  1. With season 94 marking the halfway point in my current player’s career, now seems like as good a time as any to begin planning for my next player. Sweet, supple Obuz projects to be a great defenseman, a true franchise cornerstone that will fail to bring Moscow a Cup, ensuring Spartan remains cursed. This has been the first player where I’ve thoroughly buildcrafted and actually kept with what was sort of the meta, and not divulging down a meme path. This has also been the first player in which I’ve tried to max earn, pretty much right out the get go, and has already surpassed beautiful, bodacious Vladovechsenkchushkin in TPE. For my next player, I plan on changing one of these things. I will continue to max earn, as much as I can at least, but this time, I’m going to go back to my roots and build my way. My next, awe-inspiring player will be a defenseman, a position that I’ve grown quite fond of. This defenseman will pay homage to my second player, Shawty Nananana, and be a pure passing blueliner, in hopes of scoring zero goals and 100 assists. I will hold off tactfully in the creation of this player, so that I am in the s100 draft, as well as a free agent going into the VHLM, and will be suiting up for the Houston Bulls, as I have already written my first media spot for this player. I am going to fully adopt a roleplaying style as well, with media spots being written as sections of the diary of this player, with true hard hitting philosophical discussion. Of course, no player is complete without a truly unique name. Their name, etched in stone and known by the masses, shall be, Ayumu Kasuga.

Oh, @FTK,my sweet sweet summer child.

    Xizer Zilla (retired)

    Picked: 13th

    Seasons: 1

    Statline: 17G-22A-39P
TPE: 435 (21st in draft class)

Seen as a questionable pick at the time, yet still a better option than the lowly Obuz, Zilla would have an unimpressive career at the VHL level, retiring before making any legitimate impact. While they were a high earner, there were concerns that they would fall off, as that seemed to be the usual trend for the user. Great player for the lower leagues, but more often than not won’t be making an impact in the VHL. GMs may have thought this time would be different, but alas, peaked in the E. They came back with a new player and this time didn’t even break the M cap.

I guess in the end, this was a questionable pick.

    Conference Prince-de-Galles

    Picked: 14th

    Seasons: 2

    Statline: 18G-71A-89P
TPE: 605 (18th in draft class)

Given the “underrated pick” tag, that seems like a fair decision. They were, at the time, higher in TPE than horrid Bocage, and it was stated that Mr. Author would be content with swapping the selections, after all, they were the best option and Obuz was a reach. While their trajectory is that of a solid, middle level defenseman with a stable game, they lack the true franchise level that a team would be looking for in a scarce defenseman draft, with Obuz and Prince-de-Galles both being top 5 in the draft class. Not a bad pick, but I would not necessarily say better than Bocage.

    King Kisslinger

    Picked: 15th

    Seasons: 3

    Statline: 75G-127A-202P
TPE: 907 (10th in draft class)

This is probably the only player listed that I’d give the pass to. Kisslinger has stayed relatively close to Bocage in terms of growth, with a much greater offensive upside on a much funnier team in Warsaw. Based on some players earlier in the draft either taking a step back in their claiming or fizzling out entirely, Kisslinger was seen as a steal at the time, and has become one. If Moscow actually needed a forward here instead of snagging two earlier, Kisslinger could have definitely been the pick. As for Obuz, it’s already meme enough that Spartan will trade me to Warsaw. Swapping draft spots would basically be destiny.

    Bruise Banner (IA)

    Picked: 16th

    Seasons: 1

    Statline: 2G-8A-10P
TPE: 329 (31st in draft class)

Ottawa Lynx legend and seen as the greatest steal of all time, a true franchise cornerstone for Helsinki, Banner ended up not playing a single game with the Titans, instead going IA before reaching the E cap and becoming fodder for the abysmal S93 HC Davos Dynamo. Trajectory seemed good, and was a genuinely positive and engaging locker room presence, but sometimes real life gets in the way of things, as well as simply burning out. A bright VHL star, burning brightly and fizzling away in a flash.

and now, for the legend himself:

    Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage

    Picked: 12th

    Seasons: 3

    Statline: 47G-109A-156P
TPE: 942 (7th in draft class)

    Draft Selection: Bust

    Gifs: On point
    VHL channel: Spammed

    Spartan: Annoyed

    VHLE: Skipped

Perhaps one of the greatest draft busts of all time, beautiful, supple Bocage tops not just the listed competition, but a handful of other selections taken above him. If I decided to not miss out on over 50 TPE during my M stint so I could stay down for an extra season and avoid the E altogether, Bocage could have likely been a top 10 pick, not labeled a reach, and we would instead be talking about how the former Stolzschweiger trophy winner and 2 time Labatte trophy winner has led Moscow to their 3rd straight Continental Cup and has solidified Euron Leonidas as the best GM of all time, but alas. Fate had other ideas, and the Bocage yearned for the M one more time before they went off on their grand journey. Despite the immaculate success and growth that Bocage has had, Moscow management has acquired both the 1st and 2nd overall picks in this upcoming draft, and are ecstatic that Bocage no longer has a no-trade clause. With the 1st overall selection, they draft his replacement. The 2nd will need to be packaged with Bocage over to Warsaw for a conditional 4th. But for now, they stand as I guess an okay selection by Moscow and probably better than the other options.

Honestly we rarely do interviews anymore because the answers became highly predictable and all the same so no one else got one either, don’t feel bad.

All good. Just used to the old process so was wondering 👍

  4. Since I will be doing a VHLM playoff breakdown later next week, I felt it redundant to write my usual deadline rankings. At the same time, I kinda need to do a media spot to ensure Spartan does not banish me to Warsaw for not max earning, so I suppose I will do a bit of a casual around the league sort of thing. Since I pretty much exclusively focus on the M, it’ll be a nice change of pace to look at the other leagues as well.

    The VHL

Taking a glance at the VHL, it appears to be a tale of two conferences. The NA conference has pretty much been Toronto’s conference all season long, and while Seattle has turned in somewhat recently and pushed, Toronto is still somewhat comfortable in first. Their goal differential is pretty insane compared to the rest of the conference, looking like a true offensive juggernaut. There is one playoff spot still up for grabs. Chicago is occupying that spot for now, but Calgary or Vancouver have a chance to take it from them. The EU conference has been shifting around like crazy throughout the season. Seeding has been completely up in the air. Moscow was riding high for a fair while, then fell off, especially at the deadline. A couple Moscow players have cooled off after their hot start, and the team now is kind of mid, despite what their roster looks like on paper. All playoff spots are locked off, with Moscow edging Helsinki out for that final spot, although nothing is set in stone. Point difference between 1st and 5th is 9. It’s pretty much anyone’s conference.

    The VHLE

The worst league is showing some parity this season, which is somewhat typical. Feel like in such a small league, it’s hard for teams to separate from one another. There is a pretty clear divide as to who is good and who sucks. Oslo, Cologne (shocker) and Vasteras all relatively close together and all pretty good, whereas Stockholm, Rome, and Bratislava are all pretty bad. Bratislava is the first team to be eliminated from contention, and it is down to Rome and Stockholm for who gets that last spot. Stockholm is marginally better and should take it, and have a chance to do so next sim.

    The VHLM

Feels nice being first. Ottawa has gone back to what won them the Cup a handful of seasons ago, with strong defense and a balanced offense, and has maintained top play past the trade deadline while, as per usual, not getting any waivers. Halifax has been battling for that top spot honors all season long, but there has been a little bit of separation as of late. Vegas has fallen off after looking like they were going to hold down the top spot in the Western Conference, but Saskatoon has surged upwards and looks like the best team on paper. Most playoff spots have been secured, with only one spot remaining. It will be a battle between Mexico City and Miami, as San Diego is officially eliminated from contention. There’s a pretty big breakdown in the league. Top teams are Ottawa, Halifax, Saskatoon, and Houston. Mid teams are Vegas, Philly, and Mississauga. Mexico City, Miami, and San Diego make up the bad teams.
