Moscow and Seattle in the years to come. Here is what Malmo could look like next season: Lynch-Pajari-Materazo Gaudette-Glover-Scott Strong-Nygren-Laughton Garcia-Shackleford MORPHEUS-Moose Funk Jaundice That is a scary lineup. They aren't super skilled, but their physical presence will be well known throughout the league. Pajari finished second in the league in hits, and the additions of MORPHEUS and Shackleford will surely make offenses think twice, and throw them off their game. Malmo probably won't be great next year, but they will be incredible in a few years
