Press conference for week ending October 13th.

Tough week, but now we can possibly relax and just put in time on training, experiment with lines and play more creatively and without pressure, as our position is pretty hard to climb to a playoff position from. It is of course still possible, we'll see how this week goes, but it might be nice to just play and enjoy the ice.

    1. Perhaps not the best week last week, at worst ten losses in a row. Were we that outplayed do you feel, or just a bit of bad luck with bounces and margins?

I think we were outplayed. I am extremely honest, and we just weren't there. Offense was amazing, but we just couldn't beat THEIR offense.
    2. Which snacks do you bring to the locker room ahead of a game or a training?

Spudnuts. They are just amazing, and Saskatoon makes some MEAN spudnuts.
    3. How do you feel about the S70 changes to the Career Point Tasks? (https://vhlforum.com/topic/70624-career-point-task-change/)

Pretty neat. They look promising. We need stuff like this in the VHL/VHLM organization.

    4. How are you liking your current ice time?

I love my ice time. As a 2nd line LW, I am on almost every special team and extra line. Saskatoon treats me well ;) .
    5. Do you have a rival on a competing team?

So I got a contract offer from them (I love telling this story) and rejected them. My rival... HALISUX
    6. With the Trade Deadline coming up, do you think we will see any big moves in either VHLM or VHL?

Absolutely, we NEED big trades to become more popular and get more viewer interest. AND... I want some fresh faces in Saskatoon.

(Edit, it's spelled Deadline, not Deadling :))

  2. Kristopher McDagg - The Scouting Report

Scouting report by Scout Ryan van Meier

All of this info is valid from September 23rd, 2019. If not valid, you are reading this later after it was published.

Kristopher McDagg is a 6'5" 190lbs Power forward who was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He currently is playing for his hometown team. McDagg is a solid defender on the ice, even though he is a power forward. He can hit, and also he can put the puck in the back of the net. He scored the first game of the season for Saskatoon. McDagg once had this to say... "McDagg. Get used to that name, you'll hear it a lot." The kid's pros and cons are pretty even. Pro #1 - Defense. McDagg can be your defending 2nd/3rd line LW. The guy is big and isn't afraid through his body down to make a stop for his team to get the W. Pro #2 - Checking. McDagg, like I said, isn't afraid to through is body around. McDagg LOVES to give people a good hit. At 6'5", who wouldn't be? This kid at 19 years old is actually a pretty solid scorer. Oh, that reminds me! Pro #3 - Scoring. McDagg is a solid scorer, but don't expect him to get 40 goals. He may crack 30 a couple times, but that's not his main focus.

McDagg has some weaknesses too. Con #1 - Leadership. McDagg doesn't want to be a captain, never did! He lacks leadership, though, in ways other than captaincy. He won't motivate people or be that guy who just wants to make his teammates always happy. Con #2 - Fighting. As a power forward he really isn't that great of a fighter. He'll get under your skin, sure! But he'll not likely get in a scrap with you. Finally, Con #3 - Discipline. If he takes a penalty, he'll no doubt be called for it. He just isn't the kind of guy to take penalties. He is very cautious on the ice, so it should be a big problem.

The Pros and Cons not included...

McDagg can't take a penalty shot, or a faceoff either. He really isn't good at either of those. McDagg is a great puck handler, and a strong guy though. Those make up for him not being able to do any of the other things. He is neutral in skating and passing since he just wants to focus on becoming a better power forward for Saskatoon. He says that he will do anything to become a good player for Saskatoon. McDagg will improve on anything his team, from fans, to teammates, to management, tell him to do to become the best player he can be, or that his team wants him to be. Another plus is that McDagg will fit well into any locker room! Great morale, and would love to get drafted by New York to play with his buddies Fredrik Elmebeck, and Dalton Wilcox. McDagg will struggle in a locker room if he doesn't like the atmosphere, the teams overall performance, or the GM's coaching tactics. In Saskatoon, they are struggling, but he doesn't think they will stay in this slump. McDagg is a very positive player.

That was Kristopher McDagg's scouting report and ONE TIME rookie profile as of September 23rd, 2019. This scout report was written and scouted by Ryan van Meier.

  3. "Well, it's been fun in Houston before the draft. But being a late pick for Saskatoon has really changed things for me. I am doing pretty good by a rookie's standards. With only 48 TPE and getting a point every 2 games on a struggling team, that's pretty good." McDagg started off with. He was then asked about the expansion... "Yeah, they pretty much suck. I said this in the press conference that will air next week. We are struggling, but we can make a comeback, I just can't see them having one. So those are my thoughts, next?" A reporter asked about HIS teams performance. "Look, we aren't the hottest right now, but I can see us heating up. With Peace and my old pal Elmebeck in charge, I see us making a comeback and reaching for a playoff spot. I like to think optimistically." He was asked about his GM, AGM, Teammates, and Draft... "The management is amazing! Such great people. My teammates are great guys and skilled players! But the draft... I didn't even think I was getting drafted! I thought I would remain an unsigned player in Houston. When I found out Saskatoon drafted me, I was thrilled! North of the border baby! At #71 in the draft, I just couldn't believe it!"

"Thanks for interviewing me, and I'd like to say thanks to Elmebeck, Peace, Frost, and Wilcox!"

    Week 9/29

Another Wild press conference this sunny day!

    F2fjzIs.png

Despite being last with Ottawa our points per game are actually a lot better than last season, keep trucking on!

    1. Do you feel like you're supported in earning weekly TPE, what works well and what could work better?

Well, to be honest, this is my first time using TPE in 3 weeks, but I'd say the graphics work well because you can express your creative side.
    2. What's your favorite point task out of all that you've tried? Any you haven't tried but would like to?

Again, the graphics work well because I can be creative.
    3. With a few games under your belt now, what attributes do you plan to focus on improving? Or what kind of role are you aiming for overall (i.e. LW power forward, sniper, breakaway skater, etc)?

I am a LW Power Foward, and I want to focus on defense first, then checking, then I'll head towards scoring.
    4. Which NHL team you root for and why?

Blackhawks since they are my hometown team. LETS GO HAWKS! LEHNER DON'T MESS UP!
    5. If you have followed the VHL expansion teams, how do you think they will place at the end of the season? Will any of them, or both, manage to hit the playoffs?

Honestly, they are the worst teams in the VHL. They just lack basic skills required for the league. Their players aren't good enough.
    6. What are your thoughts on the VHL so far? What do you like, and what don't you like?
I like how the teams are playing, they are *trying*. DC and Prague can do better, but let's say New York, hey Elmebeck, they just play like a team who wants to win.

Kristopher McDagg's comments after the conference...

"Thanks for letting do yet another conference. Yes, I will be criticized by hating on the new teams because we're dead last too, but we can make a comeback, I just don't see them doing that. And- is that your phone? Turn that crap off!"

    1. Looking back at our last season, what would you have done differently, if you would have done anything different at all?

I wasn't here last season, but I would have been on this team to make a difference.

    2. What do you expect from the Saskatoon Wild this season?

I'm expecting a decent season after my first year here, this looks like a solid squad.

    3. Are you worried you may be traded away during the season?

Yes, trading is always a factor. I am willing to do anything for whichever team I am on to win.

    4. The Saskatoon Alumni list is pretty impressive, what player do you look up too the most on that list?

Honestly, I don't look up to any of them, I want to be my own player.

    5. What type of player do you want to be in the VHL?

A power forward who's always there for his team.

    6. How would you rate our roster, from a zero to one hundred scale.

I'd say 60. We aren't doing so hot right now, but it's only game 16 so I think we can heat up.

  6. Kristopher McDagg: 19 Year Old Power Forward LW 6'5" 190lbs. Straight out of school to get into the VHLM. Excited for his first game. Looking into the league and gets an offer from 21st. Declines to get onto the Houston Bulls roster with some great faces. McDagg is new, and was lucky to even be noticed, but he is confident he can become one of the best players in the league. McDagg had this to say to the press earlier today:

"I look forward to playing here and can't wait to play with my teammates. Houston looks like a good team where I can develop my skills, and that's why I chose here. 21st looked good, but I couldn't resist signing that $1.5M contract with Houston. This team is something that I've looked up to for awhile, just never dreamed of playing here. It's nice, just never would have expected Houston. FrostBeard is very helpful and even 21st GM said so. This team will be the team that gets me into the VHL."

After that interview he talked to GM FrostBeard and other teammates on discord, and the rookie he is asked about 100 questions. That is all from us today and we are looking forward to seeing McDagg playing tomorrow.

Well, most likely you will go into the draft so it's a toss up from there (if its the vhlm draft). Good luck in Houston! @FrostBeard is an awesome GM and person as a whole.

Thank you for understanding. I saw this late so thats why I went to Houston. I didn't see this in time, and I was looking at this team earlier. Pleasure talking with you!

Hey @Viperxhawks19! Halifax 21st GM here! We're coming off of a 2nd round Founder's Cup knockout and we're looking to go for it all this season. I can offer top 9 minutes, some of our players are higher tpe but you would have no trouble at all moving up in the depth chart if you put in the work. We have a whole bunch of new, active members, loaded into a team Discord server, all of whom would be happy to help you out with getting to know your way around the site/back into the league. We're a fifth year expansion team, who has had nothing but success in a league that is generally hard to get into the playoffs. The only thing we have yet to do is capture our first cup! You could help us there. You would really improve our team and I'd love to have you along.

The team also will be participating in some extracurricular activities. But if I had to pick three things that this team is good at doing it would be winning, helping each other out wherever we can, and most importantly having fun! So what do you say? Want to be a member of the 21st? To accept this offer just quote the post and say "accepted", although whether you choose us or not, I wish you the best of luck in your career! ?

I have went with Houston. Nothing personal, it's just I'm not that good yet. Once I am better please keep me in mind. Thank you!
